Summary:

Talked about when Joseph Smith got the gold plates because it gives us insights about YHWH’s Calendar. Talked about what is the new moon and how Jews changed it. Lehites knew and tracked the 18.6 year lunar cycle as shown with the Newark Earthworks in Ohio. Using the wrong calcualtions for the moon can make your calendar off by a day.

00:00:00 on this computer
00:00:02 so let me share my screen
00:00:05 um
00:00:06 let’s see get that there
00:00:12 okay so
00:00:15 this little uh csv file that i made from
00:00:18 my program that i wrote
00:00:20 um
00:00:22 recently to do stuff for the
00:00:25 high holidays
00:00:26 to go off of
00:00:28 uh spring equinox
00:00:31 new moon
00:00:32 at dark conjunction and
00:00:35 starts the day at
00:00:38 sunrise
00:00:42 and so one of the things i can do is do
00:00:45 it for whatever year i want and so
00:00:48 um
00:00:49 i got the 1827 1828
00:00:54 now
00:00:55 1827
00:00:58 um
00:00:59 september
00:01:01 22
00:01:02 right
00:01:04 you know just as the clock turned mid
00:01:06 right past midnight or somewhere just a
00:01:08 little after
00:01:10 um
00:01:11 is when he got the plates
00:01:13 so
00:01:14 um
00:01:16 the interesting that shows here
00:01:19 so you can see i have two columns
00:01:21 independence
00:01:23 and jerusalem so one question i’ve had
00:01:25 for a while about the calendar is do you
00:01:28 have to go off at jerusalem okay
00:01:32 um and so
00:01:33 when joseph smith got the gold plates
00:01:36 i believe helps answer that question
00:01:38 okay and the reason being
00:01:42 is
00:01:44 if joseph smith got it just a little bit
00:01:46 after midnight on the 21st so just
00:01:49 barely the 22nd right
00:01:51 that fits right here okay on on the
00:01:54 independence
00:01:56 um
00:01:57 point of reference for
00:01:59 when to start the day right
00:02:02 which
00:02:02 then also you know goes along with the
00:02:04 moon okay
00:02:05 now if we go look at jerusalem for the
00:02:08 22nd
00:02:09 look the day starts at the 22nd in the
00:02:12 morning
00:02:13 which means
00:02:16 getting the gold plates wouldn’t have
00:02:17 happened
00:02:18 on trumpets
00:02:22 because you see here
00:02:24 um if you go by jerusalem the day starts
00:02:27 in the morning but if you go
00:02:29 by jerusalem’s calendar
00:02:31 um
00:02:33 we had it gone by the morning so they
00:02:35 would have been at 708 in the morning
00:02:39 joseph smith had already gotten the
00:02:40 plates because he got him a little after
00:02:42 midnight
00:02:44 according to records that i have
00:02:46 come across
00:02:48 where
00:02:49 if it’s
00:02:50 in the day starts in the morning
00:02:53 and you go off of your local area
00:02:55 right or i
00:02:57 i wouldn’t say it has to be
00:02:59 like so local as in like your house but
00:03:03 as local as
00:03:04 a place that god designates because if
00:03:07 everybody just wanted to go off of their
00:03:09 own location
00:03:10 everybody’s going to be
00:03:12 different places so the two places i
00:03:14 think are valid or independence missouri
00:03:17 and jerusalem right
00:03:19 um
00:03:20 for those in the restorations those are
00:03:21 the two
00:03:22 obvious places locations right
00:03:29 if joseph smith got the plates
00:03:31 just a little after midnight on the
00:03:33 september 22nd
00:03:37 going off of independence
00:03:40 time or as a reference
00:03:44 it’s day of trumpets when he got it but
00:03:46 if you go off of jerusalem
00:03:50 uh it wouldn’t be because
00:03:52 um it would have been too early
00:03:55 does that make sense
00:03:59 yeah it does
00:04:02 so uh because of calendar stuff i’ve
