00:00:07 Leona with Lehi and the interpreters

00:00:12 Smith now uh
00:00:15 as we talk about occasionally there’s
00:00:19 the pattern of the three
00:00:21 prophets uh the messenger or the
00:00:26 Elijah the
00:00:30 um the mighty and strong yeah the mighty
00:00:33 and strong one the preparer the preparer
00:00:36 the
00:00:37 preparer um or the
00:00:41 Elisha um or and then the Redeemer which
00:00:47 is the third uh and in this pattern of
00:00:51 three with
00:00:53 Lehi Lehi is the
00:00:55 messenger uh Nephi is the preparer and
00:00:59 Jak jaob is the
00:01:02 Redeemer um just like with just like
00:01:06 with um just like with Moses Jethro was
00:01:10 the messenger Moses is the is the
00:01:12 preparer and and Joshua is the is the
00:01:16 Redeemer of the promise onto Israel
00:01:20 correct and in our day Joseph Smith is
00:01:25 the messenger the mighty and strong one
00:01:27 will be coming and then then the
00:01:30 Redeemer uh that one’s easy to know who
00:01:33 it is that one’s Yeshua
00:01:35 so um like it was at the Meridian of
00:01:39 time correct uh there’s been other
00:01:42 redeemers uh throughout time incling
00:01:47 Isiah yeah he was a half of one um and
00:01:52 Hezekiah was the other half correct uh
00:01:55 and and like with John the Baptist I see
00:01:59 him as a half of uh prepare reminding
00:02:02 strongin because Paul is the other half
00:02:05 um but that’s another subject but here
00:02:09 is something that relates to two
00:02:14 Messengers um and so um first I think
00:02:19 maybe just start off with how oh I don’t
00:02:22 know where’s what was the first verse
00:02:25 talks about the Leona was it verse 10
00:02:27 yeah there we go um maybe we just read
00:02:30 what the Leona
00:02:31 is um so Zack you want to read verse 10
00:02:35 for
00:02:37 us
00:02:40 or it came to pass that as my father
00:02:43 arose in the morning and went forth to
00:02:46 the tent door to his astonishment he
00:02:49 beheld up upon he beheld upon the ground
00:02:53 a round ball a curious
00:02:56 workmanship there was a fine brass and
00:02:59 within the B were two spindles and the
00:03:02 one pointed the way whether we should go
00:03:04 into the
00:03:07 Wilderness so a couple things uh I think
00:03:10 is kind of cool uh one is what it’s made
00:03:14 out of
00:03:16 brass uh and Brass is symbolic of
00:03:22 judgment which also goes along with
00:03:27 how uh in other aspects of the Leona it
00:03:32 represents the Holy Spirit Torah as
00:03:35 we’ll get into more later well yeah this
00:03:38 is something that I that I noticed uh
00:03:41 even before I started coming to Torah is
00:03:44 it seemed like the iron Rod represented
00:03:47 like the
00:03:48 word uh before before I realized the
00:03:51 Torah and the Holy Spirit were simply
00:03:54 manifestations of the same
00:03:58 thing uh which is the mind and will of
00:04:01 yopa I uh I I saw the iron I saw the
00:04:08 iron Rod as a manif as like representing
00:04:12 the word the scriptures uh and the Leona
00:04:16 as uh the
00:04:18 spirit realizing now that the scriptures
00:04:22 in the spirit are simply uh two two
00:04:26 manifest the scriptures and the and the
00:04:29 uh and the light that we re the light
00:04:31 and and Revelation that we receive from
00:04:33 the spirit are simply two manifestations
00:04:35 of the same thing which is dish but
00:04:39 right I I think uh like the iron Rod is
00:04:41 focusing one aspect and the brass Leona
00:04:45 or even just simply the brass is
00:04:47 focusing on another yes but also
00:04:54 um we’ll look at Elma we’ll probably
00:04:56 look at Elma 37 later but one thing
00:04:58 that’s interesting it goes along on with
00:05:00 this is how the brass
00:05:02 plates AKA primarily the Old Testament
00:05:05 including
00:05:06 Torah
00:05:08 um will cause people to want to repent
00:05:12 meaning it’s showing the judgments hence
00:05:15 it’s metal that is made out of brass is
00:05:18 showing
00:05:19 judgments um so just kind of go along
00:05:22 with the the brass more yes uh round
00:05:27 ball generally speaking has to do more
00:05:30 with Heavenly things
00:05:32 right now here’s now here’s just a funny
00:05:36 little thought that I’ve always had it
00:05:39 says within the ball were two spindles
00:05:41 and the one pointed the way whether we
00:05:43 should go into the Wilderness I’ve
00:05:45 always wondered what did the other one
00:05:46 point
00:05:48 to yeah I I haven’t figured that one out
00:05:52 myself
00:05:54 so um just a little just a funny little
00:05:56 thing that I that I always think of
00:05:58 whenever I read this vers is
00:06:00 well where was the other one pointing
00:06:02 yeah I I I do wonder about the second
00:06:05 spindle and I have not figured it
00:06:08 out so sadly I I’m not able to help you
00:06:14 with that one at this
00:06:17 point
00:06:18 um but I always I it’s one of those
00:06:23 things that I always think about
00:06:24 whenever I read that
00:06:26 verse sure and then and it’s also
00:06:29 interesting here and it came to pass
00:06:31 that my father arose in the morning and
00:06:33 went forth to the tent door so this tent
00:06:39 he was in the tent on the way out so in
00:06:44 the
00:06:45 Tanakh uh spe even just the Torah the
00:06:48 first five books uh being inside the
00:06:51 tent has to do with studying
00:06:56 Torah and I don’t think that’s by
00:06:58 accident that’s put here because then
00:07:00 that’s when they’re given the spirit to
00:07:02 know what to do when you’re Torah you
00:07:06 will then know what to do go ahead it
00:07:08 also reminds me of the uh also reminds
00:07:12 me of the Commandment that we are to
