D&C LDS 126

We, Benjamin, from Torah is Eternal, and I, Steven, feel it is important to deliniate why we don’t believe that D&C LDS 126 is from YHWH through Joseph Smith. For a good idea how we think about Brigham Young please see the post King Brigham.

First we will quote D&C LDS 126, such that people know what it says and then after that we will lay out our objections to what is being presented in it.

D&C LDS 126
1 Dear and well-beloved brother, Brigham Young, verily thus saith the Lord unto you: My servant Brigham, it is no more required at your hand to leave your family as in times past, for your offering is acceptable to me. 2 I have seen your labor and toil in journeyings for my name. 3 I therefore command you to send my word abroad, and take especial care of your family from this time, henceforth and forever. Amen.

The first thing we want to address is how it is being claimed that the apostle Brigham Young is no longer required to go out and preach the gospel to the world. History, although not perfect, tells us that eleven of the original twelve apostles and the apostle Paul from the old world were murdered while proclaiming Yeshua / Jesus to the world as the title of “sent ones” entails, which is in fulfilment of a prophecy from Yeshua / Jesus in the Olivette Discourse in Matthew (JST 24:5-9) (KJV 24:4-11). There is no consensus about what happened to John the apostle of the Lamb. Which is interesting for those of the restoration because of revelations that tell us that John the apostle of the Lamb never tasted of death (see John 21:21-23, 3 Nephi (LDS 28:5-10) (RLDS 13:16-22), D&C (LDS 7) (RLDS 7) (1833 6) (1835 33) (1844 33)). If someone is not being sent out, they are no longer a “sent one” thus no longer an apostle.

Reports and legends abound, and they are not always reliable, but it is safe to say that the apostles went far and wide as heralds of the message of the risen Christ. An early legend says they cast lots and divided up the world to determine who would go where so all could hear about Jesus. They suffered greatly for their faith and, in most cases, met violent deaths because of their bold witness and faith in Christ.

In addition to the histories that show that apostles from the old world preached to all the world until their deaths, modern day scripture explicitly states that apostleship is a life long calling, see 3 Nephi (LDS 28:2-3) (RLDS 13:13-15) and D&C (LDS 7:4-5) (RLDS 7) (1833 6) (1835 33) (1844 33).

History and scriptures show the acceptable offering for those who have been called to the office of apostleship is to go out to the non-believers to preach the gospel of Yeshua until they die. Considering this section was supposedly reveled on 1841 Jul 09, Brigham Young did not do this. YHWH Elohim is not a respecter of persons which means YHWH Elohim does not change the rules for different people including Brigham Young and as we will establish next, having a family does not excuse you from going out as an apostle. Nor does YHWH Elohim turn to the left and the right. YHWH Elohim does require a broken heart and a contrite spirit which are Hebrew ways of stating returning to YHWH’s Elohim ways known as the law and Torah. Which when one has, one does not look to deviate from the established way which is clearly stated in YHWH’s word known as the Hebrew scriptures.

Psalm 51:17
A The sacrifices of God [Elohim] are
-B a broken spirit: a broken
-B and a contrite heart,
A O God [Elohim], thou wilt not despise.

With sharing 3 Nephi (LDS 9:14-22) (RLDS 4:42-52) we want to bring out briefly how the Law of Moses, which is primarily the daily two daily lambs also known as PERFORMANCES and ORDIANCES or CARNAL COMMANDMENTS which was given as a punishment, is different than Torah which is eternal and also known as STATUTES, JUDGEMENTS and COMMANDMENTS. Punishments don’t have to be eternal, otherwise I, Steven, would have to go to hell because although I strive to keep Torah as Nephi did, I have sinned in the past and I am deserving of physical and spiritual death. But because of Yeshua’s / Jesus’ atonement, which the Law of Moses points to, I can be with Him for eternity, see Law of Moses for more.

