My Base

My base is the Book of Mormon and what it says. And will probably always stay that way until we get the Brass Plates, Torah and Tanak in Lehi and Jeremiah’s time, and/or the sealed portion. But until that happens we need to take what the Book of Mormon says very seriously.

D&C (LDS 84:57) (RLDS 83) (1835 4) (1844 4) And they shall remain under this CONDEMNATION until they REPENT and REMEMBER the new [renewed] covenant, even the BOOK OF MORMON and the FORMER COMMANDMENTS [Torah] which I [God] have given them, not only to say, BUT TO DO ACCORDING to that which I [God] HAVE WRITTEN [God wrote the ten commandments with His Finger].

The more I study, the more I see that the base for the Book of Mormon prophets is Torah [Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy] and Tanak [Old Testament]. I have many reasoning for keeping the Book of Mormon for my base. One which is that I believe the Book of Mormon prophets knew and understand Torah and Tanak better than anyone today. And it clears up much confusion that mankind has placed upon these sacred works.

I am grateful for many in the Hebrew Roots, Karaites, Messianic movements that have opened my eyes to many things. They do so much more with less than what we have. And sadly in the tradition I grew up in I see that we did so little with so much more that we have been given and claim to believe in.

With that said, even though I’m grateful for the hard work and God fearing people in these other movements if what they say contradictions what the prophets in the Book of Mormon says on a subject, and I know it, I disregard it. To be honest I do that with the LDS / Brighamite church I grew up with also. As I hope you do with anything I say that contradicts God’s actual words. I am a lost soul still trying to remove many false traditions I grew up with, but at the same time wanting to help others to do the same thing. I’ll be honest some works/words from these movements have greatly helped me understand parts of the Book of Mormon.

There are things that these movements say on various subjects that I know contradict what the Bok of Mormon says. And I’ll be honest I don’t know how to show that solely using the Bible yet, I think many who only use the Bible if they were honest would say the same thing, hence all the different denominations based on the Bible.

I plead with you as we are growing in the ancient/only way of God that we prayerfully consider what the Book of Mormon says on these subjects.

It is the Bible and the Book of Mormon that shall confound false doctrines, not sayings of modern people.

2 Nephi (LDS 3:12) (RLDS 2:19-23) Wherefore, the fruit of thy loins shall write [Book of Mormon]; and the fruit of the loins of Judah shall write [Bible]; and that which shall be written by the fruit of thy loins [Book of Mormon], and also that which shall be written by the fruit of the loins of Judah [Bible], shall grow together, unto the CONFOUNDING OF FALSE DOCTRINES and LAYING DOWN OF CONTENTIONS, and ESTABLISHING PEACE among the fruit of thy loins, and bringing them to the knowledge of their fathers in the latter days, and also to the knowledge of my covenants, saith the Lord.