00:07:15 bind the Commandments uh upon our hands
00:07:18 as frontlets between our eyes and that
00:07:20 they are to be uh that they’re be to be
00:07:22 on the lentils of our doorposts for all
00:07:25 of our comings in and going
00:07:27 out um and so that it it does remind me
00:07:30 of that uh I I can see that though you
00:07:35 that is a symbolic commandment not a
00:07:36 literal one but yeah well I’m not saying
00:07:39 that it’s literal I’m making sure other
00:07:41 people know that yeah that’s a it’s a s
00:07:44 the yeah when the yeah when that
00:07:45 commandment was given it’s not it was
00:07:48 not meant to be literally binding cubes
00:07:51 to your hands and your head and placing
00:07:53 cubes on the doorstep that you have to
00:07:56 yeah and so we have a teaching about
00:07:58 that uh all l in the notes that people
00:08:00 want to look and and I talk about how
00:08:03 that imagery points to Satan but
00:08:10 anyways um but yes I I can definitely
00:08:13 see whether it being at the door could
00:08:15 point to that some
00:08:18 right but in both aspects it is uh
00:08:22 pointing to Torah that then you’re
00:08:25 getting this direction right
00:08:31 uh and it told you the right thing to do
00:08:34 which is what Torah does while we’re in
00:08:37 the wilderness which is like the world
00:08:40 right now you know and the thing is the
00:08:42 Torah has lots of lots of instructions
00:08:45 that are useful in your everyday walk as
00:08:48 you’re about in the world as you after
00:08:50 after you’ve left your tent door uh and
00:08:54 and uh all all the way through the day
00:08:56 until you go back into your tent door
00:08:59 study in Torah there’s tons of
00:09:02 instruction within the Torah for your
00:09:05 everyday
00:09:06 Behavior
00:09:09 correct um so another lesson that’s not
00:09:13 quite I know that’s not quite where
00:09:15 we’re going with this but no no that’s
00:09:17 fine I mean if you want to do more we
00:09:18 can um but if that if we’re done with
00:09:22 that maybe we go on to the main point I
00:09:25 want to bring out and then we do want to
00:09:27 take some more time and just maybe
00:09:28 reading 37 on maybe
00:09:32 also goad point out point out by by
00:09:35 Ben’s comment he’s he’s not referring to
00:09:38 talmud oh oh yes thank you thank you

00:09:47 yeah so uh it is interesting here what
00:09:51 uh Yahweh did with this uh Leona from
00:09:55 time to time and I I’ll read this and
00:09:58 there is a couple verses that has it so
00:10:00 maybe we’ll take turns reading I’ll
00:10:01 start so verse 26 and it oh this is 1i
00:10:06 16 if I forgot to mention and it came to
00:10:09 pass that the voice of Yahweh said unto
00:10:13 him uh and that’s going to be Lehi I
00:10:18 believe uh look upon the ball and behold
00:10:21 the things which are
00:10:24 written so
00:10:27 um Lehi had to read the inscriptions
00:10:31 words upon the Leona I mean that’s
00:10:34 pretty basic there uh Ben you want to
00:10:37 read 27 and it came to pass that when my
00:10:40 father beheld the things which were
00:10:43 written upon the ball he did fear and
00:10:46 tremble exceedingly and also my brethren
00:10:48 and the sons of ishamael and our wives
00:10:51 so it seems to me that he was seeing
00:10:53 judgment written upon the
00:10:56 ball so th this
00:10:59 uh yeah with the word tremble I would
00:11:02 say it’s the normal fear or the Greek
00:11:05 fear but uh the word behind fear can be
00:11:09 rever and this is where you have to take
00:11:11 context in account but with the tremble
00:11:13 yes that would be fear so yeah I would
00:11:15 go along with
00:11:18 judgment uh Zach you want to read
00:11:22 28 and I came to pass that I ne I beheld
00:11:25 the pointers which were in the ball that
00:11:28 they did work according to the Fai and
00:11:30 diligence and heed which we did give
00:11:33 unto them

00:11:39 Covenant Section 8 about how we receive
00:11:42 Revelation well let’s go look at that
00:11:43 real
00:11:48 quick this is given to Oliver calary
00:11:51 after he failed to properly use the
00:11:56 interpreters so do you have a particular
00:11:59 uh
00:12:01 ver okay hold still let me okay so let
00:12:05 me pause while we find the one we want
00:12:10 okay okay so we found what Ben was
00:12:13 thinking of and it’s DNC nine yeah not
00:12:17 eight nine
00:12:19 sorry that’s fine we’re in the we’ll
00:12:22 we’ll we’ll start in verse seven behold
00:12:24 you have not understood you have
00:12:27 supposed that I would give it unto you
00:12:30 when you took no thought save it was to
00:12:32 ask me but behold I say unto you that
00:12:35 you must study it out in your mind I.E
00:12:37 give due Eed and diligence and faithful
00:12:41 study but then you must ask me if it be
00:12:44 right and if it is right I will cause
00:12:46 that your bosom shall burn within you
00:12:48 therefore you shall feel that it is
00:12:49 right but if it be not
00:12:53 right uh you shall have no such feelings
00:12:55 but you shall have a stuper of thought
00:12:57 which shall cause you to forget the
00:12:58 thing which is wrong there for you
00:12:59 cannot write that which is sacred save
00:13:01 it be given you from me now if you had
00:13:03 known this you could have translated
00:13:06 nevertheless it is not expedient that
00:13:08 you should translate now
00:13:11 so if he had paid
00:13:15 sufficient given sufficient faith and
00:13:19 diligence instead of just sitting there
00:13:22 emptying his mind and hoping and
00:13:24 expecting God to give it to him in the
00:13:27 in a u which by the way is
00:13:30 actually kind of a it’s a common
00:13:34 misunderstanding with people that we we
