Church Government

(see also Churches)

Part of being YHWH’s Church, is to govern the church the way YHWH has told us to govern it and not false traditions of men nor laywers. We are to govern YHWH’s church by YHWH’s words found in the scriptures. When we are leaders in YHWH’s church, part of our duty is to search the scriptures on what YHWH has said how His church is to be governed. In Scripture Study 2025-05-19 a group of us go over what YHWH states verses traditions on how the church is to be organized.

The members of YHWH’s church are also to know how the leaders are to govern YHWH’s church, such that they can hold the leaders accountable for what they do and how they do it as YHWH has told the members to be watch dogs of the leaders.

D&C 1:25 And inasmuch as they [church leaders] erred it might be made known:

D&C 1:27 And inasmuch as they [church leaders] sinned they might be chastened, that they might repent;

-B become a transgressor and offend thee,
A pluck it HIM [leader] out.

There are two priesthoods, and two priesthoods only. Namely Melchizedek Priesthood and the Aaronic Priesthood. The Aaronic priesthood is also known as the Levitical Priesthood. It is helpful to know that including is another way of saying “or”. While looking at the definitions below, please keep the following idea in mind. A comprehensive summary of a scholarly article covers everything that is written in the paper. When one reads the comprehensive summary of a paper it is as good as if one has read the entire scholarly article. This is why it is called a comprehensive summary because it contains all things that are in the article and is thus the same as the article. That which comprehends something is the same containing the same relevant information and benefits.

D&C (LDS 107:1,6) (RLDS 107) (1835 3) (1844 3)
1 There are, in the church, two priesthoods, namely, the Melchizedek and Aaronic, including the Levitical Priesthood.
6 But there are two divisions or grand heads—one is the Melchizedek Priesthood, and the other is the Aaronic or Levitical Priesthood.

Women can be Deaconess’ in the Aaronic Priesthood. Emma’s ordination to the office of a deaconess shows us that women can be deaconess. In addition the duties that Emma was told she had by YHWH Elohim in D&C (LDS 25) (RLDS 24) (1833 26:4) (1835 9) (1844 9) with her calling, which also applies to other women, matches the duties of a deacon.

The missionary arm of the church of YHWH has no authority in the church, but has the same authority in the unorginized branches, or in other words groups of people who have not been orginized as a branch as part of the church, or in other words to make the church bigger or to build up the church. The church trail of Joseph Smith, connected with Zion’s camp, is a historical example, showing that the traveling quorum of the twelve apostles have no authority in the church see Scripture Study 2025-06-25.

D&C (LDS 107:33) (RLDS 104) (1835 3) (1844 3) The Twelve are a Traveling Presiding High Council, to officiate in the name of the Lord, under the direction of the Presidency of the Church, agreeable to the institution of heaven; to build up the church, and regulate all the affairs of the same in all nations, first unto the Gentiles and secondly unto the Jews.

D&C (LDS 20:66) (RLDS 17) (1833 24) (1835 2) (1844 2) But the presiding elders [Presidency of the Church], traveling bishops, high councilors, high priests [Melchizedek holder with no office], and elders [Melchizedek holder with an office], may have the privilege of ordaining, where there is no branch of the church that a vote may be called.

An important part of church government is the fact that the members who are to receive the leadership or the services, are themselves to be voted for, not sustain, the candidates into those offices.

There are many scriptures and quotes that state that we are to vote in our church leaders, which is different than sustaining them. Before we look at these scriptures and quotes, lets look at definitions of different words and phrases that also mean vote.

There are multiple definitions of “voice” in the 1828 Webster’s dictionary that litteraly state that voice can and does mean vote.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, VOICE:
noun)
3) A VOTE; suffrage; opinion or CHOICE EXPRESSED. Originally voice was the ORAL UTTERANCE OF CHOICE, but it now signifies ANY VOTE HOWEVER GIVEN.
verb transitive)
3) To VOTE.

