The JST / Inspired Version and Only a Part

Sadly there are some fringe groups within the restoration who are denying the inspiration and revelation of the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible. They claim it’s simply Joseph Smith’s way of putting his own ideas into scriptures. If that was so, that would make Joseph Smith a liar and a false prophet, and taking YHWH’s name in vain which is a capital offense. Because Joseph taught, as does YHWH in the D&C, that YHWH Elohim commanded Joseph Smith to do it. I personally believe that the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible is what Joseph Smith said it is as YHWH Elohim did in the D&C. As I see it the reason that these fringe groups hate the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible, like Brigham Young did, is because it exposes their lies and destroys their craft.

Alma (LDS 35:3) (RLDS 16:242) And it came to pass that after the more popular part of the Zoramites had consulted together concerning the words [of YHWH] which had been preached unto them, they were angry because of the word [of YHWH], for it did destroy their [wicked] craft; therefore they would not hearken unto the words [of YHWH].

Yes I did say that Brigham Young hated the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible. This can be seen from multiple sources. One being from Joseph Smith’s New Translation Of The Bible: Original Manuscripts which was done at the LDS / Brighamite church school BYU.

After the appearance of the newly published Holy Scriptures, Joseph III sent a copy to Orson Pratt of the LDS church, whom he had known as a youth in Nauvoo, now of Salt Lake City, Utah. Citing an interview conducted years later with Pratt’s widow, Joseph wrote:
“She said … he came home one day quite elated over the receipt of the book … Right after supper, they had sat down together, he with the Inspired Version, and she with the King James turning to such passages as he directed, and together they had examined it most thoroughly, reading and comparing, until a late hour. Finally, at two o’clock in the morning, he laid the book aside with a sigh, and said: ‘Sarah, these men have done their work honestly! This translation is just as it was left by the Prophet Joseph in 1833. I could quickly have detected it had they tampered with or altered what he wrote. I am delighted with it, and I thank God that I have received this copy'” Howard, Memoirs of President Joseph Smith III, 33. The appearance of the RLDS edition of the Holy Scriptures in Utah served to fan a continuing ambivalent fascination among the Latter-day Saints for this work. According to Joseph III, Orson Pratt, fired with enthusiasm, spoke of the New Translation positively in preaching in his local ward. Pratt immediately received summary notice to report to President Brigham Youngs’s office. Young demanded Pratt’s copy of the book and proceeded to give the elder a severe lecture, ordering him to retract what he had said before his congregation. “So the next Sabbath, poor Elder Orson Pratt, the ablest defender of Mormonism that ever crossed the plains to the West, had to go upon the stand and publicly retract his words” Howard, Memoirs of President Joseph Smith III, 33. Thus on this issue, like some others, lines of disagreement were formed between LDS and RLDS.

Despite the fact that Orson Pratt never received an opportunity to examine the manuscripts for himself, he seemed to consider the 1867 edition reliable as printed, and subsequently he used it as the basis of his 1878 revision of the LDS Pearl of Great Price. As Latter-day Saint scholar Robert J Matthews observes, “Elder Pratt showed much confidence in the printed Inspired Version” Matthews, A Palainer Translation, 228

Micheal J Preece in Joseph Smith’s Inspired Revision of the Bible — The JST at LDS Clear Doctrine talks about Brigham Young’s dislike of the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible and how the LDS / Brighamite church printed small portion of it soon after Brigham Young’s death.

After its publication, copies were sent west to all of the Utah Church’s General Authorities. It was variously received. Orson Pratt was in ecstasy and allegedly stayed up nights reading it. He even preached conference sermons from it. Brigham Young, on the other hand, felt that little good could come from the “Josephites” as he called those who did not come west (the Mormons in Utah were the “Brighamites”), and he called upon all members of the Utah Church, who had copies, to burn them. Brigham further counseled Orson Pratt never to quote from it again. Thus, in the days of Brigham Young it was an anathema to even own a copy of Joseph’s Bible.
Orson Pratt outlived Brigham Young, who died in 1877, and in 1878 the new church President, John Taylor, asked Orson Pratt to ready a new edition of the Pearl of Great Price. Orson included, in this new edition, Genesis 1 verse 1 through chapter 6 verse 13 quoted verbatim from the Reorganites’ publication, and these writings were entitled, “Selections from the Book of Moses.” This title clearly implies that Moses wrote more than is contained therein. Also included in this 1878 edition of the Pearl of Great Price were the revised Matthew 23 verse 39 through Matthew 24 which we now refer to as the “JS-M.”
Since the time of Brigham Young, Joseph’s inspired revision has gradually increased in favor with the Church. Our present new edition of the Bible published in 1979 contains about 690 of the 3,410 corrected verses in the footnotes and in the appendix. We now refer to these revised materials as the “JST,” or the Joseph Smith Translation. That part of the JST now regarded as canonized scripture includes Genesis 1:1 through Genesis 6:13, Matthew 23:39 through Matthew 24, and those 690 verses contained in our 1979 edition of the Bible.

This issue that Brigham Young had is documented in The Orson Pratt – Brigham Young Controversies: Conflict Within the Quorums, 1853 to 1868 (backup) by Gary James Bergera published in Dialogue. In the Orson Prat to Brigham Young on 01 Jul 1868 quote it brings out how the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible contradicted teachings of Brigham Young and other top leaders of the LDS / Brighamite church.

The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a rival of the larger Utah Church, published during the closing months of 1867 the post-humous Joseph Smith “Inspired Translation” of the Holy Scriptures. Young asked the Apostle to evaluate the publication for possible future use among church faithful. Pratt apparently overstepped Young’s expectations, however, when on two separate occasions he publicly expressed his personal approval of the Smith Bible. Elder Woodruff wrote of the first occasion, which occurred during a Sunday, 31 May 1868, meeting of the Provo School of the Prophets: “O Pratt [word unclear] spoke upon the New Translation of the old & New Testament as translated By the Prophet Joseph Smith before his death & it had Been Published of Late by the followers of Young Joseph . . . it was published in its purity & we felt much rejoiced that a copy had fallen into President Young hands.” [Wilford Woodruff Journal, 31 May 1868] Three weeks later, Pratt addressed the same group of priesthood holders. Brigham Young attended this session, and, following Pratt’s few remarks, “bore testimony in strong terms that Joseph did not finish the New Translation of the old & New Testament which young Joseph had lately published.” [Wilford Woodruff Journal, 20 Jun 1868] Eleven days later, sensing the possibility of renewed conflict and its inevitable misunderstanding, Pratt once again addressed to [Brigham] Young an unusually to-the-point, compassionate letter acknowledging not only their disagreement about the Smith translation, but all past differences of opinion, belief and doctrine.
I am deeply sensible that I have greatly sinned against you, and against my brethren of the school, and against God, in foolishly trying to justify myself in advocating ideas [JST], opposed to these which have been introduced by the highest authorities of the Church, and accepted by the Saints. I numbly ask you and the school to forgive me. Hereafter, through the grace of God assisting me, I am determined to be one with you, and never be found opposing [JST] anything that comes through the [supposed] legitimate order of the Priesthood, Knowing tnat it is perfectly right for me to humbly submit, in all matters of doctrine and principle, my judgement to those whose right it is by divine appointment, to receive revelations and guide the Church. [Orson Prat to Brigham Young, 01 Jul 1868]

Interestingly, Young’s successor, John Taylor, enlisted Pratt’s assistance in 1877-78 in publishing several of Joseph Smith’s revelations which had previously appeared only in the small English pamphlet, The Pearl of Great Price (1851). In preparing these revelations for publication in 1878, Pratt used the 1867 RLDS edition of Smith’s Holy Scriptures translation as a source of comparison and correction.

Recent studies of Joseph Smith’s “inspired translation” of the Bible have contributed to a much greater Utah appreciation of the Prophet’s efforts. [Lucy Smith’s memories of the early years of the rise of Mormonism have a demonstrable degree of accuracy] The Church’s 1979 publication of the King James version, with Joseph Smith’s admendations, unquestionably helped lay to rest the majority of Brigham Young’s [unfounded] reservations. Even Lucy Mack Smith has been largely vindicated in modern research. [Lucy Smith’s memories of the early years of the rise of Mormonism have a demonstrable degree of accuracy]

This forceful reaction by Brigham Young is very telling for me. It shows his controlling nature, my way or the high way, and how he could not show from the scriptures how he thought it was wrong. His behaviour is not in line with what is taught in D&C (LDS 121:36-46), in fact it’s the exact opposite. Not to mention it shows how out of tune with the Holy Spirit, Brigham Young was because he rejected the words that were in YHWH’s own bosom, see D&C (LDS 35:20) (RLDS 34) (1833 37) (1835 11) (1844 11).

For me, it’s easy to see why Brigham Young and these fringe groups don’t like the JST / Inspired Tranlation / New Translation of the Bible. It is because it exposes their false doctrines that they love more than the word of YHWH and thus by extention YHWH Himself. One example of this with Brigham Young and the LDS / Brighamite church is tithing. Not long after Joseph Smith’s murder, which I believe Brigham Young helped with as prophecied in Joseph Smith’s Last Dream, Brigham Young raised tithing from 10 percent of SURPLUS to 10 percent of gross / everything and exempted himself and his cohorts. Considering that Joseph Smith taught that if someone contradicted the scriptures, like what Brigham Young did with the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible, we are to remove them from the church, no wonder Brigham Young wanted to burn all the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible because it exposed his covetous heart, which is simply taught against in Torah.

In August 1844 the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles issued an epistle which required all Mormons to immediately pay ‘a tenth of all their property and money . . . and then let them continue to pay in a tenth of their income from that time forth.’ There was no exemption for Mormons who had already paid one-tenth of their property upon conversion.11 In January 1845 a Quorum of Twelve’s epistle reemphasized ‘the duty of all saints to tithe themselves one-tenth of all they possess when they enter into the new and everlasting covenant: and then one-tenth of their interest, or income, yearly afterwards. [History of the Church, 7:358] However, two weeks later the Twelve voted to exempt themselves, the two general bishops Newel K. Whitney and George Miller, and the Nauvoo Temple Committee from any obligation to pay tithing. This was due to their services to the church. [Heber C. Kimball diary, 29 Jan. 1845, in Stanley B. Kimball, ed., On the Potter’s Wheel: The Diaries of Heber C. Kimball (Salt Lake City: Signature Books/Smith Research Associates, 1987), 94; Nauvoo Trustee-in-Trust Tithing and Donation Record, 220-222 (29 Jan. 1845), LDS archives. Apostle John E. Page’s enforcement of the full-tithing requirement for the rank-and-file led to his disaffection from his own quorum. Exempted from tithing himself, Page felt guilty about collecting tithing from others such as one Mormon who gave $4 which was ‘the tenth of all’ the man and his impoverished family possessed. Upon abandoning the Quorum of the Twelve in 1846, Page complained that he ‘believes that many paid tithing & in consequence of [this, were in] want of money enough to procure misc. necessaries of life. Summary: The History of Tithing

Joseph Smith had not even been in his grave a month before the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles issued an edict declaring that instead of giving of their surplus, the Saints were to henceforth give “a tenth of all their property and money…and then let them continue to pay a tenth of their income from that time forth.” There was no exemption for those who had already given all their surplus. The new rule was a tenth of everything right off the top.
And note that the twelve didn’t pretend this change represented a revelation from God; they just needed more money, and issued a decree to get it. They arbitrarily changed the definition of tithing just because they wanted to. Apparently some people don’t understand the meaning of “a standing law forever.” Oh well. The Prophet was dead. New Management, New Rules.
And guess what? Two weeks after that announcement, the Twelve voted to exempt themselves from any obligation to pay tithing at all, not even a tiny bit on their surplus. God’s “standing law forever” had only been in place for six years, and already it was being eroded by those charged with administering it.

