D&C (LDS 85:1-12)
AAA 1 It is the duty of the Lord’s [YHWH’s] clerk,
AAB whom He has appointed,
A-B to keep a history,
A–C and a general church record of all things that transpire in Zion,
A–C and of all those who consecrate properties,
A-B and receive inheritances legally from the bishop;
AA 2 And also their manner of life, their faith, and works;
-BA and also of the apostates who apostatize after receiving their inheritances.
-B-B 3 It is contrary to the will and commandment of God [Elohim]
-B–C that those who receive not their inheritance by consecration,
-B—D agreeable to His law,
-B—D which He has given,
-B–C that He may tithe His people,
-B-B to prepare them against the day of vengeance and burning,
-BA should have their names enrolled with the people of God [Elohim].
–CA 4 Neither is their genealogy to be kept,
–C-B or to be had where it may be found
–C–C on any of the records or history of the church.
–C-B 5 Their names shall not be found,
–CAAA neither the names of the fathers,
–CAAB nor the names of the children
–CABA written in the book of the law of God [Elohim],
–CABB saith the Lord [YHWH] of Hosts.
—DA 6 Yea, thus saith the still small voice,
—DB which whispereth through and pierceth all things,
—DC and often times it maketh my bones to quake while it maketh manifest, saying:
—-EA 7 And it shall come to pass
—-EB that I, the Lord [YHWH] God [Elohim],
—–F will send one mighty and strong,
——G holding the scepter of power in his hand,
——-H clothed with light for a covering,
——–I whose mouth shall utter words,
——–I eternal words;
——-H while his bowels shall be a fountain of truth,
——GA to set in order the house of God [Elohim],
——GB and to arrange by lot the inheritances
—–FA of the saints whose names are found,
—–FB and the names of their fathers,
—–FC and of their children,
—-E enrolled in the book of the law of God [Elohim];
—DA 8 While that man,
—D-B who was called of God [Elohim] and appointed,
—D–C that putteth forth his hand to steady the ark of God [Elohim],
—D-B shall fall by the shaft of death,
—DA like as a tree that is smitten by the vivid shaft of lightning.
–CA 9 And all they who are not found written in the book of remembrance
–C-B shall find none inheritance in that day,
–C–C but they shall be cut asunder,
–C-B and their portion shall be appointed them among unbelievers,
–CA where are wailing and gnashing of teeth.
-BAA 10 These things I say not of myself;
-BAB therefore, as the Lord [YHWH] speaketh,
-BAC He will also fulfil.
-B-B 11 And they who are of the High Priesthood,
-B–CA whose names are not found written in the book of the law,
-B–CB or that are found to have apostatized,
-B–CC or to have been cut off from the church,
-B-BA as well as the lesser priesthood,
-B-BB or the members,
-BAA in that day
-BAB shall not find an inheritance
-BAC among the saints of the Most High;
AA 12 Therefore, it shall be done unto them as unto the children of the priest,
AB as will be found recorded in the second chapter and sixty-first and second verses of Ezra.

Ezra 2:61-62
61 And of the children of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai; which took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name: 62 These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.

I brought out this chiasmus for myself becasue doing so helps me better understand YHWH’s words. In that the supporting stanzas either complement or constrast each other, giving additional insights and more depth.

The center of a chiasmus is the focus of the poem. In D&C (LDS 85:1-12) it is the words that the Mighty and Strong One will speak which will be eternal words thus words from YHWH Elohim whose mouth piece he will be.

Stanza G tells us the Mighty and Strong One will have power and authority to put YHWH’s people back in order. And yes house of Elohim [God] is an idiom for YHWH’s people as shown in JST 1 Timothy 3:15. The fact that the Mighty and Strong One will need to put YHWH Elohim’s people back in order tells us there will be problems before he comes.

JST 1 Timothy 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God [Elohim], which is the church of the living God [Elohim].

The Mighty and Strong One will have a lot of challenging tasks that he will need YHWH’s help to accomplish. In verse 8 we learn that the Mighty and Strong One will die and the imagery surrounding his death shows connections to Satan and his domain. It is interesting in verse 6 which is the other D stanza it uses bone imagery which is also connected to death. A question for all the supposed Mighty and Strong Ones out there deceiving people, are you willing to give your mortal life “by the shaft of death” in service of your fellow men as Yeshua [Jesus] did?

D&C (LDS 85:8)
—DA While that man,
—D-B who was called of God [Elohim] and appointed,
—D–C that putteth forth his hand to steady the ark of God [Elohim],
—D-B shall fall by the shaft of death,
—DA like as a tree that is smitten by the vivid shaft of lightning.

Luke (JST 10:19) (KJV 10:18) And he said unto them, As lightning falleth from heaven, I beheld Satan also falling.

D&C (LDS 85:6)
—DA Yea, thus saith the still small voice,
—DB which whispereth through and pierceth all things,
—DC and often times it maketh my bones to quake while it maketh manifest, saying:

1828 Webster’sDictionary, SHAFT:
1) An arrow; a missile weapin; as the archer and the shaft
2) In mining, a pit or long narrow opening or entrance into a mine.
3) In architecture, the shaft of a column is the body of it, between the base and the capital.
4) Any thing straight; as the shaft of a steeple, and many other things.
5) The stem or stock of a fether or quill.
6) The pole of a carriage, sometimes called tongue or neap. The thills of a chaise or geg are also called shafts.
7) The handle of a weapon.

