SJR Isaiah 49 with Expounding

Isaiah 49 is about the Second Coming Events and YHWH Elohim’s servant, the Mighty and Strong One, who will bring to pass YHWH Elohim’s prophesies and desires regarding the Second Coming Events and the Millennium.

Isaiah 49 starts with the Mighty and Strong One declaring who YHWH says he is in Isaiah 49:1-3. In Isaiah 49:4 the Mighty and Strong One laments because he feels like he has not accomplished much depsite the fact he has been putting in effort to bring people to Yeshua / Jesus and His ways known as Torah. Next in Isaiah 49:5-7, YHWH lays out the Mighty and Strong One‘s calling and purpose from YHWH along with encouragement because he will be hated by the world, and perhaps not liked much by even some who flee to Zion for safety because they will complain that the standards in Zion are to hard for them.

Then it seems out of no where, we jump into the 4th Seal from the Book of Revelation. The reason that this is the case is because the Mighty and Strong One has nothing to do with the 1st Seal through the 3rd Seal. Those Seals are caused by wicked men which YHWH allows to happen to fullfil His righteous purposes. To learn about the 1st Seal through the 3rd Seal please visit my Second Coming resource page.

Another point to bring out, the Mighty and Strong One has been actively engaged in becoming more like Yeshua / Jesus and striving to keep His Torah such that he knows how to help others to do the same, which is the Purpose of Life for everyone. The question is to what scale are you to do it on. If you are not doing it on a small scale, you will have no idea how to do it on a grand scale. The Mighty and Strong One as implied in Isaiah 49:4 has been trying to bring people to Yeshua / Jesus and His Torah before YHWH calls Him publicly for the 4th Seal. Which is something you can see with Moses going after the lost sheep, and Elisha plowing the field. Both actions are symbolic of bringing people under Yeshua’s / Jesus’ covering and helping them keep Torah. Both Moses and Elisha were doing this before their public calling by YHWH. Showing how they cared for others. They are not doing it for the prestige, but doing it out of genuine care for YHWH and others.

The 4th Seal from the Book of Revelation is Isaiah 49:8-19. Which is also at the center of the chiasmus for Isaiah 49. The center of a chiasmus is the focal point of what is being said in Hebrew poetry. Zion is the focal point in the Second Coming Events. On that point the 4th Seal, when Zion is established, is the focal point of the 7 Seals chiasmus. A Zion like people has always been YHWH’s goal.

AA 1st Seal: Civil War (separation of the USA)
AB 2nd Seal: World War 3
-B 3rd Seal: Slaves fighting against their masters
–C 4th Seal: Zion
-B 5th Seal: People fighting against YHWH and His Torah in their pride to keep the natural man (Symbolism: 666)
AA 6th Seal: Rapture (separation of righteous from the wicked)
AB 7th Seal: YHWH’s war / wrath poured upon the wicked

Isaiah 49 continues from the 4th Seal through the Millennium, which the Mighty and Strong One has a job to do there also, namely to go preach to the kings, queens and everyone else that survived going through the 7th Seal which is YHWH’s wrath poured out upon the wicked.

Isaiah 49:20-23 is describing the 5th Seal from the Book of Revelation. The 144,000 will leave Zion and people will flock to Zion because of the efforts of the 144,000. Isaiah 49:20-23 brings out how at least some who arrive in Zion find the standard enforced in Zion, which is Torah, to be hard because they have not let go of their past sins. I want to make it clear, that it is unrepented sins, which are causing the conditions in the world that they are fleeing from. 1 John 3:4 makes it clear that sin, or in other words iniquity, is breaking Torah. The worlds sins are what causes the tribulation of the Second Coming as Yeshua / Jesus prophesied in Matthew 24.

Matthew (JST 24:10-11,31)(KJV 24:12-13) [bolds are JST / Inspired Version / New Translation]
[Second Temple Destruction after First Coming]
—-EAA 10 12 And because iniquity [sin / breaking Torah] shall abound,
—-EA-B the love [Torah is about how to love] of many shall wax cold.
—-EA–C 11 13 But he that remaineth steadfast,
—-EA-B and is not overcome,
—-EAA the same shall be saved.