By the time the Saints had settled in Utah, all talk of surplus had vanished from the dialogue. New converts were expected to turn over ten percent of all their property at the time of their baptism, then another ten percent upon arriving in Utah, and ten percent more every year thereafter. General authorities had either misread the Lord’s words in Section 119, or were simply lying outright when they taught that tithing was “one tenth of all we possess at the start, and then ever after one tenth…” (Journal of Discourses 15:308, 15:359, and 16:157). The result of this anarchy was that it wasn’t long before less actual tithing was being collected per capita. According to historian Michael Quinn:
Otherwise faithful Mormons withered before an overwhelming tithing obligation. Young told the October 1875 general conference that neither he nor anyone else “had ever paid their tithing as it was revealed and understood by him in the Doctrine and Covenants.”

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, SURPLUS:
1) Overplus; that which remains when use is satisfied; excess beyond what is prescribed or wanted. In the United States, the surplus of wheat and rye not required for consumption or exportation, is distilled.
2) In law, the residuum of an estate, after the debts and legacies are paid.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, INTEREST:
3) Regard to private profit.
‘Tis interest calls off all her sneaking train.
5) Any surplus advantage.
With all speed, you shall have your desire with interest

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, STANDING:
2) Moving in a certain direction to or from an object.
3) adjective Settled; established, either by law or by custom, etc.; continually existing; permanent; not temporary; as a standing army. Money is the standing measure of the value of all other commodities. Legislative bodies have certain standing rules of proceeding. Courts of law are or ought to be governed by standing rules. There are standing rules of pleading. The gospel furnishes us with standing rules of morality. The Jews by their dispersion and their present condition, are a standing evidence of the truth of revelation and of the prediction of Moses. Many fashionable vices and follies ought to be the standing objects of ridicule.
4) Lasting; not transitory; not liable to fade or vanish; as a standing color.
5) Stagnant; not flowing; as standing water.
6) Fixed; not movable; as a standing bed; distinguished from a truckle bed.

If any man preaches to you, doctrines contrary to the Bible [including the JST], the Book of Mormon, or the [1835] Book of Doctrine & Covenants, set him down as an imposter … Try them by the principles contained in the acknowledged word of God; if they preach, or teach, or practice contrary to that, disfellowship them; cut them off from among you as useless and dangerous branches.
Joseph Smith, Times & Seasons, 5:490-491, April, 1, 1844

Another example of JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of Bible exposing lies of Brigham Young is in Genesis (KJV 22:6) (JST 22:7) where Joseph Smith restored text that goes against the LDS / Brighamite church teaching on the Godhead. (The most well known reason why the Lectures on Faith, which is the Doctrine of the D&C, was removed is because Lecture 5 clearly contradicts what is now taught by the LDS / Brighamite church on the Godhead, among many other things it show they have wrong.) Joseph Smith corrected Genesis (KJV 22:6) (JST 22:7) from Isaac, the son which is the flesh see Mosiah (LDS 15:1-5) (RLDS 8:28-32), to Abraham, the father, who carried the wood, which represents the cross. Showing it is the Father [Elohim] who condescended and took upon Himself flesh as the Son and bore the cross to bring all men to Himself. There is much prophecy and misunderstanding in Genesis (KJV 22:1-19) (JST 22:1-23), blow is a chiasmus I brought out in hopes to help people understand it more.

KJV Genesis 22:6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.

A–C 18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
A-B because thou hast obeyed My voice.
AAA 19 So Abraham returned unto his young men [prophets],
AA-B and they rose up [awake and arise]
AA-B and went to Beer-sheba [well of seven] [Heaven];
AAA and Abraham dwelt at Beer-sheba [well of seven] [Heaven].

It is well established that we are saved by the righteousness of the Son / Messiah. Yet in 2 Peter 1:1, Peter tells us we are saved by Elohim’s [Father’s] righteousness. When we realize the Father is the Son there is nothing wrong with Peter’s statement of “righteousness of Elohim”.

2 Peter 1:1
AA Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of
AB Jesus [Yeshua] Christ [the Messiah],
-BA to them that have obtained like precious faith with us
-BB through the righteousness of God [Elohim] and [even] our Saviour Jesus [Yeshua] Christ [the Messiah] [modalism]:

In support of modalism, in JST Luke 10:22 Yeshua / Jesus directly mentions “that the SON IS THE FATHER, and the FATHER IS THE SON”. Yeshua / Jesus says the same thing to the brother of Jared in Ether (LDS 3:14) (RLDS 1:77-78).

JST Luke 10:22 All things are delivered to Me [Yeshua] of my Father: and no man knoweth that the SON IS THE FATHER, and the FATHER IS THE SON, but him to whom the Son will reveal it.

Ether (LDS 3:14) (RLDS 1:77-78) Behold, I am He who was prepared from the foundation of the world to redeem My people. Behold, I am [YHWH] Jesus [Yeshua] Christ [the Messiah]. I am the Father and the Son. In Me shall all mankind have life, and that eternally, even they who shall believe on My name [character]; and they shall become My sons and My daughters.

Some people in the past and even some people today will complain that the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible was “not finished” as an excuse as why we should not trust it or use it. Athough I do agree Joseph Smith did not finised the JST / Inspired Version / New Transaltion of the Bible, he did correct many important things. After all even if it is only a portion, it is still YHWH’s word which is precious (see 1 Samuel 3:1, 2 Peter 1:3, 1 Nephi (LDS 19:3) (RLDS 5:223-224)) and was in His bosom (see D&C (LDS 35:20) (RLDS 34) (1833 37) (1835 11) (1844 11)).

1 Samuel 3:1 And the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord [YHWH] before Eli. And the word of the Lord [YHWH] was PRECIOUS in those days; there was no open vision.

JST 2 Peter 1 (JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of Bible in bold)
AA 1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of
AB Jesus [Yeshua] Christ [the Messiah],
-BA to them that have obtained like precious faith with us
-BB through the righteousness of God [Elohim] and [even] our Saviour Jesus [Yeshua] Christ [the Messiah] [modalism]:
–CA 2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you
–CB through the knowledge of God [Elohim], and [even] of Jesus [Yeshua] our Lord [YHWH] [modalism],
—DA 3 According as His [modalism] divine power
—D-B hath given unto us all things [Torah]
—DA that pertain unto life and godliness,
—-E through the knowledge of Him [modalism] that hath called us to glory and virtue:
—–F 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and PRECIOUS promises [in the word]:
—-EA that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature,
—-EB having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
—DA 5 And beside this, giving all diligence,
—D-B add to your faith virtue;
—D–C and to virtue knowledge;
—D—D 6 And to knowledge temperance;
—D—D and to temperance patience;
—D–C and to patience godliness;
—D-B 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness;
—DA and to brotherly kindness charity.
–CAA 8 For if these things be in you,
–CAB and abound,
–CAC they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful
–CB in the knowledge of our Lord [YHWH] Jesus [Yeshua] Christ [the Messiah].
-BAA 9 But he that lacketh these things is blind,
-BAB and cannot see afar off,
-BB and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
AAAA 10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence
AAAB to make your calling and election sure:
AABA for if ye do these things [Torah],
AABB ye shall never fall:
A-BA 11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly
A-BB into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord [YHWH] and [or] Saviour Jesus [Yeshua] Christ [the Messiah].
A–CA 12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things,
A–CB though ye know them,
A–CC and be established in the present truth.
A—DAA 13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle,
A—DAB to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;
A—DBA 14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle,
A—DBB even as our Lord [YHWH] Jesus [Yeshua] Christ [the Messiah] hath shewed me.
A—-E 15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease
A—-E to have these things always in remembrance.
A—DAB 16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables,
A—DAB when we made known unto you the power and coming
A—DBA of our Lord [YHWH] Jesus [Yeshua] Christ [the Messiah],
A—DBB but were eyewitnesses of His [YHWH] majesty.
A–CA 17 For he received from God [Elohim] the Father honour and glory,
A–CB when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory,
A–CC This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
A-BA 18 And this [YHWH] voice which came from heaven we heard,
A-BB when we were with Him [YHWH] in the holy mount [where Torah was given].
AAA 19 We have therefore a more sure knowledge of the word of prophecy;
AA-B to which word of prophecy ye do well that ye take heed,
AA–C as unto a light which shineth in a dark place,
AA–C until the day dawn,
AA-B and the day star arise in your hearts:
AAA 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scriptures is of any private will of man.
ABA 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man:
ABB but holy men of God [Elohim] spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost [Spirit].

1 Nephi (LDS 19:1-4) (RLDS 5:218-226)
A 1 And it came to pass that the Lord [YHWH] commanded me [Nephi],
-BA wherefore I did make [large] plates of ore
-BB that I might engraven upon them
-BC the record of my people.
-BA And upon the plates which I made
-BB I did engraven
-BC the record of my father,
-BA and also our journeyings in the wilderness,
-BB and the prophecies of my father;
-BC and also many of mine own prophecies have I engraven upon them.
–CAAA 2 And I knew not at the time when I made them [large plates] that I should be commanded of the Lord [YHWH] to make THESE [small] plates;
–CAAB wherefore, the record of my father, and the genealogy of his fathers,
–CA-BA and the more part of all our proceedings in the wilderness
–CA-BB are engraven upon THOSE first [large] plates of which I have spoken;
–CAAA wherefore, the things which transpired before I made THESE [small] plates are, of a truth,
–CAAB more particularly made mention upon the first [large] plates.
–CBAA 3 And after I had made THESE [small] plates by way of commandment,
–CBAB I, Nephi, received a commandment that the MINISTRY [TEACHINGS] and the PROPHECIES,
–CB-B the more PLAIN and PRECIOUS parts of them,
–CB–C should be written upon THESE [small] plates;
–CB-B and that the things which were written should be kept for the INSTRUCTION [LAW / TORAH] of my people,
–CBAA who should possess the land,
–CBAB and also for other wise purposes [losing of the 116 pages],
–CBAC which purposes are known unto the Lord [YHWH].
-BA 4 Wherefore, I, Nephi, did make a record upon the OTHER [large] plates,
-B-B which gives an account,
-B-B or which gives a greater account
-BA of the wars and contentions and destructions of my people.
A And this have I done, and commanded my people what they should do after I was gone;
A-B and that these plates should be handed down from one generation to another,
A-B or from one prophet to another,
A UNTIL further commandments of the Lord [YHWH]. [the commandment stated for a limited time and thus was not modified]

D&C (LDS 35:20) (RLDS 34) (1833 37) (1835 11) (1844 11) [1830-12-07]
20 And a commandment I [YHWH] give unto thee [Sidney]—that thou [Sidney] shalt write for him [Joseph]; and the scriptures [JST] shall be given, even as they are in Mine [YHWH] Own bosom [and not in KJV], to the salvation of Mine [YHWH] Own elect [sanctified];

If you think you need the whole before you can accept any portion, I suggest you rethink that idea, because through out the scriptures YHWH and His holy prophets have taught otherwise. In fact at times portions are help back on purpose.