Mosiah (LDS 13:25-33) (RLDS 8:1-12)
AA 25 And it came to pass that after Abinadi had made an end of these sayings that he said unto them:
AB Have ye taught this people that they should observe to do all these things for to keep these commandments?
-B 26 I say unto you, Nay; for if ye had, the Lord would not have caused me to come forth and to prophesy evil concerning this people.
–CA 27 And now ye have said that salvation cometh by the law of Moses [daily performances and ordinances].
–C-B I say unto you that it is EXPEDIENT that ye should keep the LAW OF MOSES [TYPES OF THINGS TO COME] AS YET [AT THIS TIME];

The apostles and seventies did not use the fact that they had families as excuses for not performing their duty. In fact YHWH in the D&C tells Joseph Wakefield and Solomon Humphrey to perform their missionary duties with their families, meaning the families went with them and are also being missionaries in D&C (LDS 52:35-36) (RLDS 52) (1833 54) (1835 66) (1844 66). In D&C (LDS 84:103) (RLDS 32) (1835 4) (1844 4), YHWH mentions the families of those performing missions and states to send any money they receive to their families. While Thomas B Marsh was serving one of his missions, YHWH states He will bless his family while he was on his mission. This statement from YHWH to Thomas B Marsh was given to him before he was set apart as the president of the quorum of the traveling twelve apostles. This is important to bring up because, later when he became an apostle and president of quorum he received more priesthood and more understanding thus making Luke 12:48 important to remember in that when more is given, more is required, showing that having a family is no excuse for not doing your missionary duties. In fact Peter, who was married, was sent out by Yeshua / Jesus without purse or scrip [wallet]. When Yeshua asked the apostles, including the married ones, in Luke 22:35, if they were provided for, the apostles stated that they were taken care of, and this would include their families because making sure a families needs are taken care of is the responsibility of the husband and father, see 1 Timothy 5:8. After the Danites caused Thomas B Marsh to remove his name from the church, Brigham Young became the president of the quorum of the traveling twelve apostles by means contrary to the revelations in the D&C, and thus became what Thomas B Marsh and Peter were and they both were married and never shrunk from their duties because of their families. 1 Corinthians 7 with the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible is a chiasmic letter from Paul about marriage while being missionaries, in which he states you can be a missionary and married. JST 1 Corinthians 7:29 is of particular interest because it states explicitly that when the call comes, that he who has a wife should be like he who is single. JST 1 Corinthians 7:29 “But I speak unto you who are called unto the ministry. But For this I say, brethren, the time that remaineth is but short, it remaineth that ye shall be sent forth unto the ministry. Even both they that who have wives, shall be as though they had none; for ye are called and chosen to do the Lord’s [YHWH’s] work.” Considering what JST 1 Corinthians 7:29 states which is from YHWH’s bosom (see D&C (LDS 35:20) (RLDS 34) (1833 37) (1835 11) (1844 11) and The JST / Inspired Version and Only a Part) LDS D&C 126 is not from the same source nor would it have come through the same medium.

Supposing that this section is a revelation from YHWH, Brigham Young is being told to stay home to take especial care of his family. Below is a small sampling of the horrific way that Brigham Young took care his multitude of wives and children. Not to mention with the fifty five wives that he had, he could in no way give quality time to any of them except his favorites that gave him everything he wanted. This is not a comprehensive list of all the atrocities that Brigham Young committed against his own flesh and blood.

