I believe in the Bible as it came from the pen of the author as Joseph Smith did.
I believe the Bible as it read when it came from the pen of the original writers. Ignorant translators, careless transcribers, or designing and corrupt priests have committed many errors.

I generally don’t look at the source text of any translation, but I do when a translation goes against something that YHWH Elohim has already taught me. We need to be careful with any translation, because translators put their own theology into their translations. Below I will show from the scriptures the principles I saw contradictions with for Amos 3:2.
Amos 3:2 is an example where translators either ignorantly or purposely mistranslated it. Below is the KJV translation. The idea that YHWH only knew the Israelites is in all translations I know of, which you can look at the page Parallel of Amos 3:2 on BibleHub, where it lists 38 different translations. The 38 translations of Amos 3:2 at Parallel of Amos 3:2 on BibleHub is one example how new translations are simply modernizing old translations and not going back to the source texts. Reading through the scriptures it is obvious that YHWH knows of more than just the Israelites.
KJV Amos 3:2
A You only have I [YHWH] known of all the families of the earth:
B therefore I [YHWH] will punish you [Israel] for all your [Israel’s] iniquities.
In fact, Amos 3 makes it obvious that YHWH knows of more people than just the Israelites as YHWH mentions Egypt, Ashdod in Philistine, and Damacus in Syria.

The New Translation that Joseph Smith was commanded by YHWH to do multiple times in the D&C, see the post The JST / Inspired Version and Only a Part for the list of these passages, to fix the KJV Bible translation. Although, Joseph Smith never corrected the whole Bible, enough was done that Joseph was commanded to print it see The JST / Inspired Version and Only a Part for D&C passages. JST Luke 1:34-35 is one of the corrections Joseph Smith made, and it has interesting implications. After Mary asked how can it be that I shall give birth to the Messiah, Gabriel, which is another name for the Mighty and Strong One which is talked about on my resource page Daniel, tells Mary because it is the part of the plan and because YHWH Elohim has power over when, where and by who people are born as scriptures teach. The other important implication is how Joseph Smith removed “seeing I [Mary] know not a man” bringing out how Joseph, Mary’s husband, is Yeshua’s / Jesus biological father as older manuscripts state see the book Yeshua, the Patrilineal Son of David, and for more on this at my resource page Almah.

YHWH is teaching everyone the basics of Torah all the time, despite many are ignoring it. Moroni (LDS 7:16) (RLDS 7:14-15) brings out the behovior of the Messiah, which is Torah, is given to all men or in other words all adults. Scriptures such as those listed below, especially 1 Chronicles 22:12, and many others state that YHWH, and YHWH only, gives us understanding of YHWH’s ways aka Torah. For those who are interested I show how the light talked about in Moroni (LDS 7) (RLDS 7) is Torah from the Tanak / Old Testament in the post All Things You Should Do Chiasmi.

With the knowledge that the scriptures show that YHWH knew more people than just the Israelites and that YHWH gives us understanding of Torah, here is my translation of Amos 3:2.
KJV Amos 3:2
A You only have I [YHWH] known of all the families of the earth:
B therefore I [YHWH] will punish you [Israel] for all your [Israel’s] iniquities.SJR Amos 3:2
A Only I [YHWH] gave understanding [of Torah] to all of the tribes of the land
B therefore I [YHWH] will punish you [Israel] for all your [Israel’s] iniquites.SJR Amos 3:2
A Onlyyou[H0853: I] [YHWH]have I known[תִּי: gave] [H3045: understanding] [of Torah] to all of thefamilies[H4940: tribes] of theearth[H0127: land]:
B therefore I [YHWH] will punish you [Israel] for all your [Israel’s] iniquities.
In addition to the theological support I gave for my SJR Translation of Amos 3:2 above, I will talk about the Hebrew words behind the English translation. First word to address is the English word “you” from the Hebrew word “H0853: eth“, “H0853: eth” means “self” the one who is talking, or in otherwords “I”, not someone else as in “you”. Next is the Hebrew suffix “תִּי” of the word “H3045: yada” which is used to designate “first person did”. The word “did” is an action word not a word denoting possession as the KJV and other translations suggest. I translated the Hebrew suffix “תִּי” of the word “H3045: yada” to “gave” because YHWH Elohim did indeed give Torah to the Israelites and the mixed multitude after He took them out of Egypt as brought up in Ezekiel 3:1. I changed the Hebrew suffix “תִּי” from a word desinating possession to an action as the Hebrew suffix “תִּי” denotes it should be. YHWH gave Torah to the Israelites and the mixed multitude after He took them out of Egypt is connected to the English word “only” translated from the Hebrew word “H7535: raq” because as the Topical Lexicon Overview brings up that “H7535: raq” is used in connection to Torah about half the time in it’s usage in the Five books of Moses. For the Hebrew word “H3045: yada” I translated it as understanding because of Amos 3:1 with the timing it is bringing out and the verses that were listed above and many others shows that understanding of Torah and thus eternal life comes from YHWH and His words and ways. I translated “H4940: mishpachah” as tribes going more with the twelve tribes of Israel because Amos 3:1 shows that is who YHWH is talking to. I choose land for “H0127: adamah” simply because of the fact that YHWH promises land as part of the covenant.

Apparent contracted from ‘owth in the demonstrative sense of entity; properly, self (but generally used to point out more definitely the object of a verb or preposition, even or namely) — (as such unrepresented in English).
NAS Exhaustive Concordance:
Definition: untranslatable mark of the accusative case.
Topical Lexicon:
Overview:
אֵת (eth) appears more than eleven thousand times across the Hebrew Scriptures, functioning primarily as the untranslatable marker that flags a definite direct object. Though silently rendered in most English versions, its presence guides readers to recognize what, precisely, is being acted upon, thereby sharpening narrative clarity, reinforcing covenantal specificity, and underscoring theological emphasis.
Grammatical Role as Direct Object Marker:
Placed immediately before a noun or noun phrase, אֵת signals that the following word is the direct object of the verb. In Genesis 1:1, for example, the Hebrew text inserts אֵת twice—before “the heavens” and “the earth”—making unmistakable that both realms are the singular workmanship of God. Because אֵת is not translated, its significance lies in what it points to rather than what it says; it is a grammatical highlighter chosen by divine inspiration to ensure that the object of God’s action cannot be mistaken.BibleHub, H3045: yada:

Below is a chiasmus I brought out of Amos 3 with the SJR Translation of Amos 3:2 and JST Amos 3:6,7. The center stanzas of a chiasmus is the focus of the Hebrew poetry. And the first D stanza is about YHWH telling the prophets what He will do before He does it. And the second D stanza is about the wicked doing violence and robbing others. Both D stanzas go along how YHWH Elohim of hosts will punish the wicked, yet He will warn them first.
