Torah is Perfect

(see Torah, Torah is Light, Torah in the Doctrine and Covenants, Torah in the Millennium, Torah in Sermon on the Mount / Torah)

As we read the famous words from Yeshua / Jesus in Sermon on Torah, more known as Sermon on the Mount, commanding us to be prefect, it is important to know what Yeshua / Jesus is actually commanding us to do. Throughout YHWH’s recorded words, perfect is connected to keeping Yeshua’s / Jesus’ Torah, see below for many examples. Striving to keep YHWH Elohim’s Torah, as it is written, is the promise you are to make before you are baptized. If you made that promise with a broken heart and contrite spirit, after you proclaim your allegiance to Yeshua / Jesus to the world by being baptized by being immersed fully into living water, Yeshua / Jesus will justify you, which also is known by the baptism of fire which is Yeshua / Jesus putting you under His covering and you being saved. The baptism of the Holy Spirit, which is the baptism of Torah, happens after you are actually keeping the promise to keep all His commandments which is part of His Torah. After you have shown Yeshua / Jesus you love Him by keeping His Torah, even when it’s hard, this is when Yeshua / Jesus will baptize you with the Holy Spirit, which is being baptized in Torah. The scriptures show that this has happened in the past and will continue to happen in the future. This is possible only because of Yeshua’s / Jesus’ atonement and us striving to be like Him who is our example on how to keep His law knows as Torah and thus become perfect as Yeshua / Jesus is perfect as He commanded us to be.

Matthew (JST 5:50)(KJV 5:48) [bolds and strikeouts are New Translation / JST / Inspired Version of the Bible corrections]
AA Be Ye are therefore COMMANDED to be
AB perfect [Torah],

3 Nephi (LDS 12:48)(RLDS 5:92)
AA 48 Therefore I [Yeshua] would that ye should be

Mosiah (LDS 18:8-12)(RLDS 9:38-43)
AA 8 And it came to pass that he [Alma] said unto them:
A-B Behold, here are the waters of Mormon [covenant] (for thus were they called) and now,

AA and to be called His [Elohim] people,
-BA and are willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light;
-BB 9 Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn;
-BC yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort,
–CA and to stand as witnesses of God [Elohim]
–C-B at all times
–C–C and in all things [Torah],
–C-B and in all places that ye may be in,
–CA even until death,
—DA that ye may be redeemed of God [Elohim],
—DB and be numbered with those of the first resurrection,
—DC that ye may have eternal life—
—DA 10 Now I say unto you,

-BA 11 And now when the people had heard these words,
-B-B they clapped their hands for joy,
-B-B and exclaimed:
-BA This is the desire of our hearts.
AAA 12 And now it came to pass that Alma took Helam,
AAB he being one of the first,

A–C and cried, saying:
A–C O Lord [YHWH],
A-B pour out thy Spirit [Behavior]
AAA upon Thy [YHWH] servant,
AAB that he may do this work with holiness of heart.

Abinadi teaches that the law / Torah has a part in us being saved. This is not to negate the atonement that Yeshua / Jesus performed on our behalf. It is to show that both are needed. Mosiah (LDS 13:27-28)(RLDS 8:3-5) can be some confusing because it is mix in how people believe that the punishment known as the Law of Moses is what brings salivation to believers when it is not. Not knowing that the Law of Moses is a punishment that was added after the gross sin at Mount Sinai in addition to Torah can make reading passages like Mosiah (LDS 13:27-28)(RLDS 8:3-5) confusing. With this knowledge, it becomes clear. It is the Law of Moses that has an expiration, as stated in Numbers 28 and throughout the scriptures see Law of Moses, not Torah. Torah is YHWH’s ancient and eternal law, which is every word that comes out of the mouth of Yah which is not a prescribed punishment.

Mosiah (LDS 13:27-28)(RLDS 8:3-5)
–CA 27 And now ye have said that salvation cometh by the law of Moses [daily performances and ordinances].
–C-B I say unto you that it is EXPEDIENT that ye should keep the LAW OF MOSES [TYPES OF THINGS TO COME] AS YET [AT THIS TIME / has an expiration];
–C-B but I say unto you, that the time shall come when it shall NO MORE be EXPEDIENT to keep the LAW OF MOSES [DAILY PERFORMANCES AND ORDINANCES].
–CA 28 And moreover [besides / previous point not pertinent to what follows], I say unto you, that SALVATION DOES NOT COME BY THE LAW [TORAH] ALONE [Torah has a part in salvation] [Law of Moses is a dead work];

YHWH through the prophet Joseph Smith confirmed that the law / Torah is part of being justified and sanctified in D&C (LDS 88:34-35)(RLDS 85)(1835 7)(1844). In which Yeshua states, that we are preserved or justified by the law which is Torah and that we need the law / Torah to be sanctified. Needing to keep the law / Torah to be sanctified shows that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is received after we have shown we will keep Torah regardless of what the world claims about it. YHWH goes even further in stating that if you are not keeping the law / Torah, you are a sinner and are being a law unto yourself. Which is another way of saying you are trying to save yourself and denying His Torah which shows that His atonement is necessary for our salvation / justification / baptism of Fire / mercy / entering His Kingdom let alone not becoming sanctified / eternal life / baptism of Holy Spirit / grace / remaining in His presence.