Augusta Adams, one of Young’s first plural wives, was by now THOROUGHLY DISILLUSIONED WITH HER LOT. UNHAPPY at having been “CONSTRAINED” to repeat her sealing to Young in the Nauvoo Temple, she ASKED YOUNG TO GRANT HER A DIFFERENT ETERNAL CONSORT. She still suggest Jesus Christ as her first choice, but she otherwise regularly importuned Young to allow her to be sealed to Joseph Smith for eternity. In April 1848, Young finally gave in and participated in a ceremony in which he promised “to give up Augusta Adams to Joseph Smith in the morning of the first resurrection.” [Brigham Young is making things up as he goes along]
The proxy sealing did not remove Augusta’s earthly discontents. She chafed at her relative insignificance compared to Mary Ann Angell, LOATHED YOUNG’S ATTENTION TO CERTAIN OTHER WIVES, and – probably accentuated because of the prosperity of her first husband – STRUGGLED TO ADUJUST TO TIGHT QUARTERS, POVERTY, and HARD WORK. “May God grant me a negro some day,” she wrote Young. WHEN YOUNG FAILED TO ALLAY HER CONCERNS, she wrote him scores of mournful, plaintive, witty, and acerbic letters, terming the pen her “old faithful weapon.” “I am thankful you are going to have such a delightful excursion with your Lady [Mary Ann],” she sarcastically observed in 1850.” BUT EXPECT I SHOULD BE STILL MORE THANKFUL IF YOU WERE GOING TO SOW HOLY SEED [WITH YOUNGER WIVES].” She hated Mary Ann’s appellations of “Mother Young” and “Queen.” Although at Winter quarters she had expressed fondness of Emmeline Free, she now disliked “dear Emeline[‘s]” reputation as Young’s PREFERRED “CONSORT [SEX].” According to the later recollections of Young’s daughter Susa, Young frequently took Emmeline to social gathers and “responded to her appeals readily.” Her father, Susa explained, “had perhaps the weakness of his strength and HE [BRIGHAM] COULD NOT PAY EQUAL ATTENTION TO FOURTEEN OR FIFTEEN WOMEN.”
Thus, AUGUSTA FELT NEGLECTED, FINANCIALLY, EMOTIONALLY, and SEXUALLY. Though approaching her fiftieth birthday, she was upset that Young told her she “should not have any more children,” and she suggested that a different proxy husband might expand her family. She once sent a request in writing for Young to spend the night with her, and SHE [AUGUSTA] INSISTED THAT SHE DESERVED A HUSBAND WHOM SHE COULD “PROVE … IN THE FLESH.” Like Emily Partridge, Augusta TALKED OF LEAVING THE FAMILY – “I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE FELT SO MUCH LIKE GETTING A DIVORCE AS I NOW DO” – but stayed.
If Young ever read Augusta’s letters, he probably reacted with mixture of irritation and amusement. Augusta addressed him as “LORD BRIGHAM,” “HIS EXCELLENCY,” “MR PROXY,” and “ALIEN.” She termed herself “NAMELESS” and, more endearingly given a strong will that could match her husband’s, the “Lion of the Lord’s … Lioness.” In any event, YOUNG SOMETIMES REFUSED TO SEE HER FOR MONTHS ON END [NEGLECT]. HE [BRIGHAM] HAD NO MORE PATIENCE WITH GRUMBLING WIVES THAN WHINING PIONEERS. Moreover, his early affection for Augusta dissipated. His “feelings had become seared,” she recognized. HE [BRIGHAM] DID NOT, HOWEVER, TAKE HER DIVORCE REQUEST SERIOUSLY, and Augusta apparently made them to PROD YOUNG TO TREAT HER [AUGUSTA] BETTER. Even when Young placated her with carriage ride or requested provisions, though, he found Augusta hard to please. When Young sent her a dress, she gave it away and instead asked or “one of the plain linnen ginghams like Zina’s if you have any left if not one like Emely’s.” If Augusta would spend eternity with Joseph Smith, YOUNG PROBABLY REGARDED HIS LOSS AS A TOLERABLE SETBACK FOR HIS CELESTIAL KINGDOM.

Unlike Augusta, A NUMBER OF DISCONTENTED WIVES DID SERVER THEIR TIES WITH YOUNG, including Diana Chase (before an 1849 remarriage), Mary Eliza Nelson (before an 1850 remarriage), Elizabeth Fairchild (before an 1851 remarriage), Mary Jame Bigelow (1851), Mary Ann Turley (1851) Mary Ann Clark (1851) and Eliza Babcock (1853). MOST HAD NEVER BECOME MEMBERS OF YOUNG’S HOUSEHOLD. Mary Jame Bigelow, sister of Young’s plural wife Lucy Bigelow, started with Young’s company in 1848 but then turned back when she became ill. She crossed the plains with her parents in 1850, moved into a house with Lucy, and then DIVORCED YOUNG THE NEXT YEAR. Upset after receiving a “COOL and DISTANT RESEPTION” from Young at Winter Quarters, Mary Ann Clark Powers remained in Kanesville, Iowa, with her non-Mormon husband. Though she informed Young that she had “not bin a Wife to Mr [William] P[owers]” since her temple sealing, SHE FINALLY ASKED YOUNG FOR A DIVORCE.

