Summary:
We are not to knowingly eat food offered to idols because that is partaking in how pagan worship their false gods. We should also be careful not to have the appearance we are, to help those weak in the faith to stay faithful. Teachers need to be bold in their teachings and call out false teachings. Paul states he wrote to the teachers, who know and keep Torah. Aaronic priests need to be 25 years Hebrew which is 24 years Greek. LDS church gives into per-pressure. Not eating food offered to idols has been part of YHWH’s Torah since the beginning. Satan has been perverting the truth the same way since the beginning. It is interesting how Rabbis are paid to bless food that could be based off how the pagans sold food offered to idols. Jews incorrectly enforce temple worthy animals as the only food that can be eaten. There are books mentioned in the Bible as scripture that the Bible does not have. The book of Ester and Song of Solomon are not of YHWH. Going over 1 Corinthians 8:4-13 about food offered to idols. There is only one Elohim, pointing to modalism. There are only two Personages, not three. We should worry what YHWH Elohim thinks the most, our spouses next. YHWH has given unrefined Torah to all adults. We all need actual servants of YHWH to help us correctly understand YHWH’s words. If YHWH contradicted Himself, it would not be fair to punish anyone for not keeping His contradicting ways. Corinth was known for it’s wickedness. Aphrodite, the goddess of sex, at the veill in some LDS temples, which is not a good thing. Paul praised the Bereans because they believed what he taught and they checked what he taught with the scriptures. It’s not a sin to eat around those who are eating food offered to idols, the problem is when others think you are eating food offered to idols. There is a difference between mistakes and sins. Leaders and teachers need to be careful how they present themselves in public. The brethren are the members of the church not the leaders as the LDS church claims. It is not wise to appear to do evil, even when you are being righteous. Yes, we are our brother’s keeper. We are commanded to eat lamb during Passover. Other books in the New Testament teach we are not to eat food offered to idols. The requirements for converts in Acts 15 is a summary of Numbers 17-18 plus the need to continue to learn more of Torah during church on the sabbath. The fact you can eat the meat if you don’t know it was offered to idols, shows it’s about not worshipping as the pagans worship and not kosher constraints. YHWH has designed us to desire the opposite sex, and stated that we are to act on it only within the covenant of marriage. Christmas, Easter, and others, is worshipping of false idols. If we knowingly eat what is offered up to devils, we are having fellowship with devils. YHWH’s table meal is the sacrament. April fools was started to shame people into not keeping YHWH’s new year in the spring. With bad translations and not knowing the principles it’s hard to misunderstand. Those who are selling food offered to idols will let you know that is what they did because that is the reason they are selling and people would want to buy it. Since Yeshua is the mortal manifestation of YHWH, Torah is Yeshua’s law, because it’s the same soul in two different modes which is modalism. Book of Revelation is teaching that what is in the 5 books of Moses is still valid. Balaam taught Balac how to get the mixed multitude to sin such as eating food offered to idols, because YHWH teaches the same Torah to all. Balaam, a true prophet of YHWH that later fell, and Balac taught people not to keep Torah just as Christians do today. Law of Moses, a punishment, primarily the two daily lambs, is what was done away with at the cross not Torah. Women have influence over men, for good and evil, depending on the character of the man. The interactions of husband and wife are patterned after Yeshua and the church of the Firstborn. YHWH has made Himself known to more than just Israel as the scriptures teach. Hanging someone from a tree is a punishment prescribed in Torah and happened in the Book of Mormon. Sometimes in the scriptures Law of Moses is used as it is Torah, because Law of Moses is punishments plus Torah. Sinning goes from seemingly innocent to extreme. You are not turning away from Babylon when you are engaging in its practices. The forbidden fruit that Eve part of from Satan’s tree was sin. Revelation 2:20 is bringing out how a group of believers were sinning by partaking of food offered unto idols. Jezebel in Revelation 2:20 was just like the Jezebel in the Old Testament. The New Testament, Book of Mormon and the D&C bring out that Torah is still valid after Yeshua’s death and resurrection. Stop trying to find ways to make Torah null and void. The power of Yeshua is Torah, stop denying YHWH’s power. Torah is about becoming.