00:13:36 think that in order to receive things
00:13:38 from God we need to empty our minds but
00:13:40 our minds need to be U on Torah and we
00:13:44 need to be uh we need to be
00:13:48 contemplating his mind and will if we
00:13:50 wish to receive things from y eloh him
00:13:53 and that’s what this is bringing out
00:13:55 right that you need to try to figure out
00:13:57 yourself first
00:13:59 um not just do nothing and just say just
00:14:04 give it to me right and the and the and
00:14:07 so the you know and uh studying out and
00:14:11 uh this faith and diligence this
00:14:13 studying it out in your mind is not mean
00:14:16 when a new idea is presented to you um
00:14:20 that you don’t look at its counterpart
00:14:22 and uh immediately because you felt
00:14:24 really good about it that means it must
00:14:26 be
00:14:27 true that’s um this is not appropriately
00:14:31 studying things out in your mind this is
00:14:32 not being a Berean being a Berean is
00:14:35 about looking back to the word um and so
00:14:39 it’s interesting that in the going back
00:14:43 to the
00:14:43 Leona where we were that it paid that it
00:14:47 worked according to the faith and
00:14:48 diligence which they gave unto The Words
00:14:51 which were written upon
00:14:55 it um
00:15:00 and similarly it does seem also that um
00:15:06 the
00:15:07 interpreters that uh Joseph Smith by
00:15:10 which Joseph Smith interpreted uh
00:15:13 translated The Book of
00:15:15 Mormon worked in the same way for sure
00:15:18 right and since you’re bringing that up
00:15:20 a little bit maybe I’ll get to the point
00:15:23 that I wanted to kind of focus on and
00:15:24 bring out mainly is how uh
00:15:30 Lehi a
00:15:32 messenger had a device that he read
00:15:35 things off
00:15:37 of so did Joseph
00:15:40 Smith he did it for translation and also
00:15:44 just various Revelations
00:15:49 also and so here are two Elijah’s
00:15:54 Messengers that are doing similar things
00:16:00 yes uh and do we want to go through 29
00:16:03 too uh might as well I can read it and
00:16:06 there was also written upon them a new
00:16:09 writing which was
00:16:11 plain uh to
00:16:14 be now um
00:16:17 plain is a Hebrew idiom for Torah now we
00:16:22 do have to take context into account but
00:16:25 I do think with this context is talking
00:16:28 about how it was is related to Torah
00:16:30 what was
00:16:31 written um and that’s how I would read
00:16:35 that well especially in context of which
00:16:38 to give us understanding concerning the
00:16:40 ways of ywa yes thank you that would uh
00:16:45 um so it’s good to add that extra
00:16:47 context there uh but it we could reason
00:16:50 it without that but it is good that Ben
00:16:53 brings that out because that gives
00:16:54 support for that
00:16:57 right um
00:17:00 uh and it was written and changed from
00:17:03 time to time according to the faith and
00:17:07 diligence which we gave unto it so this
00:17:11 is it is shown throughout the scriptures
00:17:15 that uh including with Adam in the book
00:17:18 of Moses and the Israelites during The
00:17:22 Exodus um they progressed when they gave
00:17:25 heed to what he said but when they
00:17:28 didn’t
00:17:29 they were cursed fact
00:17:32 the fiery serpents is one good example
00:17:35 of that uh in
00:17:38 addition to also showing how he still
00:17:42 had his um arm stretched out to help
00:17:47 them even when they were disobeying
00:17:50 right and in in addition to that um I
00:17:55 would
00:17:57 say that those who
00:18:01 have exhibited the signs that follow
00:18:04 those that believe have been those who
00:18:09 have responded with faith and
00:18:13 diligence um onto onto the word onto the
00:18:17 word and the revelation of the mind and
00:18:19 will of Y and for these people the leoa
00:18:24 represents that
00:18:27 Revelation you don’t
00:18:29 of the mind and will as well as do the
00:18:31 brass plates they have both the Leona
00:18:34 and the brass
00:18:35 plates yeah now this last sentence I I
00:18:40 do think gets uh Twisted a lot but let’s
00:18:44 read it real quick and then I’ll talk
00:18:45 about it and thus we see that by small
00:18:49 means Yahweh can bring about great
00:18:52 things so everything up to this is
00:18:56 talking about the words written upon the
00:19:02 Leona those are the small and simple
00:19:05 things that Yahweh brings about great
00:19:08 things his words not just it’s not a
00:19:12 miraculous metal
00:19:14 ball it’s the words it’s the words and
00:19:17 it’s
00:19:18 not doing nice and warm and fuzzy
00:19:22 actions for random
00:19:25 people it’s obeying his words that’s how
00:19:29 great things are brought to pass yeah
00:19:31 it’s uh not by doing uh warm and fuzzy
00:19:34 things for random people and making sure
00:19:36 that there’s a camera available to make
00:19:38 sure that it’s
00:19:39 caught yeah yeah um and um so I do want
00:19:44 to look at Alma
00:19:46 37 um now in Elma 37 there’s this same
00:19:50 basic phrase there um and in Alma 37 is
00:19:55 not being applied to the words from the
00:19:57 Leona
00:19:59 it’s being applied to the words in the
00:20:02 brass plates which is Torah
00:20:07 oh um
00:20:09 so let me we can go look at that real
00:20:12 quick let me pause find the exact
00:20:17 verse okay so verses six and seven in
00:20:22 Elma 37 talks about the small and simple
00:20:24 things okay but we do want to start
00:20:27 earlier than that and we’re going to
00:20:29 start at two to give the context of what
00:20:32 these small means actually are okay that
00:20:37 confound the wise
00:20:41 oh and that’s not just simple random X
00:20:45 of kognus