An archive in Wisconsin contains some 150 letters that Augusta Adams Cobb wrote to Brigham Young from 1844 to the 1860s. Augusta was Brigham’s second plural wife (of 55 total). A boston Brahmin [Hindo priest], herbalist, and cultural feminist [and a Cochranite], Augusta abandoned her wealthy first husband and six of her children to marry Brigham Young in 1843. Her letters are replete with the details of their failing relationship. Separating Brigham the prophet from Brigham the man, Augusta found the man an uncouth, lower-class hypocrite who often unfairly chastised her, played his favorite wives against her, and on occasion even whipped her. Although she bitterly complalined, like singer Patsy Cline, the more he abused her, the more she vowed to win back his heart. While they never divorced, Augusta did have Brigham seal her for eternity to Joseph Smith and later asked to be sealed to St. Paul and even Jesus Christ.

In Young v. Young, Ann Eliza Webb Young sued Brigham Young for divorce in 1873, claiming neglect, cruel treatment, and desertion (CHC 5:442-43). …Claiming that Young was worth $8 million and had a monthly income of $40,000, she asked for $1,000 per month pending the trial, a total of $20,000 for counsel fees, and $200,000 for her maintenance. Brigham Young denied her charges and claimed to have a worth of only $600,000 and a monthly income of $6,000. More fundamentally, he pointed out the inconsistency of granting a divorce and alimony for a marriage that was not legally recognized.

Several civil cases involving Brigham Young came before McKean’s court, but undoubtedly the most celebrated was the attempt of Ann Eliza Webb Dee Young, the Prophet’s twenty-seventh wife, to sue for divorce. The facts of the case are well known and need not be reiterated here. Judge Emerson at first referred the case to the probate courts. After the passage of the Poland Act, it was again returned to the Third District Court where McKean heard it. Brigham Young filed a counter petition stating that, though it was unknown to him previously, Ann Eliza was not divorced at the time of the marriage, which was at any rate a ‘plural or celestial marriage’ and thus not legal. The defendant was, in addition, legally married to Mary Ann Angell.

In addition to demonstrating McKean’s poor judgment in some matters, the Ann Eliza case served to show that the Mormons never bothered to define any legal status for plural wives. The only sanctions which the Church imposed were moral and religious, and anyone who chose to disregard them could do so with legal, and sometimes even religious, impunity. Brigham Young argued that the marriage could have no validity at law–that it was only an ecclesiastical affair. Yet on other occasions, Mormons argued that plural wives should have the same rights as did legal wives and they complained at the prosecution for adultery with plural wives. On occasion, as when George Q. Cannon was indicted for polygamy, they took the position that each polygamous wife was also a legal wife.

One thing we saw in the quotes above is how Brigham Young did not take care of his wives and children financially which is not taking “especial care of [his] family” D&C LDS 126:3. In addition 1 Timothy 5:8 clearly states if you don’t take care of your family you have denied the faith and are worse than an infidel. On top of this, D&C (LDS 75:28) (RLDS 75) (183587) (1844 88) states “that every man who is obliged to provide for his own family” which Brigham Young did not do as shown that he demanded that his wives work for their room and board.

Within the Young family, she taught at the family’s school and, as a midwife, helped deliver children, reflecting her husband’s expectation that his WIVES HELP SUPPORT THEMSELVES and CONTRIBUTE TO HIS HOUSEHOLD as their talents and circumstances permitted.

The proxy sealing did not remove Augusta’s earthly discontents. She chafed at her relative insignificance compared to Mary Ann Angell, LOATHED YOUNG’S ATTENTION TO CERTAIN OTHER WIVES, and – probably accentuated because of the prosperity of her first husband – STRUGGLED TO ADUJUST TO TIGHT QUARTERS, POVERTY, and HARD WORK. “May God grant me a negro some day,” she wrote Young. WHEN YOUNG FAILED TO ALLAY HER CONCERNS, she wrote him scores of mournful, plaintive, witty, and acerbic letters, terming the pen her “old faithful weapon.” “I am thankful you are going to have such a delightful excursion with your Lady [Mary Ann],” she sarcastically observed in 1850.” BUT EXPECT I SHOULD BE STILL MORE THANKFUL IF YOU WERE GOING TO SOW HOLY SEED [WITH YOUNGER WIVES].” She hated Mary Ann’s appellations of “Mother Young” and “Queen.” Although at Winter quarters she had expressed fondness of Emmeline Free, she now disliked “dear Emeline[‘s]” reputation as Young’s PREFERRED “CONSORT [SEX].” According to the later recollections of Young’s daughter Susa, Young frequently took Emmeline to social gathers and “responded to her appeals readily.” Her father, Susa explained, “had perhaps the weakness of his strength and HE [BRIGHAM] COULD NOT PAY EQUAL ATTENTION TO FOURTEEN OR FIFTEEN WOMEN.”