JST 4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that which are in the world offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God [Elohim] but one.

Trascript:
00:00:02 Well, uh, today I, uh, wanted to do a
00:00:06 teaching and that everybody was fine
00:00:08 with let me doing off of 1 Corinthians
00:00:11 8. And so, the reason I wanted to do
00:00:13 this is because, well, again, helping
00:00:17 Brennan with his uh, health and kosher
00:00:20 page. And sadly, I have not seen any
00:00:25 other Torah
00:00:28 uh teacher uh teach this chapter
00:00:31 correctly. Um I I do think part of the
00:00:36 problem is we don’t have the other side
00:00:40 of the letter and meaning the question
00:00:44 and the additional information that was
00:00:46 with the question. Okay. Um,
00:00:50 >> if I may.
00:00:51 >> Yeah, go ahead.
00:00:53 >> I also think part of the problem is the
00:00:56 desire to make nice
00:00:58 with people, even if they are completely
00:01:01 off base.
00:01:04 I do think that’s part of the problem as
00:01:06 well with some Torah teachers. They want
00:01:09 to make nice
00:01:12 >> Oh, nice with what other people have
00:01:14 taught.
00:01:15 >> Yeah. Um, I I could see that because if
00:01:19 you bring out um, and I’m not going to
00:01:22 call anybody out specifically. Um,
00:01:24 that’s not my purpose here. Um, but to
00:01:27 add to that, I think there’s also
00:01:30 con confusion in the word what is
00:01:34 actually in Torah on this subject. Okay.
00:01:38 Um,
00:01:41 so I I think there’s probably multiple
00:01:43 parts. I can see how they don’t want to
00:01:45 call someone else out, but you could
00:01:46 just teach what is right without naming
00:01:48 someone. But on that, I will just say
00:01:51 this.
00:01:52 >> Paul did call out false teachers by name
00:01:56 at times. Um so it it’s not wrong to do
00:02:02 that. I know it’s not very polite, but
00:02:06 um I
00:02:07 >> I do believe and I see it in what he
00:02:11 writes. Paul was Torah compliant. Okay,
00:02:15 I know that’s controversial, but um most
00:02:18 people who say he wasn’t.
00:02:20 First of all, they don’t know Torah, and
00:02:22 second of all, they don’t really know
00:02:24 Paul either. So
00:02:26 >> So yeah, I was I was I was just going to
00:02:29 say, yeah, Paul was not anybody’s safe
00:02:32 space.
00:02:34 >> No,
00:02:38 >> no. and and and I think it was Romans 7,
00:02:43 he even brings out that he writes to the
00:02:44 teachers and and teachers are the people
00:02:48 who are uh were ordained in the
00:02:52 priesthood to be teachers. Okay. In
00:02:56 various callings or positions, okay?
00:02:59 >> And normally would they not be more
00:03:01 learned?
00:03:02 >> Yes, they would be. And to get in that
00:03:04 position is first of all if it’s done
00:03:07 correctly is you’re doing
00:03:10 uh Torah in the first place and then
00:03:12 you’re helping others like oh that’s the
00:03:15 purpose of life do it yourself and then
00:03:17 help others.
00:03:18 >> You mean you mean it’s not just
00:03:20 something that happens automatically
00:03:22 when you turn 14?
00:03:25 >> Uh no no. Uh, in fact, just on that
00:03:27 point, I know Ben’s joking around, but
00:03:30 um, in Joseph Smith’s day, it was the
00:03:33 ironic priesthood was only given to
00:03:35 adults. Uh, 25 Hebrew to be specific,
00:03:40 uh, which is 24 Greek. Um, it was in
00:03:44 1920,
00:03:46 give or take, when the LDS church
00:03:48 changed it to give it to teenagers
00:03:51 because other churches were doing things
00:03:54 with teenagers then also. and they
00:03:56 didn’t know what to do with the
00:03:57 competition. So they modified
00:04:01 this church structure structure and
00:04:04 priesthood
00:04:05 um requirements
00:04:09 >> without and I will add without a
00:04:11 revelation they gave into peer pressure
00:04:14 of the world.