00:20:47 sorry
00:20:49 um that’s words but let’s get the
00:20:51 context okay so Zack you want to read
00:20:54 verse two for us
00:20:59 and I also command you that you keep a
00:21:01 record of this people according as
00:21:03 according as I have done on the plates
00:21:06 of Nephi and keep all these things
00:21:09 sacred which I have kept even as I have
00:21:12 kept them for it is for a wise purpose
00:21:15 that they are
00:21:17 kept so the these are records that
00:21:21 contains uh I would well these are the
00:21:25 brass plates so these
00:21:27 are um
00:21:29 yahweh’s words this also has to do with
00:21:32 the history of NE you know the leites
00:21:35 which also contains yah’s words right
00:21:39 yeah and so Ben you want to read verse
00:21:41 three and these plates of brass which
00:21:43 contain these Engravings which have the
00:21:45 records of the Holy scriptures upon them
00:21:46 which have the genealogy of our
00:21:48 forefathers even from the beginning okay
00:21:52 so brass plates and so the brass plates
00:21:55 is primarily the Old Testament uh or
00:21:58 also known as the
00:22:00 tanak and there is no debate in there
00:22:05 that that that’s Torah and
00:22:08 history that is getting people to remind
00:22:12 them to keep Torah right right and also
00:22:16 and also there are some U prophecies
00:22:19 which are cited in the Book of Mormon
00:22:21 which you don’t find in our current bi
00:22:24 in our current Bible or the
00:22:26 t uh that um that were also on the brass
00:22:32 plates right um so the the tan we have
00:22:37 today I think is uh it’s lost documents
00:22:41 and I have a a post about that even
00:22:45 talks about
00:22:47 how um the top
00:22:50 leaders took books out I’ll put a link
00:22:53 to it um so you can go read it it’s got
00:22:57 quotes on that um
00:23:00 but um just because it’s in the Bible
00:23:03 doesn’t mean it’s the only word of
00:23:05 Yahweh Elohim in fact the Bible States
00:23:09 there’s other books that are yahweh’s
00:23:11 words that are not in the Bible showing
00:23:14 the Bible is not the only word of Yahweh
00:23:17 so yep and just which also go which also
00:23:21 goes along with its uh companion idea
00:23:24 that just because it’s not in the Bible
00:23:26 does not mean that it is not the word of
00:23:29 God correct correct um in fact there are
00:23:36 uh there are there there is uh there is
00:23:40 much of the word of God that is yet to
00:23:44 be revealed including his dealings with
00:23:47 all
00:23:49 mankind y uh which kind of goes along
00:23:52 with uh second Nephi 29 that we’re going
00:23:56 to get more which will reveal to all
00:23:59 those who have had who have had Faith
00:24:02 sufficient to believe on his
00:24:04 word uh which will
00:24:07 reveal these things will reveal to them
00:24:10 his faithfulness in working with all of
00:24:13 the children of men and everybody that
00:24:14 everybody’s had a
00:24:16 chance yeah which goes along with what
00:24:20 Yahweh
00:24:21 told uh Enoch uh in Moses 7 yes which
00:24:27 goes against baptism for the dead but
00:24:29 anyways we’re sidetracking keep but
00:24:32 we’re Sidetrack we s we Sidetrack we
00:24:34 never do that well it is related and we
00:24:37 don’t need to go more than that no we
00:24:39 don’t yeah we don’t need to go any
00:24:40 further than that but anyway so the
00:24:42 these are the records of the Holy
00:24:43 scriptures genealogy of forefathers um
00:24:46 now it’s interesting that it’s
00:24:48 interesting that the U that both of
00:24:52 those are considered important enough to
00:24:55 be on the plates of brass holy
00:24:57 scriptures and complete
00:25:00 genealogies
00:25:02 that’s um and I I think the main reason
00:25:06 for the genealogies genealogies is so
00:25:09 people can know their tribe yes addition
00:25:13 such that they’re keeping track of the
00:25:16 line of the Messiah yes because of the
00:25:19 promises that go along with that um now
00:25:23 this is a little Sidetrack but it is
00:25:26 related just to that statement
00:25:32 um the oh no
00:25:35 I’ve it’s on the tip of my
00:25:39 tongue uh let me pause one
00:25:44 minute I wish I could help
00:25:47 you okay and now I I can say what’s on
00:25:51 the tip of my tongue now lever law okay
00:25:54 yeah lever law so it’s interesting uh
00:25:59 um The Book of Ruth has an exam and I
00:26:03 think it’s Matthew but the
00:26:06 genealogies of the Messiah in m in
00:26:11 Matthew which is related to Ruth shows
00:26:15 the line went through
00:26:19 Boaz not Ruth first husband and Ruth
00:26:25 only had one son
00:26:30 so uh I’m only bringing this up to show
00:26:34 that some people will use Le law more
00:26:39 than is Justified in the scriptures okay
00:26:44 um
00:26:45 because although lever law is true it’s
00:26:49 more it’s
00:26:51 symbolic
00:26:53 and it didn’t do anything with the
00:26:56 genealogies
00:26:58 because the genealogy of the Messiah
00:27:01 went through Boaz not Ruth’s first
00:27:06 husband right and the other thing about
00:27:09 that is that um the other thing that
00:27:12 boat the example of Ruth and Boaz and
00:27:14 the lever at marriage shows us is that
00:27:16 the lever at marriage would could only
00:27:19 be Redeemed by one still
00:27:22 unmarried correct uh meaning uh polygamy
00:27:28 is not true meaning that the leverate
00:27:31 law is not a justification for polygamy
00:27:34 uh yes yes that’s probably uh better
00:27:36 more specific in this case so yes uh
00:27:39 because that is why the other guy would
00:27:42 have been defiled because he already had
00:27:44 a
00:27:46 wife where whatever would it caused the