D&C (LDS 88:34-35)(RLDS 85)(1835 7)(1844)
A 34 And again, verily I say unto you, that which is GOVERNED by LAW [TORAH]
B is also PRESERVED [JUSTIFIED] by LAW [TORAH]
C and PERFECTED and SANCTIFIED by the SAME [LAW / TORAH].
AA 35 That which BREAKETH a LAW [TORAH],
AB and ABIDETH NOT by LAW [TORAH],
BA but seeketh to BECOME A LAW UNTO ITSELF,
B-B and WILLETH to abide in SIN,
BA and altogether abideth in SIN,
CA CANNOT be SANCTIFIED BY LAW [TORAH],
C-B neither by mercy, justice, nor judgment.
CA Therefore, they must REMAIN FILTHY still.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, PRESERVE:
1. To keep or save from injury or destruction; to defend from evil.
2. To uphold; to sustain.
3. To save from decay; to keep in a sound state; as, to preserve fruit in winter. SALT is used to preserve meat.
4. To season with sugar or other substances for preservation; as, to preserve plums, quinces or other fruit.
5. To keep or defend from corruption; as, to preserve youth from vice.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, JUSTIFICATION:
1) The act of justifying; a showing to be just or conformable to law, rectitude or propriety; vindication; defense. The court listened to the evidence and arguments in justification of the prisoner’s conduct. Our disobedience to God’s commands admits no justification
2) Absolution.
3) In law, the showing of a sufficient reason in court why a defendant did what he is called to answer. Pleas in justification must set forth some special matter.
4) In theology, remission of sin and absolution from guilt and punishment; or an act of free grace by which God pardons the sinner and accepts him as righteous, on account of the atonement of Christ.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, SANCTIFICATION:
1) The act of making holy. In an evangelical sense, the act of God’s grace by which the affections of men are purified or alienated from sin and the world, and exalted to a supreme love to God.
2) The act of consecrating or of setting apart for a sacred purpose; consecration.

Commandment to be Perfect

The commandment to be perfect is not a brand spanking new commandment from Yeshua / Jesus in Sermon on Torah, more known as Sermon on the Mount. The commandment to be perfect is throughout the scriptures showing that YHWH Elohim is no respecter of persons, in that He expects the same requirements for everyone.

SJR Deuteronomy 18:9-18 [Verse 13 brings out how we are to be perfect, or in other words holy, in contrast to the sins listed before and after it]

People who became Perfect

Sadly, there are people who believe the commandment to be perfect from Yeshua / Jesus is impossible to achieve. This could not be farther from the truth. For one, YHWH does not give a commandment that He does not provide a way for us to accomplish it, see 1 Nephi (LDS 3:7)(RLDS 1:65). In addition, throughout the scriptures, including the Doctrine and Covenants through Joseph Smith, tells us of people who have become perfect which is another ways of saying became sanctified which is receiving the Second Comforter, see D&C (LDS 88:2-5)(RLDS 85)(1835 7)(1844 7), which is also called the more sure word of prophesy, see 2 Peter 1:19.

What is being Perfect

With the commandment from Yeshua / Jesus to be perfect, it is important to know how we are to become perfect. The passages below will show that to become perfect we need to keep Torah. A little reminder, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is received when Yeshua / Jesus sees that we are striving to show our love to Him by keeping His Torah in all circumstances.

AA 125 And above all things,

Lectures on Faith 4:8 Fourthly, Judgment. Psalms 89:14: Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne. Deuteronomy 32:4: He is the Rock, His [YHWH] work is perfect [according to Torah]; for all His [YHWH] ways are judgment [Torah]. A God [Elohim] of truth and without iniquity [breaking Torah]: just [keeping Torah] and right [keeping Torah] is He [YHWH]. Psalms 9:7: But the Lord shall endure forever: he has prepared his throne for judgment. Psalms 9:16: The Lord is known by the judgment which he executes.

Lectures on Faith 4:10 And Sixthly, Truth. Psalms 89:14: Mercy and truth shall go before Thy [YHWH] face. Exodus 34:6: Long suffering and abundant in goodness and truth. Psalms 31:5: Into thy hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord [YHWH] God [Elohim] of truth.