[Second Coming]
—-EAA 31 And again, because iniquity [sin / breaking Torah] shall abound,
—-EA-B the love [Torah is about how to love] of men shall wax cold;
—-EA-B but he that shall not be overcome,
—-EAA the same shall be saved.
see Important Coming Dates for the full chiasmus of Matthew (JST 23:31-24:56) (KJV 23:34-24:51) [bolds are JST / Inspired Version / New Translation]

Isaiah 49:24-25 is about the 6th Seal from the Book of Revelation and how some of the righteous will be captured and their only escape is by YHWH’s power. The portion restored in the New Translations / JST / Inspired Version of the Bible brings out how YHWH will rapture His righteous followers, which will be those who will receive Celestial or Terrestrial glory because they are those who are striving to be righteous to one degree or another, see Kingdom of Heaven for more on that.

The first portion of Isaiah 49:26 is about the 7th Seal from the Book of Revelation and how YHWH will give the wicked what they did to the righteous.

The last portion of Isaiah 49:26 is about the Millennium and a consequence from the Mighty and Strong One proselyting to people around the world who survied through the wrath which is the 7th Seal from the Book of Revelations.

I want to say real quick that all translations are interpretations, even all understandings are interpretations. The question is not that it is an interpretation, the question is it the correct one.

Below is SJR Isaiah 49 in chiasmus form. Along with my SJR Translations within {} next to the strikethroughs that my SJR Translations are replacing. Below I will explain the SJR Translations I did in SJR Isaiah 49. I will also show the verses chiasmus, the interlinear showing the Hebrew words along with their prefixes and suffixes, and the definitions of the Hebrew words. All of this to show support for my SJR Translation of Isaiah 49 and understanding from the Hebrew manuscripts and from my understanding of doctrine, Second Coming prophesies and life.

In Isaiah 49:2 I translated “H1305: barar” to “pure” instead of “polished”. Polished is about how the outside appears to others. On the surface that is an okay translation. The reason I translated “H1305: barar” as “pure” is because the word pure has to do with the condition of what the arrow is made of inside. Satan seeks to make the outside look good while the inside is corrupt. While YHWH focuses on purifying who we are over how we look to others. In fact, Yeshua / Jesus stated during His mortal ministry that the world would hate those who will become like Him, hence they hate what they see on the outside.

Isaiah 49:2, Interlinear, BibleHub

BibleHub, H1305: barar:
barar: To PURIFY, select, choose, polish, cleanse
KJV: make bright, choice, chosen, cleanse (be clean), clearly, polished, (shew self) PURE(-ify), purge (out)
NASB: choice, chosen, PURE you show, purge, show yourself PURE, cleanse, purged
Word Origin: a primitive root
Definition: to clarify (i.e. brighten), examine, select
Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance:
make bright, choice, chosen, cleanse be clean, clearly, polished, PURIFY, purge out
A primitive root; to clarify (i.e. Brighten), examine, select — make bright, choice, chosen, cleanse (be clean), clearly, polished, (shew self) PURE(-ify), purge (out).
NAS Exhaustive Concordance:
Word Origin: a prim root
Definition: to PRUIFY, select
NASB Translation: choice (2), chosen (2), cleanse (1), PURE you show (2), purge (2), purged (1), PURIFIED (1), PURIFY (1), select (1), sharpen (1), show yourself PURE (2), sincerely (1), tested (1).
Brown-Drivers-Briggs:
verb: PURIFY, select
1) purge out, PURIFY … utter in a PURE, sincer manner
2) shew oneself PURE, just, kind
Topical Lexicon:
Purification and Moral Refinement:
David twice sings, “to the PURE You show Yourself PURE” (2 Samuel 22:27; Psalm 18:26). Here barar frames PURITY as a prerequisite for perceiving the PURE character of God. Job echoes the idea when he speaks “with a PURE heart” (Job 33:3), and Ecclesiastes observes that God “tests them” (Ecclesiastes 3:18), exposing what lies beneath appearances. Isaiah commands the returning exiles, “Depart … PURIFY yourselves, you who carry the vessels of the Lord” (Isaiah 52:11). In each setting the verb underscores holiness as a divine requirement, not a human option.
Eschatological Restoration:
Zephaniah 3:9 looks beyond judgment: “Then I will restore PURE speech to the peoples, so that all of them may call upon the name of the Lord.” The verb anticipates a universal refinement that reverses Babel’s confusion and unites worshipers in unblemished praise. Daniel 12:10 reinforces the same end-time hope: “Many will be PURIFIED, made spotless, and refined.”
Practical Ministry Applications:
5) Mission and Unity: Zephaniah’s “PURE speech” anticipates Spirit-empowered proclamation that unites diverse peoples around the gospel.

SJR Isaiah 49:6 is a promise from YHWH Elohim to the Mighty and Strong One to give encouragement to the Mighty and Strong One who has felt his efforts have been utterly a waste of time because he has almost seen no results from his efforts.