00:27:51 the closer can to be defiled did not
00:27:54 cause Boaz to be defiled and
00:27:56 that’s the only thing is that The Closer
00:28:01 Ken was already
00:28:05 married um because if it was something
00:28:08 about Ruth Why didn’t it make why didn’t
00:28:11 wasn’t a problem with Boaz but
00:28:14 anyways so moving on to
00:28:18 four uh yes I think it’s uh my turn or
00:28:24 your turn or Matt do you want to read
00:28:26 Matt yeah okay verse four right yeah
00:28:31 here we
00:28:32 go behold it has been prophesied by our
00:28:36 fathers that they should be kept and
00:28:39 handed down from one generation to
00:28:41 another and be kept and preserved by the
00:28:43 hand of the of Yahweh until they should
00:28:46 go forth unto Every Nation Kindred
00:28:49 tongue and people oh wait so this is
00:28:51 talking this is not talking Old
00:28:54 Testament that’s done that this is
00:28:55 talking about the brass blades
00:28:59 and also this is also it’s also
00:29:02 extremely important that you realize
00:29:04 that this is actually talking about the
00:29:06 brass plates and not about the Book of
00:29:08 Mormon correct correct um and the last
00:29:13 part is absolutely essential that they
00:29:16 shall know of the
00:29:19 Mysteries Mysteries contained
00:29:22 thereon oh so there’s mysteries in
00:29:25 Torah yes and also
00:29:28 uh you know an example of the mystery of
00:29:31 mysteries being in the word um that Elma
00:29:36 chapter 40 is an example of mysteries
00:29:38 being contained in the word yeah and

00:29:49 nowhere Mysteries are contained within
00:29:51 the word so the idea that we’re
00:29:53 constantly evolving and that our new
00:29:55 ideas are better than our last ideas
00:29:58 that’s Greek that’s Greek uh philosophy
00:30:01 and thought right and that is you’re
00:30:05 pretty much stating that what’s in the
00:30:07 scriptures is not from Yahweh if that’s
00:30:09 what you’re thinking right be because if
00:30:14 it is getting better and no longer
00:30:17 relevant that means it wasn’t from
00:30:18 Yahweh
00:30:20 so um yeah anyways he does reveal new
00:30:25 and great things to those who are
00:30:28 striving to keep Torah not those who are
00:30:31 fighting against
00:30:33 it yeah uh five I’ll read it and now
00:30:38 behold if they are kept they must retain
00:30:41 their
00:30:43 brightness uh as in their light as in
00:30:47 Torah is
00:30:49 light yay and they shall retain their
00:30:52 brightness yay and also shall all the
00:30:55 plates which do contain that which is
00:30:58 holy RIT so so far this is actually
00:31:01 talking on a couple of levels here first
00:31:05 he’s basically telling them to take care
00:31:07 of the records cor make sure they
00:31:10 maintain their appearance and that they
00:31:14 maintain and that they are well I.E
00:31:17 they’re wellmaintained so that they can
00:31:18 be easily read sure sure I agree with
00:31:21 that I was just focusing on the more
00:31:23 more important course the spiritual and
00:31:25 of course Stephen did a very good job
00:31:27 bringing out the spiritual aspect of
00:31:30 this to retain their brightness retain
00:31:33 the light that is within them and that
00:31:36 light is the and that light is the light
00:31:39 that light is the word and the word is
00:31:41 the light and life of man
00:31:47 so yeah and so uh everything that we’ve
00:31:51 read uh verses 2 through five has to do
00:31:55 with the written word right
00:31:59 yep yep but but I have a feeling now
00:32:01 that uh I have a feeling now that people
00:32:03 are about to change

00:32:53 brings about the salvation of many

00:32:59 confounding I I’ll I’ll tell
00:33:02 you uh random acts of kindness are good
00:33:05 things to do
00:33:07 okay but they don’t confound the
00:33:12 wise no what confounds the wise are the
00:33:17 words of Yahweh
00:33:20 Elohim in fact maybe let’s uh let’s go
00:33:24 look at the word confound in the
00:33:26 dictionary
00:33:28 well the interesting thing is is that
00:33:31 these are the wise as to the world wise
00:33:34 as to the world correct the words of Y
00:33:38 Elohim uh often confound them and seem
00:33:41 to them as Madness or
00:33:47 stupid they don’t make sense to the man
00:33:50 of the world and the fact that they make
00:33:52 no sense to the man of the world
00:33:54 obviously means there’s something wrong
00:33:55 with the words right wrong
00:34:01 oh
00:34:02 okay uh I think I spelled that right
00:34:04 right yeah yeah okay mingle or blend
00:34:07 things so their forms cannot be
00:34:11 distinguished um no that one doesn’t
00:34:14 apply to throw into
00:34:16 disorder yeah you know showing how their
00:34:20 thoughts are wrong right yep uh to mix
00:34:25 or blend no to perplex
00:34:28 yes um basically showing how the way
00:34:32 that they’re were thinking was wrong cuz
00:34:34 now they’re perplexed or confused
00:34:39 right uh and it also goes along with of
00:34:43 ideas or words and that’s what Torah
00:34:46 goes out against and that also goes
00:34:48 along with what Paul says but we’re
00:34:50 fighting right right and also and for
00:34:53 also definition five is really good okay
00:34:56 go ahead and read that one then
00:34:58 to abash to throw the Mind into disorder
00:35:01 to cast down to make ashamed so it makes
00:35:05 the wise ashamed it casts it casts the
00:35:09 because the the wisdom of the world is
00:35:11 disordered to God and so it casts their
00:35:14 wisdom into
00:35:18 disorder and uh it casts down their
00:35:23 wisdom and only and only the wisdom of Y
00:35:28 Elohim is made is exalted in his
00:35:33 word yeah uh and then six actually goes
00:35:36 along with what we saw in first
