The Hebrew scriptures are rich with meaning and depth. One part of depth of meaning that comes with PaRDeS is how people, places and things can and do represent something else. As taught in Mosiah (LDS 1:2) (RLDS 1:2-3), to become people of understanding we need to learn these symbols.
Mosiah (LDS 1:2) (RLDS 1:2-3)
A And it came to pass that he [king Benjamin / YHWH]
-B had three [redeemed] sons [disciples];
–C and he [king Benjamin / YHWH] called their names [character] Mosiah, and Helorum, and Helaman.
—D And he [king Benjamin / YHWH] caused that they [disciples] should be taught
—-E in all the language [symbolism] of his [king Benjamin / YHWH] fathers [prophets],
—–F that thereby they [disciples] might become men of understanding;
—-E and that they [disciples] might know concerning the prophecies
—D which had been spoken by the mouths

-B which were delivered them by the hand [works, perfect example]