Isaiah 49:6, Interlinear, BibleHub

The English word “should” suggests that something might not happen. The problem with that is that YHWH Elohim the host of heaven has prophesied in many places that the Mighty and Strong One will become YHWH Elohim’s servant that will be the instrument that YHWH will use to bring to pass what He has prophesied for the Second Coming Events. What YHWH Elohim has prophesied will come to pass. This is the reason I changed the translation of “H1961: hayah” from “should be” to “will become”, because it will happen as YHWH has stated it will happen.

BibleHub: H1961: hayah:
hayah: To be, BECOME, COME TO PASS, exist, happen
KJV: beacon, X altogether, be(-come), accomplished, committed, like), break, CAUSE, COME (TO PASS), do, faint, fall, + follow, happen, X have, last, pertain, quit (one-)self, require, X use
NASB: came, BECOME, been, have, COME, BECAME, had
Definition:
1) to exist
2) to be or BECOME
3) TO COME INTO BEING, i.e. TO HAPPEN, TO OCCUR (always emphatic, and not a mere copula or auxiliary)
Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance:
BECOME, altogether, accomplished, committed, like, break, cause,
A primitive root (compare hava’); to exist, i.e. Be or BECOME, COME TO PASS (always emphatic, and not a mere copula or auxiliary) — beacon, X altogether, BE(-COME), accomplished, committed, like), break, CAUSE, COME (TO PASS), DO, faint, fall, + follow, HAPPEN, X have, last, pertain, quit (one-)self, require, X use.

Overview:
Strong’s Hebrew 1961 (הָיָה, hayah) is the foundational verb of existence, occurrence, and BECOMING, appearing about 3,561 times throughout the Old Testament. From creation’s first “LET THERE BE” (Genesis 1:3) to the prophets’ “IT SHALL COME TO PASS” (Isaiah 2:2), the word frames biblical history, theology, and personal faith.

Translating “H3444: yeshuah” as “deliverance” instead of “salvation” could be very well simply be a personal preference, which is fine, as these two words have overlapping meanings. The reason I choose deliverance over salvation is because for me salvation is more of victory over spiritual death which is only possible because of Yeshua’s / Jesus’ atonement and resurrection, where deliverance is more about overcoming a physical problem. And the Mighty and Strong One will deliver those who follow his leadership, from the woes of the wicked world by establishing YHWH’s Elohim’s ways, known as Torah, around the world, and more especially in Zion from the wrath that is coming during the 7th Seal of the Book of Revelation see Second Coming resource page for details on that.

Occurring roughly seventy-seven times in the Hebrew Scriptures, the noun יְשׁוּעָה gathers the ideas of rescue, DELIVERANCE, help, VICTORY, and the well-being that follows divine intervention. The word most often appears with the definite article—“the salvation”—so that attention is fixed upon the LORD as the exclusive Source and Agent of rescue (for example, Exodus 14:13; Psalm 3:8). Though it can describe human acts of relief, the overwhelming usage attaches the term to the saving work of God Himself.

When you look at Isaiah 49:7 in the interlinear on BibleHub there is no justification for trying to make YHWH the Redeemer of Israel and The Holy One two different souls. One of the definitions of “and” is “even” which is simply bringing out how Yeshua / Jesus who is YHWH Elohim has many names, or in other words, titles.

To be honest translating the Hebrew prefix “ל” as “of” makes no sense in English. In addition the Hebrew prefix “ל” does not have a definition that fits “of”. Considering how the Mighty and Strong One is being given to a group of people to help them come under Yeshua’s / Jesus’ covering and keep His Torah, translating the Hebrew prefix “ל” as “to” fits the the context and is a valid translation of the the Hebrew prefix “ל”.

YHWH Elohim will send the Mighty and Strong One for the sanctified of the past and the future. The past because of the promises given to the past prophets including Joseph of Egypt who is an ancestor of the Mighty and Strong One. And to the sanctified in the future that will listen to YHWH’s words from the Mighty and Strong One‘s mouth and act on them. Which includes those of his tribe of Ephriam and especially the close familar tribe of Manasseh, and all the tribes of Israel. The Mighty and Strong One is given to those who will learn of YHWH Elohim’s Torah from him. Just as Yeshua / Jesus was sent to help those who would become like Him, while others benefited from what Yeshua / Jesus taught and did. The start of the 4th Seal of the Book of Revelation is when the Mighty and Strong One YHWH brings him out of hidding to unify His remnant and bring them to Zion, see Second Coming resource page for details on that.