00:35:39 516 perplexed with Terror right yep and
00:35:45 that’s words do that to throw into
00:35:50 consternation to
00:35:52 Stupify just got
00:35:55 a that um
00:35:58 that’s kind of a funny word but anyways
00:36:01 um with
00:36:02 amazement um which that Al kind of goes
00:36:06 along with the mining strong one and his
00:36:09 helper at the end of Isaiah 52 when they
00:36:13 go out and do missionary work after
00:36:15 they’re brought back from the
00:36:17 dead yep where they they’ll teach the
00:36:20 Kings and they the Kings will start
00:36:24 believing something that they have never
00:36:25 considered right yeah yeah because two
00:36:29 people have been brought back from the
00:36:30 dead to declare it to them yeah so
00:36:34 they’re going to have some miraculous
00:36:36 reason to uh believe it but overthrows
00:36:40 their wisdom yes but that was only made
00:36:45 possible because those two are keeping
00:36:48 Torah such that
00:36:51 Yahweh um gave them power because
00:36:55 they’re keeping Torah and and that the
00:36:59 second helper her was also keeping Torah
00:37:03 to be able to bring them back from the
00:37:06 dead hey Sten Stephen yeah practical
00:37:10 example
00:37:12 maybe uh I would like to share an
00:37:15 example of this yeah yeah go ahead go
00:37:17 ahead okay um
00:37:22 so recently there have I’ve had a friend
00:37:27 of mine my my best friend uh when who uh
00:37:33 when who gave me support when it seemed
00:37:36 as if uh a lot of my family even had
00:37:41 tossed me under the bus not been here
00:37:44 but just about everybody
00:37:47 else um but uh recently when I have been
00:37:53 uh trying to live a more Torah centered
00:37:57 life
00:37:58 he has
00:37:59 been questioning a lot of the decisions
00:38:02 that I have
00:38:04 made uh in regards to living
00:38:09 Torah um AKA there are certain
00:38:13 decisions that
00:38:16 uh have helped me keep
00:38:19 Torah which he does
00:38:24 not he does not agree with
00:38:27 um and it it just confounds him and and
00:38:32 it’s just it he can’t describe his
00:38:36 bafflement but yet I am here to tell you
00:38:39 that as I have been living
00:38:42 Torah Yahweh has been hold upholding us
00:38:48 as we’ve lived Torah and he’s helped us
00:38:52 through uh a lot of the uh a lot of
00:38:58 things that I’ll be honest with you if I
00:39:01 didn’t have Torah and wasn’t keeping
00:39:03 Torah I probably would have just you
00:39:08 know followed my nose and kept doing
00:39:11 what I was doing before I was living Tor
00:39:13 which obviously wasn’t working so uh
00:39:17 basically the
00:39:20 criticism he is very much of the world
00:39:24 so those things of the world that are
00:39:26 that bring happiness they’re supposed to
00:39:28 bring happiness there is nothing else
00:39:31 that will bring happiness except for
00:39:33 those things that the world can
00:39:35 offer um and I
00:39:40 say to that my experience
00:39:45 recently that’s not the case as you live
00:39:50 Torah you will receive the inspiration
00:39:53 that you need and when you receive that
00:39:56 inspiration
00:39:59 use
00:40:00 it uh live it take it work with it uh
00:40:04 follow it and you will be uh you will be
00:40:11 blessed to overcome everything uh
00:40:14 overcome those things that may seem
00:40:18 impossible then so I just wanted to go
00:40:21 ahead and um basically
00:40:24 say it’s actually as you
00:40:27 practice Torah and come to Torah and
00:40:31 work with Torah those ideologies of the
00:40:35 world and those people who embrace them
00:40:38 even though they may criticize
00:40:40 you it doesn’t matter what does matter
00:40:44 is what you
00:40:46 do with Yahweh um living his
00:40:50 law and
00:40:52 uh that
00:40:54 bafflement uh that it’s just
00:40:57 you’ll dispel the baffan basically sure
00:40:59 sure sure and because you’re striving to
00:41:03 keep Torah he’s helping you that’s
00:41:06 making these people baffled how in the
00:41:09 world it’s working right
00:41:11 exactly right exactly wh which is kind
00:41:16 of destroying their logic
00:41:19 right because they can’t make sense out
00:41:21 of it as uh they’re perplexed from
00:41:26 definition four for one of them right or
00:41:29 in five they’re they’re like it’s in
00:41:32 disorder they they can’t make sense of
00:41:34 it
00:41:36 right um so just I believe you’re done
00:41:40 right yes I am okay thank you so that is
00:41:43 a good personal example of that in
00:41:45 testimony so the last definition seven
00:41:48 to destroy to
00:41:50 overthrow
00:41:52 um
00:41:53 and yeah always words will destroy the
00:41:56 ways of the world um and I am looking
00:42:02 forward to that happening pretty soon I
00:42:05 mean uh on a mass scale okay
00:42:11 because told us one about a personal um
00:42:15 scale for him uh but I’m talking about a
00:42:19 mass one um so which I’m looking forward
00:42:24 to and and not
00:42:27 uh ultimately I am looking forward to it
00:42:30 but there’s going to be some hard parts
00:42:31 to it but the hardest part is watching
00:42:34 people that we care
00:42:36 about experience the
00:42:39 Heartbreak yeah we don’t want we don’t
00:42:42 want people to experience the
00:42:45 Heartbreak necessarily we would like
00:42:47 people to go ahead we would love it if
00:42:50 people would embrace the truth now and
00:42:53 then spare themselves the
00:42:55 Heartbreak so here’s the thing it’s by
00:42:59 small and simple things and this whole
00:43:01 passage up to this point in context has
00:43:05 been about the writings on the brass
00:43:09 plates being
00:43:11 preserved by taking care of the records
00:43:14 and
00:43:15 by taking care of the