00:04:16 >> Not the first time that’s happened but
00:04:18 anyway we don’t have to go.
00:04:19 >> Yes. A couple of a couple of those times
00:04:21 that it happened, you see official
00:04:23 declarations at the back of the Doctrine
00:04:24 of Covenants,
00:04:26 >> which were lies, but anyways, well, not
00:04:30 to get into those, but yes,
00:04:32 >> but anyway, we’re sidetracking
00:04:34 seriously.
00:04:37 >> Yes. Um, so the LDS church does change
00:04:40 their policies and doctrines because of
00:04:43 the pressure of the world. It has even
00:04:45 happened uh recently um and it continues
00:04:48 to happen. But anyways, that’s not why
00:04:50 we’re here. We’re we’re to talk about um
00:04:54 uh 1 Corinthians 8, which is about um
00:04:58 food offered unto idols. Okay. Um so,
00:05:04 but I guess to start off with, there’s
00:05:07 probably a couple things we should um do
00:05:10 from the five books of Moses to kind of
00:05:13 help get started. Um,
00:05:16 >> so we’ll look at this in a little bit
00:05:18 because that’s uh New Testament.
00:05:22 Uh, that’s some history that Ben’s going
00:05:23 to go over in a little bit, I think,
00:05:25 actually. Well, we’ll see what happens,
00:05:26 but Ben will go over the history. Um,
00:05:30 so, but here is where uh we’re actually
00:05:36 told not to partake of food offered unto
00:05:40 idols. So, it’s Leviticus 17:7
00:05:45 and Deuteronomy 32:37
00:05:49 38. Um, so Josh, um, will you read
00:05:54 Leviticus 17:7, whatever edition you
00:05:57 prefer to read? Um, sometimes
00:05:59 >> Sure. I’ll just I’ll just read the top
00:06:01 one. That’s fine.
00:06:02 >> Okay.
00:06:03 >> Yep. And they shall no more offer their
00:06:06 sacrifices unto devils, after whom they
00:06:10 have gone a whoring.
00:06:12 This shall be a statute forever unto
00:06:15 them throughout their generations.
00:06:20 >> So Ben, um you’re a lot better at
00:06:23 history, uh than I am. Can you get into
00:06:27 some of the history history of offering
00:06:29 sacrifices unto
00:06:32 devils or or demons or goat demons, but
00:06:36 anything other than Yahweh, right?
00:06:38 >> Um yeah, technically.
00:06:42 Okay, so that that is actually a really
00:06:47 that is actually a really long history.
00:06:50 Um, you can go back into u you can go
00:06:54 back into the new translation of Genesis
00:06:56 and see that people were worshiping
00:07:00 um Satan
00:07:04 uh rather than Yo
00:07:06 um
00:07:09 choosing to worship Satan
00:07:11 um
00:07:14 rather than listening to mommy and daddy
00:07:16 and worshiping Yahweh.
00:07:19 So that that it starts from there. The
00:07:22 mystery religion was in full effect and
00:07:26 was a large part of the uh combination
00:07:29 of Cain
00:07:32 uh
00:07:33 which uh which um
00:07:37 grew to include which eventually was
00:07:39 headed up by Lamech with his uh plural
00:07:43 wives
00:07:45 who ended up who ended up rejecting him
00:07:48 after he killed a man simply because he
00:07:50 was about to betray the oath.
00:07:52 of the combination.
00:07:55 >> Well, and he told his wives about it
00:07:57 >> and he told his wives about it. So, he
00:08:00 was rejected and cast out. But the point
00:08:02 is this mystery religion was a large
00:08:06 this mystery religion almost always runs
00:08:08 handinhand with the grand secret
00:08:12 combination.
