Psalm 119 an Exposition of Torah

Psalm 119 is a marvelous exposition and chiasmus of YHWH’s Elohim Torah, which is the literal Hebrew word that gets translated into English by Christians to law and by Jews to instruction. Every single AB couplet refences the law / Torah in one way or another. Not every AB couplet mentions the word law / Torah, but the AB couplets do use other key words that point to the law / Torah.

Three important words that directly point to the law / Torah are statutes, judgments and commandments. Before we look at these three words and how they point to the law / Torah, I want to point out the words performances and ordinances points to the Law of Moses which is something different, primarily the two daily lambs that were given because of disobediance I show in depth at Law of Moses.

First lets look at the English word statute. The 1828 Webster’s Dictionary defines STATUTE as a binding law or a rule. According to Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible pages 1108 – 1109 the Engilsh word “statute” is only translated from three different Hebrew words: 1) H2706: choq 2) H2708: chuqqah and 3) H7010: qeyam. These three Hebrew words bring out that a statute is something that must be done, something that should not be crossed, a law teaching what is right, a covenant that is made. “H2708: chuqqah” derives from “H2706: choq“, these two of the three Hebrew words translated to “statute” in English. “H2706: choq” word origin is “H2710: chaqaq“, and brings out how the law / Torah is to be written or inscribed upon our hearts. “H2710: chaqaq” also brings a connenction to covenant making in that covenants are cut. A common phrase in the scriptures, that even Yeshua / Jesus says Himself, is “awake and arise”. Awaking is coming to the knowledge of the awful situation we are in. Here I will expound a mystery on why arising is keeping Torah. “H7010: qeyam” which is translated into English as “statute” comes from “H6966: qum“, which is all about “arising to action”. The root of “H6966: qum“, which is “H6965: qum“, teaches us the action is listening, which is doing in Hebrew thought, YHWH’s Elohim’s words which is His law / Torah.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, STATUTE:
1) An act of the legislature of a state that extends its binding force to all the citizens or subjects of that state, as distinguished from an act which extends only to an individual or company; an act of the legislature commanding or prohibiting something; a positive law. Statutes are distinguished from common law. The latter owes its binding force to the principles of justice, to long use and the consent of a nation. The former owe their binding force to a positive command or declaration of the supreme power. statute is commonly applied to the acts of a legislative body consisting of representatives. In monarchies, the laws of the sovereign are called edicts, decrees, ordinances, rescripts, etc.
2) A special act of the supreme power, of a private nature, or intended to operate only on an individual or company.
3) The act of a corporation or of its founder, intended as a permanent rule or law; as the statutes of a university.

Now lets look at the English word judgments. 1828 Webster’s Dictionary defines JUDGMENT as using our mind to discern right from wrong. Moroni (LDS 7:14-19) (RLDS 7:12-18) shows that making judgements is to decern what is right and wrong by the light which is Torah see ALL Things You Should DO. 1828 Webster’s Dictionary also defines JUDGMENT as determination / decision. Which is what making a plan is all about. “H4941: mishpat“, which is by far the most common word translated to judgements in English from Hebrew see Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible pages 594 – 595, is also translated to “plan” and other words such as “procedure” that goes along with a plan. Along with law that directly points to Torah which is what YHWH tells us we should make judgements with. Part of YHWH’s law / Torah is YHWH’s plan of what is to be done when someone breaks His ancient and eternal perect law / Torah. This is a good demestration of why YHWH’s law / Torah is His mind and will. Lectures on Faith 5, written by Joseph Smith see The Holy Spirit and The Holy Ghost are the Same for support on authorship, directly states that YHWH’s mind is the Holy Spirit [Behaviour] / Ghost. In the Greek manuscripts of the New Testament the phrases “Holy Spirit” and “Holy Ghost” come from the same two Greek words, “G0040: hagios: holy / sacred” and “G4151: pneuma: spirit / wind“. You can see this for yourself with the interlinears for John 14:26 and Luke 11:13, showing these two phrases are translations for the same exact Greek. In The Holy Spirit and The Holy Ghost are the Same, I list sixteen attributes of the Holy Spirit [Behaviour] / Ghost in the Book of Mormon where the phrases “Holy Spirit” and “Holy Ghost” are used exactly the same. One symolic meaning of “wind” in Hebrew [crossed over] thought is divine guidance / instruction which is another way of saying YHWH’s law / Torah.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, JUDGMENT:
noun) The act of judging; the act or process of the mind in comparing its ideas, to find their agreement or disagreement, and to ascertain truth; or the process of examining facts and arguments, to ascertain propriety and justice; or the process of examining the relations between one proposition and another.