Translating “H5159: nachalah” as “heritages” or “property”, is not a big issue. I translated to property to bring out the connection of the previous word desolate, which does mean abandon, which goes along with the Lehites / Native Americans / remnant (D&C (LDS 87:5)) taking their land back from the USA government, who forced them to abandon their land. This will happen at the start of the 4th Seal of the Book of Revelation see Second Coming resource page for details on that.

Nas·cha·lah appears about two hundred twenty-three times and always relates to the concept of an inherited possession granted by divine decree. It ties the covenant people to place, promise, family continuity, and ultimately to the Lord Himself. The word threads through Torah legislation, historical narratives, prayers, wisdom sayings, and prophetic visions, establishing “inheritance” as both gift and responsibility.

SJR Isaiah 49:9 brings out how the wicked will convert and feast on YHWH’s Torah and become a light to the world, which goes along with Zion being established during the 4th Seal from the Book of Revelation see Second Coming resource page for details on that.

Isaiah 49:9, Interlinear, BibleHub

Translating “H1540: galah” to “come out” goes with the flow of thought of being in darkness and leaving darkness better than “shew yourselves”. In fact you have to come out to show yourself. There is the additional idea of coming out of sin, which is the focus of this verse and how Zion will become a standard to the world during the 4th Seal from the Book of Revelation see Second Coming resource page for details on that.

Topical Lexicon:
Root Concept:
גָּלָה describes the act of REMOVING A COVERING SO THAT SOMETHING HIDDEN BECOMES VISIBLE or is taken away. Two principal lines of thought flow from the root: (1) an “UNCOVERING” that brings revelation, exposure, or shame, and (2) a “removal” that results in displacement or exile. Both ideas frequently overlap, for to be carried away from the land is to have the protective covering of covenant blessing lifted, while to receive divine revelation is to have the veil pulled back so that TRUTH IS SEEN.

Translating “H8205: shephi” to “stand out” instead of “high places” brings out how those who used to be sinners and then converted to YHWH’s Torah will be a light and a standard to the world to behold, see Matthew (JST 5:16-18)(KJV 5:14-16). Zion will be a light to the world because the majority of the people who live there are a light to the world, which stands out to the wicked world either to be hated or to be admired.

2) HEIGHT
Topical Lexicon:
First Appearance: Numbers 23:3
Before Balaam utters his first oracle, he withdraws “to a barren height.” The scene underscores the isolation of the pagan seer and CONTRASTS SHARPLY with the God of Israel, who needs no occult vantage-point to reveal His will. The narrative marks the “bare height” as a place WHERE HUMAN SCHEMES CLASH WITH DIVINE SOVEREIGNTY, setting the tone for each later usage.
Wisdom Literature:
Job laments a body so emaciated that “his bones [symbolism: law], once hidden, now protrude [showing].”
Isaiah’s Dual Motif: Judgement and Restoration:
Isaiah 41:18 and Isaiah 49:9 pivot from emptiness to abundance. “I will open rivers on barren heights,” the Lord vows, and prisoners will “find pasture on every barren height.” The prophet intentionally redeems the word: the very landscape once parched BECOMES THE SHOWACES OF A COVENANT FAITHFULNESS. Thus שְׁפִי is not a terminal condition but canvas for divine reversal.

For me to translate “H7355: racham” as “compassion” instead of “mercy” shows it’s a continual work the Mighty and Strong One will do for the people not just a one time forgiveness as mercy can portray. Compassion portrays a constant work done out of love, care and concern for their physical and spiritual welfare which goes along with the leadership that the Mighty and Strong One will be providing in Zion during the 4th Seal from the Book of Revelation see Second Coming resource page for details on that.

רָחַם (racham) expresses deep, tender affection that issues in concrete acts of kindness. Etymologically linked to רֶחֶם (rechem, “womb”), the verb paints a picture of the protective, RURTURING COMPASSION a mother has for an infant (compare Isaiah 49:15). Hence the term denotes far MORE THAN MOMENTARY PITY; it CONVEYS STEADFAST, covenant-grounded mercy that moves the heart to INTERVENE FOR THE HELPLESS.

SJR Isaiah 49:17 brings out the Lehites / American Indians / remnant (D&C (LDS 87:5)) were forced to abandon their land and those who took it from them will depart either by death or by leaving which goes along with the very first part of the 4th Seal of the Book of Revelation see Second Coming resource page for details on that.

