Introduction

1835 D&C section 101, last edition while Joseph Smith was alive. The only major church that removed it was the LDS church. It states one man and one wife, to marry in public where everyone can see it, and that polygamy is a crime.

Joseph Smith’s Journal Entry Changes

Joseph Smith modified journal entry that was originally against polygamy, then changed to be nothing about polygamy, and finally changed to be for polygamy.

Below is a great screen shot from Hemlock Knots, showing how Brigham Young and the rest of the history revisionist could not make up their minds in how to modify 05 Aug 1843, complete with links so you can see for yourself.

Jacob (LDS 2:23-35)(RLDS 2:31-47)

The Book of Mormon only condemns polygamy, including Jacob (LDS 2:30) (RLDS 2:39), which we hope this mirrored chiasmus will make evident that every time THING(S) is used it is refering back to “MANY WIVES and CONCUBINES, which THING was ABOMINABLE” Jacob (LDS 2:24) (RLDS 2:33). Torah teaches that polygamy should not be practiced, when a Hebrew idiom is translated correctly regarding polygamy as it is everywhere else in the Bible. Interestingly enough, Jacob (LDS 2:23-35) (RLDS 2:31-47) is echoing the teachings of Torah regarding polygamy including not specifying a punishment that human judges are to give, but both are clear that YHWH Elohim can and WILL give a punishment for it, if not repented of. 1835 D&C 101 is also repeating Torah teachings on this subject, see Marriage.

A 23 This people begin to wax in iniquity
-B 24 Many wives and concubines is an abomination

A 29 Wherefore, this people shall keep My COMMANDMENTS, saith the Lord [YHWH] of Hosts, or CURSED be the land for their sakes.
-BA 30 For if I will, saith the Lord [YHWH] of Hosts, raise up seed UNTO ME, I will COMMAND my people;
-BB OTHERWISE they shall hearken unto these THINGS.
–CA 31 For behold, I, the Lord, have seen the SORROW, and heard the MOURNING

New Translation / Joseph Smith Translation / Inspired Version of the Bible

While Joseph Smith was working on the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible, he was directed to retranslate the following verses, by YHWH Elohim, which corrected these passages from possibly allowing polygamy to being anti-polygamy. (Bolds and Strikethroughs are JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible.)

JST 2 Samuel 12:13 And David said unto Nathan, I [David] have sinned against the LORD [YHWH]. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD [YHWH] also hath not put away thy [David] sin that thou [David] shalt not die.

JST 1 Kings 3:14
A And if thou [Solomon] wilt walk in My [YHWH] ways [Torah]
-BA to keep My [YHWH] statutes [Torah],
-BB and My [YHWH] commandments [Torah],
–C then I [YHWH] will lengthen thy [Solomon] days,
-B and thou [Solomon] shalt not walk in unrighteousness,
A as did thy [Solomon] father David did walk, then I [YHWH] will lengthen they days.

JST 1 Kings 11:4-6
AA 4 For it came to pass,
AB when Solomon was old,
-B that his wives turned away his heart after other gods;
–C and his heart was not perfect [Torah is Perfect] with the LORD [YHWH] his God [Elohim],
—D as was and it became as the heart of David his [Solomon] father [David].
—DA 5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians,
—DB and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.
–C 6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD [YHWH],
-B as David his [Solomon] father [David],
A and went not fully after the LORD [YHWH] as did David his [Solomon] father [David].

JST 1 Kings 15:5
A Because David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD [YHWH],
-B and turned not aside from any thing all that He [YHWH] commanded him,
–C to sin against the Lord [YHWH];
—D but repented of the evil
–C all the days of his life,
-B save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite,
A wherein the Lord [YHWH] cursed him.

Bible

Scriptures show that David repented of polygamy and all his other sins except the murder of Uriah the Hittite. There is no way to repent of murder. The reason David was not put to death for this sin as required by YHWH’s Torah is because there were NOT two or three witnesses as required to establish guilt as stated in Torah. David’s repentant heart is expressed all over the Psalms and indicates a change of heart. Although David repented of his sins, he still had to deal with the consequences of them except YHWH’s wrath because YHWH forgave David and thus no eternal consequences.