The next phrase “common consent” means the “public agreement” which is expressed through voting. Or as the idiom “common consent” is officially defined as “agreement by everyone” and you determine this by voting.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, COMMON:
adjective)
2) Belonging to the public; having no separate owner. The right to a highway is common
5) Public; general; frequent; as common report.
6) Usual; ordinary; as the common operations of nature; the common forms of conveyance; the common rules of civility.
verb intransitive)
1) To have a joint right with others in common ground.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, CONSENT:
noun)
2) Accord of minds; agreement; unity of opinion.
3) Agreement; coherence; correspondence in parts, qualities, or operation.
vert intransitive)
1) Literally, to think with another. Hence, to agree or accord. More generally, to agree in mind and will; to yield to what one has the power, the right, or the disposition to withhold, or refuse to grant.
2) To agree.
3) To assent.

Merriam Webster Dictionary, idiom: common consent:
agreement by everyone
– He was chosen as the leader by common consent.

The word “chosen” means someone who was selected from a group of people for an office. Which selection is done by voting.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, CHOSEN:
1) Selected from a number; picked out; taken in preference; elected; predestinated; designated to office.
2) Select; distinguished by preference; eminent.

Another word that points be vote is election which is done by the choosing of the people who that office will be over.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, ELECTION:
noun)
1) The act of choosing; choice; the act of selecting one or more from others. Hence appropriately,
2) The act of choosing a person to fill an office or employment, by any manifestation of preference, as by ballot, uplifted hands or viva voce; as the election of a king, of a president, or a mayor.
4) Power of choosing or selecting.
7) The public choice of officers.
8) The day of a public choice of officers.
9) Those who are elected.

“Appoint” also shows by the voice of the people which is done by voting in that is appointments are determined by agreement.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, APPOINT:
verb transitive)
6) To settle; to fix, name or determine by agreement; as, they appointed a time and place for the meeting.

Without any further ado, here are the scriptures that I know of from the Doctrine and Covenants and a quote from church history, that state that church offices of the branches (ward is not in the Doctrine and Covenants) are to chosen by the members of the body who they will serve by voting.

D&C (LDS 20:63-66) (RLDS 17) (1833 24) (1835 2) (1844 2)
63 The elders are to receive their licenses from other elders, by VOTE of the church [members] to which they belong, or from the conferences. 64 Each priest, teacher, or deacon, who is ordained by a priest, may take a certificate [proof] from him at the time, which certificate [proof], when presented to an elder, shall entitle him to a license [permission], which shall authorize him to perform the duties of his calling, or he may receive it from a conference. 65 NO PERSON is to be ORDAINED to ANY OFFICE in this church, where there is a regularly organized branch of the same, WITHOUT the VOTE of that church [members]; 66 But the presiding elders, traveling bishops, high councilors, high priests, and elders, may have the privilege of ordaining, where there is no branch of the church [members] that a VOTE may be called.

D&C (LDS 26:2) (RLDS 25) (1833 27) (1835 49) (1844) And all things shall be done by COMMON CONSENT [VOTE] in the church, by much prayer and faith, for all things you shall receive by faith. Amen.

D&C (LDS 28:10) (RLDS 27) (1833 30) (1835 51) (1844 51) Thou shalt not leave this place until after the conference; and my servant Joseph shall be appointed to preside over the conference by the VOICE [VOTE] of it, and what he saith to thee thou shalt tell.

D&C (LDS 28:13) (RLDS 27) (1833 30) (1835 51) (1844 51) For all things must be done in order, and by COMMON CONSENT [VOTE] in the church, by the prayer of faith.

D&C (LDS 38:34) (RLDS 28) (1833 40) (1835 12) (1844 12) And now, I give unto the church in these parts a commandment, that certain men among them shall be appointed, and they shall be appointed by the VOICE [VOTE] of the church;

D&C (LDS 41:9) (RLDS 41) (1833 43) (1835 61) (1844 41) And again, I have called my servant Edward Partridge; and I give a commandment, that he should be appointed by the VOICE [VOTE] of the church, and ordained a bishop unto the church, to leave his merchandise and to spend all his time in the labors of the church;

D&C (LDS 51:12) (RLDS 51) (1833 23) (1844 23) And this shall be done through the bishop or the agent, which shall be appointed by the VOICE [VOTE] of the church.