Isaiah 49:17, Interlinear, BibleHub

The change from “waste” to “desolate” for “H2717: charab” is for multiple reasons. One reason is how desolate does mean abandon. The USA government forced the Lehites / American Indians / remnant (D&C (LDS 87:5)) to abandon their land in the past. The Book of Mormon brings out how the Lehites / American Indians / remnant (D&C (LDS 87:5)) were to be punished because of their sins. But the USA government went too far. And part of the undertone of “H2717: charab” is a covenant curse, which was prophesied to happen. This verse also brings out how the Lehites / American Indians / remnant (D&C (LDS 87:5)) will be taking their land back at the start of the 4th Seal of the Book of Revelation see Second Coming resource page for details on that.

Or chareb {khaw-rabe’}; a primitive root; to parch (through drought) i.e. (by analogy,) to DESOLATE, destroy, kill — decay, (be) DESOLATE, destroy(-er), (be) dry (up), slay, X surely, (lay, lie, make) waste.

Key Motfis in Scriptures:
1) Physical Drying After Judgment
2) Covenant Curses on the Promised Land
3) military Devastation of Cities and Nations
4) Evvironmental Miracles and Provisions
5) Spiritual and Liturical Dimensions
The prophets extend the image from soil to soul. Psalm 102:4 connects internal anguish to drought: “My heart is struck and withered like grass.” The altar itself can be “broken down” (1 Kings 19:10) when true worship collapses. Thus charab becomes a call to repentance and fresh devotion.
Theological Insights:
1) Sovereignty of God over Land and Nations: The same verb narrates both drying judgment and restorative rain, underscoring that creation responds to its Creator’s moral governance.
2) Moral Cause and Effect: Israel’s prophets use charab to reveal that ethical corruption produces ecological and societal collapse (Hosea 13:15).
3) Promise of Reversal: The pattern “desolation—repentance—restoration” foreshadows New Testament redemption, where the barren cross leads to the empty (i.e., deserted) tomb and new life (cf. Romans 4:17-19).

Changing “go forth” to “depart” for “H3318: yatsa” is to make clear that the wicked inhabitors will be destroyed by blood or will be forced to leave the land that YHWH has given for Zion. The coming Mighty and Strong One with the Lehites / American Indians / remnant (D&C (LDS 87:5)) will be taking back the land the USA government stole from them see Second Coming resource page for details on that.

Yatsāʾ occurs about 1,069 times, ranging from the first chapter of Genesis to the post-exilic prophets. It covers every sphere of “GOING OUT” or “coming forth”—creative processes, human actions, divine interventions, natural phenomena, and verbal declarations. Scripture therefore employs the verb to trace the entire arc of redemptive history: what God brings forth in creation, what He brings out in salvation, and what He sends forth in mission.

I translated “H5716: adi” as “jewelry” instead of “ornament” as the KJV Bible translation in SJR Isaiah 49:18. I did this partly because of how these words are used in the modern times. In my mind ornament is more for decorating the house and not very personal. Where jewelry is something you put on yourself, going with being clothed, and it’s more of who you are, bringing out the question do we want to help others with their physical and spiritual needs as if they were Yeshua / Jesus Himself see JST Matthew 25:35-41.

Topical Lexicon:
Overview:
The Hebrew term עֲדִי (ʿădî, Strong’s 5716) denotes personal ornaments or JEWELRY—items worn for beauty, status, or ceremonial significance. Scripture presents such adornments as tangible expressions of REJOICING, wealth, COVENANT FAVOR, and, at times, spiritual unfaithfulness. Occurring thirteen times, the word spans the Pentateuch, Historical Books, Wisdom Literature, Prophets, and thus provides a panoramic view of Israel’s experience with outward splendor and its deeper theological implications.

I have translated multiple Hebrew words different than the KJV Bible transalation in Isaiah 49:19. I show Isaiah 49:19 below in chiasmus form and the interliner from BibleHub. It will be important to remember that Isaiah 49:19 is part of Isaiah 49:8-19 which is during the 4th Seal of the Book of Revelation which will be happening in the near future see Second Coming resource page for details on that. SJR Isaiah 49:19 talks about what happened in the past and how YHWH will make it right.

——-H–C by reason of the inhabitants [USA Citizens],
——-H-B and they [USA government] that swallowed {H1104: engulfed} thee [Zion]
——-HA up shall be far away {H7368: shall be removed} [by blood, see Second Coming].

Isaiah 49:19, Interlinear, BibleHub

There is not a big difference between how KJV Bible translates “H2723: chorbah” as “waste” or as I translated it as “ruined”. The biggest difference is how I made it past tense showing it happened in the past, bringing out how in the last half of the verse YHWH is giving a promise to fix the problem during the 4th Seal of the Book of Revelation see Second Coming resource page for details on that.