00:04:04 been working on i’ve decided to
00:04:06 sidetrack on a little
00:04:08 uh calendar post about this um because
00:04:14 scriptures aren’t clear on this point
00:04:16 okay whether
00:04:18 you know
00:04:19 one just jerusalem to go off of or you
00:04:22 can go off other locations and here’s an
00:04:25 event in
00:04:26 history that we believe
00:04:28 in
00:04:29 that shows it can
00:04:31 it can be localized right it doesn’t
00:04:33 have to only be jerusalem where the
00:04:35 scriptures don’t
00:04:37 um
00:04:38 specify that i i’ve seen some claims of
00:04:42 that and when i go look at the verses
00:04:45 that people use to claim it always has
00:04:48 to go off of jerusalem
00:04:50 it doesn’t work in my opinion they’re
00:04:52 proof texting or they’re trying to put
00:04:54 their theology into the text right well
00:04:57 why would you have to go off of
00:04:58 jerusalem’s
00:04:59 time anyway because the moon you see the
00:05:00 moon and should you go
00:05:02 should tell it by where you’re at my
00:05:04 opinion
00:05:05 not even reading scripture
00:05:07 oh
00:05:09 yeah okay so
00:05:11 um there’s a couple thoughts of when new
00:05:14 moon is okay
00:05:16 the
00:05:18 two most common ones are conjunction
00:05:21 which philo do you know who philo is
00:05:25 uh
00:05:26 i think i remember the name from
00:05:27 astronomy class
00:05:29 uh okay well philo in this important
00:05:32 thing about philo right here is that he
00:05:35 was a jewish historian at the time and
00:05:39 he was alive when jesus was alive
00:05:43 and he has
00:05:44 some writings that i can show you that
00:05:46 shows that
00:05:48 new moon
00:05:49 is at the dark conjunction okay
00:05:54 where a lot of our conjunction is like
00:05:56 does that what’s
00:05:57 um the dark moons is that what dark
00:05:59 conjunct
00:06:01 like when the moon is between the sun
00:06:05 and the earth
00:06:06 right okay
00:06:08 where most people think it’s got to be
00:06:10 the first
00:06:12 sliver
00:06:13 that is an orthodox tradition that
00:06:16 happened
00:06:18 after the temple the second temple was
00:06:20 destroyed and was written down around
00:06:21 200 or 300 a.d
00:06:24 where philo
00:06:26 was a long time before that right
00:06:30 [Music]
00:06:31 and there’s documentation that the
00:06:33 sadducees and the pharisees always
00:06:36 argued how things should be done after
00:06:38 the second temple was destroyed
00:06:40 because when the second temple destroyed
00:06:42 all the records of how
00:06:44 some of these specifics and how they’re
00:06:45 supposed to be done were destroyed
00:06:48 um
00:06:49 anyways
00:06:51 so
00:06:51 um that’s where
00:06:54 the statues and pharisees started
00:06:55 fighting about things and um
00:06:58 and changed what was uh true into their
00:07:02 traditions
00:07:04 but philo is an older
00:07:07 um
00:07:08 is much older by hundreds of years than
00:07:10 the talmud which people go by
00:07:12 uh to go for first silver and first
00:07:16 sighted silver sliver
00:07:19 which
00:07:20 even the
00:07:22 the rules about having people
00:07:24 seeing this site
00:07:26 doesn’t make sense because how they have
00:07:29 to travel to go report it
00:07:31 and they can travel on the sabbath but
00:07:34 there is actually no constraint that you
00:07:36 can’t travel on the sabbath as people
00:07:39 claim
00:07:40 but um
00:07:41 let’s say that there was though
00:07:43 they wouldn’t get there in time to tell
00:07:45 the people that it was the sabbath
00:07:48 so even the rules that the talmud has
00:07:50 about reporting of