1 Nephi (LDS 14:1) (RLDS 3:201) And it shall come to pass, that if the Gentiles shall hearken unto the Lamb of God in that day that he shall manifest himself unto them in word, and also in power, in very deed, unto the taking away of their stumbling blocks—

2 Nephi (LDS 32:7) (RLDS 14:9)
AA And now I, Nephi,
AB cannot say more;
-BA the Spirit stoppeth mine utterance,
-BB and I am left to mourn
–CA because of the unbelief,
–C-B and the wickedness,
–C-B and the ignorance,
–CA and the stiffneckedness of men;
-BA for they will not search knowledge [Torah],
-BB nor understand great knowledge [Torah],
AA when it is given unto them in plainness [Torah],
AB even as plain [Torah] as word can be.

2 Nephi (LDS 33:2) (RLDS 15:2) But behold, there are many that harden their hearts against the Holy Spirit, that it hath no place in them; wherefore, they cast many things away which are WRITTEN and esteem them as things of naught.

Alma (LDS 12:9-11) (RLDS 9:15-21)
9 And now Alma began to expound these things unto him [Zeezrom], saying:
AA It is given unto many to know the mysteries of God [Elohim];
A-B nevertheless they are laid under a strict command
A–C that they shall not impart
A–C only according to the portion of His [YHWH] word
A-B which He [YHWH] doth grant unto the children of men,
AA according to the heed and diligence which they give unto Him [YHWH].
BA 10 And therefore, he that will harden his heart,
BB the same receiveth the lesser portion of the word;
AA and he that will not harden his heart,
A-B to him is given the greater portion of the word,
A-B until it is given unto him to know the mysteries of God [Elohim]
AA until he know them in full.
BA 11 And they that will harden their hearts,
B-B to them is given the lesser portion of the word
B–C until they know nothing concerning His mysteries;
B–C and then they are taken captive by the devil,
B-B and led by his will down to destruction.
BA Now this is what is meant by the chains of hell.

3 Nephi (LDS 26:6-12) (RLDS 12:1-6)
A 6 And now there cannot be written in this book even a hundredth part
-BAA of the things which Jesus [Yeshua] did truly teach unto the people;
-BA-B 7 But behold the [small] plates of Nephi
-BA-B do contain the more part of the things which
-BAA He [Yeshua] taught the people.
-BB 8 And these things have I [Mormon] written,
–C which are a lesser part of the things which He [Yeshua] taught the people;
—DA and I [Mormon] have written them to the intent
—DB that they may be brought again unto this people,
—-EA from [through] the Gentiles,
—-EB according to the words which Jesus [Yeshua] hath spoken.
—–FA 9 And when they shall have received this,
—–FB which is expedient that they should have first,
—-EA to try their faith,
—-EB and if it shall so be that they shall believe these things
—DA then shall the greater things [small plates]
—DB be made manifest unto them.
–C 10 And if it so be that they will not believe these things [lesser],
-BAA then shall the greater things [small plates] be withheld from them,
-BA-B unto their condemnation.
-BA–C 11 Behold, I [Mormon] was about to write them [greater things],
-BA–C all which were engraven upon the [small] plates of Nephi,
-BA-B but the Lord [YHWH] forbade it, saying:
-BAA I [YHWH] will try the faith of My [YHWH] people.
-BBA 12 Therefore I, Mormon,
-BB-B do write the things which
-BB-B have been commanded me of the Lord [YHWH].
-BBA And now I, Mormon, make an end of my sayings,
A and proceed to write the things which have been commanded me [Mormon].

Ether (LDS 4:1-7) (RLDS 1:994-101)
AA 1 And the Lord [YHWH] commanded the brother of Jared
AB to go down out of the mount from the presence of the Lord [YHWH],
AC and write the things which he had seen;
-BA and they were forbidden to come unto the children of men
-B-B until after that he [YHWH] should be lifted up upon the cross;
-B–C and for this cause did king Mosiah keep them,
-B-B that they should not come unto the world
-BA until after Christ [the Messiah] should show himself unto his [YHWH] people.
–CA 2 And after Christ [the Messiah] truly had showed Himself [Yeshua] unto His [Yeshua] people
–CB He [Yeshua] commanded that they should be made manifest.
—D 3 And now, after that, they have all dwindled in unbelief;
—-E and there is none save it be the Lamanites,
—D and they have rejected the gospel of Christ [the Messiah];
–CA therefore I am commanded that I should hide them up again in the earth.
–C-BA 4 Behold, I have written upon these plates the very things which the brother of Jared saw;
–C-BB and there never were greater things made manifest
–C-BC than those which were made manifest unto the brother of Jared.
–C–CA 5 Wherefore the Lord [YHWH] hath commanded me to write them;
–C–CB and I have written them.
–C-BA And He [YHWH] commanded me that I should seal them up;
–C-BB and He [YHWH] also hath commanded that I should seal up the interpretation thereof;
–C-BC wherefore I have sealed up the interpreters,
–CA according to the commandment of the Lord [YHWH].
-BAA 6 For the Lord [YHWH] said unto me: They shall not go forth unto the Gentiles
-BAB until the day that they shall repent of their iniquity,
-BAC and become clean before the Lord [YHWH].
-BBA 7 And in that day that they shall exercise faith in Me [YHWH], saith the Lord [YHWH],
-BBB even as the brother of Jared did,
-BBC that they may become sanctified in Me [Yeshua],
AAA then will I [YHWH] manifest unto them the things which the brother of Jared saw,
AAB even to the unfolding unto them all My [YHWH] revelations,
A-BA saith Jesus [Yeshua] Christ, the Son of God [Elohim],
A-BB the Father of the heavens and of the earth,
AAA and all things
AAB that in them are.

Ether (LDS 13:13) (RLDS 6:14) And I was ABOUT TO WRITE MORE, but I am FORBIDDEN; but great and marvelous were the prophecies of Ether; but they esteemed him as naught, and cast him out; and he hid himself in the cavity of a rock by day, and by night he went forth viewing the things which should come upon the people.

I completed the translation and review of the New Testament on the 2nd of February, 1833, and sealed [confirmed / strengthened] it up, no more to be opened [revealed] till it arrived in Zion.

If missing a portion of something means we have to ignore it all, that would mean we would have to discard the Bible. (Just so everyone knows where I stand on this issue, I don’t believe that is the case, I study the Bible daily, including the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation.) Because the Bible itself mentions we should get further clarifications from writings that is no longer part of it.

The Book of Mormon brings out how we don’t have the words of Zenock, Neum, or Zenos which were prophets that the Israelites knew of during the time of king Zedekiah and the holy prophet Jeremiah.

1 Nephi (LDS 19:10) (RLDS 5:239-244) And the God [Elohim] of our fathers, who were led out of Egypt, out of bondage, and also were preserved in the wilderness by Him [Elohim], yea, the God [Elohim] of Abraham, and of Isaac, and the God [Elohim] of Jacob, yieldeth Himself [Elohim], according to the words of the angel, as a man, into the hands of wicked men, to be lifted up, according to the words of ZENOCK, and to be crucified, according to the words of NEUM, and to be buried in a sepulchre, according to the words of ZENOS, which he spake concerning the three days of darkness, which should be a sign given of his death unto those who should inhabit the isles of the sea, more especially given unto those who are of the house of Israel.

Jacob (LDS 5:1) (RLDS 3:30) Behold, my brethren, do ye not remember to have read the words of the prophet ZENOS, which he spake unto the house of Israel, saying:

Jacob (LDS 6:1) (RLDS 4:1-2) And now, behold, my brethren, as I said unto you that I would prophesy, behold, this is my prophecy-that the things which this prophet ZENOS spake, concerning the house of Israel, in the which he likened them unto a tame olive tree, must surely come to pass.

If we needed the whole before we could accept any part, then you can’t accept the Book of Mormon. Many people know how Joseph Smith lost the 116 pages of the book of Lehi which is from the large plates. Joseph Smith was not allowed to translate again the 116 pages that was lost, meaning we don’t have any of the Book of Lehi from the large plates of what the majority of the current Book of Mormon came from. We also don’t have atleast one chapter of Mosiah because it was on the lost 116 pages. Someone holding to we need the whole to accept any would either need to reject everything from Mosiah or Words of Mormon, depending what you think if Words of Mormon is part of Mosiah or not, to the end of the Book of Mormon, or at minimum need to reject the book of Mosiah because the first chapter on the manuscripts is chapter 3, which was changed to chapter 1.

D&C (LDS 3:12) (RLDS 2) (1833 2) (1835 30) (1844 30) And when thou deliveredst up that which God [Elohim] had given thee [Joseph] sight and power to translate, thou [Joseph] deliveredst [116 pages] up that which was sacred into the hands of a wicked man,

D&C (LDS 10:1,3,8-9,38) (RLDS 3) (1833 9) (1835 36) (1844 36)
1 Now, behold, I [YHWH] say unto you [Joseph], that because you [Joseph] delivered up those writings [116 pages] which you [Joseph] had power given unto you [Joseph] to translate [116 pages] by the means of the Urim and Thummim [interpreters], into the hands of a wicked man, you [Joseph] have lost them [116 pages].

3 Nevertheless, it [gift] is now restored unto you again; therefore see that you are faithful and continue on unto the finishing of the remainder [not redo] of the work of translation as you have begun.

8 And because you have delivered the writings [116 pages] into his [Martin] hands, behold, wicked men have taken them [116 pages] from you [Joseph]. 9 Therefore, you [Joseph] have delivered them [116 pages] up, yea, that which was sacred, unto wickedness.

38 And now, verily I [YHWH] say unto you [Joseph], that an account [history] of those things that you have written [116 pages], which have gone out [lost] of your [Joseph] hands, is engraven upon the plates of Nephi;

D&C (LDS 10:30) (RLDS 3) (1833 9) (1835 36) (1844 36) Behold, I [YHWH] say unto you [Joseph], that you [Joseph] shall not translate again those words [116 pages] which have gone forth out of your [Joseph] hands;

We also do not have a full abridgement of Ether, so if you think we need all to accept any, you can’t accept the book of Ether abridgement we have.

Ether (LDS 1:1-6) (RLDS 1:1-6)
AA 1 And now I, Moroni, proceed to give an account
AB of those ancient inhabitants who were destroyed by the hand of the Lord [YHWH]
AC upon the face of this north country.
-B 2 And I take mine account from the twenty and four plates
–C which were found by the people of Limhi,
—D which is called the Book of Ether.
—-EA 3 And as I suppose [believe] that the first part of this record,
—-EB which speaks concerning the creation of the world,
—-EC and also of Adam,
—–FA and an account from that time even to the great tower,
—–FB and whatsoever things transpired among the children of men until that time,
—–FC is had among the Jews—
—-EA 4 Therefore I do not write those things
—-EB which transpired from the days of Adam
—-EC until that time;
—D but they are had upon the plates;
–C and whoso findeth them,
-BA the same will have power that he may get the full account.
-B-B 5 But behold, I give
-B–C not the full account,
-B–C but a part of the account
-B-B I give,
-BA from the tower down until they were destroyed.
AA 6 And on this wise do I give the account.
AB He that wrote this record was Ether,
AC and he was a descendant of Coriantor.

Nor do we have everything that Nephi son of Lehi saw in his Tree of Life vision that the angel of YHWH, who is YHWH / Yeshua / Jesus, gave unto him.

1 Nephi (LDS 14:25,28) (RLDS 3:248,252-253)
25 But the things which thou shalt see hereafter thou shalt not write; for the Lord God hath ordained the apostle of the Lamb of God that he should write them.