00:08:13 >> Yes. And so, uh, and so that’s
00:08:18 when Noah got on the ark,
00:08:22 you would think the and all those
00:08:24 mystery religion practitioners were on
00:08:26 the outside of the ark. Um, and uh,
00:08:31 pounding on the door until they until
00:08:33 they slowly drowned.
00:08:36 um when they were when that happened,
00:08:39 you would think that the mystery
00:08:41 religion died.
00:08:43 But Satan has a way of being able to
00:08:45 appeal to people
00:08:48 um even those who have walked with ya
00:08:52 and such was the case with Ham Ham
00:08:57 uh
00:08:57 >> right which is same how he did it with
00:09:00 Cain. He started uh working with him and
00:09:02 tempting him. It’s the same thing,
00:09:05 right?
00:09:06 >> The same thing that happens with us all.
00:09:08 >> And so, and so you have Ham Canaan. And
00:09:12 so you have with with Ham and Canaan and
00:09:18 eventually down to um
00:09:23 Oh, come on. What’s his name? The great
00:09:25 Nimrod.
00:09:26 >> Nimrod.
00:09:26 >> Nimrod. Yeah.
00:09:28 Yeah. Yeah.
00:09:29 >> Um
00:09:31 Yeah. He he who destroyed the souls of
00:09:34 millions of men. Um
00:09:38 but uh so Nimro all the way down to
00:09:41 Nimrod you and with Nimrod and Semiramis
00:09:46 uh and uh Tamuz
00:09:51 interestingly enough
00:09:53 they’re actually th there those people
00:09:56 actually existed. Nimrod, Simus and
00:09:59 Tamuz actually did exist and they and
00:10:04 around those and these people were
00:10:06 deified and became the next um iteration
00:10:10 of the mystery religion expressed in
00:10:13 paganism.
00:10:17 >> So with with this um Ben did they have
00:10:22 offerings to their false gods that they
00:10:24 ate?
00:10:25 >> Yes. Yes. Often times in in all forms of
00:10:30 the mystery religion, the offerings
00:10:32 rather than being eaten by the priests
00:10:35 were actually resold
00:10:38 after they were uh officially roasted,
00:10:41 they were resold. Uh which then were
00:10:44 eaten by the people, right?
00:10:46 >> Yep.
00:10:46 >> Um and uh that does bring up an
00:10:49 interesting thing. I I’ll say this.
00:10:53 It’s interesting how the rabbis think
00:10:55 they have to bless food before it gets
00:10:58 sold that they’re which they get money
00:11:02 or priestcraft off of that. I I could
00:11:05 see how it could be pattern off of that
00:11:07 or it could be patterned off of how um
00:11:11 they do things that are in the temple
00:11:12 and force it upon others also or it
00:11:15 could be a combination of both. Um
00:11:18 >> yeah. So, so you see some you see some
00:11:21 of that stuff both in the u broadening
00:11:25 of the application of temple purity. Uh
00:11:29 you see some of that in the uh you do
00:11:32 see some of that in the um nowadays you
00:11:36 see that kind of manifested in the
00:11:38 blessing of um matzah
00:11:42 >> before sale. Um,
00:11:46 so
00:11:47 >> also in the scriptures, I see it in Acts
00:11:49 10, but that’s another subject. But
00:11:51 >> yeah, and in the Book of Mormon, it
00:11:54 states that it was because of priest
00:11:56 crafts that Yeshua was killed.
00:11:59 >> Yes. Um, yes, it does. Uh, that’s in
00:12:04 second Nephi, I think. But anyways,
00:12:07 >> now now the thing is is that this
00:12:10 corruption came from Babylon just like
00:12:13 the corruption that corrupted uh just
00:12:16 like the corruption
00:12:18 that uh corrupted
00:12:22 the way as Yeshua taught it came from
00:12:26 Babylon through Greece.
00:12:31 >> Yeah.
00:12:32 So Babylon has been the great corruptor
00:12:36 of the way um throughout history and it
00:12:41 is also the it is also Babylon the great
00:12:45 is the mother of the mystery religion
00:12:48 >> y
00:12:50 >> and uh
00:12:52 with all of its means for raising money
00:12:55 for itself.