00:07:52 these that wouldn’t have worked huh it
00:07:54 was for silver or sliver it wouldn’t
00:07:56 have worked yeah no
00:07:58 which to me shows that it’s just a false
00:08:01 tradition
00:08:02 in addition to there’s an older one that
00:08:04 i think actually makes more sense and
00:08:08 oh there’s a fault the psalms verse
00:08:12 i i should know this one by heart but i
00:08:14 can look it up but it talks about how
00:08:17 um
00:08:18 that the full moon is on the 15th
00:08:21 if
00:08:22 the
00:08:23 um if you go by the first sliver
00:08:26 that would put the
00:08:28 full moon at the 14th instead of the
00:08:31 15th so it would make it earlier
00:08:34 if that makes sense
00:08:36 because time had already passed
00:08:42 you there
00:08:45 i am here okay
00:08:47 so
00:08:49 anyways
00:08:50 um
00:08:51 i figured with the calendar research
00:08:53 i’ve done the last little while i this
00:08:55 could be
00:08:56 a nice little way to kind of end some of
00:08:59 that is do a little post about this
00:09:01 event and how it’s important to help us
00:09:03 know that
00:09:05 um
00:09:06 we can go off of local
00:09:09 or more localized than just a jerusalem
00:09:11 because i you can’t just do wherever
00:09:14 um
00:09:15 because then everybody would just go off
00:09:16 with their own house right
00:09:17 i think it’s going off of sacred
00:09:19 locations in particular
00:09:21 temple locations
00:09:24 um and with restoration we know there’s
00:09:26 going to be a temple in independence
00:09:27 missouri so let’s
00:09:29 go buy that no
00:09:31 location myself
00:09:35 oh and another thought i’ve had that
00:09:37 kind of goes along with this and i’ve
00:09:39 done some searching i can’t find
00:09:40 anything
00:09:41 um
00:09:44 i don’t i haven’t found anything
00:09:47 to where that the ancients
00:09:50 could predict sunrise and sunset
00:09:56 i mean they hadn’t figured out that
00:09:58 cycle
00:09:59 they like
00:10:00 there is evidence that
00:10:02 um they knew of the lunar cycle they had
00:10:06 that predicted in fact the
00:10:09 newark
00:10:10 um
00:10:13 what’s the word i want
00:10:17 monument i guess you could say
00:10:19 uh do you know what that is
00:10:22 i don’t think i do
00:10:23 uh so i know it’s in ohio if i remember
00:10:26 correctly
00:10:27 let me just um
00:10:29 make sure i spell it right and we can go
00:10:31 get some pictures of it but it’s a
00:10:37 a whole bunch of
00:10:39 features in this one
00:10:42 place that they use to that the lee
00:10:44 heights
00:10:45 used to track the 18.6 um
00:10:50 moon
00:10:52 18.6 year moon cycle
00:10:55 um
00:10:58 [Music]
00:11:01 and um
00:11:03 rodman um
00:11:07 the guy that does heartland i can’t
00:11:09 rodman mildrum
00:11:11 rod meldrum that’s what it is he he does
00:11:14 tours there which i actually want to go
00:11:16 see one day
00:11:17 um
00:11:19 on my skin oh there we go
00:11:22 so here let me
00:11:24 just so you can know
00:11:26 about it
00:11:29 back here
00:11:34 so i’ve read stuff about
00:11:36 i’ve gotten some books about this site
00:11:38 to help better understand things
00:11:45 so
00:11:46 like here’s one where they’re showing
00:11:47 the moon anyways
00:11:49 um
00:11:51 there’s a nice picture of it
00:11:56 uh there’s a lot in this that actually
00:11:57 teaches
00:11:59 a lot of the basics of the gospel which
00:12:02 i could go over with you one day
00:12:04 um
00:12:06 but the big thing reason i started
00:12:08 looking into it is because
00:12:10 of calendar issues
00:12:12 and
00:12:14 they track the sun and the moon with it
00:12:17 mostly the moon though mostly moon rises