D&C (LDS 53:1) (RLDS 53) (1833 55) (1835 66) (1844 67) Behold, I say unto you, my servant Sidney Gilbert, that I have heard your prayers; and you have called upon me that it should be made known unto you, of the Lord your God, concerning your calling and ELECTION [VOTE] in the church, which I, the Lord, have raised up in these last days.

D&C (LDS 54:7) (RLDS 54) (1833 56) (1835 67) (1844 68) Wherefore, go to now and flee the land, lest your enemies come upon you; and take your journey, and APPOINT [VOTE] whom you will to be your leader, and to pay moneys for you.

D&C (LDS 58:49) (RLDS 58) (1833 59) (1835 18) (1844 18) And let there be an agent appointed by the VOICE [VOTE] of the church, unto the church in Ohio, to receive moneys to purchase lands in Zion.

D&C (LDS 102:5-6) (RLDS 99) (1835 5) (1844 5)
5 The number composing the council, who VOTED in the name and for the church in appointing the above-named councilors were forty-three, as follows: nine high priests, seventeen elders, four priests, and thirteen members. 6 VOTED: that the high council cannot have power to act without seven of the above-named councilors, or their regularly appointed successors are present.

D&C (LDS 102:8-9) (RLDS 99) (1835 5) (1844 5)
8 VOTED: that whenever any vacancy shall occur by the death, removal from office for transgression, or removal from the bounds of this church government, of any one of the above-named councilors, it shall be filled by the nomination of the president or presidents, and sanctioned by the voice of a general council of high priests, convened for that purpose, to act in the name of the church. 9 The president of the church, who is also the president of the council, is appointed by revelation, and acknowledged in his administration by the VOICE [VOTE] of the church.

D&C (LDS 102:19) (RLDS 99) (1835 5) (1844 5) After the evidences are heard, the councilors, accuser and accused have spoken, the president shall give a decision according to the understanding which he shall have of the case, and call upon the twelve councilors to sanction the same by their VOTE.

D&C (LDS 107:22) (RLDS 104) (1835 3) (1844 3) Of the Melchizedek Priesthood, three Presiding High Priests [First Presidency], CHOSEN [VOTE] BY THE BODY [MEMBERS OF CHURCH, NOT YHWH ELOHIM], appointed and ordained to that office, and UPHELD BY THE CONFIDENCE, faith, and prayer of the church [members], form a quorum of the Presidency of the Church.

Joseph presided over the church by the VOICE [VOTE] of the Church [Members]. Perhaps it would make some of you stumble, were I to ask you a question–Does a man’s being a prophet in this Church prove that he shall be president of it? I answer, no! A man may be a prophet, seer and revelator, and it may have nothing to do with his being the president of the Church. Suffice it to say that Joseph was the president of the Church, as long as he lived. The people CHOSE [VOTE] to have it so. He always filled that responsible station, by the VOICE [VOTE] of the people [members]. Can you find any revelation appointing him the president of the Church? The keys of the priesthood were committed to Joseph, to build up the Kingdom of God of the earth, and were not to be taken from him in time or in eternity; but when he was called to preside over the Church, it was by the VOICE [VOTE] of the people [members]; though he held the keys of the priesthood independent of their VOICE [VOTE].