00:12:58 >> Yes. Yes. So well, including selling
00:13:02 offerings that were made unto their
00:13:05 false gods. And and just and just to
00:13:08 cement that connection between the
00:13:11 mystery of religion
00:13:13 and the great and the uh and the great u
00:13:18 just running the risk of sounding um
00:13:24 of sounding um
00:13:29 sensational.
00:13:30 the great cabal
00:13:33 and the uh and the uh mystery religion.
00:13:38 What is it that secret combinations are
00:13:41 put together for according to the
00:13:43 scriptures? That men may murder and give
00:13:47 gain.
00:13:48 >> Yeah. And keep it secret. Um
00:13:51 >> and what is the purpose of the mystery?
00:13:53 And what is the purpose behind
00:13:55 practically every ceremony of the
00:13:57 mystery religion?
00:13:59 Murder and gain.
00:14:01 >> Murder and gain. Yeah.
00:14:06 >> Yeah. Uh, Satan has been inspiring
00:14:10 people even before Cain. It’s just Cain
00:14:15 really embraced it. Um,
00:14:18 >> and took it to the full
00:14:20 >> He organized it.
00:14:21 >> Yeah.
00:14:22 >> He organized it.
00:14:23 >> Well, and I think it’s because he took
00:14:24 it to the full measure, too. So, he
00:14:27 became He he he fully embraced it.
00:14:30 >> Yeah. Yeah. And because he fully
00:14:32 embraced
00:14:32 >> he took it into himself. He took it into
00:14:34 himself
00:14:36 >> and he saw its potential for increasing
00:14:38 his power.
00:14:40 >> Yes.
00:14:40 >> Correct.
00:14:42 >> I I completely agree there. So, um, to
00:14:47 summarize a lot of that, um, they did do
00:14:52 offerings of their food unto their, uh,
00:14:55 false gods that they then sold that
00:14:58 other people then ate.
00:15:01 >> Correct.
00:15:02 >> Yes.
00:15:03 >> Yeah. And I, and that’s a very small
00:15:06 summary that deals with the subject at
00:15:07 hand. So,
00:15:10 >> um,
00:15:11 Andrew, can you read Deuteronomy
00:15:14 32:37-38?
00:15:16 I’ll highlight it for you and hopefully
00:15:20 it’s
00:15:20 >> Sure. Yeah.
00:15:22 >> Okay.
00:15:25 And he shall say,
00:15:28 >> Oh, one thing I should say just before,
00:15:30 sorry, Andrew, my bad. Um,
00:15:32 >> so in this chapter, he Moses is listing
00:15:36 things that they should not be doing
00:15:39 right here. Okay.
00:15:40 >> Right.
00:15:41 >> And this is an an additional thing that
00:15:43 goes along with the subject at hand.
00:15:45 Okay. Sorry about the interruption. I
00:15:47 should have said that.
00:15:47 >> No, you’re fine. You’re fine.
00:15:49 >> Go ahead.
00:15:50 >> Okay. And he shall say, “Where are their
00:15:53 gods, their rock in whom they trusted,
00:15:56 which did eat the fat of their
00:15:59 sacrifices, and drink the wine of their
00:16:02 drink offerings. Let them rise up and
00:16:05 help you
00:16:06 and be your protection.”
00:16:09 >> Okay, so there’s a couple.
00:16:11 >> Go.
00:16:12 >> Sorry. Say that again, Andrew.
00:16:14 >> I said, “Where are your gods now?”
00:16:16 >> Yeah. Yeah. That is part of what they’re
00:16:18 saying here or Moses is saying here. Um
00:16:21 he’s also bringing out how they
00:16:24 uh that these pagans
00:16:27 are offering food offerings to their
00:16:30 false gods and including wine offerings.
00:16:33 So also drink offerings.
00:16:36 >> Um and that it’s going to do you no
00:16:38 good. So you shouldn’t be doing it with
00:16:40 them. Correct.