00:12:20 and
00:12:21 moon sets
00:12:22 but they have all the moon rise and moon
00:12:24 sets for the whole 18.6 year cycle
00:12:28 which is a
00:12:30 really big achievement
00:12:32 um
00:12:33 especially most people today they don’t
00:12:35 even know that
00:12:37 the moon has an 18.6 year cycle to it
00:12:40 right
00:12:43 taking that means you didn’t
00:12:46 nope
00:12:48 here
00:12:49 that no i’m not the only one
00:12:51 oh yeah i didn’t still until i started
00:12:53 researching this stuff
00:13:00 so i have a good and a nice
00:13:04 little there we go
00:13:07 uh video here um
00:13:12 so i’ll just show it real quick
00:13:14 so this gives you an idea
00:13:16 the complexity of the
00:13:18 the moon
00:13:37 hmm
00:13:48 okay that’s probably enough unless you
00:13:49 want to see more but that gives you that
00:13:51 that’s good yeah
00:13:53 but you you see it for one
00:13:55 it’s not do you know what the ecliptic
00:13:57 is
00:13:59 yes okay so it’s the moon doesn’t go
00:14:02 with the ecliptic
00:14:04 it goes on an angle so the what they
00:14:06 call the
00:14:08 lunar plane
00:14:11 um it’s on an angle
00:14:13 of the
00:14:14 ecliptic on i don’t remember the degrees
00:14:17 it’s on but it’s on a
00:14:18 an angle
00:14:20 which complicates things um
00:14:23 all the math with it and then also you
00:14:25 see how it’s turning and it doesn’t just
00:14:27 go around the turning stays consistent
00:14:31 it doesn’t
00:14:32 um go around with well it’s going around
00:14:35 the sun
00:14:37 you know what i’m saying
00:14:39 yeah going around the earth is going
00:14:40 like this
00:14:42 no just the
00:14:45 the plane
00:14:46 um
00:14:47 does not stay like perpendicular to the
00:14:50 sun
00:14:51 right it’s it’s staying constant
00:14:54 basically the whole time as it going
00:14:56 around but that that makes all the the
00:14:58 math more complicated but yeah
00:15:03 not that i understand all the math
00:15:06 but some of i do some of it
00:15:10 so some of it um do you know what curve
00:15:12 fitting is
00:15:15 no
00:15:16 uh okay so curve fitting is basically
00:15:19 like you don’t know the exact equation
00:15:22 to
00:15:22 get what you need but you have one
00:15:24 that’s close enough that it works right
00:15:27 yeah okay okay so there’s some of that
00:15:30 going on in this math
00:15:33 really drastically
00:15:38 so basically kind of what you could say
00:15:40 is that they got a whole bunch of data
00:15:42 right
00:15:43 and they gave it to a computer and said
00:15:45 go figure out how to predict this
00:15:48 they come up with some weird equations
00:15:50 now some of it makes sense and some of
00:15:52 it doesn’t um i’ll just leave it at that
00:15:57 i’ll believe it
00:15:58 yeah in fact when i was
00:16:01 working on the some of the math
00:16:02 equations
00:16:03 uh i learned a a
00:16:05 [Music]
00:16:06 trigonometry um identity that i didn’t
00:16:09 know uh
00:16:10 or i didn’t learn uh in
00:16:13 high school or college
00:16:15 so there’s just some advanced math
00:16:18 and
00:16:20 i know it’s a trick identity because i
00:16:22 did it
00:16:23 i did the math by hand like
00:16:25 the three different cases and i tested
00:16:28 it with the identity that was in the
00:16:31 official one and it was always the same
00:16:33 so i’m like okay that’s got to be an
00:16:34 identity that i i didn’t know about
00:16:37 anyways
00:16:38 i went and reviewed some of my trick
00:16:40 stuff
00:16:41 yeah
00:16:43 let me
00:16:44 see um
00:16:46 i still have it i even drew up a little
00:16:48 thing of all the um
00:16:51 oh i still have here i’ll just show you