Another way that Brigham Young was not taking “especial care of [his] family” D&C LDS 126:3, was that he did not teach his sons correct principles as fathers should. One example is how his son B Morris Young was a cross dresser and this was no secret. As he did it for entertainment while boasting of his leadership position in the LDS / Brighamite church. Sadly this same B Morris Young was a key figure in starting the LDS / Brighamite church Young Mens program. If you ask us, a drag queen is not someone who should have anything to do with young impressionable minds, not to mention helping form the guiding principles of an orginazation to teach young impressionable minds.

Deuteronomy 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.

Historical documents and accounts detail Young cross dressing strictly for public entertainment, but his high profile status as the son of the prophet, and leader in the general leadership of the church, later cleared a path for cross-dressing entertainers who appeared in Utah, some of whom were LGBT.

Brigham Morris Young (January 18, 1854–February 20, 1931 (aged 77)) was one of the founders of the Young Men’s Mutual Improvement Association (YMMIA), the predecessor to the Young Men program of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church).

In the court case with Henry Cobb, his wife Augusta Adams Cobb, and Brigham Young; George J Adams stated in court that Joseph Smith did not teach polygamy but it was Brigham Young who had started that damnable doctrine. Another point condemning Brigham Young, is how he was having sex with married women who were not his wife, namely in this case, because there were other cases, was Augusta Adams Cobb who was still married to Henry Cobb.

When one enters into covenant with YHWH our Elohim. They promise to keep all of His commandments and he promises to make them Kings and priests unto Himself. Kings are not to multiply wives unto themselves as Brigham Young did.

The Book of Mormon only condemns polygamy, including Jacob (LDS 2:30) (RLDS 2:39), which we hope this mirrored chiasmus will make evident that every time THING(S) is used it is refering back to “MANY WIVES and CONCUBINES, which THING was ABOMINABLE” Jacob (LDS 2:24) (RLDS 2:33). Torah teaches that polygamy should not be practiced, when a Hebrew idiom is translated correctly regarding polygamy as it is everywhere else in the Bible. Interestingly enough, Jacob (LDS 2:23-35) (RLDS 2:31-47) is echoing the teachings of Torah regarding polygamy including not specifying a punishment that human judges are to give, but both are clear that YHWH Elohim can and WILL give a punishment for it, if not repented of. 1835 D&C 101 is also repeating Torah teachings on this subject, see Marriage.

A-B Ye have BROKEN the HEARTS of your tender WIVES, and LOST the CONFIDENCE of your CHILDREN,
A–C because of your [the men’s] BAD EXAMPLES before them;
A-B and the SOBBINGS of THEIR HEARTS ascend up to God [Elohim] AGAINST YOU.
AA And because of the STRICTNESS of the WORD OF GOD [ELOHIM], which COMETH DOWN AGAINST YOU, many hearts died, pierced with deep wounds.

While Joseph Smith was working on the JST / Inspired Version / New Translation of the Bible, he was directed to retranslate the following verses, by YHWH Elohim, which corrected these passages from possibly allowing polygamy to being anti-polygamy.

JST 2 Samuel 12:13 And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD [YHWH]. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD [YHWH] also hath not put away thy sin that thou shalt not die.

JST 1 Kings 3:14
A And if thou [Solomon] wilt walk in My [YHWH] ways
-BA to keep My [YHWH] statutes,
-BB and My [YHWH] commandments,
–C then I [YHWH] will lengthen thy [Solomon] days,
-B and thou [Solomon] shalt not walk in unrighteousness,
A as did thy [Solomon] father David.

JST 1 Kings 11:4-6
AA 4 For it came to pass,
AB when Solomon was old,
-B his wives turned away his heart after other gods;
–C and his heart was not perfect with the LORD [YHWH] his God [Elohim],
—D and it became as the heart of David his father.
—DA 5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians,
—DB and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.
–C 6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD [YHWH],
-B as David his father,
A and went not fully after the LORD [YHWH].