00:16:42 >> Yeah. Right.
00:16:44 >> Yeah.
00:16:44 >> I like how that’s phrased in a question
00:16:47 like it’s did they really eat? Did they
00:16:50 really eat this eat these sacrifices?
00:16:53 Did they really drink these drink up?
00:16:58 >> Cuz if they did, then let them rise up
00:17:00 and help you and be your protection.
00:17:02 >> Oh, but they didn’t. Did they? No. No.
00:17:05 You got those offerings.
00:17:07 >> You got them. You got them resold.
00:17:11 >> Yeah. Yeah. As in I think Ben’s bringing
00:17:13 out how the priest prepared it, offered
00:17:16 it, and then sold it, and then you
00:17:20 you
00:17:21 >> Israelites who are supposed to be
00:17:23 following Yahweh bought them, ate them,
00:17:27 and drank them. And you shouldn’t be
00:17:29 doing that,
00:17:31 >> right?
00:17:32 >> That makes sense. Yeah.
00:17:34 >> Yeah. And so here here is two spots in
00:17:37 the five books of Moses which has a lot
00:17:41 of con concentrated I said it right this
00:17:45 time um uh Torah in it right?
00:17:48 >> Yes. in addition to history and there uh
00:17:53 well so uh before we go re what we’re
00:17:57 actually the main focus on let’s do a
00:18:00 little bit more because part of this is
00:18:04 not doing things pattern off of how the
00:18:08 pagans worship their false gods okay
00:18:13 >> um and not participating in it knowingly
00:18:18 okay and we’ll get in that in a a little
00:18:20 more as we read through the the verses.
00:18:22 Um, Brennan, will you read Leviticus
00:18:26 18:3 for us, please?
00:18:29 >> After the doings of the land of Egypt,
00:18:32 wherein ye dwelt, shall you not do, and
00:18:35 after the doings of the land of Canaan,
00:18:37 whether I bring you shall you not do,
00:18:39 neither shall you walk in their
00:18:40 ordinances.
00:18:43 >> So, these ordinances are are their
00:18:46 ceremonies, okay? and their ceremonies
00:18:49 and how they worship their false gods.
00:18:51 Okay.
00:18:53 >> Uh let’s see. Zach, are you willing to
00:18:56 read?
00:19:00 >> Sure.
00:19:00 >> Okay. Will you read this bottom one?
00:19:02 Deuteronomy 12:30 for us, please.
00:19:09 >> Can you expand the text?
00:19:12 >> Uh it’s at 140. Uh, give me let me pause
00:19:16 for a minute and let’s see what we can
00:19:17 do.
00:19:23 >> Okay. Will you read Deuteronomy 12:30
00:19:25 for us, please?
00:19:26 >> Yep. Take take heed to thyself that thou
00:19:31 be not snared by follow following them
00:19:35 after that they be destroyed from before
00:19:37 thee and that thou inquire not after
00:19:40 their gods saying how did these nations
00:19:44 serve their gods even sh so will I do
00:19:47 likewise
00:19:49 >> so this is basically saying the same
00:19:51 thing uh don’t do anything pattern after
00:19:54 how the cananite pagans
00:19:58 worshiped their false gods, right?
00:20:05 >> So, I’m going to pause a minute.
00:20:12 >> Okay. So, the overall principle here is
00:20:16 don’t do things after how the
00:20:20 non-believers
00:20:21 worship their false gods. And then we
00:20:24 have some specifics here of
00:20:28 uh don’t re eat the offerings that they
00:20:31 make unto their false gods.
00:20:35 >> And Deuteronomy 32:37-38
00:20:38 is the most obvious for that. I do see
00:20:42 Leviticus 17:7.
00:20:44 Um,
00:20:47 I I ran out of time, but I was going to
00:20:50 bring out the reference how you should
00:20:51 not revere the names of false uh gods,
00:20:56 but I’m Anyways, we’ll just leave it at
00:20:58 that. That also goes with it because
00:21:00 when you’re
00:21:02 actively participating in these false
00:21:05 worships,
00:21:06 um, you’re revering the god that it is,
00:21:11 um, sacrificed to. Okay.