00:16:52 just out of curiosity if you want to
00:16:56 uh do you remember trig in school
00:16:59 i didn’t do trig
00:17:01 i did geometry that’s as far as i went
00:17:04 well john well i guess
00:17:08 geometry uses trig so um oh maybe i did
00:17:11 some and didn’t know it
00:17:12 [Laughter]
00:17:17 so i’ll just show you this
00:17:24 so i did this to handle the three
00:17:26 different cases to
00:17:29 and then tested it with the which ended
00:17:31 up being a trig identity but
00:17:34 so there’s the three cases for the math
00:17:37 um
00:17:38 because here here’s
00:17:40 one triangle right here right
00:17:42 which if you
00:17:44 have this this and this
00:17:46 you got to go do this other math to go
00:17:48 get the second
00:17:49 triangle to go
00:17:51 go get this
00:17:53 this angle right here okay and i can go
00:17:55 over that if you want but you’re
00:17:56 probably not too interested and then
00:17:58 there’s the simple one well here’s the
00:17:59 right angle and then here’s the other
00:18:02 one right where the earth where the
00:18:04 moon’s in front of it instead of behind
00:18:07 it like it is over here
00:18:09 i worked out those three cases and
00:18:12 ended up being the same as the math that
00:18:14 was there so
00:18:15 it was an identity that i
00:18:18 wasn’t aware of
00:18:22 um i i actually kind of thought oh i i
00:18:26 i solved the little
00:18:28 uh
00:18:29 errata do you know what errata is
00:18:31 basically bug um and and code that’s out
00:18:34 there and then like oh wait they just
00:18:36 have it simpler they’re using a trig
00:18:38 identity that i didn’t know about so i
00:18:40 was like
00:18:43 anyways
00:18:44 [Music]
00:18:46 anyways
00:18:48 all the fun little details
00:18:50 but
00:18:51 um
00:18:53 i will know that they
00:18:55 from all this work that i’ve done um
00:18:58 [Music]
00:18:59 and i put it on my little sabbath page
00:19:01 in fact i’ll just share that real quick
00:19:03 but um i have learned
00:19:06 that the world’s last chance program
00:19:11 they’re using the 29.53
00:19:16 equation of which is the average of the
00:19:18 moon cycle
00:19:20 for their new moons
00:19:23 where i’m
00:19:24 doing much more precise than that
00:19:27 um
00:19:29 back i i mean
00:19:31 and i found that out by
00:19:34 um
00:19:35 looking at the
00:19:37 uh times
00:19:39 which i mean that’s not too hard but
00:19:41 mainly because i was checking out the
00:19:43 1827 that’s when i noticed it i’m like
00:19:45 ah they’re they’re doing
00:19:47 29.53
00:19:50 average and
00:19:52 which
00:19:53 will throw off your new moon time and
00:19:56 thus day
00:19:58 off it could throw it off by a day
00:20:02 because
00:20:03 the lunar cycle ranges if there’s an
00:20:06 average that means there’s a lower one
00:20:08 and a higher one right
00:20:12 so sometimes it’s
00:20:14 29.2 here let me go check i don’t have
00:20:16 that memorized
00:20:22 [Music]
00:20:30 no sometimes it’s 29.27
00:20:34 and sometimes it’s 29.83
00:20:40 i have it here on this page
00:20:45 anyways i don’t know if you’re too
00:20:47 interested in that but
00:20:49 i with me writing the program to do it i
00:20:52 i
00:20:53 am interested because i want that
00:20:55 accuracy
00:20:56 yeah for sure
00:20:58 because um i i don’t know
00:21:01 um in fact
00:21:03 this page right here that i did
00:21:07 after i wrote my program i changed it
00:21:10 because going off of the calculations i
00:21:12 got from other people online
00:21:15 they had the new moon time at a
00:21:17 different time and it made jerusalem be
00:21:19 on a different day it was on friday but