BibleHub: H2723: chorbah:
chorbah: Desolation, RUIN, waste
KJV: decayed place, desolate (place, -tion), destruction, (laid) waste (place)

Definition:

2) (by implication) a DESOLATION
NAS Exhaustive Concordance:

NASB Translation: deserts (1), desolation (4), desolations (1), RUIN (6), RUINED homes (1), RUINS (11), waste (7), waste places (10), wastes (1).
Brown-Driver-Briggs:
noun feminine) waste, desolation, RUIN
1) waste, RUIN, of cities
2) of land: waste place amid RUINS
Topical Lexicon:
Overview of Usage:
The noun חָרְבָּה occurs about forty-two times and consistently pictures a place laid waste—RUINED cities, shattered sanctuaries, abandoned vineyards, or an emptied land. Whether the RUIN is physical, social, or spiritual, the word communicates the devastating result of covenant violation, military judgment, neglect, or exile, while at the same time preparing the reader for the hope of rebuilding that follows repentance and divine mercy.

H3334: yatsar” is about pressure that forms people, places or things. Although the Lehites / American Indians / remnant (D&C (LDS 87:5)) land was stolen from them, it is being prepared for them to take it back. Which is why I changed the KJV Bible translation from “be too narrow” for “H3334: yatsar” to “is being formed”. YHWH is preparing the land for His people behind the scenes.

BibleHub: H3334: yatsar:
yatsar: To FORM, fashion, SHAPE, create
Definition:
1) to press (intransitive), i.e. be narrow
2) (figuratively) be in distress
Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance:
be distressed, be narrow, be straitened in straits, be vexed
A primitive root; to press (intransitive), i.e. Be narrow; figuratively, be in distress — be distressed, be narrow, be straitened (in straits), be vexed.
Topical Lexicon:
Ministry Significance:
Pastors, counselors, and missionaries can read יָצַר as a diagnostic word. When believers feel squeezed, Scripture urges examination: Is the pressure FORMATIVE, corrective, or merely circumstantial? The consistent outcome sought is dependence on the Lord who “broadens the path beneath me, so my ankles do not give way” (adapted from 2 Samuel 22:37).

I changed the KJV Bible translation of “H1104: bala” from “swallowed” to “engulfed”. Swallowed has an imagery of completely consuming something. With the knowledge of what the USA government did not completely destroy the Lehites / American Indians / remnant (D&C (LDS 87:5)) along with the USA government is currently oppressing them, I believe the word engulfed gives a better picture of what has transpired that they will overcome with the help of the coming Mighty and Strong One. It is also important to note that the Brown-Driver-Briggs associates “H1104: bala” with accusations, which goes along with the USA government mistreatment of the Lehites / American Indians / remnant (D&C (LDS 87:5)) greatly.

BibleHub: H1104: bala:
bala: To swallow, ENGULF, consume
KJV: COVER, destroy, devour, eat up, be at end, spend up, swallow down (up)

Definition:
1) to make away with
2) (specifically) to take by swallowing, to devour
3) (generally) to destroy
Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance:
COVER, destroy, devour, eat up, be at end, spend up, swallow down up
A primitive root; to make away with (specifically by swallowing); generally, to destroy — COVER, destroy, devour, eat up, be at end, spend up, swallow down (up).
NAS Exhaustive Concordance:
Definition: to swallow down, swallow up, ENGULF
NASB Translation: brought to confusion (1), confound (1), confuse (2), confused (1), consume (1), destroy (1), destroyed (1), destroying (1), end (1), moment (1), removed (1), ruin (1), spreads (1), swallow (13), swallowed (18), swallows (4).
Brown-Driver-Briggs:
verb) swallow down, swallow up, ENGULF
2) ENGULF subject
2) ENGULF usually with ACCUSATIVE
Topical Lexicon:
Root Meaning and Imagery:
בָּלַע paints the vivid picture of something being GULPED down so completely that it disappears from sight. Scripture employs the verb for animate and inanimate agents—soil, sea, beast, enemy, wine, even God Himself—each capable of ENGULFING a person, object, or abstract reality. The act is usually sudden, irreversible, and total, conveying both peril and, in a redemptive turn, ultimate victory.

I changed KJV Bible translation from “up shall be far away” for “H7368: rachaq” to “shall be removed” and added a glyph / note of “by blood” with a link to Second Coming which contains a list of scriptures for support for Lehites taking their land from the USA by war and blood. First and foremost “shall be removed” is a valid translation of “H7368: rachaq” as you can see below. Also knowing what is going to happen during the 4th Seal of the Book of Revelation will give insights as to which is the best translation, see Second Coming resource page.