JST 1 Kings 15:5
A Because David did right in the eyes of the LORD [YHWH],
-B and turned not aside from all that He [YHWH] commanded him,
–C to sin against the Lord [YHWH];
—D but repented of the evil
–C all the days of his life,
-B save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite,
A wherein the Lord [YHWH] cursed him.

Scriptures show that David repented of polygamy and all his other sins except the murder of Uriah the Hittite. There is no way to repent of murder. The reason David was not put to death for this sin as required by YHWH’s Torah is because there were NOT two or three witnesses as required to establish guilt as stated in Torah. David’s repentant heart is expressed all over the Psalms and indicates a change of heart. Although David repented of his sins, he still had to deal with the consequences of them except YHWH’s wrath because YHWH forgave David and thus no eternal consequences.

BSB 2 Samuel 20:3
AA When David returned to his palace in Jerusalem,
AB he took the ten concubines
-BA he had left to care for the palace,
-BB and he placed them in a house under guard.
-BA He provided for them,
-BB but he no longer slept with them.
AA They were confined until the day of their death,
AB living as widows.

KJV 1 Kings 1:1-4
A 1 Now king David was old and stricken in years;
-BA and they covered him with clothes,
-BB but he gat no heat.
–CAA 2 Wherefore his servants said unto him,
–CAB Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin:
–C-B and let her stand before the king,
–C–C and let her cherish him,
–C–C and let her lie in thy bosom,
–C-B that my lord the king may get heat.
–CA 3 So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel,
—D and found Abishag a Shunammite,

We have already shown how poorly Brigham Young did at taking “especial care of [his] family” D&C LDS 126:3 during his mortal life. Such a man is worse than an infidel. The word “family” includes wives and children, if the statement was only about wives it would have said wives. The reason why this is imporant is because a good father should not be taking care of his children forever because he should be teaching them to be self-sufficent and not relying upon him forever. Those who are ressurected with Celestial glory will receive everything that the Father has, therefore they will not need to be taken care of, see Kingdom of Heaven.

D&C LDS 126:3 … take especial care of your family [wife and children] from this time, henceforth and forever. Amen.

1 Timothy 5:8
AA But if any provide not for his own [family],
AB and specially for those of his own house [family],
BA he hath denied the faith,
BB and is worse than an infidel.

In the start we mentioned how the calling of apostleship is a life time calling, the only exception in the scriptures is Judas because of his transgressions. Is this section stating Brigham Young is a sinner and thus was released from being an apostle aka a sent one?

3 Nephi (LDS 28:2-3) (RLDS 13:13-15)
A-B 2 And they all spake [nine],
A–C save it were three,
A—D saying: We desire that after we have lived unto the age of man,
A—-EA that our ministry,
A—-E-B wherein Thou [Yeshua] hast called us,
A—-EA may have an end,
A—–F that we may speedily come unto Thee [Yeshua] in Thy kingdom.

A——GB Blessed are ye [nine] because ye [nine] desired this thing of Me;
A——GC therefore, after that ye are seventy and two years old

—DA 4 And for this cause the Lord [Yeshua] said unto Peter:

—D—DA For he [John] desired of Me [Yeshua]
—D—DB that he [John] might bring souls unto Me [Yeshua],

—D–CABA desiredst that thou [Peter]
—D–CABB mightest speedily come unto Me [Yeshua]
—D–CABC in My kingdom.
—D–CBA 5 I [Yeshua] say unto thee, Peter,
—D–CBB this was a good desire;
—D-BA but My [Yeshua] [John] beloved has desired that he [John]
—D-BB might do more,
—D-BC or a greater work yet
—DA among men than what he [John] has before done.

With all the horrible things that Brigham Young has done related to this section, we’re not sorry to say there is no way that YHWH Elohim or Joseph Smith would say that Brigham Young was “Well-beloved”. In fact below are tons of statements how people heard Joseph Smith saying the exact opposite. In addition Joseph Smith’s Last Dream is a prophecy which Brigham Young is in and not in a favorable light, which I expound in Joseph Smith’s Last Dream.

Sister Emma (widow of the Martyr) told me that she remembered Joseph having said … “I would pity the people that should follow Brigham as a leader … Because he would lead them to hell.”