00:21:22 with my calculations it put it on
00:21:24 thursday
00:21:27 and i trust my calculations a lot more
00:21:29 because
00:21:31 there i i can you can go see they’re
00:21:34 doing 29.53
00:21:36 all the period which is the easiest
00:21:40 because basically that’s you know you
00:21:42 probably remember algebra
00:21:44 y equals mx plus b that’s all they’re
00:21:46 doing
00:21:47 is y equals mx plus b
00:21:50 and
00:21:51 with that
00:21:52 video we saw all right
00:21:55 it’s a little more complicated than that
00:21:58 yeah
00:22:00 um
00:22:02 because
00:22:03 like
00:22:04 see here it’s going
00:22:06 it’s changing its relation the cycle the
00:22:09 moon cycle to the sun look at that
00:22:14 the plane is right like right there it’s
00:22:17 different so it’s going to change the
00:22:19 period
00:22:23 so anyways
00:22:25 i i i wanted to get it as accurate as i
00:22:27 could
00:22:28 um
00:22:30 and i’ve gotten as accurate as i can be
00:22:33 there’s a little bit i could possibly
00:22:36 make better
00:22:37 but it wouldn’t change when this
00:22:39 when new moon is it would just change
00:22:42 the amount of the moon that we see um
00:22:47 so
00:22:49 so the mir the the mirror the moon’s a
00:22:52 sphere right
00:22:54 and when the light’s shining on it here
00:22:57 and we’re looking at it here
00:22:59 um
00:23:01 with all the
00:23:02 the trig that’s going on
00:23:05 even though let’s say it’s like
00:23:07 75 percent you won’t this what you see
00:23:11 with your eye won’t be 75 if that makes
00:23:13 sense
00:23:15 i’m probably not explaining it very well
00:23:18 um
00:23:18 [Music]
00:23:20 um
00:23:23 uh oh but like the sign and cosine
00:23:25 cycles right they’re incurs like this
00:23:28 right
00:23:30 yeah you remember that
00:23:32 i think so
00:23:34 that happens because of the nature of
00:23:36 the circle and the way that you look at
00:23:37 it and the same relationship happens
00:23:39 with us our the site that we have on the
00:23:43 part of the moon that has the light
00:23:45 and its cycle for like example
00:23:48 uh new moon day
00:23:50 i mean if you don’t actually oh no i not
00:23:53 new moon day i mean um
00:23:55 [Music]
00:23:56 full moon
00:23:58 just looking by the naked eye it looks
00:24:00 like full moon is longer than it
00:24:02 actually is and a lot of that is because
00:24:05 of that
00:24:07 sine and cosine cycle
00:24:10 at the apex it looks like it lasts
00:24:12 longer
00:24:14 visually
00:24:16 and especially when it gets converted
00:24:17 into the
00:24:19 um the fraction that we actually see it
00:24:21 looks like it’s there longer than it
00:24:23 actually
00:24:24 is
00:24:25 um which
00:24:26 is an argument that i have against uh
00:24:29 the new moon being the full moon because
00:24:32 you you you can’t tell
00:24:34 by your eyes your neck your your eyes
00:24:37 alone that when it is um
00:24:40 anyways
00:24:41 um
00:24:43 yeah
00:24:45 so that
00:24:46 anyways
00:24:48 i could show you math but you probably
00:24:51 wouldn’t be too interested and like i
00:24:52 said i i can’t explain it all i can
00:24:55 explain some of it
00:24:57 but every single little bit i i don’t
00:24:59 understand at all
00:25:01 um but that’s okay
00:25:02 i don’t need to
00:25:06 all right you just this is something you
00:25:07 just do or die
00:25:09 yeah
00:25:11 yeah
00:25:12 well i’m gonna have to bow out she’s
00:25:14 going to lay enough meat up on my head
00:25:15 now let’s leave okay all right well
00:25:18 hopefully i’ll be able to see you again
00:25:19 next week
00:25:20 okay you have a good week thank you take
00:25:22 care
00:25:23 bye