00:21:14 >> Rather
00:21:15 >> their character, their name
00:21:16 >> rather rather the demon rather the demon
00:21:19 devil or Lucifer himself.
00:21:22 >> Yes.
00:21:22 >> That that that God is a representation
00:21:24 of
00:21:25 >> or or a particular aspect of Satan too,
00:21:28 right?
00:21:29 >> Could be. Yeah.
00:21:32 >> Because ultimately there you’re either
00:21:36 worshiping Yahw or Satan.
00:21:38 >> Yes.
00:21:39 >> Yeah. There’s only there are but two
00:21:41 churches, right? Yeah. Anyway, Yes.
00:21:44 Okay. So, with that, uh, let’s go look
00:21:47 at, um, the controversial passage or
00:21:50 chapter. Um, I’m going to maybe make it
00:21:54 more the normal size. Um, so, um, and
00:21:59 then we can look at some other passages
00:22:00 in the New Testament after that, okay?
00:22:02 That help support that. And some history
00:22:05 that I would like to get into,
00:22:08 um, because he’s a lot better at history
00:22:10 than I am. So,
00:22:13 so the passage that’s the most
00:22:16 controversial is 1 Corinthians 8 and
00:22:20 specifically 4 through13
00:22:23 1 through3 doesn’t really say much.
00:22:25 Okay. Um so I’m just going to ignore it.
00:22:30 But uh one thing to keep in mind here as
00:22:33 we go through these uh verses here,
00:22:37 there is an overall principle that we
00:22:39 need to remember that is taught in the
00:22:41 New Testament.
00:22:43 Uh I believe it’s going to be in the Old
00:22:45 Testament also. I just I’ll be honest, I
00:22:48 don’t know where. Okay. I I don’t know
00:22:51 everything. Um, considering it’s the
00:22:53 same law and gospel throughout all time
00:22:59 and eternity,
00:23:01 uh, it’s going to be there.
00:23:03 >> Yeah. So, the thing is is whether it is
00:23:06 specifically written in
00:23:09 in the New Testament or the Old, it is
00:23:13 still Torah. It is still the revi
00:23:16 revealed mind and will of Elohim.
00:23:20 it is still his instructions
00:23:22 >> for us and
00:23:24 >> and there’s a lot of books uh from
00:23:27 during the period of the Old Testament
00:23:29 that we don’t have. Um I have a post on
00:23:33 that that even lists the books that it
00:23:35 mentions in the Old Testament that we
00:23:37 don’t have and also gets into the
00:23:40 council that decided what books were
00:23:43 included or not. Um
00:23:47 it’s
00:23:50 the canon uh has been decided by men for
00:23:53 whatever reason. Uh and I will admit
00:23:56 there are two books that I exclude from
00:24:00 the 66 books that are typical today and
00:24:04 that is the songs of Solomon
00:24:08 um which is disgusting
00:24:11 um I want to apologize for that and also
00:24:15 um Esther
00:24:19 Yeah.
00:24:20 >> Uh that uh that is not of Yahweh. Um
00:24:24 especially when you really get into the
00:24:26 details of what she did
00:24:28 >> and what she has.
00:24:29 >> Quite devious. Yes. It was quite
00:24:31 devious. Yes. Yes.
00:24:33 >> Yeah. And when you and when you get into
00:24:35 the And when you get into the details it
00:24:37 reveals of how they are worshiping,
00:24:40 there is so much of the um
00:24:44 >> Oh yeah, the
00:24:45 >> Babylonian. There’s so much Babylonian
00:24:48 in there.
00:24:49 >> Oh yeah, the cakes of heaven for one. Um
00:24:53 >> anyways, we’ll just leave it at that.
