One image that YHWH and the holy prophets use to describe the law / Torah is light. The reason YHWH and the holy prophets do this is because you need light to see things to know what is going on. This truth is true for physical light, it is also true for spiritual light. Spiritual light is to let you know what is true and right which is Yeshua’s / Jesus’ law / Torah.

Here are some verses from the Tanak / Old Testament that shows that light points to Torah.

Psalm 119:105
A Thy [YHWH] word [Torah] is a LAMP [LIGHT] unto my FEET [PATH],
B and a LIGHT [Torah] unto my PATH.

Proverbs 4:18-19
AA 18 But the PATH [TORAH] of the just is as the SHINING LIGHT,
AB that SHINETH more and more unto the PERFECT [JUDGEMENT] DAY.
BA 19 The way of the wicked is as darkness:
BB they know not at what they stumble.

Proverbs 6:23
A For the COMMANDMENT is a LAMP;
B and the LAW [Torah] IS LIGHT;
C and REPROOFS of INSTRUCTION are the way of life:

Isaiah 8:20
A To the LAW [Torah] and to the testimony:
-B if they speak not according to this word,
A it is because there is no LIGHT in them.

Isaiah 51:4 [2 Nephi (LDS 8:4)(RLDS 5:75-76)]
AAA 4 Hearken [obey] unto Me [YHWH],
AAB My [YHWH] people;
ABA and give ear [obey] unto Me [YHWH],
ABB O My [YHWH] nation [people]:
BA for a law [Torah] shall proceed from Me [YHWH],
B-B and I [YHWH] will make My [YHWH] judgment [Torah]
BA to rest [righteous] for a light [understanding / Torah] of the people.

Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:6 connects light with Torah by stating light shines in the same place where Torah is to be written.

2 Corinthians 4:6
A 6 For God [Elohim],
-B who commanded the light [Torah] to shine [come] out of darkness,
–C hath shined in our hearts [were Torah is to be written],
-B to give the light [Torah] of the knowledge of the glory of God [Elohim]
A in the face of Jesus [Yeshua] Christ [Messiah].

Deuteronomy 6:6
A 6 And these words [verse 1: commandments + statutes + judgements = Torah] [from YHWH],
B which I [Moses] command [repeat] thee this day,
C shall be in thine heart:

Using light to point to Torah continues in the Book of Mormon. Nowing that light means Torah makes Moroni (LDS 7)(RLDS 7) easy to understand why it is easy to judge right from wrong with the light, because the light, which is Torah, has been written down, see All Things We Should DO for more information about Moroni (LDS 7)(RLDS 7) with regards to light and Torah.

2 Nephi (LDS 26:10)(RLDS 11:74-76) And when these things have passed away a speedy destruction [punishment] cometh unto my people; for, notwithstanding the pains of my soul, I have seen it; wherefore, I know that it shall come to pass; and they sell themselves for naught [wickedness]; for, for the reward of their pride and their foolishness [wickedness] they shall reap destruction [punishment]; for because they yield unto the devil and choose works of darkness [wickedness / sin] rather than light [righteousness, Torah], therefore they must go down to hell.

Alma (LDS 9:23)(RLDS 7:35-36) And now behold I say unto you, that if this people, who have received so many blessings from the hand of the Lord [YHWH], should transgress [sin] contrary to the LIGHT [TORAH] and knowledge which they do have, I say unto you that if this be the case, that if they should fall into transgression [sin], it would be far more tolerable for the Lamanites than for them.

Alma (LDS 19:6)(RLDS 12:132-135) Now, this was what Ammon desired, for he knew that king Lamoni was under the power of God [Elohim]; he knew that the dark veil of unbelief [sin] was being cast away from his mind, and the LIGHT [TORAH] which did LIGHT [TORAH] up his mind [where Torah is be], which was the LIGHT [TORAH] of the glory of God [Elohim], which was a marvelous LIGHT [TORAH] of His [YHWH] goodness [righteousness]—yea, this LIGHT [TORAH] had infused such joy [peace] into his soul, the cloud of darkness [wickedness] having been dispelled, and that the light [Torah] of everlasting life [baptism of Holy Spirit / Torah] was lit up in his soul, yea, he knew that this had overcome his natural frame, and he was carried away in God [Elohim]—

Helaman (LDS 13:29)(RLDS 5:40) O ye wicked and ye perverse generation; ye hardened and ye stiffnecked people, how long will ye suppose that the Lord [YHWH] will suffer you? Yea, how long will ye suffer yourselves to be led by foolish and blind guides? Yea, how long will ye choose darkness [wickedness / sin] rather than LIGHT [RIGHTEOUS / TORAH]?

Moroni (LDS 7:18-19)(RLDS 7:17-18)
A 18 And now, my brethren, seeing that ye know the LIGHT [TORAH] by which ye may JUDGE,
-B which LIGHT [TORAH] is the LIGHT [TORAH] of Christ [Messiah],
–C see that ye do not judge wrongfully [incorrectly];
—D for with that same judgment which ye judge
—D ye shall also be judged.
–C 19 Wherefore, I beseech of you, brethren, that ye should search diligently
-B in the LIGHT [TORAH] of Christ [the Messiah]
AA that ye may KNOW GOOD FROM EVIL;
A-B and if ye will lay hold upon every good thing [law / Torah],
A-B and condemn it [singular] not,
AA ye certainly will be a child [follower] of Christ [Messiah].

YHWH also continues this with the revelations given through the holy prophet Joseph Smith which are in the Doctrine and Covenants. YHWH also reveals Torah in the Doctrine and Covenants as Torah in the Doctrine and Covenants shows.

D&C (LDS 84:45)(RLDS 83) (1835 4)(1844)
A For the WORD [TORAH] of the Lord [YHWH] is truth,
-B and whatsoever is truth is LIGHT [TORAH],
-B and whatsoever is LIGHT [TORAH] is Spirit [Behavior / Torah],
A even the Spirit [Behavior / Torah] of Jesus [Yeshua] Christ [Messiah].

D&C (LDS 88:13)(RLDS 85)(1835 7)(1844 7)
AA 13 The LIGHT [TORAH] which is in all things,
A-B which giveth life to all things,
AA which is the LAW [TORAH] by which all things are GOVERNED [LAW / TORAH],
-B even the power [Torah] of God [Elohim]
AA Who [YHWH] sitteth upon His [YHWH] throne,
A-B Who [YHWH] is in the bosom of eternity,
AA Who [YHWH] is in the midst of all things.