28 And behold, I, Nephi, am forbidden that I should write the remainder of the things which I saw and heard; wherefore the things which I have written sufficeth me; and I have written but a small part of the things which I saw.

1 Nephi (LDS 14:29) (RLDS 3:254) And I [Nphi] bear record that I [Nephi] saw the things which my father [Lehi] saw, and the angel of the Lord [YHWH] did make them known unto me [Nephi].

Not to mention Joseph Smith was commanded not to translate the sealed portion of the Book of Mormon and thus we only have a part of the Book of Mormon.

Ether (LDS 5:1) (RLDS 2:1)
AA And now I, Moroni,
A-B have written the words
A-B which were commanded me,
AA according to my memory;
-B and I have told you [Joseph]
–C the things which I have sealed up;
–C therefore touch them not
–C in order that ye may translate;
-B for that thing is forbidden you [Joseph],
AA except by and by [soon]
AB it shall be wisdom in God [Elohim].

D&C (LDS 17:6) (RLDS 15) (1835 42) (1844 52) And he [Joseph] has translated the book [BoM], even that PART which I [YHWH] have commanded him [Joseph], and as your [Oliver, David, Martin] Lord [YHWH] and your God [Elohim] liveth it [BoM] is true.

In addition, a careful read of D&C (LDS 10:39-46) (RLDS 3) (1833 9) (1835 36) (1844 36) will reveale that we do not all of the small plates of Nephi. The first words that suggest this is the case are the words “down even till you come to the reign of king Benjamin” in D&C (LDS 10:39-41) (RLDS 3) (1833 9) (1835 36) (1844 36) in the first -BA stanza . Why say that if that was at the end of the record? Why not simply say translate the record? What really brings this out for me is in the second -BA stanza in D&C (LDS 10:45) (RLDS 3) (1833 9) (1835 36) (1844 36) when YHWH states “first part” in connection to “the engravings of Nephi”. If there is a first part, that implies there is atleast as second part if not more parts. In 1 Nephi (LDS 19:5-6) (RLDS 5:227-231) Nephi brings out the second set of records he was commanded to do was to be the “MORE SACRED THINGS” which goes along with YHWH’s words “more particular [special]” in D&C (LDS 10:39-46) (RLDS 3) (1833 9) (1835 36) (1844 36). Multiple Nephite records is also mentioned by the angel of YHWH in 1 Nephi (LDS 13:41) (RLDS 3:194-197) in stanza FB. It is interesting to note how YHWH brings out how Joseph Smith retained [didn’t lose] some of the translation in verse 41.

D&C (LDS 10:39-46) (RLDS 3) (1833 9) (1835 36) (1844 36)
AAAA 39 Yea, and you [Joseph] remember it was said in those writings [116 pages]
AAAB that a more particular [special] account [history]
AA-BA was given of these things upon the [small] plates of Nephi.
AA-BB 40 And now, because the account [history]
AAAA which is engraven upon the [small] plates of Nephi
AAAB is more particular [special] concerning the things which,
ABA in My [YHWH] wisdom,
ABB I [YHWH] would bring to the knowledge
ABC of the people in this account [history]—
-BAA 41 Therefore, you [Joseph] shall translate the engravings
-BAB which are on the [small] plates of Nephi,
-BAC down even till you come to the reign of king Benjamin [first part],
-BBA or until you come to that which you [Joseph] have translated [before],
-BBB which you [Joseph] have retained [didn’t lose];
–CA 42 And behold, you [Joseph] shall publish it as the record of Nephi;
–C-B and thus I [YHWH] will confound those who have altered My [YHWH] words.
–C-B 44 Behold, they [wicked ones] have only got a part [116 pages],
–CA or an abridgment of the account [history] of [large plates] Nephi.
-BAA 45 Behold, there are many things engraven upon the [small] plates of Nephi
-BA-B which do throw greater views upon My [YHWH] gospel;
-BA-B therefore, it is wisdom in Me [YHWH] that you [Joseph] should translate
-BAA this first part [king Benjamin] of the engravings of Nephi,
-BB and send forth in this work [BoM].
AAA 46 And, behold, all the remainder of this work [small plates of Nephi]
AAB does contain all those parts of My [YHWH] gospel
ABA which My [YHWH] holy prophets,

1 Nephi (LDS 19:5-6) (RLDS 5:227-231)
5 And an account of my making these plates [small plates 1 Nephi – Omni] shall be given hereafter; and then, behold, I proceed according to that which I have spoken; and this I do that the MORE SACRED THINGS may be kept for the knowledge of my people. 6 Nevertheless, I do not write anything upon plates save it be that I think it be SACRED. And now, if I do err, even did they err of old; not that I would excuse myself because of other men, but because of the weakness which is in me, according to the flesh, I would excuse myself.

1 Nephi (LDS 13:38-42) (RLDS 3:190-200)
AA 38 And it came to pass that I [Nephi] beheld the remnant of the seed of my brethren,
A-B and also the book [Bible] of the Lamb of God [Elohim],
A–C which had proceeded forth from the mouth of the Jew,
A—DA that it came forth from the Gentiles
A—D-B unto the remnant of the seed of my brethren.
A—D-B 39 And after it [Bible] had come forth unto them [Lehites]
A—D-A I [Nephi] beheld other books,
A–C which came forth by the power of the Lamb,
A-B from the Gentiles unto them,
AA unto the convincing of the Gentiles and the remnant of the seed of my brethren,
-BA and also the Jews
-BB who were scattered
-BC upon all the face of the earth,
–CA that the records
–C-B of the prophets and of the twelve apostles of the Lamb are true.
–C-B 40 And the angel [of YHWH] spake unto me [Nephi], saying:
–CA These last records [other books],

—-E which are of the twelve apostles of the Lamb,
—–FAA and shall make known the plain [Torah]
—–FAB and precious things
—–FAC which have been taken away from them;
—–FBA and shall make known to all kindreds,

——GA that the Lamb of God [Elohim]
——GB is the Son of the Eternal Father,
——GC and the Savior of the world;

——-HB according to the words
——-HC which shall be established
——G by the mouth of the Lamb;
—–FA and the words of the Lamb
—–FB shall be made known in the RECORDS [MULTIPLE] of thy [Nephi] seed,
—-E as well as in the records [letters] of the twelve apostles of the Lamb;
—DA wherefore they both shall be established in one;
—DB for there is one God [Elohim]
—DC and one Shepherd over all the earth.
–CA 42 And the time cometh that
–CB He [YHWH] shall manifest Himself [YHWH] unto all nations,
-B both unto the Jews
AA and also unto the Gentiles;
ABA and after He [YHWH] has manifested Himself [YHWH] unto the Jews
AB-B and also unto the Gentiles,
AB-B then he shall manifest Himself [YHWH] unto the Gentiles
ABA and also unto the Jews,
ACA and the last
AC-B shall be first,
AC-B and the first
ACA shall be last.

In case you might think I forgot about Omni (LDS 1:30) (RLDS 1:52-54) or Words of Mormon (LDS 1:3) (RLDS 1:4-5), I assure you I have not. It’s simple really, Amaleki was the last one to write on the plates that I presume Nephi prepared for the “MORE SACRED THINGS”. But just as after Moroni ran out of “room upon the plates” and made more plates out of ore to write the abridgement of Ether and the book of Moroni, the same thing happened with the records for the “MORE SACRED THINGS”, additional plates of ore was made to keep additional “MORE SACRED THINGS”. From reading Words of Mormon (LDS 1:5,7) (RLDS 1:8,10-11) it seems that Mormon created two records, which he added what we today have as 1 Nephi – Words of Mormon to his “particular [special]” record. Which has resembles 1 Nephi (LDS 19:1-4) (RLDS 5:218-226) where Nephi is talking about his “plain and precious” record.

Omni (LDS 1:30) (RLDS 1:52-54) And I, Amaleki, had a brother, who also went with them; and I have not since known concerning them. And I am about to lie down in my grave; and these plates are full. And I make an end of my speaking.

Words of Mormon (LDS 1:3) (RLDS 1:4-5) And now, I speak somewhat concerning that which I have written; for after I had made an abridgment from the plates of Nephi, down to the reign of this king Benjamin, of whom Amaleki spake, I searched among the records which had been delivered into my hands, and I found these plates, which contained this small account of the prophets, from Jacob down to the reign of this king Benjamin, and also many of the words of Nephi.

Mormon (LDS 8:5) (RLDS 4:5-6) Behold, my father hath made this record, and he hath written the intent thereof. And behold, I would write it also if I had room upon the plates, but I have not; and ore I have none, for I am alone. My father hath been slain in battle, and all my kinsfolk, and I have not friends nor whither to go; and how long the Lord will suffer that I may live I know not.

Moroni (LDS 1:1-4) (RLDS 1:1-4)
AA 1 Now I, Moroni, after having made an end
AB of abridging the account of the people of Jared,
-B I had supposed not to have written more,
–CA but I have not as yet perished;
–C-B and I make not myself known to the Lamanites
–C–C lest they should destroy me.
–C-B 2 For behold, their wars are exceedingly fierce among themselves;
–CA and because of their hatred they put to death every Nephite
—D that will not deny the Christ [the Messiah].
—D 3 And I, Moroni, will not deny the Christ [the Messiah];
–C wherefore, I wander whithersoever I can for the safety of mine own life.
-BA 4 Wherefore, I write a few more things,
-B-B contrary to that which I had supposed;
-B-B for I had supposed not to have written any more;
-BA but I write a few more things,
AAA that perhaps they may be of worth unto my brethren,
AAB the Lamanites,
A-B in some future day,
AA according to the will of the Lord [YHWH].

Words of Mormon (LDS 1:5,7) (RLDS 1:8,10-11)
5 Wherefore, I chose these things, to finish my record upon them, which remainder of my record I shall take from the plates of Nephi; and I cannot write the hundredth part of the things of my people.

7 And I do this for a wise purpose; for thus it whispereth me, according to the workings of the Spirit of the Lord which is in me. And now, I do not know all things; but the Lord knoweth all things which are to come; wherefore, he worketh in me to do according to his will.

1 Nephi (LDS 19:1-4) (RLDS 5:218-226)
A 1 And it came to pass that the Lord [YHWH] commanded me [Nephi],
-BA wherefore I did make [large] plates of ore
-BB that I might engraven upon them
-BC the record of my people.
-BA And upon the plates which I made
-BB I did engraven
-BC the record of my father,
-BA and also our journeyings in the wilderness,
-BB and the prophecies of my father;
-BC and also many of mine own prophecies have I engraven upon them.
–CAAA 2 And I knew not at the time when I made them [large plates] that I should be commanded of the Lord [YHWH] to make THESE [small] plates;
–CAAB wherefore, the record of my father, and the genealogy of his fathers,
–CA-BA and the more part of all our proceedings in the wilderness
–CA-BB are engraven upon THOSE first [large] plates of which I have spoken;
–CAAA wherefore, the things which transpired before I made THESE [small] plates are, of a truth,
–CAAB more particularly made mention upon the first [large] plates.
–CBAA 3 And after I had made THESE [small] plates by way of commandment,
–CBAB I, Nephi, received a commandment that the MINISTRY [TEACHINGS] and the PROPHECIES,
–CB-B the more PLAIN and PRECIOUS parts of them,
–CB–C should be written upon THESE [small] plates;
A And this have I done, and commanded my people what they should do after I was gone;
A-B and that these plates should be handed down from one generation to another,
A-B or from one prophet to another,
A UNTIL further commandments of the Lord [YHWH]. [the commandment stated for a limited time and thus was not modified]

The Angel of YHWH, who is Yeshua, told Nephi son of Lehi that the abominable church that was formed among the Gentiles corrupted the pure words they received from the Jews. Demonstrating the need for the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible.