It is interesting to note how D&C (LDS 85:4-5) states the genealogy of the apostates should not be found on the records of YHWH’s church. Contrast that with how the LDS / Brighamite church has the largest genealogical database in the world. And they are putting everyone’s name in it, no matter if they are apostates or not, or even how they don’t even take peoples names off the records completely.

D&C (LDS 85:4-5)
–CA 4 Neither is their [apostates] genealogy to be kept,
–C-B or to be had where it may be found
–C–C on any of the records or history of the church.
–C-B 5 Their [apostates] names shall not be found,
–CAAA neither the names of the fathers,
–CAAB nor the names of the children
–CABA written in the book of the law of God [Elohim],
–CABB saith the Lord [YHWH] of Hosts.

There is a lot of confusion going around regarding consecration. As it is mentioned in D&C (LDS 85:2-3) I will touch upon it a little. First it is important to know what consecration actually is. When something is consecrated it is dedicated for YHWH and His purposes. There nothing in scriptures including the Doctrine and Covenants that states consecration is giving up everything you own to everyone. If that was the case why is the 8th commandment from Torah “thou shalt not steal”? Even to the point of returning lost objects, and taking care of the lost objects until the owner comes and claims them, see Deuteronomy 22:1-3. In the Doctrine and Covenants consecration is very ofter used synonymously with tithing, as it is here in verse 3 showing the connection with both C stantzas. In D&C (LDS 119) (RLDS 106) (1844 107) YHWH, through the prophet Joseph Smith, tells us that initially every person is to pay all their surplus, and then a tenth of their surplus after that. Nothing about giving everything you owe into a pool that someone controls and hopefully lets you use some of it to take care of your family. One last thing I will point out is how both INTEREST and SURPLUS are in companion DC stanzas and have overlaping definitions as shown below.

D&C (LDS 85:2-3)
-BA 2 … and also of the apostates who apostatize after receiving their inheritances.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, CONSECRATION:
1) The act or ceremony of separating from a common to a sacred use, or of devoting and dedicating a person or thing to the service and worship of God, by certain rites or solemnities. consecration does not make a person or thing really holy, but declares it to be sacred, that is, devoted to God or to divine service; as the consecration of the priests among the Israelites; the consecration of the vessels used in the temple; the consecration of a bishop.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, TITHE:
… appropriately, the tenth part of the increase annually arising from the profits of land and stock …

Exodus 20:15 Thou shalt not steal.

Deuteronomy 5:19 Neither shalt thou steal.

Mosiah (13:22) (RLDS 7:122) … Thou shalt not steal.

Deuteronomy 22:1-3
AA 1 Thou shalt not see thy brother’s ox or his sheep go astray,
AB and hide thyself from them:
-B thou shalt in any case bring them again unto thy brother.
–C 2 And if thy brother be not nigh unto thee,
—D or if thou know him not,
—-E then thou shalt bring it unto thine own house,
—D and it shall be with thee until thy brother seek after it,
–C and thou shalt restore it to him again.
-BA 3 In like manner shalt thou do with his ass;
-BB and so shalt thou do with his raiment;
-BC and with all lost thing of thy brother’s, which he hath lost,
AA and thou hast found, shalt thou do likewise:
AB thou mayest not hide thyself.

D&C (LDS 119) (RLDS 106) (1844 107)
AA 1 Verily, thus saith the Lord [YHWH], I require all their SURPLUS property
AB to be put into the hands of the bishop of My church in Zion,
-BA 2 For the building of Mine house,
-BB and for the laying of the foundation of Zion and for the priesthood,
-BC and for the debts of the Presidency of my Church.
–CA 3 And this shall be the beginning
–CB of the tithing of My people.
—DA 4 And after that,
—DB those who have thus been tithed
—DC shall pay ONE TENTH of all their INTEREST annually;
—-EA and this shall be a STANDING LAW
—-EB unto them FOREVER,
—-EC for My holy priesthood, saith the Lord [YHWH].
—DA 5 Verily I say unto you, it shall come to pass that
—DB all those who gather unto the land of Zion
—DC shall be tithed of their SURPLUS properties,
–CA and shall observe this law,
–CB or they shall not be found worthy to abide among you.
-BAA 6 And I say unto you,
-BAB if My people observe not this law,
-BAC to keep it holy,
-BBA and by this law sanctify the land of Zion unto Me,
-BBB that My statutes and my judgments may be kept thereon,
-BC that it may be most holy,
AA behold, verily I say unto you, it shall not be a land of Zion unto you.
AB 7 And this shall be an ensample unto all the stakes of Zion. Even so. Amen.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, SURPLUS:
1) Overplus; that which remains when use is satisfied; excess beyond what is prescribed or wanted. In the United States, the surplus of wheat and rye not required for consumption or exportation, is distilled.
2) In law, the residuum of an estate, after the debts and legacies are paid.

1828 Webster’s Dictionary, INTEREST:
3) Regard to private profit.
5) Any surplus advantage.

  1. You are misunderstanding verse 8. This is actually referring to the president of the church who will be killed, not the OMS.

  2. My initial thought about your blog is that you are teaching sound doctrine.