BibleHub: H7368: rachaq:

Brown-Driver-Briggs:
verb) be, or become, far, distant
1) direct causation make, or exhibit, DISTANCE, be gone FAR
2) indirect cauation REMOVE, PUT FAR AWAY
Topical Lexicon:
Overview of Scriptural Usage:
The verb רָחַק occurs about fifty-eight times across the Hebrew Scriptures, describing literal DISTANCE, deliberate SEPARATION, or relational estrangement. The contexts range from domestic scenes (Genesis 21:16) to royal intercession (1 Kings 8:41) and prophetic indictment (Isaiah 59:9). In every setting the word highlights the tension between nearness and REMOTENESS, a tension resolved only by divine initiative.

I translated multiple words in Isaiah 49:21 differently than the KJV Bible translation. First I will show the chiasmus for the verse and then the interlinear for Isaiah 49:21 from BibleHub, because this is shared for the four translations I did in this verse. It is important to remember the context for Isaiah 49:20-23 is the 5th Seal from the Book of Revelation and what will be happening during this period see Second Coming resource page for details on that. SJR Isaiah 49:21 is about the 144,000 going out to the world and because of their work away from Zion other people come to Zion.

SJR Isaiah 49:21 [{} are SJR Translations, [] are inline expoundings]
—–FA 21 Then shalt thou [Zion] say in thine heart,
—–FBA Who hath begotten [gave] me [Zion] these [non-believers],
—–FB-B seeing I [Zion] have lost my [Zion] children [144,000 / martyrs],
—–FB–C and am desolate {H1565: solitary} [from losing children / 144,000 / martyrs],
—–FB—D a captive {H1473: an exile} [of the world],
—–FB—D and removing to and fro {H5493: removed} [from the world]?{.}
—–FB–C and who [144,000 / martyrs] hath brought up these [non-believers]?
—–FB-B Behold, I [Zion] was left alone {H0905: separated} [from the world];
—–FBA these [non-believers], where had they been [in the world]?{.}

Isaiah 49:21, Interlinear, BibleHub

I translated “H1565: galmud” as “solitary” instead of “desolate” for a couple of reasons. One it is talking of Zion during the 5th Seal of the Book of Revelation and Zion will not be desolate during that period of time, see Second Coming resource page for details on that. Zion will be flourishing and people from around the world will be going to it to escape what is going on in the world. Some who will go to Zion during this time will be converts to the truth that Zion holds dear, while others will not believe what Zion stands for as brought out in Isaiah 49:20 which states that the non-believers who come to Zion will be saying your ways are to straight, or in other words, are too hard to keep because although they want to espace what their sins lead to, they don’t want to leave their sins behind. Zion is feeling lonely because the 144,000 have left to preach the truth to the whole world instead of helping with the non-believers in Zion. In the transation of “H1565: galmud” as “solitary” shows both D stanzas are dealing with the 144,000 in one way or another. To say this simply, Zion is lonely because the 144,000 left to preach to the world.

BibleHub: H1565: galmud:
galmud: solitary, desolate, barren
KJV: desolate, SOLITARY
NASB: barren, gaunt [lean, suffering, grim]
Word Origin: probably by prolonged from H1563 (גָּלַם – to cover, to wrap, to enclose)
Definition:
1) sterile (as wrapped up too hard)
2) (figuratively) desolate
Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance:
desolate, solitary
Probably by prolonged from galam; sterile (as wrapped up too hard); figuratively, desolate — desolate, SOLITARY.

In SJR Isaiah 49:21, I translated “H1473: golah” as “exile” because of the overall context of Isaiah 49:20-23 being the 5th Seal from the Book of Revelation and what will be happening during that period of time, see Second Coming resource page for details on that. And how Zion is exiled or removed from the world. My translation also corrects the chiasmus stanzas to supporting each other instead of contrasting each other for the same subject which is a contradiction.

BibleHub: H1473: golah:
golah: EXILE, Captivity
KJV: (CARRIED AWAY), captive(-ity), REMOVING
NASB: EXILE, EXILES, captives
Word Origin: active participle feminine of H1540 (גָּלָה – go into exile, depart)
Definition:
1) EXILE
2) (concretely, collectively) EXILES
Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance:

NASB Translation: captives (1), EXILE (19), EXILED* (1), EXILES (16), EXILES* (5).
Brown-Driver-Briggs:
noun feminine) EXILES, EXILE
1) collective EXILES
2) abstract, EXILE
Topical Lexicon:
Overview:
The noun גּוֹלָה most commonly designates the body of Israelites who were deported from their homeland and lived in foreign lands under Assyrian, Babylonian, and later Persian rule. It can also denote the condition of captivity itself. Across roughly forty-four Old Testament occurrences, the term always keeps the dual focus of people and place: a displaced covenant community and the foreign soil that marks their discipline and testing.