1 Nephi (LDS 13:23-29) (RLDS 3:160-177)
AAAA 23 And He [the Angel of YHWH] said:
AAAB Behold it [Bible] proceedeth out of the MOUTH OF A JEW.
AABA And I, Nephi, beheld it; and He [YHWH] said unto me:
AABB The book [Bible] that thou beholdest is a RECORD of the JEWS,
A-BA which CONTAINS the COVENANTS of the Lord [YHWH],
A-B-B which he hath made unto the House of ISRAEL;
A-B–C and it also CONTAINETH MANY of the PROPHECIES of the holy prophets;
A-B—D and IT [Bible] IS A RECORD LIKE UNTO THE ENGRAVINGS WHICH ARE UPON THE PLATES OF BRASS,
A-B—D SAVE THERE NOT SO [AS] MANY;
A-B–C nevertheless, they contain the COVENANTS of the Lord [YHWH],
A-B-B which he hath made unto the house of ISRAEL;
A-BA wherefore, they are of great worth unto the Gentiles.
AAA 24 And the Angel of the Lord [YHWH] said unto me:
AAB Thou hast beheld that the book proceeded forth from the MOUTH OF A JEW;
A-BA and when it proceeded forth from the MOUTH OF A JEW
A-BB it contained the fulness of the gospel of the Lord [YHWH],
AAA of whom the twelve apostles bear record;
AAB and they bear record according to the truth which is in the Lamb of God [Elohim].
-BA 25 Wherefore, these things GO FORTH FROM THE JEWS IN PURITY unto the GENTILES,
-B-B according to the TRUTH WHICH IS IN GOD [ELOHIM].
-BA 26 And after they go forth by the hand of the TWELVE APOSTLES of the Lamb, from the JEWS unto the GENTILES,
–CA thou seest the formation of that GREAT AND ABOMINABLE CHURCH, which is most ABOMINABLE above all other churches;
–C-B for behold, THEY HAVE TAKEN AWAY from the gospel of the Lamb
–C–C MANY parts which are PLAIN and MOST PRECIOUS;
–C–C and also MANY COVENANTS of the Lord [YHWH]
–C-B HAVE THEY TAKEN AWAY.
–CAA 27 And all this have they done that they might PERVERT THE RIGHT WAYS OF THE LORD [YHWH],
–CAA that they might BLIND THE EYES and HARDEN THE HEARTS of the children of men.
-BA 28 Wherefore, thou seest that after the book [Bible] hath gone forth through the hands of the GREAT AND ABOMINABLE CHURCH,
-B-B that there are many PLAIN and PRECIOUS things TAKEN AWAY from the book [Bible], which is the book of the Lamb of God.
-B-B 29 And after these PLAIN and PRECIOUS things were TAKEN AWAY it goeth forth unto all the nations of the Gentiles;
-BA and after it goeth forth unto ALL THE NATIONS OF THE GENTILES, yea, even across the many waters which thou hast seen with
AA the GENTILES WHICH HAVE GONE FORTH OUT OF CAPTIVITY, thou seest—
A-B because of the many plain and precious THINGS WHICH HAVE BEEN TAKE OUT of the book [Bible],
A–C which were PLAIN unto the understanding of the children of men,
A—D according to the PLAINNESS which is in the Lamb of God—
A–C because of these THINGS WHICH ARE TAKEN AWAY OUT of the gospel of the Lamb,
A-B an EXCEEDINGLY GREAT MANY DO STUMBLE,
AA yea, insomuch that SATAN HATH GREAT POWER OVER THEM.

In addition to YHWH bringing out how the Bible got perverted in 1 Nephi (LDS 13:23-29) (RLDS 3:160-177), He also brings out this fruad happened after He sent the twelve apostles to the Gentiles. This timing of the corruption and the fact that in 1 Nephi (LDS 5:10-16) (RLDS 1:158-168) Nephi mentions the five books of Moses shows that the Documentary hypothesis is contrary to what angel of YHWH is bringing out.

1 Nephi (LDS 5:10-16) (RLDS 1:158-168)
A 10 And after they had given thanks unto the God of Israel, my FATHER, Lehi,
-BA took the RECORDS which were engraven upon the PLATES OF BRASS,
-BB and he did search them from the BEGINNING.
-BA 11 And he beheld that they did contain the FIVE BOOKS OF MOSES,
-BB which gave an account of the CREATION of the world,
A and also of ADAM and EVE, who were our first PARENTS;
A 12 And also a record of the Jews
B from the beginning,
C even down to the commencement of the reign of ZEDEKIAH, king of Judah;
A 13 And also the PROPHECIES of the HOLY PROPHETS,
B from the beginning,
C even down to the commencement of the reign of ZEDEKIAH;
and also many PROPHECIES which have been spoken by the mouth of JEREMIAH.
A1 14 And it came to pass that my father, LEHI,
A2 also found upon the plates of brass a GENEALOGY of his fathers;
A3 wherefore he knew that he was a DESCENDANT OF JOSEPH; yea, even that JOSEPH who was the son of Jacob, who was sold into Egypt,
-B and who was PRESERVED by the hand of the LORD, that he might PRESERVE his father, JACOB, and all his HOUSEHOLD from perishing with famine.
–C 15 And they were also led OUT OF CAPTIVITY
–C and OUT OF the land of EGYPT,
-B by that same GOD who had PRESERVED THEM.
A1 16 And thus my father, LEHI,
A2 did discover the GENEALOGY of his fathers.
A3 And Laban also was a DESCENDANT OF JOSEPH, wherefore he and his fathers had kept the records.

The Ketef Hinnom Silver Scrolls also shows that the Documentary hypothesis is fraught is problems, not to mention even the scholars know today that the theory doesn’t work. After a quote about the Documentary hypothesis are various quotes regarding the Ketef Hinnom Silver Scrolls.

The consensus around the classical documentary hypothesis has now collapsed.[5] This was triggered in large part by the influential publications of John Van Seters, Hans Heinrich Schmid, and Rolf Rendtorff in the mid-1970s,[7] who argued that J was to be dated no earlier than the time of the Babylonian captivity (597–539 BCE),[8] and rejected the existence of a substantial E source.[9] They also called into question the nature and extent of the three other sources. Van Seters, Schmid, and Rendtorff shared many of the same criticisms of the documentary hypothesis, but were not in complete agreement about what paradigm ought to replace it.[7] As a result, there has been a revival of interest in “fragmentary” and “supplementary” models, frequently in combination with each other and with a documentary model, making it difficult to classify contemporary theories as strictly one or another.[10]
Documentary hypothesis, Wikipedia

1:48:24 while pursuing my dream to find the original bible i inadvertently found
1:48:29 evidence that blew the documentary theory out of the water i met with professor gabriel barkai the
1:48:35 archaeologist who has discovered the oldest biblical inscription ever found
1:48:41 an inscription much older than the dead sea scrolls he told me the story of how he found it
1:48:47 while excavating 30 years ago at this ancient burial site just outside the old
1:48:53 city of jerusalem okay now to the untrained eye mind you that’s not me to the untrained eye these
1:48:58 look like a bunch of holes in the ground what are we looking at here this is a burial cave 2600 years old we had a
1:49:06 bunch of kids who were in the dangerous ages of 12 and 13 they
1:49:12 were from an archaeology club for youth and one of those kids was especially a
1:49:18 nagging type i didn’t know what to do with this little nathan who always had a
1:49:23 very ugly habit of pulling my shirt from behind and whenever i would turn around he would ask me silly questions he was
1:49:30 known as nathan the unbearable i i don’t know his surname when i saw the entrance there to the repository i
1:49:37 looked into it i saw that there was a rock surface visible
1:49:43 well i thought this is also looted as are the other caves which we
1:49:48 previously excavated in the vicinity i said to myself this is the place to put
1:49:53 little nathan you stuck him into the tomb yes i thought that i’m not going to see him for a while
1:49:59 so i put him into this place and told him that he has to prepare it for photography
1:50:06 after about 15 minutes i feel my shirt being pulled from behind nathan when i
1:50:12 turn around i see this uh creature nathan with almost complete pottery vessels in his
1:50:19 hands this time i grabbed his shirt and that was against all the instructions he was not supposed to move
1:50:26 anything he made the discovery of my life not his mine [Laughter]
1:50:33 that’s right um okay let’s go in there i was there already want to come in here no
1:50:38 is it clean in here no it’s dirty it is what was the discovery in this tomb
1:50:46 where nathan found the pots gabby’s crew found amongst the bones of the ancient people buried here
1:50:52 something that appeared to be a cigarette butt this apparent trash turned out to be two
1:50:58 tightly rolled silver scrolls the greatest discovery of professor barkai’s life so far
1:51:05 what’s this green mold on the wall green mold but it took them several years to
1:51:11 realize the real value of the treasure [Music] when it was opened uh we found that
1:51:17 there’s been three years about after three years it was difficult to unroll it when the proper method was found we
1:51:24 saw that it is a plaque of approximately 10 centimeters
1:51:29 in size and upon it was covered densely with writing on two silver scrolls you can read a
1:51:37 biblical passage may the lord bless you and keep you may the lord cause his face to shine upon
1:51:44 you and be gracious to you may the lord lift up his countenance upon you and grant you peace
1:51:50 [Music] these scrolls are exactly the same as the bible today
1:51:55 and they’re 600 years older than the dead sea scrolls the torah hasn’t changed
1:52:01 the tradition is good but the greatest discovery was yet to come
1:52:06 for 20 years the scrolls sat in the israel museum then in the 90s professor barkai
1:52:12 initiated tests involving new nasa imaging techniques which revealed more biblical writings
1:52:20 this time not from the book of numbers but the book of deuteronomy we discovered that there is another
1:52:26 biblical authora verse on it so 25 years after you find this thing you
1:52:32 actually find a whole new thing right before your eyes yes it was written there the great god who
1:52:38 keeps his uh covenant and his grace to uh his lovers and the keepers of his
1:52:45 commandments verse this is a verse which comes from the seventh chapter of the
1:52:51 book of uh deuteronomy and this is source d p and d together for the first
1:52:57 time remember the documentary hypothesis said the priestly writing and deuteronomy
1:53:04 were written at different times and weren’t together until the editor did the stitching
1:53:12 here on one tiny silver scroll with the help of cutting edge technology we found
1:53:17 two quotes from separate books of moses at least 100 years before the editor
1:53:24 supposedly did his work so we have evidence that identifies a fatal flaw in the documentary hypothesis
1:53:34 it’s true we didn’t find the 3 500 year old bible moses wrote but give us time
Is There Archaeological Evidence For Jesus? | The Naked Archaeologist | Parable

The find is significant because it helps establish the historicity and the age of Old Testament scripture. In the late 1800s German higher critics began questioning the date the Pentateuch (the first five books of the Old Testament) was composed in written form. Many of these critics argued that this section of scripture was written some time after the Babylonian exile.
‘Silver scrolls’ are oldest O.T. scripture, archaeologist says

Finding excerpts of Numbers and Deuteronomy worn around people’s necks for protection is further proof of just how far back this goes. These accounts were recorded somewhere close to when the events actually happened, just how close we do not know. This particular find goes back to before the events of the later books of the Old Testament had even happened yet.
This was before Nebuchadnezzar defeated Jerusalem. It was before even the stories you know so well of Daniel and his friends. The 6th and 7th centuries B.C. were 6-700 years before the birth of Jesus.
The Silver Scrolls: Even Older than the Dead Sea Scrolls