  • 2025-12-04: We are to have Torah on our mind and our hearts. Purpose of Life is to come under Yeshua’s covering, keep His Torah, and help others to do the same. When you first join YHWH’s church, you feel inadequate. It is common to fall after we come under Yeshua’s covering, hence the pallets in the dream with the church. The church should be helping people when they are going through spiritual problems. The church members need to remember what they went through such that they will have the compassion to help others through it. Helping others come to Yeshua and keep His ways should be a personal thing.
  • 2025-11-27: Back in Joseph Smith’s day becoming an elder was not a small thing. D&C and the Book of Mormon teaches that callings are done by Torah not by the priesthood. We are called the same way the Son was called. Congregation of the wicked goes along with being an apostle. Brigham Young was not released from being an apostle. Apostles are to speak as YHWH brings things to their remembrance, not preparing a talk for six months. Wo unto you for enforcing the false traditions of men, even if they seem good, especially if you say the blessings of Yah are predicated upon it. YHWH is no respecter of persons, which means He has the same standard, aka law, for everyone. Revelations of YHWH are everyone’s and should be published, if you don’t you are stealing from me. Restoration churches are not following church government as YHWH revealed in the D&C. YHWH in the D&C states that the members should be keeping the leaders in check with His word. D&C states that the 1st Pres is to judge Melchizedek Priesthood holders, not Stake Pres, and it’s not a problem when it’s given to people who are actually worthy of it, instead of aging into it. Melchizedek Priesthood is given by YHWH’s own voice. We are to be judged with witnesses not opinions. A lying witnesses will receive the punishment of the accused if their false witnesses was accepted. We are given a chance to repent before the punishment is pronounced, showing mercy is integral to it. YHWH did not answer Joseph Smith about when the sabbath is, because it was not time to reveal the lunar sabbath.
  • 2025-10-13: Going over Alma (LDS 51:1-8)(RLDS 23:1-9) and showing how it is brings out that top down governments, church or civil, are from Satan and patterned after Satan’s actions in the counsel in heaven. Freemen covenanted to maintain choice. Free government is a government that is about choice. Kingmen wanted to control everyone. Kings can do whatever they want. When Torah states not to have a king like the pagans it’s about a king that behaves like pagan kings. Top down governments are not easily corrected. Generally the majority does not choose wickedness, which when applied to governmental offices, the people will vote out wickedness when they have the ability to do so. YHWH in the scriptures states we are to VOTE for church and civil officers. The wicked Kingmen want to modify the laws such that they can force people to do what they want. Just as it is wicked to have a top down for a civil government, it is also evil to have a top down church government. One of the evils of the Nicolaitans was a top down government as does the LDS / Brighamite church. Brigham Young stated Joseph Smith was president of the church because the members voted him there and that prophet and president are two unrelated callings. Vote of no confidence is part of a free government which is a bottom up government. Moses heard the concerns of daughters and then took it to YHWH. Righteous leaders want to serve and not control. The wicked want to control those around them to support their wickedness. Righteous pattern is to have the people VOTE for officers. Wickedness pattern is to take control and give no real choice to the people. Satan twists righteousness, and here Satan twists how leaders gain power. Part of keeping your religion un-defiled is VOTING in righteous leaders who have the skills required for that office. Top down governments discourages people from helping others, bottom up governments encourages people to help each other. USA government is a top down government with an allusion of choice. Goal setting during our LDS missions were top down. Prophet is a calling from YHWH Elohim. President of the church is a calling from the people to who has the required priesthood. Brigham Young admitted that he didn’t have the required priesthood to be the president of the church. You cannot change an evil organization from within, for one they control who goes up in leadership. The righteous path always honors our agency. Government by Torah will solve the problems of today.
