Below are the reasons why Benjamin, from Torah is Eternal, and I, Steven, don’t believe that the “Scriptory Book of Joseph Smith” was directed by Joseph Smith or by YHWH Elohim. Benjamin and I, started looking into the Scriptory Book during our research in putting together our page exposing D&C (LDS 113), which is still in the process.
The fact the Scriptory Book of Joseph Smith got that titles is very dubious, because within the pages of the book itself it is stated that the text is copied from manuscripts that no longer exist to verify their authenticity. One fact that places doubt of this book being a journal, as it is claimed, is the fact that the date entries are all out of order, from the first pages we are allowed to see and throughout the book, see table below. This points to the fact that this book was obviously compiled after the fact. The LDS / Brighamite ran Joseph Smith Papers website, in a note, admits the book is compiled after the fact, proving it is not a journal as claimed see page 34 of the Scriptory Book of Joseph Smith on the Joseph Smith Papers.
The next issue is the fact that the author, George W Robinson, who put this travesty together, was part of the wicked Danites. The Danites were started by Samson Avard not Joseph Smith.

In addition, there are supposed revelations within the covers of this book that contradict true and confirmed revelations from YHWH through Joseph Smith that were previously published in the 1835 Doctrine and Covenants. One example is on page 51 – page 52 of the Scriptory Book of Joseph Smith on the Joseph Smith Papers, which both pages have a note on the side to “over looks in its flaws”. This supposed revelation on page 51 – page 52, claims that each stake gets to decide if they uphold the decision about the presidency of the church. This claims contradicts D&C (LDS 107:82-84)(RLDS 104)(1835 3)(1844 3), published before, stating that once the common council of the church, which are not the 12 apostles see Scripture Study 2025-06-25 Church Trial of Joseph Smith, make a decision it is the “end of the controversy concerning him”. This contradiction alone shows that this book is not what it claims to be. Which makes the Scriptory Book of Joseph Smith not a reliable source for revelation from YHWH through Joseph Smith. Below is the proof of the said contradiction and why it should not be considered from YHWH.
If any man preaches to you, doctrines contrary to the Bible [including the JST], the Book of Mormon, or the [1835] Book of Doctrine & Covenants, set him down as an imposter … Try them by the principles contained in the acknowledged word of God; if they preach, or teach, or practice contrary to that, disfellowship them; cut them off from among you as useless and dangerous branches.
Joseph Smith, Times & Seasons, 5:490-491, April, 1, 1844Thus saith the Lord, Let the first Presidency of my Church, be held in full fellowship in Zion and all her stakes, untill they shall be found transgressors, by such an high Council as is named in the above alluded section, in Zion, by three witnesses standing against each member of said Presidency, and these witnesses shall be of long and faithfull standing, and such also as cannot be impeached by other witnesses before such Council, and when a descision is had by such and Council in Zion, it shall only be for Zion, it shall not answer for her stakes, but if such descision be acknowledged by the Council of her stakes, then it shall answer for her stakes, But if it is not acknowledged by the stakes, then such stake may have the privilege of hearing for themselves or if such descision shall be acknowledeged by a majority of the stakes, then it shall answer for all her stakes And again, The Presidency of my Church, may be tried by the voice of the whole body of the Church in Zion, and the voice of a majority of all her stakes140 And again Except a majority is had by the voice of the Church of Zion and a majority of all her stakes, The Charges will be concidered not sustained and in order to sustain such Charge or Charges, before such Church of Zion or her stakes, such witnesses must be had as is named above, that is the witnesses to each President, who are of long and faithfull standing, that cannot be immpeached by other witnesses before the Church of Zion, or her stakes, And all this saith the Lord because of wicked and asspiring men, Let all your doings be in meekness and in humility before me even so Amen—
1838-Jul-08, Scriptory Book of Joseph Smith on the Joseph Smith Papers, page 51 – page 52D&C (LDS 107:82-84)(RLDS 104)(1835 3)(1844 3) [1835 late winter or spring]
82 And inasmuch as a President of the High Priesthood shall transgress, he shall be had in remembrance before the common council of the church, who shall be assisted by twelve counselors of the High Priesthood; 83 And their decision upon his head shall be an end of controversy concerning him. 84 Thus, none shall be exempted from the justice and the laws of God, that all things may be done in order and in solemnity before him, according to truth and righteousness.
Throughout the Scriptory Book there are editorial notes. Sometimes these editorial notes take the form of cross outs. Portions of a majority of the pages have been lined out. Page 61 is particularly egregious. There are also portions of text that can be little more than editor references to earlier recordings within the same book. These point to an awareness on the part of the constructors that this record would be used to create other books.
I transmit to you the folowing motto [which has been lined out] of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints Recorded on Pages 16 & 17 of J Smith Jr Scriptory Record Book A.
Almost every single page of the Scriptory Book has been lined out or scribbled out full or to some degree. In addition, some pages have one to multiple words to a third of the page fully redacted to the point we are not able to tell what was there, which is a sign of fabrication.
Page 83, the last page of the Scriptory Book is an interesting case, in addition to the actual contents being lined out, it has a starting of an entry by only having the date Wed 11 Sep of the year 1838.
Below is a table with page numbers and links in the first column. Dates on the page in the second column. Comments in the last column. It is interesting to note how pages 1 – 14 there are scans for these pages provided even though with page 15 of the Scriptory Book you can see the pages are there to be scanned. From the scanned page 15, we can see that page 14 has text that has bleed through as page 83 from above shows text from page 82. We can be confident that the faint text on page 15 is not from page 16 because the faint text from page 15 does not match page 16. Missing pages 1 – 14 is a sign of fabrication. More notes to come when there is time to work more on this project.