The Bible also testifies that some scripture was already written by 700 BC.
For instance, the Bible records King Josiah having the “book of the law” brought out and read to him in his castle. That is found in 2 Kings 22:
Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the secretary, “I have found the Book of the Law in the temple of the Lord.” He gave it to Shaphan, who read it. 9 Then Shaphan the secretary went to the king and reported to him: “Your officials have paid out the money that was in the temple of the Lord and have entrusted it to the workers and supervisors at the temple.”10 Then Shaphan the secretary informed the king, “Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king.
11 When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his robes. 12 He gave these orders to Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam son of Shaphan, Akbor son of Micaiah, Shaphan the secretary and Asaiah the king’s attendant: 13 “Go and inquire of the Lord for me and for the people and for all Judah about what is written in this book that has been found. Great is the Lord’s anger that burns against us because those who have gone before us have not obeyed the words of this book;
2 Kings 22: 8-13
The book of Second Kings also indicates that these writings far outdate King Josiah, as they found the old book of the law in the temple, and lamented that it had not been followed for years.
The Silver Scrolls: Even Older than the Dead Sea Scrolls

Critics who maintain that very little of the Bible is historically trustworthy claimed that the scrolls were written in the Hellenistic (Inter-Testamental) Period, rather than being genuine products of the Old Testament era (Barkay et al. 2000: 41, 43). Recently, the West Semitic Research organization in California took ‘detailed, high-resolution images’ of the unrolled scrolls, and these images have revealed features of the scrolls’ Hebrew lettering that had previously been undetectable. This new evidence was examined by a group of scholars consisting of Gabriel Barkay of the Department of Land of Israel Studies at Bar Ilan University; Andrew G. Vaughn of Gustavus Adolphus College; Marilyn J. Lundberg of West Semitic Research; and Bruce Zuckerman of the University of California’s School of Religion. They concluded that the new revelations enabled them to ‘reaffirm with confidence that the late preexilic period is the proper chronological context for the artifacts’ (Ibid.).
The Blessing of the Silver Scrolls

Advocates of the JEDP theory of the Bible argue that the Pentateuch was compiled largely from four alleged source documents—J, E, D, and P—and that these four documents were patched together by an unknown editor or editors “to produce JEDP by about 400 B.C.; and the Pentateuch in its extant form emerged about 200 B.C.”[11] There are huge numbers of fatal problems to the JEDP theory—such as, for example, that it is utterly contrary to the internal evidence of the books of Moses,[12] that no fragment of J, E, D, or P has ever been found, and that no extant work of history, or any other extant document of any kind, breaths the slightest hint of the existence of these mythical documents until modern times when it was developed by rationalists with a bias against Biblical inspiration.
The Ketef Hinnom silver scrolls constitute another extremely difficult problem for opponents of Mosaic authorship and advocates of JEDP. Why are fragments of the Pentateuch extant centuries before it was supposedly created? An advocate of JEDP might reply that Numbers 6:24-26 and Deuteronomy 1:7 existed in some hypothetical source, but the Pentateuch as a whole did not exist. This reply is fraught with the same sort of extremely serious problems plaguing the JEDP theory as a whole. First, Deuteronomy 1:7 was allegedly part of a D document forged in 621 B. C. and falsely ascribed to Moses.[13] But how could the scrolls quote Deuteronomy 1:7 before the alleged D document was created? Second, Numbers 6:21-27 allegedly “formed part of P,”[14] but P was allegedly composed centuries after the date of the silver scrolls.[15] How could the scrolls quote from P if P did not come into existence until centuries later? Third, the presence of both passages in a single scroll indicates that they were viewed as part of a single document—the Pentateuch. Rather than being the product of hypothetical source documents that have not a scintilla of extant archaeological evidence for them, the Ketef Hinnom silver scrolls are very strong evidence in favor of the claim that the Pentateuch is exactly what it repeatedly and regularly claims—the product of Moses, writing under the inspiration of the one true God, Jehovah, after the exodus of Israel from Egypt.
The Ketef Hinnom Silver Scrolls: The Earliest Hebrew Biblical Text and Its Significance for the Authority of the Bible as God’s Word

The scrolls were dated based on the script and the artifacts around them to the late-seventh/early-sixth century b.c.e., making them the oldest biblical texts ever found—predating the Dead Sea Scrolls by some 500 years. The writing form matched that used before the conquest of Judah by Nebuchadnezzar in the early sixth century b.c.e.(similar, for example, to letters found at the biblical city of Lachish).
Ketef Hinnom Scrolls

This quote regarding the Ketef Hinnom Silver Scrolls has nothing to do with the Documentary hypothesis, but it is enlightening regarding ancient Hebrews writing scriptures onto metal.

Especially interesting to note is the fact that the words of the blessing, including the sacred personal name of God, were written on silver. This sheds light on Psalm 12:6: ‘The words of the LORD [= YHWH] are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace…’ Barkay’s discovery thus shows this verse to be literally true as well as spiritually.
The Blessing of the Silver Scrolls

Don’t get me wrong, I believe the Bible as the word of YHWH Elohim. But I also know it has been tainted by human hands as Joseph Smith knew also.

I believe the Bible as it read when it came from the pen of the original writers. Ignorant translators, careless transcribers, or designing and corrupt priests have committed many errors.
Joseph Smith; History of the Church, Volume 6, page 75; Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, page 327; Words of Joseph Smith, Kindle Locations 13179-13181

Articles of Faith 1:8 We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
Joseph Smith, Wentworth letter

Some take issue with that Restorationist believe that the Bible has been corrupted as the Angel of YHWH told Nephi would happen. I can understand why many take issue with such as statement, but the question is, is it true or not. And my research shows it the Bible [book] was modified. The most precious thing that could be removed from the Bible [book] is Yeshua / Jesus and that is one of the things that those who fought against Israel did. The presentation Proving The Pharisees Removed Scripture To Hide Yeshua gives examples of how Yeshua / Jesus was removed from the scriptures after the Bible [book] was given to the Gentiles by looking at examples from early writing of men from before 300 AD where they are quoting prophets such as Jeremiah or Isaiah and the passages are no where to be found in any version of scriptures we have today or it is in the Septuagint / LXX. Which is what the Angel of YHWH is telling Nephi in 1 Nephi (LDS 13:23-30) (RLDS 3:160-177) would happen. Most Bibles [book] today comes from Masoretic Text in one form or another including the King James Version of the Bible [book]. The Samaritan Pentateuch / Torah gets forgotten about a lot in these discussions of changes the Bible [book] along with the Targum.

Were the Pyramids Built Before the Flood? (Masoretic Text vs. Original Hebrew) is a fantastic video talking about how the Orthodox / Pharisees Jews changed some genealogies in the Masoretic Text in Genesis to have a fabricated argument that Yeshua/Jesus could have not been the promised Messiah, along with a few other points showing how the Masoretic Text has been corrupted. One of the sources that is used to demonstrate these problems is the Jewish historian Flavius Josephus along with the Dead Sea Scrolls. The clip at the end of Were the Pyramids Built Before the Flood is from Errors in the Bible? where Dr Frank Turek a Christian apologist states there are errors in the Bible [book]. I have more resources like this at my Bible resource page and the Septuagint vs Masoretic youtube playlist by dinnison1 has some good videos also. Does the Bible Endorse Polygamy is an important exposition for me in that it shows that the verses in Torah people use to allow polygamy are mistranslations including a mistranslation of a Hebrew Idiom that is not mistranslated anywhere else. The video Polygamy & the Torah also brings out how Torah teaches against polygamy. All this goes along with Jacob (LDS 2:23-35) (RLDS 2:31-47) even to the point of no punishment for breaking it as I talk about in this short 8 minute video. In Gnosticism and The Word Of God Walter Veith, a Seventh Day Adventist Christian, talks about the differences between the Tepl Bible, a Waldensian Bible, which Martin Luther used, and the Latin Vulgate along with the Vaticanus both from the Vatican which sadly most Bible translations still used today. Walter Veith also gives specific examples of changes in modern translations and exposes their Gnostic doctrine source for the change in Gnosticism and The Word Of God.

I have an old edition of the New Testament in the Latin, Hebrew, German and Greek languages. I have been reading the German, and find it to be the most [nearly] correct translation, and to correspond nearest to the revelations which God has given to me for the last fourteen years.
Joseph Smith, History of the Church, Volume 6, page 307

The Germans are an exalted people. The old German translators are the most nearly correct — most honest of any of the translators; and therefore I get testimony to bear me out in the revelations that I have preached for the last fourteen years. The old German, Latin, Greek and Hebrew translations all say it is true: they cannot be impeached, and therefore I am in good company.
Joseph Smith, History of the Church, Volume 6, page 363

The JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of Bible also teaches against polygamy. As does the KJV correctly understood, one example is David’s repentance of it.

JST 2 Samuel 12:13 And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD [YHWH]. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD [YHWH] also hath not put away thy sin that thou shalt not die.

JST 1 Kings 3:14 And if thou wilt walk in My [YHWH] ways to keep My [YHWH] statutes, and My [YHWH] commandments, then I [YHWH] will lengthen thy days, and thou shalt not walk in unrighteousness, as did thy father David.

JST 1 Kings 11:4,6
4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, his wives turned away his heart after other gods; and his heart was not perfect with the LORD [YHWH] his God [Elohim], and it became as the heart of David his father.
6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD [YHWH], as David his father, and went not fully after the LORD.

JST 1 Kings 15:5 Because David did right in the eyes of the LORD [YHWH], and turned not aside from all that He [YHWH] commanded him, to sin against the Lord [YHWH]; but repented of the evil all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite, wherein the Lord [YHWH] cursed him.

Berean Study Bible 2 Samuel 20:3 When David returned to his palace in Jerusalem, he took the ten concubines he had left to care for the palace, and he placed them in a house under guard. He provided for them, but he no longer slept with them. They were confined until the day of their death, living as widows.

KJV 1 Kings 1:1-4
A 1 Now king David was old and stricken in years;
-BA and they covered him with clothes,
-BB but he gat no heat.
–CAA 2 Wherefore his servants said unto him,
–CAB Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin:
–C-B and let her stand before the king,
–C–C and let her cherish him,
–C–C and let her lie in thy bosom,
–C-B that my lord the king may get heat.
–CA 3 So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel,
—D and found Abishag a Shunammite,
—D and brought her to the king.
–CA 4 And the damsel was very fair,
–CB and cherished the king,
-B and ministered to him:

The Septuagint / LXX found with the Dead Sea Scrolls is an important discovery that I wish more people knew about. Although the Masoretic Text Isaiah scrolls found there does very closely match the modern Isaiah translations we have today. But one thing that is not very well known is how the Septuagint / LXX Isaiah scrolls found do not match the Masoretic Text Isaiah scrolls, among the same problem with other books found there. The age of the Masoretic Texts happens to be after the time that Yeshua / Jesus sent out His twelve apostles. And the Masoretic Texts changes and remove things that make recognizing Yeshua / Jesus the promised Messiah easier among other changes. Don’t just take my work for it, start studying out for yourself.

Some of the Dead Sea Scrolls actually have more in common with the Greek Septuagint than the traditional Hebrew Masoretic Text. This suggests that the Greek translators must have been translating from Hebrew texts that resembled the Dead Sea Scrolls. Are the Dead Sea Scroll texts as trustworthy as these other two sources? Are they as close to the text of the original Bible?
The “Original” Bible and the Dead Sea Scrolls

This view changed however during the Reformation. Martin Luther for one, decided that certain doctrines found therein were objectionable. In order to get around this problem, he and others within the Reformist camp chose to believe that the Masoretic text (MT, masorah: Hebrew for “tradition”) was more authentic.
The problem was that the earliest known MT –the Codex Leningradensis–was several centuries younger than the LXX (ca AD 1100).
That being said, one would be inclined to believe that any Hebraic text would be more authentic than any Greek translation, no matter how good that translation was. That would be the first inclination. However in the case of the LXX vs the MT,that would be the wrong inclination.
Believe it or not, the LXX, hearkens back to a more authentic Hebrew text, one which the authors of the MT disdained. Even worse, the rabbis and scribes began “editing” the LXX from the very inception of the Church, primarily in order to debunk the claims of Christ and His followers. This claim is nothing less than astounding and its implications are far-reaching. If nothing else, it bolsters the case for the authenticity of the Gospel; if for no other reason that the Rabbinate took that which they found objectionable out of their Scriptures.
The Septuagint vs the Masoretic Text: Which is More Authentic?

The difference between translated and original version is that the LXX has more authenticity as it was translated 1000 years before the Masoretic text. It’s still not a reliable source as it has some additions.

Septuagint contains quotations that you cannot find in the Masoretic text.

Since it proves Jesus as a Messiah, the Jewish functionaries labeled it the Bible of Christians. After the Jewish-Christians controversy, Jewish have completely abandoned it. It still serves as the foundation of Judaism and Christianity.
Explained: Key Differences Between Septuagint and Masoretic Texts

Most of the quotations from the Old Testament in the New Testament used the Septuagint as their primary source. The integrity and truthfulness of the Septuagint is completely dependent on the Septuagint being a truthful translation. Discredit the Septuagint and there is no New Testament.
There was no controversy about the integrity of the Septuagint from 250 B.C. until 135 A. D.
What had happened to provoke dissatisfaction with the Septuagint among the Jews?
Annas and Caiaphas and the Sanhedrin had rejected the messianic claims of Jesus. The New Testament documents had been written and were circulating by A.D. 70. The Jews knew that the credibility of the Christian Gospels depended on the credibility of the Septuagint. Something had to be done.
Around 95 A.D. Rabbi Akiva, who later proclaimed Bar Kochba as the messiah, hired a man named Aquila to translate a Hebrew to Greek version of the Old Testament that would undermine the messianic claims of Jesus found in the Septuagint. Some scholars believe that the Masoretic text was based in part on this tendentious translation by Aquila.
Masoretic vs Septuagint : Guns, Lies and Forgeries

Many scholars still support this argument [Masoretic Text is prefered], but the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls threw a wrinkle in the debate. The Dead Sea Scrolls contained more than 200 biblical books, including a nearly complete manuscript of the Hebrew Bible that was more than 1,000 years older than the oldest copy of the Masoretic Text, and 500 years older than the oldest copy of the Septuagint. Inside the caves, there were also a smattering of Hebrew scrolls that supported the Septuagint’s translation.

Some of the differences between the Septuagint and the Masoretic Text are as mundane as which type of snake venom is under evildoers’ lips in Psalm 140:3—is it an asp, or an adder, and does it matter? Others are more noticeable, but it’s debatable whether they have any significant impact on Paul’s doctrine.

Some will point out that Jesus makes numerous Old Testament references that clearly come from the Septuagint. Others will argue that these references are simply the result of translating Jesus’ Hebrew or Aramaic quotes into Greek, where the gospel writers relied on the Septuagint.
What Is the Septuagint? The Beginner’s Guide

Here is example of where the Book of Mormon prophets agree with the Septuagint / LXX and not the KJV.

Moroni (LDS 7:27) (RLDS 7:27) Wherefore, my beloved brethren, have miracles ceased because Christ [the Messiah] hath ascended into heaven, and hath SAT DOWN ON THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD [ELOHIM], to claim of the Father His rights of mercy which he hath upon the children of men?

LXX Ezekiel 43:14 from the bottom at the commencement of the hollow part to this great mercy-seat, from beneath was two cubits, and the breadth was a cubit; and from the LITTLE MERCY-SEAT to the GREAT MERCY-SEAT, four cubits, and the breadth was a cubit.

KJV Ezekiel 43:14 And from the bottom upon the ground even to the lower settle shall be two cubits, and the breadth one cubit; and from the lesser settle even to the greater settle shall be four cubits, and the breadth one cubit.

The Septuagint / LXX and the Ketef Hinnom Silver Scrolls are two examples of “other books” from 1 Nephi (LDS 13:38-42) (RLDS 3:190-200) that are for the “convincing of the Gentiles and the [Lehites]”. The Septuagint / LXX to give credability to the quotes in the New Testament from the Old Testament / Tanak / Hebrew Bible. And the Ketef Hinnom Silver Scrolls to help people believe in first five books of Moses in the front of the Bible.

1 Nephi (LDS 13:38-42) (RLDS 3:190-200)
AA 38 And it came to pass that I [Nephi] beheld the remnant of the seed of my brethren,

The angel of YHWH stated that the book, which is the Bible, states that the part that goes along with the Brass Plates, which is the Old Testament / Tanak, has “not so many” or in other words less than what the Brass Plates contains.

1 Nephi (LDS 13:23-24) (RLDS 3:160-165)
AAA 23 And He [the Angel of YHWH] said:
AAB Behold it [Bible] proceedeth out of the MOUTH OF A JEW.
ABA And I, Nephi, beheld it; and He [YHWH] said unto me:
ABB The book [Bible] that thou beholdest is a RECORD of the JEWS,
-BA which CONTAINS the COVENANTS of the Lord [YHWH],
-B-B which he hath made unto the House of ISRAEL;
-B–C and it also CONTAINETH MANY of the PROPHECIES of the holy prophets;
-B—D and IT [Bible] IS A RECORD LIKE UNTO THE ENGRAVINGS WHICH ARE UPON THE PLATES OF BRASS,
-B—D SAVE THERE NOT SO [AS] MANY;
-B–C nevertheless, they contain the COVENANTS of the Lord [YHWH],
-B-B which he hath made unto the house of ISRAEL;
-BA wherefore, they are of great worth unto the Gentiles.
AA 24 And the Angel of the Lord [YHWH] said unto me:
AB Thou hast beheld that the book proceeded forth from the MOUTH OF A JEW;
-BA and when it proceeded forth from the MOUTH OF A JEW
-BB it contained the fulness of the gospel of the Lord [YHWH],
AA of whom the twelve apostles bear record;
AB and they bear record according to the truth which is in the Lamb of God [Elohim].

In addition to YHWH stating books were removed from the Old Testament / Hebrew Bible / Tanak, so does the Talmud which are writings of the Jews. As far as I know there are no records of how or why these men decided what books to include in Hebrew cannon or what books they decided to exclude. But the Hebrew testaments do mention books and prophets that have been lost and forgotten about, just as the Book of Mormon does.

According to the Talmud (Bava Basra 14b-15a, Rashi to Megillah 3a, 14a), much of the contents of the Tanakh were compiled by the Men of the Great Assembly (“Anshei K’nesset HaGedolah”) a task completed in 450 BCE, and have remained unchanged since that date. Evidence suggests that the “process of canonization” occurred between 200 BCE and 200 CE. A popular position is that the Torah was canonized circa 400 BCE, the Prophets circa 200 BCE, and the Writings circa 100 CE perhaps at a hypothetical Council of Jamnia — this position, however, is increasingly criticised by modern scholars. Some scholars argue that the Jewish canon was fixed by the Hasmonean dynasty (140-37 BCE). Today, there is no scholarly consensus as to when the Jewish canon was set.

We learn of a fulfilment of a prophecy in the New Testament/Brit Hadasha/Renewed Covenant in Matthew 2:23 and John 1:45.

Matthew 2:23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was SPOKEN BY THE PROPHETS, He shall be CALLED a NAZARENE.

John 1:45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom MOSES IN THE LAW, and the PROPHETS, did WRITE, Jesus of NAZARETH, the SON OF JOSEPH.

Just one problem though, that prophecy is no where to be found in the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible/Tanak that we have today.

So either Matthew 2:23 and John 1:45 are lies or not everything is in the Hebrew Bible. Considering the prophets wrote it, I believe that part has been lost. But it is interesting to note that it was written in the stars by YHWH since Adam, see Mazzaroth / Constallations.

During the explanation of Gemini it brings out how the Messiah will be called a Nazarene. Related to this is the expounding of Virgo and the son being called the branch in the Mazzaroth/Constallations. The Natsarim The Elect of the End Times is a great documentary explaining some bad translations with regards to Nazarene and branch, see Nazarene to learn more.

The Book of Mormon also talks of the Mazzaroth / Constallations, here is one example.

Alma (LDS 30:44) (RLDS 16:53-55) … all things denote there is a God; yea, even the EARTH, and all things that are upon the face of IT, yea, and ITS MOTION, yea, and also all the PLANETS [stars / constellations] which move in their REGULAR [original] FORM [shape] do witness that there is a Supreme Creator.

It is also interesting to note that in the passages describing what the Brass Plates contains they do not contain the three parts of the TaNaK which are Torah the first five books, Nevi’im the prophets, and Ketuvim the writings (see TaNaK and Tanakh). These passages do mention the five books of Moses and the prophets. Some may see this as proof that Book of Mormon is a fraud. I on the other hand do not, and suggest before you come to such a conclusion you dig deeper. Lehi and his family left Jerusalem 600 years before Yeshua/Jesus was born. Although there is no consensus of when the three parts of the TaNaK were finalized everyone believes it happened after Lehi left Jerusalem up to 200 years after Yeshua / Jesus birth and it was called Mikra, Reading, before that.

2 Nephi (LDS 25:19) (RLDS 11:35-36) For according to the words of the prophets, the MESSIAH COMETH in SIX HUNDRED YEARS from the time that MY FATHER [LEHI] left Jerusalem; and according to the words of the prophets, and also the word of the angel of God, his name shall be Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Tanakh, Religion, wikia

The acronym “Tanakh” was not used during the period of the Second Temple; rather, the proper term Mikra (“Reading”) was used, which had a more formal flavor.
TaNaK, New World Encyclopedia

In the New Testament, Yeshua / Jesus did not call the scriptures that were written before His time the Old Testament, or the Tanak, or the Hebrew Bible. Those are terms we use today. Yeshua / Jesus called it “the law [Torah] and the [teachings of the] prophets”. Matthew 22:35-40 is just one example of Yeshua / Jesus using the phares “the law [Torah] and the [teachings of the] prophets” to point to the scriptures. The Book of Mormon does this also. During Scripture Study 2023-06-03 I bring out tons of examples from the Old Testament / Tanak / Hebrew Bible that the phrase “all things” very often points to Torah. The JST / Inspired Translation / New Translation of the Bible of Mark (JST 9:10) (KJV 9:12) in connection with the phrase “the law [Torah] and the [teachings of the] prophets” also shows that “all things” is Torah but restoring “and teacheth you of the prophets” after mentioning “all things”. Something to keep in mind with this phrase “all things” is how Torah was everything to the ancient Israelites.