  • 2025-08-30: Someone is elected in the church by vote. You need to be 30 years Hebrew or 29 years Greek to use the Melchizedek in the church. The reason Yeshua started His mortal ministry at 30 years was because as stated in Hebrews He was a Melchizedek priest. Elder and high priest are two names for the same thing, someone who has the Melchizedek priesthood. Melchizedek priests are to call repentance just as taught in the book of Alma. Some tithing we are to give to the poor directly.  Joseph Smith laid his hands upon Emma to give her the Aaronic priesthood. The Bible and the Book of Mormon does not focus on giving us priesthood ordinances. YHWH only uses branch in the D&C. YHWH in the D&C brings out how the bishop is the president of all the Aaronic priesthood. Offices of the church are voted on after the branch is organized.
  • 2025-08-23: Going over the responsibilities of the Aaronic Priesthood. Deacons are like police. Deacons can be women. JST brings out that women are not to rule which shows how the Community of Christ is not keeping with what Joseph Smith restored. Women can teach, call repentance and most important bring people to Yeshua. Women are symbolic of the church, and the church is not to rule it’s head, and the heads are men. Women being deacons is symbolic of what mothers do with their children. Deacons are to be married to one of the opposite sex. How deacons can have children goes along with the minimum age of 25 Hebrew years or 24 Greek years. Symbolism of deacons being married goes with how the church is married to Yah. Deacons are to teach with boldness. With women being able to be deacons, and not other offices, goes against the lawless show The Chosen. We should be bringing out the doctrinal issues. Deacons are to have no part of the sacrament. Offices in the church are done by vote of those who it effects. LDS church have missionaries go on missions to early. Missionaries do not have to be married as taught in 1 Corinthians 7. Teachers are to teach along with other duties. Both Aaronic and Melchizedek are in the Book of Mormon. Teachers are to help members to like each other and do their duty. Aaronic priesthood is basicalSiani. Zadok’s descendants will be doing the Torah animal sacrifices when they are restored. Priests are to teach, call repentance, baptism and sacrament along with ordinations. Melchizedek Priesthood was taken away from most members not all members at mount Siani. Priests being in-charge unless there was an elder, goes with how Joseph Smith was an elder when the church was organized. Bishop is to be ordained by the first presidency. The church structured changed as the person who was to be in-charge meet the age requirement. The bishop of the branched is decided by vote. We are not to have a king that behaves like the kings of the pagans. The office of a bishop is a full time job, and the church is to pay him for his time. Bishops are the judges at court cases. Members are to keep the leaders in check according to YHWH’s word. Tithing is to primarily stay in the branch just as Torah teaches to do. The sacrament is a renewal of the covenant you made before you were baptized. With the Aaronic priesthood being the only priesthood with the outward ordinances shows that the LDS / Brighamite temple ceremony is not of YHWH Elohim because they claim it’s done with the Melchizedek priesthood despite the fact it’s an outward ordinance. The inward ordinances are baptism of Fire and baptism of the Holy Spirit. The Melchizedek priesthood is YHWH’s voice, the Aaronic priesthood is YHWH’s hands. The Holy Spirit is Torah. There is only one presidency of the Aaronic priesthood per branch for all offices not three. Literal descendants of Aaron have a right to be the bishop if they meet the other requirements. The presidency of the church is to ordain bishops. We are not to command those who is above us, we are to keep them accountable. Commandments and mysteries are to come from the head. Leaders should be open to constructive criticism. If it is YHWH’s church we should be doing how He specified it is to be done.
  • 2025-08-15: D&C (LDS 89) (RLDS 86) (1835 50) (1844 81) talks about having a feast with sacrament as does Paul JST Corinthians 11:17-34. Book of Mormon does talk about the Melchizedek and Aaronic priesthoods. Those who bless the sacrament are to kneel along with the church while the sacrament blessings are being given. Book of Mormon and church history teaches rebaptism. Church offices are done by vote of the people of branches already organized and by revelation when it has not been organized yet. The D&C only states to sustain civil government leaders, D&C states to vote for church leadership. It is best to baptized in living water. I personally ask question from Acts 15, Moroni (LDS 6) (RLDS 6) and Mosiah (LDS 18) (RLDS 9) when people ask me to baptize them which goes along do you believe Yeshua is the promised Messiah and are you striving to keep Torah. Aaronic priests need to be 25 years Hebrew to do public ministry which includes baptism. To be baptized you need to be Hebrew 8 years which is Greek 7 years. The church organization changed when Joseph was 30 Hebrew years because Joseph was old enough to use his Melchizedek priesthood publicly. LDS / Brighamite church does not have the Melchizedek which is given by YHWH’s own voice. Melchizedek priesthood is given by YHWH’s voice because they are YHWH’s voice, and Aaronic is given by the laying on of hands because they are YHWH’s hands or in other words doing the work.
