Day of Atonement / Yom Kippur is about the atonement that Yeshua / Jesus worked out for us believers and the different aspects of that. Symbolism is deeply important to understand what YHWH Elohim wants to teach us with the ceremony of the Day Atonement / Yom Kippur, and how it is a prophecy of Yeshua’s / Jesus’ mortal life and especially of His last hours. How Yeshua / Jesus took our sins upon Himself to save all those who have sinned in their past and come under His covering.
Mosiah (LDS 1:2) (RLDS 1:2-3)
A And it came to pass that he [king Benjamin / YHWH]
-B had three [redeemed] sons [disciples];
–C and he [king Benjamin / YHWH] called their names [character] Mosiah, and Helorum, and Helaman.
—D And he [king Benjamin / YHWH] caused that they [disciples] should be taught
—-E in all the language [symbolism] of his [king Benjamin / YHWH] fathers [prophets],
—–F that thereby they [disciples] might become men of understanding;
—-E and that they [disciples] might know concerning the prophecies
—D which had been spoken by the mouths
–C of their [disciples] fathers [prophets],
-B which were delivered them by the hand [works, perfect example]
A of the Lord [YHWH].
The image of the two hands, which is all the hands someone has, laid upon the head is very significant to the Day of Atonement / Yom Kippur ceremony. First of all, head represents the leader. Second hands represents works. Third laying upon is symbolic of placing the responsibility onto something. This brings out how, for the believers, all our deeds are being made the responsiblity of leader Yeshua / Jesus the promised Messiah / Christ. Just as the Holy Spirit, which is Torah, testifies of the Father and the Son, Torah testifies of this character [name] of Yeshua in Numbers 30:15.
Numbers 30:15
A But if he [head / Yeshua] shall any ways make them void [atonement]
-B after that he [head / Yeshua] hath heard [knows] them;
A then he [head / Yeshua] shall bear her [church] iniquity.
Goats, a symbol for sinners, being used instead of lambs for the pinnacle of the Day of Atonement / Yom Kippur goes with how Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:21 tells us that Yeshua / Jesus took our sins upon Himself.
2 Corinthians 5:21
A For He [YHWH] hath made Him [Yeshua] to be sin for us,
-B Who [Yeshua] knew no sin;
-B that we [sinners] might be
A made the righteousness of God [Elohim] in Him [Yeshua].
Keeping in mind how the mercy seat has many aspects to it, helps to understand the Day of Atonement / Yom Kippur ceremony. Including how YHWH Elohim who is Yeshua in the flesh work and glory is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of all those who became mortal through sin.
Moses 1:39 (Revelation to Moses 1:23)
AA For behold, this is My [YHWH]
AB work
AC and My [YHWH] glory—
BA to bring to pass
BB the immortality
BC and eternal life of man [family of Adam].
One thing we as disciples of Yeshua / Jesus are to do forever through out our generations, during Day of Atonement / Yom Kippur, the day of judgement, is to fast from dinner after sunset on the 9th day of the 7th moon to dinner after sunset of the 10th day of the 7th moon. Fasting is symbolic of controlling our bodily appetites or in other words putting of the natural man. The fact that it matters if we are controlling our appetites that come from the natural man that encourages to sin, at judgement day, teaches us that it does not matter that we have sinned in our past if come under the coving of Yeshua / Jesus which is making Him our Father our Head our Leader and become like Him in the end of our lives. It does not matter how we start, as long as it get it right in the end. Mercy is intergral part of Torah, because the gospel which is taught in Torah, is about becoming like Yeshua / Jesus such that we will have His countenance upon us.
The Day of Atonement / Yom Kippur ceremony points to Yeshua / Jesus so much, that even the day of the moon that it happens also points to Him. Let me explain, in the creation prophecy, it is stated that Yeshua / Jesus will come in the 4th millennium, which He did and worked out the atonement to bring us back to Him on the 14th day of 1st moon. Because of this the 4th millennium goes along with the 14th day of the moon, which means the 13th day goes with the 3rd millennium, and the 12th day goes with the 2nd millennium, and the 11th day goes with the 1st millennium, meaning the 10th day is before the foundation of the world, where Yeshua decided Himself and the believers choose Him to be the one slain.
Revelation 13:8
A And all that dwell upon the earth [wicked]
-B shall worship him [Satan / antiChrist],
–C whose names [characters]
—D are not written [described]
–C in the book of life [instructions / Torah]
-B of the Lamb [Yeshua] slain
A from the foundation of the world.
Below I have provided passages from the five books of Moses, also known as Torah, dealing with the Day of Atonement / Yom Kippur. I have formatted them into chiasmus, Hebrew poetry, to help the astute student of Yeshua to get a deeper understanding of what He wants His disciples to know. Along with glyphs to bring out the symbolism of what the images point to, to help people see how this poitns to Yeshua’s / Jesus’ sacrifice which happened during the last hours of His mortal life.
I am only able to put so much into the glyphs to help people understand this wondrous ceremony. For those who would enjoying seeing more, during Scripture Study 2024-10-10, a group of us, spent the time expounding the Leviticus 16 chiasmus regarding the ceremony for Day of Atonement / Yom Kippur, bringing much out. Show how the gospel is taught in the Day of Atonement / Yom Kippur ceremony. And even how our prayers are to be short and not long with much words.
I hope and pray these teachings from Torah will help you understand YHWH Elohim who came down as Yeshua / Jesus the promised Messiah / Christ and will draw you unto Him.