Matthew 22:35-40
AA 35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
AB 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
-BAAA 37 Jesus [Yeshua] said unto him,
-BAAB Thou shalt love the Lord [YHWH] thy God [Elohim]
-BA-BA with all thy heart,
-BA-BB and with all thy soul,
-BA-BC and with all thy mind.
-BAAA 38 This is the first
-BAAB and great commandment.
-BBA 39 And the second is like unto it,
-BBB Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
AA 40 On these two commandments
AB hang all the law [Torah] and the [teachings of the] prophets.

Mark (JST 9:10) (KJV 9:12) (JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of Bible in bold)
And he answered and told them, saying, Elias verily cometh first, and prepareth ALL THINGS; and teacheth you of the prophets; how it is written of the Son of Man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at naught.

Here are a just a few more verses to demestrate that if the authors of the Book of Mormon felt more capable, they would have written more.

Mormon (LDS 8:12,17) (RLDS 4:14-15,21-22)
12 And whoso receiveth this record, and shall not condemn it because of the imperfections which are in it, the same shall know of greater things than these. Behold, I am Moroni; and were it possible, I would make all things known unto you.
17 And if there be faults they be the faults of a man. But behold, we know no fault; nevertheless God knoweth all things; therefore, he that condemneth, let him be aware lest he shall be in danger of hell fire.

Ether (LDS 12:23-25) (RLDS 5:23-26)
AA 23 And I said unto Him [YHWH]:
AB Lord [YHWH], the Gentiles will mock at these things,
-B because of our weakness in writing;
–C for Lord [YHWH] thou hast made us mighty in word by faith,
—D but Thou [YHWH] hast not made us mighty in writing;
—-EA for thou hast made all this people that they could speak much,
—-EB because of the Holy Ghost [Torah] which thou hast given them;
—-EA 24 And Thou [YHWH] hast made us that we could write but little,
—-EB because of the awkwardness of our hands.
—DA Behold, Thou [YHWH] hast not made us mighty in writing
—D-B like unto the brother of Jared,
—D–C for thou madest him that
—D–C the things which he wrote were mighty
—D-B even as thou art,
—DA unto the overpowering of man to read them.
–CA 25 Thou [YHWH] hast also made our words powerful and great,
–CB even that we cannot write them;
-BA wherefore, when we write we behold our weakness,
-BB and stumble because of the placing of our words;
A and I fear lest the Gentiles shall mock at our words.

Despite the fact that we don’t have everything the Book of Mormon talks about, YHWH still says it’s true.

JSNT = Joseph Smith’s New Translation (all the changes made by Joseph Smith)

Charlotte Erickson recorded an excellent lecture regarding the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible entitled Charlotte Erickson – Joseph Smith’s New Translation of the Torah. Below are some of my favorite excerpts from it.

00:06:48 similar to that the process of making
00:06:50 the new translation of the Bible seems
00:06:52 to have been a catalyst for Revelation
00:06:54 related to the restoration as well so if
00:06:58 you look from so we started translating
00:07:00 it in June of 1830 oh I guess brother
00:07:04 had let me borrow his laser here so
00:07:07 right here 1830
00:07:09 here’s July so from right about here all
00:07:13 the way down this page is during the
00:07:16 translation process of the new of the
00:07:18 Bible all the way down to here so if you
00:07:22 actually count the sections that’s more
00:07:23 than half of our Doctrine and Covenants
00:07:26 was received during that three-year
00:07:28 period that the Bible was being
00:07:30 translated and I think that’s amazing
00:07:32 and I think that the this part of how
00:07:39 meaningful this is is not only all those
00:07:41 sections including the famous vision of
00:07:45 the degrees of glory and section 76

00:08:02 … if we also
00:08:06 search the Bible seeking revelation will
00:08:10 receive it as well for ourselves and
00:08:12 have a strong spirit there
Charlotte Erickson – Joseph Smith’s New Translation of the Torah

00:13:33 none of the scribes who worked with
00:13:35 Joseph Smith on that process came West
00:13:37 with Brigham Young and neither did the
00:13:38 manuscripts …
Charlotte Erickson – Joseph Smith’s New Translation of the Torah

00:19:10 one of the reasons I got interested in
00:19:13 the in looking deeper into the Joseph
00:19:15 Smith’s translation is because when I
00:19:17 was in seminary I had my little red quad
00:19:21 that my mom took me to desert book in
00:19:23 the vault for me and I went through the
00:19:25 whole Bible and I marked all the jst
00:19:28 footnotes not only in the bottom of the
00:19:31 page but also up in the verse where the
00:19:32 little mark is because I don’t want to
00:19:35 miss anything like I wanted I wanted it
00:19:37 all and it was until much much later
00:19:39 that I learned that the LDS Edition
00:19:43 doesn’t have all of the changes Joseph
00:19:46 Smith made that was like a big shock to
00:19:48 me to find out that they’re not
00:19:50 in there so that’s another reason I
00:19:52 would like to distinguish between JST
00:19:54 and JSNT because to me the JST is what
00:19:57 the changes which were included in the
00:19:59 LDS scriptures and the JSNT is going
00:20:03 to be all the changes so all right so
00:20:08 the the Joseph Smith changed and it’s a
00:20:10 big difference in numbers at least so
00:20:13 Joseph has changed over 3,000 verses but
00:20:16 only 600 of them are in the LDS
00:20:19 scriptures so if you want all of them
00:20:22 you have to go somewhere else
Charlotte Erickson – Joseph Smith’s New Translation of the Torah

One thing that bothered me about the Snufferite scripture committee was their claim they made that they had more JST / Inspired Translation / New Translation of the Bible than anyone else including talks Joseph Smith gave latter but they never gave any references. I honestly believe they used The Bible Corrected by Joseph Smith, which does give sources, and claimed the work as their own.

00:22:49 my favorite way to do it is this book
00:22:51 which was integrated by Kenneth and
00:22:54 Linda lutes it’s called the Bible
00:22:56 corrected by Joseph Smith and rather
00:22:57 than a side-by-side comparison as you
00:23:00 can find in other sources this book
00:23:02 shows the corrections made by Joseph
00:23:04 Smith by putting the deletions in a
00:23:06 strikethrough font so you can still read
00:23:08 it but you can tell that he deleted it
00:23:10 and then it adds puts the insertions in
00:23:13 a bold font and then everything that’s
00:23:15 the same is just in a regular font so
00:23:17 you can literally either read the
00:23:19 regular font plus the strikethrough to
00:23:22 read the King James or you can read the
00:23:25 regular font plus the bold and ignore
00:23:27 the strikethrough to read the new
00:23:29 translation and I think that’s a
00:23:30 wonderful way to do it this book is also
00:23:34 cool because I was telling you that the
00:23:38 sermons of Joseph Smith sometimes he
00:23:40 would mention this word or this phrase
00:23:43 should have been translated a different
00:23:44 way this book puts some of those in
00:23:47 which is cool and it puts in the
00:23:49 footnote when they do that and it tells
00:23:52 you like where what’s sermon what page
00:23:54 on teachings this is my favorite one yet
Charlotte Erickson – Joseph Smith’s New Translation of the Torah

Charlotte Erickson also brings out an interesting example with the JST / Inspired Translation / New Translation of the Bible in Genesis (JST 24:51) (KJV 24:47) and how the LDS / Brighamite church has a footnote stating “HEB ring on her nose” where the Joseph Smith corrected it to be earrings. When considering KJV Genesis 24:22,30 mentions earrings, earrings simply makes more sense. Not to mention the imagery that is going on here denotes earrings also. Let me explain, Rebekah the bride is symbolic of the church of the Lamb, Isaac is the groom representing the Son who is the Messiah, Abraham is a symbol for Heavenly Father and the servant typifies a holy prophet. Camels represent righteousness and the ten camels are substitutes for the ten commandmetns which are the ten divisions of Torah that tell us how to be holy / righteous. Rebekah, who is a stand-in for the believers, finds water / revelation from dust / Book of Mormon, to support the ten camels / commandments. After believers show support for YHWH’s holy ways, holy servants invite us to bind our ears to the Fathers words, see JST Exodus 21:5-6 and Deuteronomy 15:16-17 and keep in mind that the Door is Yeshua YHWH Elohim. Apostles in the New Testament bring out how they have bound themselves to the promissed Messiah Yeshua. And all the holy servants of Yah tell us to do the same thing.

00:38:54 … in Genesis chapter 24
00:38:57 there’s this story about Abraham sending
00:38:59 his eldest servant to get a wife for
00:39:02 Isaac and Rebekah draws water from the
00:39:04 well for the servant and the camels and
00:39:06 that’s the sign the servant was looking
00:39:07 for and so in verse 47 he quote the
00:39:11 earring upon her face and the bracelets
00:39:14 upon her hands and the LDS edition of
00:39:18 the King Jiang of that verse has this
00:39:21 interesting footnote on the word earring
00:39:23 it says ah that word actually translates
00:39:26 better in Hebrew to mean nose
00:39:30 so they used up this footnote space to
00:39:33 clarify the word earring to say nose
00:39:36 ring and other people noticed this too
00:39:38 besides people that use the LDS addition
00:39:41 so here’s this little comic I found
00:39:43 online my master Abraham wanted me to
00:39:47 give you this nose ring and bracelet so
00:39:49 she’s like hmm not sure what to think
00:39:51 about that and then here’s another one
00:39:54 this is on somebody’s Instagram the
00:39:57 first written record of a nostril
00:39:58 piercing it’s back to the Middle East
00:39:59 4000 years ago nostril piercing is also
00:40:02 referenced in the Biblical Book of
00:40:03 Genesis where Abraham’s son Isaac gives
00:40:05 his future wife Rebekah golden hump
00:40:07 which is Hebrew for nose ring so that’s
00:40:11 interesting I have used this verse and
00:40:13 the footnote and good humor to tease my
00:40:15 judgmental peers who considered no but
00:40:20 in all truthfulness this is actually an
00:40:23 example of a Joseph Smith change that’s
00:40:25 not included in the Bible because the
00:40:30 JSNT actually says and I gave the
00:40:34 earrings unto her to put into her ears
00:40:37 and the bracelets upon her hands so
00:40:40 perhaps the same amount of footnote
00:40:42 space could have clarified it in a
00:40:44 different way but anyway the point is
00:40:47 that this particular verse can actually
00:40:48 be used to make the point that mother
00:40:50 Rebecca had a nose ring so I yeah I
00:40:56 thought about because I knew I was gonna
00:41:00 be talking about this when when I was
00:41:02 choosing a photograph to be on the
00:41:04 website I was like I’d like Photoshop
00:41:06 and nose ring onto it …

If you still don’t think the JST / Inspired Translation / New Translation of the Bible should be used, you need ask yourself why YHWH Elohim in the D&C three times said to publish what Joseph Smith had done, see D&C (LDS 94:10) (RLDS 91) (1835 83) (1844 84), D&C (LDS 104:58) (RLDS 101) (1835 98) (1844 99), D&C (LDS 124:89) (RLDS 107) (1844 103). Along with Joseph Smith himself he “completed the translation”.

Here are all the passages in the D&C that I know of where YHWH Elohim is talking about the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible in some way. Including three passages where YHWH Elohim is stating it needs to be printed and thus consumed and used. (If there are passages in the D&C about the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible that I do not have listed, please point me to them and I’ll do an update and give you credit.) As you look at the passages where YHWH mentions the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible please take note of the dates in the []s and keep in mind that the translation of the Book of Mormon was finished by the end of 1829-06. You will notice how all the passages except one is after 1829-06 when the Book of Mormon translation was finished.