2) The determination of the mind, formed from comparing the relations of ideas, or the comparison of facts and arguments. In the formation of our judgments, we should be careful to weigh and compare all the facts connected with the subject.
3) In law, the sentence of doom pronounced in any cause, civil or criminal, by the judge or court by which it is tried. judgment may be rendered on demurrer, on a verdict, on a confession or default, or on a non-suit. judgment though pronounced by the judge or court, is properly the determination or sentence of the law. A pardon may be pleaded in arrest of judgment

The next English word is commandments, which the most obvious being connected to the law / Torah by simply the definition of the word. Along with commandmets is precept, which it’s definition should make it obvious also. But in addition the defition of COMMANDMENT in the 1828 Webster’s Dictionary mentions precept as does the most prominent words translated into commandments for English from Hebrew, “H4687: mitsvah“, and from Greek, “G1785: entolé“.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, COMMANDMENT:
1) A command; a mandate; an order or injunction given by authority; charge; precept.
2) By way of eminence, a precept of the decalogue [Torah], or moral law, written on tables of stone, at Mount Sinai; one of the ten commandments. Exodus 34:32.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, PRECEPT:
1) In a general sense, any commandment or order intended as an authoritative rule of action; but applied particularly to commands respecting moral conduct. The ten commandments are so many precepts for the regulation of our moral conduct.
2) In law, a command or mandate in writing

The English word “word” also points to YHWH’s law / Torah because what YHWH Elohim says is law / Torah. Not to mention that Yeshua / Jesus in Matthew 4:4 said we are to live by every word of Elohim when the Tempter / Satan tried to get Him to do something.

JST Matthew 4:4 4 But he Jesus [Yeshua] answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God [Elohim].

The word testimonies points to Torah because testimonies are histories of how YHWH Elohim dealt with people according to how they kept or broke His law / Torah.

Quickening is another way of saying sanctifying. Sanctification happens after as we show YHWH Elohim we are determined to keep His law / Torah no matter the circumstance.

D&C (LDS 88:34-35) (RLDS 85) (1835 7) (1844)
A 34 And again, verily I say unto you, that which is GOVERNED by LAW [TORAH]
B is also PRESERVED [JUSTIFIED] by LAW [TORAH]
C and PERFECTED and SANCTIFIED by the SAME [LAW / TORAH].
AA 35 That which BREAKETH a LAW [TORAH],
AB and ABIDETH NOT by LAW [TORAH],
BA but seeketh to BECOME A LAW UNTO ITSELF,
B-B and WILLETH to abide in SIN,
BA and altogether abideth in SIN,
CA CANNOT be SANCTIFIED BY LAW [TORAH],
C-B neither by mercy, justice, nor judgment.
CA Therefore, they must REMAIN FILTHY still.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, PRESERVE:
1. To keep or save from injury or destruction; to defend from evil.
2. To uphold; to sustain.
3. To save from decay; to keep in a sound state; as, to preserve fruit in winter. SALT is used to preserve meat.
4. To season with sugar or other substances for preservation; as, to preserve plums, quinces or other fruit.
5. To keep or defend from corruption; as, to preserve youth from vice.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, JUSTIFICATION:
1) The act of justifying; a showing to be just or conformable to law, rectitude or propriety; vindication; defense. The court listened to the evidence and arguments in justification of the prisoner’s conduct. Our disobedience to God’s commands admits no justification
2) Absolution.
3) In law, the showing of a sufficient reason in court why a defendant did what he is called to answer. Pleas in justification must set forth some special matter.
4) In theology, remission of sin and absolution from guilt and punishment; or an act of free grace by which God pardons the sinner and accepts him as righteous, on account of the atonement of Christ.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, SANCTIFICATION:
1) The act of making holy. In an evangelical sense, the act of God’s grace by which the affections of men are purified or alienated from sin and the world, and exalted to a supreme love to God.
2) The act of consecrating or of setting apart for a sacred purpose; consecration.

As I see it every part of the Doctrine of Christ [the Messiah] is connected to His law / Torah.
A Repenting and returning to the law / Torah.
-B Baptism of water is a witness of covenant already made to keep all of His law / Torah.
-B Baptism of fire is a witness you have been judged and found with a broken heart and a contrite spirit and you are then cleansed of your past sins and have been justified by the law / Torah because of Yeshua’s merits.
A Baptism of the Holy Spirit is sanctification by the law / Torah and have it written on your heart and you seek to sin no more and have the express image of Yeshua in your countenance.
Sometimes the Doctrine of Christ [the Messiah] includes enduring to the end which is keeping the commandments to the end of your life even when the world will judge you negatively for doing so. Other times it will include speaking with the tongue of angels which is simply preaching and teaching the law / Torah and calling people to repentance which is telling them to return to YHWH’s law / Torah.