Lectures on Faith 7:10 The Lord [YHWH] said unto Moses, Leviticus 19:2:—Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be HOLY [KEEP TORAH]: for I the Lord [YHWH] your God [Eloheka] am HOLY [KEEP TORAH]. And Peter says, first epistle, 1:15 and 16: But as he who has called you is HOLY [KEEP TORAH], so be ye HOLY [KEEP TORAH] in all manner of conversation [interactions]; because it is written, Be ye HOLY [KEEP TORAH]; for I [YHWH] am HOLY [KEEP TORAH]. And the Savior says, Matthew 5:48: Be ye PERFECT [KEEP TORAH], even as your Father [YHWH Elohim] who is in heaven is PERFECT [KEEP TORAH]. If any should ask why all these sayings? the answer is to be found from what is before quoted from John’s epistle, that when He (the Lord [YHWH]) shall appear, the saints will be like Him [YHWH]: and if they are NOT HOLY [BREAKING TORAH], as He [YHWH] is HOLY [KEEPING TORAH], and PERFECT [KEEPING TORAH] as He [YHWH] is PERFECT [KEEPING TORAH], they cannot be like Him [YHWH]; for no being can enjoy His [YHWH] glory [Celestial Glory] without possessing His [YHWH] perfections [KEEPING TORAH] and HOLINESS [KEEPING TORAH], no more than they could reign in His [YHWH] kingdom without His [YHWH] power [TORAH].

Lectures on Faith 7:15 It is scarcely necessary here to observe what we have previously noticed: That the glory which the Father and the Son have, is because they are JUST [KEEP TORAH] and HOLY [KEEP TORAH] beings; and that if they were lacking in one attribute or PERFECTION [KEEPING TORAH] which they have, the glory which they have, never could be enjoyed by them; …

Lectures on Faith 7:17 … By their faith [trust & diligence] they could obtain heavenly visions, the ministering of angels [calling repentance], have knowledge of the spirits of JUST MEN MADE PERFECT, of the general assembly and church of the first born [those who have been sanctified by keeping Torah], whose names [character] are written in heaven [Torah], of God [Elohim] the judge of all, of Jesus [Yeshua] the Mediator of the new covenant [Torah] …

Inferred Scriptures to Consider on the Principle

Here are some additional passages of scriptures that show that keeping Torah is how we become perfect. These passages are more obscure in showing this principle, but once you learn it, it is obvious that is one of the teachings in these passages. Such as the Parable of the Sower in JST Luke 8:4-15, in that those who receive Terrestrial Glory in the resurrection did not bring forth works according to Torah unto perfection.

SJR Psalm 50:2
A 2 Out of Zion [out of Zion flows the word / Torah of YHWH],
-B the perfection of beauty {H3308: splendor} [Glory which is received from keeping Torah],
A God [Elohim] hath shined {prefixes: ו & ת‎: will} {H3313: shine}.

Isaiah 26:3
A 3 Thou [YHWH] wilt keep him [believer] in perfect [Torah] peace,
B whose [believer] mind is stayed [thinking on YHWH’s Torah] on Thee [YHWH]:
C because he [believer] trusteth [faith] in Thee [YHWH].

[All versions of the parable of the Sower are about the three degrees of glory in the Kingdom of Heaven and the Sons / Followers of Perdition. Verse 14 brings up how those who receive the Terrestrial glory fall short of perfection because they did not keep the seed / word of Elohim / Torah perfectly because they got busy with the cares of the world.]

BBA-B then cometh and the devil [Satan] cometh,
BBA-B and taketh away the word [Torah] out of their hearts,
BBAA lest they should believe [in Yeshua and Torah] and be saved [in the kingdom of Yeshua].
[Telestial]
BBBA 13 They That which fell on the rock [hard hearted] are they,
BBB-B which who, when they hear,
BBB–C receive the word [gospel part of Torah] with joy [excitement];
BBB–C and these they have no root [don’t keep Torah and fight against it],
BBB-B which but for a while believe,
BBBA and in a time of temptation fall away.
[Terrestrial]
BBCA 14 And that which fell among the thorns are they,
BBC-B which who, when they have heard [Torah],
BBC–C go forth [in the world],
BBC-B and are choked [busy] with cares and riches [money] and pleasures [activities] of this life,
BBCA and bring no fruit [work] to perfection [just short of keeping Torah perfectly].
[Celestial]
BBDA 15 But that which fell on the good ground [heart] are they,
BBD-B which who receive the word [Torah] in an honest and good heart,
BBD–C having heard the word [Torah],
BBD-B keep it what they hear [Torah],
BBDA and bring forth fruit [works] with patience [enduring to the end].

AB with a steadfastness in Christ [Messiah],
-B having a perfect brightness of hope [trust],
–C and a [perfect] love of God [Elohim] [keep commandments] and of all [including mean ones] men.
—D Wherefore, if ye [believers] shall press forward,
–C feasting upon the word [Torah] of Christ [Messiah],
-B and endure to the end [even when it’s hard until death],
AA behold, thus saith the Father [YHWH Elohim]:
