Review of Healing The Breach

Patrick McKay did a great job writing and putting together his book Healing the Breach: Mormonism, Metaphors, and the Pieces of the Puzzle. Throughout the book I can see Patrick’s love for the Redeemer and Savior, the Book of Mormon, and the Restoration. Patrick focus in this book centers around his desires to see everyone from all churches / groups / assemblies who believe in the Restoration to unite together to gain strength from each other and to bring about Zion.

Patrick shares experiences, including miracles, from different churches who believe in the Restoration showing how God has shown forth His love, power and mercy in the lives of the members, along with revelation. Here is a quote from Joseph Smith I have always enjoyed regarding revelation.

Where there is a prophet, a priest, or a righteous man unto whom God gives his oracles, there is the kingdom of God; and where the oracles are not, there the kingdom of God is not. – Joseph Smith, Documentary History of the Church, Volume V, pg 257

Some of the testimonies that Patrick gathered touched me deeply, and I am grateful for the work he has done in putting them together. Reading them increased my faith and hope. Joseph Smith taught that human testimonies can and will excite others to gain their own testimonies.

Lectures on Faith 2:56 We have now clearly set forth how it is, and how it was, that God became an object of faith for rational beings; and also, upon what foundation the testimony was based, which excited the enquiry and diligent search of the ancient saints, to seek after and obtain a knowledge of the glory of God: and we have seen that it was human testimony, and human testimony only, that excited this enquiry, in the first instance in their minds—it was the credence they gave to the testimony of their fathers—this testimony having aroused their minds to enquire after the knowledge of God, the enquiry frequently terminated, indeed, always terminated, when rightly pursued, in the most glorious discoveries, and eternal certainty.

I found some of the metaphores that Patrick shared to be very deep and to contain PaRDeS, to lean more of PaRDeS please search for it in Bishops are JUDGEs of Israel as I talk about it some there. I dare say that some of the metaphores were revelation from God and others inspiration and deep thought.

I advise all to go on to perfection, and search deeper and deeper into the mysteries of Godliness.
Joseph Smith, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, 12 May 1844, page 364

The book is full of wisdom from cover to cover. Here is one from the beginning that I highlighted:

The actual solving of the puzzle is oftentimes a piecemeal process starting at one or more favorable places, continually linking the new fragments.

I highly recommend reading this book. I could not put it down when I had the time to read.