One other point I wish to notice in the conversation that took place while I was eating at your father’s table, and that was, as the conversation turned upon Brigham Young, your father remarked that with regard to the charge brought against those brethren, that he expected that he would have trouble with Brigham Young, especially, and added that “should the time ever come that this man B. Young should lead the Church that he would lead it to hell.” And these words I remember as plainly as though they were spoken but yesterday; as at this time I had not known that there could have been a charge of fault brought against the man. My association with this man Brigham Young for near three years previous, had been very limited, in consequence of our different localities and fields of labor.

Joseph Thorn, a resident of San Bernardino, California, being duly sworn, deposes and says: I was personally acquainted with Brigham Young, late President of the Utah Mormon Church, and knew him when both he and I were living in Nauvoo, Illinois; and I heard Joseph Smith, Jr., at a public meeting in a grove east of the Temple in Nauvoo, when he had been reproving said Brigham Young for taking and using for his own private purposes church moneys without authority, say of him, “If Brigham Young ever leads this church he will lead it to hell.” This he said with great emphasis.

To Whom it may Concern: Know ye that I, David Dickson, now residing at Riverside, San Bernardino county, California, was personally present at a public meeting in Nauvoo, Illinois, before the building of the Temple; and there and then saw and heard the Prophet Joseph Smith, while preaching, raise his hand (pointing to Brigham Young who was in the stand with him), saying; “Talk about leading this church; here is Bro. Brigham, if he ever leads this church, he will lead it to hell.” There were more than a thousand people present at the time; several of whom I, David Dickson, know are now living and heard him say it.

Father Cutler and I were in the office, and he said, “Well; brethren, I have heard something today a little strange.” Bro. Cutler asked him if he was going to tell us what it was; he said, “Yes, I am; and I hope that you will make a note of it.” He said. “After we had finished our business, we started for home, and had traveled but a very short distance when Joseph stopped talking and was very much absorbed in thought. He never spoke till we were going down the Temple hill. He then uttered this language aloud; ‘If Brigham Young ever leads this people he will lead them to the devil.’ He never spoke another word. When we got to my house I got out of the buggy and Joseph drove on.”

Mrs. Huntington says: “While living in Nauvoo, I lived three years in Joseph Smith’s family; was well acquainted with church affairs there; and several times heard the Prophet Joseph Smith say, ‘If ever Brigham Young leads this church he will lead it to hell.”

Brigham; if he ever leads this church, he will lead it to hell;” and I believe he was a true prophet of God. I was well acquainted with the two Partridge girls and the two Walker girls and their two brothers William and Lorin Walker, they were orphans, and all lived in the family of Joseph Smith, but I never knew they were any of them his wives; but I saw Susy Walker in 1847 and she had a young baby in her arms, she told me she had been sealed to Joseph for eternity and to Heber C. Kimball for time, and Bro. Heber was acting proxy for Bro. Joseph. Dianthy [Diantha] Farr, daughter of Aaron Farr, told me she was sealed in the same way and Win. Clayton was acting proxy for Bro. Joseph with her. The first I ever heard of the proxy and sealing business was in 1846. Bathsheba Smith, wife of Geo. A., told me of it then.

Crain, was personally acquainted with Joseph Smith from about 1840 to 1844, and that I heard him say to and of Brigham Young, whom I also knew, that if he (Brigham Young) was left to lead the church, the pride of his heart would lead them to hell. This was said at a conference of the Church, in Nauvoo, where there was a large assemblage of the people, and probably in the spring of 1843—possibly 1842.

Did Joseph say anything about the church being led away into this terrible condition? He did, and I heard him. One Sunday afternoon after partaking of the sacrament, Joseph got up and spoke and said, “Brothers and sisters, I am going to warn you to day of things to come. Do not let these things overthrow you, but be faithful and cleanse yourselves from filthiness and everything corrupt. Beware of all kinds of iniquity, for it is in high places.” He then turned round to Parley Pratt, and pointing to him said, Brothers and sisters, if that brother knew what I know, he would turn around and want my life.” The Twelve did not stand by Joseph…. They did not do as they were instructed by that choice seer. He was the man to whom they should have hearkened. He did instruct them…. He also told them, that if they did not cease from their sins God would reject that people; “but,” said he, “God will raise up another people that will keep his commands, and either I or one of my posterity shall be the president and prophet of that people, and he shall be their teacher.” He knew Brigham Young or John Taylor did not have this authority. They were not called to this work, and Joseph was not afraid to lift up his voice and tell them so.