BSB 2 Samuel 20:3
AA When David returned to his palace in Jerusalem,
AB he took the ten concubines
-BA he had left to care for the palace,
-BB and he placed them in a house under guard.
-BA He provided for them,
-BB but he no longer slept with them.
AA They were confined until the day of their death,
AB living as widows.

KJV 1 Kings 1:1-4
A 1 Now king David was old and stricken in years;
-BA and they covered him with clothes,
-BB but he gat no heat.
–CAA 2 Wherefore his servants said unto him,
–CAB Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin:
–C-B and let her stand before the king,
–C–C and let her cherish him,

Seeking YHWH

Here are my finished works, in addition to the Jacob (LDS 2:23-35)(RLDS 2:31-47) chiasmus, I have published. I have more I need to finish. Polygamy is not a subject I focus on. For me it is enough to know that Torah, which is every word of Yah that is not a prescribed punishment, teaches against it including the Bible (I have some SJR Translations I need to publish), JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants.

At the bottom of this slightly annotated 1835 Doctrine and Covenants General Assembly: Votes it shows how everyone voted for monogamy.

2 Nephi (LDS 14:1) (RLDS 8:65) (Isaiah 4:1) And in that day seven [flee seven ways see Deuteronomy 28:25] women [churches] shall take hold of one man [Yeshua/Jesus], saying, We will eat our own bread [word/oral traditions], and wear our own apparel [righteousness]: only let us be called by thy name [no scripture where a woman is called by her husband’s name], to take away our reproach [sin see Proverbs 14:34].

For those who believe monogamy is YHWH plan for men and women and that polygamy is an abomination unto YHWH, at first glance Alma (LDS 10:11) (RLDS 8:16-17) could be a bit of a stumbling block, but with a little investigation and thought we will learn it’s not.

In conclusion the fact that LDS supposed D&C 132:40 contradicts so many verses in the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants, I take this verse as another example and evidance that the LDS supposed D&C 132:40 is not from YHWH through Joseph Smith but a concoction of Brigham Young and his cohorts.

Brings out how 2 Nephi (LDS 28:8) (RLDS 12:10-11) states that one thing is wrong and the supposed LDS D&C 132:26 says it is good, and actually a blessing for entering inot polygamy.

Brings out how the Noahites/Limhites could not escape the consequences of polygamy just like the LDS / Brighamite church can’t escape it either.
King Brigham

The BoM teaches something different about sealings than what the LDS church does.
This is the sealing power, to pronounce what heaven has already been decreed, because those who have the sealing power will do nothing with it except what the Father wants done. We know Nephi “sought [God’s] will and to keep [God’s] commandments” because God attributed this to Nephi in Helaman (LDS 10:4) (RLDS 3:115-116). In the next verse God adds more emphasis to this idea, “for thou [Nephi] shalt not ask that which is contrary to my will” Helaman (LDS 10:5) (RLDS 3:117).

LDS supposed D&C 132:1 contradicts that we need to have real intent to receive answers in pray when remembering the supposed story of Joseph Smith being told by an angel with a flaming sword to practice it or die, beceause Joseph Smith was not going to.

Because of the hard work of others, early in my waking up to the problems in the LDS / Brighamite church, I realized that those who claimed to believe in Joseph Smith as a prophet were saying he was a liar and that YHWH told him to lie. If you believed that Joseph Smith was a liar, how could you believe anything that Joseph Smith said or anything YHWH said as claiming YHWH told him to lie is making YHWH a liar Himself. I am eternally grateful to Alan Rock Waterman for his article Why I’m Abandoning Polygamy because he planted the seed of monogamy only, and it has grown because of study and prayer and hard work from other people.

I don’t do much with the subject of polygamy vs monogamy. I believe that monogamy is YHWH’s law on marriage for many reasons including the scriptures, ancient and modern. One day I hope to finish my post “King David’s sin and Brigham Young’s lust” and an expounding of D&C (LDS 132) verse by verse. Please don’t become obsessed with the polygamy vs monogamy war. Yeshua wants us to keep all His commandments / Torah not just monogamy. In addition, a more well rounded approach and understanding will convince more people of more truth. And without having a more well rounded understanding, I would not have been able to do a SJR Translation from the five books of Moses showing gross mistranslation to support polygamy.