00:43:20 teachings guarding the
00:43:23 teachings we were always supposed to
00:43:26 guard Torah
00:43:27 right and that this uh small and simple
00:43:30 things is the same in Elma 37 the
00:43:33 teachings of Yahweh as it is in first
00:43:36 Nephi 16 which was the teachings of
00:43:39 Yahweh right exactly only here it’s
00:43:43 focusing on the brass plates whereas in
00:43:45 the other it’s focusing on the leono
00:43:47 which brings us back full
00:43:49 circle um again to the
00:43:53 interpreters of to the interpreters by
00:43:56 which Joseph Smith translated the book
00:44:00 of right and received some
00:44:02 Revelations that are recorded in
00:44:05 DNC right uh which um shows the
00:44:11 pattern of a Messengers having these
00:44:16 devices to bring forth word unto
00:44:19 us right and as we and as we go
00:44:24 forward we’ll also see that the
00:44:27 pattern uh and
00:44:31 as you know it’ be interesting to see
00:44:33 what the pattern and the it’ll be
00:44:35 interesting to see what the pattern is
00:44:37 concerning the mighty and strong ones
00:44:39 and what they are given because Elijah
00:44:41 was given Eli Elisha was given the
00:44:44 Elijah’s Mantle literally um John the
00:44:49 Baptist John the Baptist had nothing
00:44:51 more than teachings the teachings of
00:44:55 Torah right uh so I think we get through
00:44:59 the various might and strong ones we get
00:45:02 um different pictures and different
00:45:05 parts of that but I do think the most
00:45:10 important portion is how the mighty and
00:45:14 strong one gets the
00:45:16 message
00:45:19 and more fully does the message that the
00:45:24 messenger it started right
00:45:27 uh and we can see that even in first or
00:45:30 second Nephi 3 um that the mighty and
00:45:34 strong one will be teaching from the
00:45:37 Bible which I will all also state jst of
00:45:41 it and the Book of Mormon which are
00:45:44 things that came through Joseph Smith
00:45:46 the messenger or Elijah of our
00:45:51 day yes I also do believe that Joseph
00:45:55 Smith will have a hand in
00:45:57 the calling or at least part of the
00:45:59 calling of the mighty and strong one uh
00:46:02 as uh dictated in a couple of the mighty
00:46:05 and strong
00:46:06 one on in the
00:46:10 scriptures
00:46:12 Mo
00:46:14 um no
00:46:18 um Jethro Called Moses Jethro laid his
00:46:22 hands on Moses yeah uh and then
00:46:30 Samu yeah Elijah uh on Elisha in the DNC
00:46:36 it does state that Joseph Smith will
00:46:38 call the next one also um so there’s a
00:46:41 couple examples from the scriptures but
00:46:45 um maybe what I would like to do next is
00:46:47 look at the description of the Leona in
00:46:50 Elma
00:46:51 37 okay um and I it’s to me it’s very
00:46:58 telling that it’s uh resembles the Holy
00:47:02 Spirit uh which is also known as Torah
00:47:06 so uh let’s go to
00:47:11 38 and read through
00:47:14 45 uh and I’ll I can start
00:47:17 it and now my son I have somewhat to say
00:47:21 concerning the thing which our fathers
00:47:23 called a ball or a
00:47:25 director um um so ball has to do with
00:47:29 Heavenly things versus a square and a
00:47:32 director is something that tells us what
00:47:34 to do right
00:47:37 um and so one thing in my patrial
00:47:41 blessing States is that I should study
00:47:44 the scriptures to know what to do um so
00:47:49 and you will find y’s words SL Torah
00:47:53 because I I would consider I consider
00:47:56 all of y’all always
00:47:58 words that are for Eternal and not just
00:48:01 punishments as
00:48:03 Torah um because Paul and Yeshua both
00:48:07 stated that the rest the whole tanok and
00:48:11 on top of quotequote Torah the first
00:48:13 five books is
00:48:14 Torah
00:48:16 um so but anyways uh continuing on our
00:48:21 fathers called it the Leona which being
00:48:23 interpreted as a compass which is
00:48:26 something that helps us stay on the path
00:48:29 that we need to be on right which goes
00:48:31 along with Torah uh which tells us how
00:48:34 we should walk and Yahweh prepared it
00:48:39 and
00:48:41 Yahweh uh prepared Torah for us
00:48:45 also um so for me 38 really describes
00:48:49 Torah in addition to Leona but the Leona
00:48:51 points to the Holy Spirit which I can’t
00:48:56 h
00:48:57 I know the Book of Mormon somewhere
00:48:58 States it does point to the Holy Spirit
00:49:01 I can’t remember if it’s this passage or
00:49:02 another one but
00:49:04 anyways um but the holy spirit is Torah

00:49:10 39 and behold there cannot any man work
00:49:13 after the manner of so curious a
00:49:15 workmanship and behold it was prepared
00:49:17 to show unto our fathers the course
00:49:20 which they should travel in the
00:49:21 wilderness now the Wilderness is a very
00:49:24 symbolic uh terminology for our life our
00:49:28 test uh that while we’re here uh and we
00:49:32 are given uh this direct just like Nephi
00:49:38 Lehi and Nephi were given this director
00:49:41 to take lead them through the Wilderness
00:49:43 we also have directions given to us in
00:49:47 the Torah on how to walk out our faith
00:49:49 as we’re traveling in the
00:49:51 wilderness um you that’s similar is
00:49:55 again I Tor all over the
00:49:59 Le

00:51:44 are okay starting in verse 15 while it
00:51:48 is said today if you will hear his voice
00:51:50 Harden not your hearts as in the
00:51:52 provocation how can God will not be God
00:51:56 will not write his will not write his
00:51:58 law Upon A Hard heart Harden not your
00:52:01 hearts as in the
00:52:03 provocation this is Israel in the
00:52:05 wilderness provoking their God yeah this
00:52:08 is pointed to Mount Si when they were
