What is being referred to as “these things” from Ether 3:13? Notice it does not say because I showed myself to you. Which if that is the case wouldn’t it be this thing, singular, instead of these things which is plural? Including Ether 3:11-12 for additional context.
Ether 3
11 And the Lord said unto him: Believest thou the words which I shall speak?
12 And he answered: Yea, Lord, I know that thou speakest the truth, for thou art a God of truth, and canst not lie.
13 And when he had said these words, behold, the Lord showed himself unto him, and said: Because thou knowest these things ye are redeemed from the fall; therefore ye are brought back into my presence; therefore I show myself unto you.
First the YHWH asks if the brother of Jared will believe His words, then the brother of Jared says yes, and then YHWH says you are redeemed and shows Himself to the brother of Jared.
I am inclined to believe that is believing is heeding in YWHW words and voice which makes it so we can be saved. (Note heeding means believing and following.)
2 Nephi 9:21 teaches us the same principle.
2 Nephi 9:21 And he cometh into the world that he may save all men if they will hearken unto his voice; for behold, he suffereth the pains of all men, yea, the pains of every living creature, both men, women, and children, who belong to the family of Adam.
I’d like to focus the following portion “And he cometh into the world that he may save all men if they will hearken unto his voice”. “That he may save all men if they will hearken unto his voice” that is powerful. Those who hearken unto the Lord’s voice not a man’s voice will be saved.
I plan to search the scriptures to find more examples of this principle, which I believe there are, I just don’t remember the verses.