H5493: sur” is best understood as “removed” and not as “removing to and fro”, in SJR Isaiah 49:21, because people in the world will not be wandering around the world to leave the world. They will remove themselves from the world by going to Zion. This goes along with what is prophesied to happen during the 5th Seal from the Book of Revelation, see Second Coming resource page for details on that.

BibleHub: H5493: sur:

Topical Lexicon:
Overview:
The verb סוּר spans the breadth of Old Testament revelation, appearing in almost every corpus—from Genesis through Malachi—depicting the act of turning, departing, REMOVING, or causing something or someone to turn. Whether it is a heart drifting from covenant loyalty, an idol lifted out of sacred space, or Yahweh’s wrath withdrawn, סוּר portrays decisive change of position or direction, both physical and spiritual.

With Isaiah 49:21 being during the 5th Seal from the Book of Revelation and what will be happening during that period of time, see Second Coming resource page for details on that. Zion is not going to be left alone as the KJV Bible translation suggests. For one, there are the non-believers going to Zion which is the other B stanza of this verse’s chiasmus. In addition the wicked are going to be fighting against Zion. Zion is going to seperated from the world which is a valid translation of “H0905: bad“. In addition to “H0905: bad” meaning seperated, it also has the idea of devotion to YHWH, which Zion will have. This is why Zion will receive protection from YHWH from the wicked world.

BibleHub: H0905: bad:

Lopical Lexicon:
Overview:
Strong’s Hebrew 905 בַּד (bad) appears around two-hundred times in the Old Testament, consistently conveying the idea of being set APART—either as a physical bar that keeps things SEPARATE or as an adverbial/nominal form meaning “ALONE,” “besides,” or “APART.” The term thus operates on both the literal and theological levels, joining concrete imagery with the call to exclusive devotion to the LORD.

I changed the KJV Bible transation from “lawful” to “righteous” for “H6662: tsaddiq” to make it more clear what is being described here. “Lawful captive” as the KJV Bible has translated it sounds as if the captive did something wrong. With the context of SJR Isaiah 49:24-25 being the 6th Seal from the Book of Revelation and SJR Isaiah 49:25 addressing what is brought up in SJR Isaiah 49:24, we can see how the prey are the righteous that YHWH will deliver from evil by the rapture just before the 7th Seal of the Book of Revelation which is the wrath that lasts for 6 moons see Second Coming resource page for details on that.

SJR Isaiah 49:24 [{} are SJR Translations, [] are inline expoundings]

To make it clear that the AntiChrist will be using oppression to achieve his goals instead of being a servant as Yeshua / Jesus taught the righteous leaders will be doing. An interesting fact dealing with oppression and culture is that one symbolic meaning of 42 is oppression, which the wicked people talk about in the media in a joking manner while being deadly serious.

SJR Isaiah 49:25 [{} are SJR Translations, [] are inline expoundings, verse 25 contains the New Translation through Joseph Smith]
-BA 25 But thus saith the Lord [YHWH],
-B-B Even the captives [righteous] of the mighty [AntiChrist] shall be taken away [raptured],
-B–C and the prey [righteous] of the terrible {H6184: oppressor} [AntiChrist] shall be delivered [raptured]:
-B—D for the Mighty God [Elohim]
-B—-E shall deliver [rapture] His [YHWH] covenant [righteous / Torah] people [followers].
-B—D For thus saith the Lord [YHWH],
-B–C I [YHWH] will contend [fight / wrath / 7th Seal] with him them [wicked]
-B-B that contendeth contend [fight] with thee [Zion],
-BA and I [YHWH] will save thy [Zion] children [followers].

Meaning and Imagery:
עָרִיץ (ʾārîts) evokes dread, violence, and arrogant power. Whether used of a single OPPRESSOR or a conquering army, it paints a portrait of those who crush the vulnerable and exalt themselves above God and man.
Divine Justice and Compassion:
1) God stands against every form of arrogant OPPRESSION, promising to humble the ruthless.
Eschatological Horizon:
The silencing of the ruthless in Isaiah 25 anticipates the day when death itself is swallowed up (Isaiah 25:8). The downfall of temporal tyrannies foreshadows the final reign of righteousness in which no OPPRESSOR will stand.