  • 2025-06-25: It is important to know how church government is supposed to be run. Looking at the church trail of Joseph Smith as proof that the church high counsel is not quorum of the apostles as stated in D&C (LDS 107) (RLD 104) (1835 3) (1844 3). Current restoration churches are not governing themselves by the revelations of Yah. The traveling twelve apostles are to not to run the church but to build it aka do missionary work. The Law of Moses is not Torah. Once the apostles organize a new branch they have no more authority in that area. When a member of the church presidency transgresses they are to be judged by the high counsel of the church not the quorum of the traveling twelve apostles. The reason for the equal authority is because the apostles do for the mission field what the church high counsel does for the church. Two powers of authority, one for the missionary field and another for the church. Both powers are under the presidency of the church. The court that investigated Joseph Smith was not the traveling quorum of the twelve apostles, showing the high counsel of the church is not the quorum of the twelve. Technical details do matter. Early church leaders were not patient.
  • 2025-05-19: Going over Priesthood in the scriptures and exposing some false traditions. YHWH has one church throughout time, and has not accepted Pagan ways. Joseph Smith taught that the ordinances are to be the same forever. Animal sacrifices are coming back. Restoration means going back to how it was before not creating something new. There are only two priesthoods not three. Patriarchal is not a priesthood but deals with father to son. Pharaoh not being able to have the priesthood has to deal with a curse with his lineage. Civil government will follow Torah in Zion. Melchizedek was not a reincarnation of Yeshua. Offices in the priesthood give people the authority to administer in the church. Elder is an office, not a division of the High Priesthood. High priests are men who have the High Priesthood. The apostles are to go to the non-believers not the church. Men who receive the Melchizedek priesthood have been sanctified. Offices in the church are voted in by those who they will govern. When the president of the church sins, he will be held accountable. Torah is eternal. Aaronic is given by the laying on of hands because they are the ones that do the work. Melchizedek is given by YHWH’s voice because they are to be His voice. The fact that the High Priesthood has no outward ordinances shows us that the LDS / Brighamite temples are not of YHWH. The traveling apostles only have authority in the world. Once the traveling twelve set apart a bishop in the branch, the traveling apostles no longer have any authority there. Bishops in the LDS / Brighamite church get overwhelmed because they are manipulated into taking that office before they are ready for it. Being a bishop is a fulltime job and YHWH has stated they should be paid for it. Traveling apostles are to be missionaries to non-believers bringing converts to the church themselves. YouTube preachers asking for money are practicing priestcraft. Torah is about how YHWH wants us to love Him and others. Mysteries of YHWH teach us about Him. Ministering of angels is calling repentance. You are to vote for each member in the presidency. When a branch is not yet organized it can be done by revelation. The traveling apostles are to make the church bigger, not to run the church. The reason the church presidency and the traveling apostles have equal authority because they have the right to do the same things with different groups of people. Bishops are to be set apart by the president of the church. Offices are appendages of the High Priesthood. Brigham Young brags about not having the required priesthood to be the president of the church. The natural man does not like to take responsibility for their own sins. Repenting is doing restitution and not doing it again. On the rare occasion YHWH reveals someone’s desires of someone’s heart, it cannot be used in judgement. Two groups of authority, one for the church and one for missionary work. In Acts 15, James, the head of the church, made the decision not the apostles. Every officer of the church has a responsibility to call repentance. Scriptures become clear once you have let go of the false traditions of men. Restoration churches are not doing things according to YHWH’s words. Repent and be baptized and follow Yeshua’s example.
  • 2025-04-13: Children at Greek 7, which is Hebrew 8, is considered the age of reason and can start telling the difference between right and wrong. There is a requirement for Aaronic priesthood to be 25 inclusive years to publicly officiate, which goes along with Joseph Smith’s 24 Greek years. For the Melchizedek priesthood there is a requirement of being 30 inclusive years, which goes with Joseph being 29 Greek when the church restructured. Yeshua was acting in the Melchizedek priesthood, which is why He was 30 when He started His public ministry.