00:52:11 breaking the law while Moses was and
00:52:14 it’s also and it’s also pointing to the
00:52:16 fact that they chose to believe the 10
00:52:18 negative Witnesses and not the two
00:52:19 positive ones yeah okay yeah I see that
00:52:23 for some when they had heard did provoke
00:52:26 how be it not all that came out of Egypt
00:52:29 by Moses but with whom he was grieved
00:52:32 for grieved 40 years but with whom was
00:52:35 he grieved 40 years was it not with them
00:52:37 that had sinned whose carcasses fell in
00:52:38 the wilderness unto whom swear he that
00:52:41 they should not enter into his rest but
00:52:43 them that believed
00:52:45 not so we see that they could not enter
00:52:48 in because of unbelief go on down I
00:52:51 think that’s the bottom is
00:52:53 that is that the end of it they could
00:52:56 you want me to do the next uh chapter

00:53:45 Yeshua but the word preached did not
00:53:47 profit them not being mixed with faith
00:53:50 in them that heard it for we which have
00:53:53 believed do meaning they did not mix
00:53:56 with meaning they didn’t have faith
00:54:00 right right they they heard the words
00:54:04 but they didn’t believe it nor were they
00:54:06 uh
00:54:07 diligent they did not believe in they
00:54:10 did not believe in yah they did not come
00:54:12 under his
00:54:14 covering yeah yeah in fact at the Mount
00:54:17 Si when Moses didn’t come down quick
00:54:20 enough they built an altar of a golden
00:54:23 calf and said this is the god brought us
00:54:26 out of Egypt brought us out of Egypt
00:54:30 showing they really didn’t
00:54:32 believe for we who for we which have
00:54:36 desired which have believed do enter
00:54:39 into rest as he said as I have sworn in
00:54:42 my wrath if they shall if they shall
00:54:44 enter into my rest although the works
00:54:46 were finished from the foundation of the
00:54:48 world oh what what was the work that was
00:54:50 finished from the foundation of the
00:54:52 world sorry Christians you’re not
00:54:54 special it was the atonement
00:54:57 yeah because as in Revelations it brings
00:55:01 out that uh yesu was slain from the
00:55:05 foundation of the world for he spake in
00:55:09 certain place of the seventh day on this
00:55:11 wise and God did rest the seventh day
00:55:14 from all his
00:55:16 works and so this is why we observe the
00:55:20 seventh day
00:55:22 Sabbath of the new according to yahweh’s
00:55:24 calendar not man’s calar the seventh day
00:55:27 Sabbath of the new moon
00:55:30 yeah because it’s according to his
00:55:35 calendar um and so this and and so that
00:55:38 we might enter into his rest because we
00:55:41 believe and if you’re and if your and if
00:55:44 your belief according to James chapter 2
00:55:48 if your belief is not mingled with
00:55:50 actually doing the
00:55:53 word
00:55:54 sorry you’re just so it’s not really
00:56:00 Faith yeah faith without works is dead
00:56:05 um there anyways so there so there so so
00:56:09 this is the thing that we so let’s go
00:56:11 back to Alma chapter
00:56:14 37 so this is the this is the thing
00:56:18 here um that it all works according to
00:56:22 our
00:56:23 faith and we need to soften our hearts
00:56:27 because God cannot because God it’s not
00:56:29 that he it’s not that he can’t what he
00:56:32 can do with a hard heart is break
00:56:36 it but what he can do with a soft heart
00:56:38 that believes is write his law upon
00:56:41 it and then you can become as you walk
00:56:44 according to that law which is written
00:56:46 upon your heart as you walk out your
00:56:49 faith because you have been
00:56:50 redeemed you can
00:56:52 become a Son of God this is the promise
00:56:56 it’s extended to all people who follow
00:56:58 Yeshua in Full Faith and
00:57:02 fellowship yeah uh so if you’re done
00:57:07 I’ll say just a little bit more so ether
00:57:10 12 I think goes along with this very
00:57:12 well in that um Mormon I mean Moroni
00:57:18 brings out how that before a miracle
00:57:21 happens you have to have faith which and
00:57:24 I I Define faith as
00:57:27 trust and
00:57:29 diligence by the way that definition is
00:57:31 stated openly in mosiah chapter
00:57:34 4 oh that’s cool um let’s go look at

00:58:10 definition of Faith um given of

00:58:28 knowledge of the goodness of Elohim and
00:58:30 his matchless power and his wisdom and
00:58:32 his patience his long suffering towards
00:58:34 the Children of Men I’m reminded of gen
00:58:37 of Exodus 34: 6 and 7 also the atonement
00:58:42 which has been prepared from the
00:58:43 foundation of the world that thereby
00:58:45 salvation might come unto him that
00:58:47 should put his trust in the Lord and
00:58:50 should be diligent in keeping his
00:58:52 Commandments and continue in the faith
00:58:57 until the end of histo the end of his
00:59:00 life this is the beginning of the
00:59:04 faith and continue in the faith even
00:59:08 unto the end of his life I mean the life
00:59:11 of the Mortal body so although this is a
00:59:14 good find although it doesn’t directly
00:59:16 say the word faith if you
00:59:20 know that continuing the faith is going
00:59:23 off of what was just right what was
00:59:25 stated so that’s tying Faith to that in
00:59:28 addition you have to have sa uh Faith to
00:59:33 gain salvation so even just the
00:59:36 Salvation here key word points to it
00:59:39 being Faith but then here it’s saying
00:59:41 stay keep doing it this is
00:59:45 stating that faith is trust and
00:59:48 diligence so that’s cool
00:59:50 find I thought it was pretty cool too

00:59:56 I I kind of reasoned it out out of other
00:59:58 things but that I am going to remember