00:24:54 That’s a whole another subject. Um so I
00:24:58 I I mean do what you want, but those two
00:25:02 books are not of Yahw. Okay. Um, and
00:25:05 now, uh, Songs of Solomon, uh, Joseph
00:25:08 Smith did specifically state that, and I
00:25:10 agree with him. He never did, he never
00:25:13 touched the book of Esther. I do believe
00:25:16 he would have said the same thing if he
00:25:18 had. I understand that’s my opinion, but
00:25:21 I have researched it and I’ve read it.
00:25:23 It’s not what it claims to be. Okay. Um
00:25:27 and and the more you know,
00:25:30 the more you know and the more you see
00:25:33 when you read and that book is not of
00:25:36 Yahw. So or both of those books are not
00:25:39 of y. So uh with that though um let
00:25:44 let’s get into Corinthians 1 Corinthians
00:25:47 8. Uh but before we read that I do want
00:25:50 to quote this first Thessalonians
00:25:54 5:22.
00:25:56 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
00:25:59 Okay. Now um
00:26:03 it is can be confusing of Paul not
00:26:06 knowing what the question is and what
00:26:10 additional information that they said
00:26:12 with their question. Okay. Mhm.
00:26:16 >> But I considering how we just read Torah
00:26:22 and how that we are not to eat meat uh
00:26:26 worship or sacrificed unto idols. Um
00:26:32 and how we are to abstain from all
00:26:36 appearance of evil. So even
00:26:39 even if we’re being righteous, if it
00:26:42 looks like our righteousness could be
00:26:44 evil, we should not do that. Okay?
00:26:51 It that’s one of those things that is
00:26:54 classified as a mistake.
00:26:57 It’s just something to stop. It’s not
00:26:59 something that you necessarily have to
00:27:02 >> Yeah. It’s been right. It’s not a m sin.
00:27:05 It is a mistake and it’s something you
00:27:07 learn with some wisdom and and this
00:27:10 letter gets into this. This chapter
00:27:13 letter gets into this actually. Um but
00:27:17 it’s not a sin. It’s a mistake. Okay.
00:27:21 And um as we read through this, I you
00:27:25 will see that there’s a couple verses
00:27:27 that I have
00:27:29 re-ransated a few things. Um, some don’t
00:27:32 mean much, some mean more. Okay.
00:27:36 >> Um, one being mistake, which I think is
00:27:39 in verse 12 or 13, one, one of those,
00:27:42 one of the bottom ones. Um, so, but
00:27:45 we’ll get into it. Um, we’re not going
00:27:47 to go look at all the inlineers and the
00:27:51 uh, Greek words. I’ll have the links in
00:27:54 the notes so that we can get into it if
00:27:56 you want. um because this is it’s going
00:28:00 to be a bit anyways but I I’ll have it
00:28:02 the resources in the notes so that way
00:28:04 you can do that on your own. Okay. Um so
00:28:08 we will start with uh verse 4 which
00:28:11 actually is uh has a JST in it or Joseph
00:28:15 Smith translation or better stated as
00:28:18 Yahweh a new translation as stated by
00:28:22 Yahweh in the DNC. Okay. Um Brennan,
00:28:27 will you read verse four? Um so the
00:28:31 crossouts are the removals just in case
00:28:34 it’s not obvious. A
00:28:36 >> as concerning therefore the eating of
00:28:38 those things which are in the world
00:28:40 offered and sacrificed unto idols, we
00:28:42 know that an idol is nothing and there
00:28:44 is none other Elohim but one.
00:28:47 Okay. So, this partly gets into how the
00:28:53 food itself is actually
00:28:56 if it’s actually designated as food,
00:29:02 it still
00:29:04 can be food. Okay? And we’ll get into
00:29:07 some of those details as we get further
00:29:09 into the letter. Um and and basically if
00:29:16 you don’t know it was sacrificed on an
00:29:18 idol, it’s still food.
00:29:21 It it they didn’t poison it. It’s and
00:29:24 it’s and their so-called witchcraft is
00:29:28 not real. So it didn’t really change
00:29:30 anything in the food.
00:29:31 >> Yeah. The makeup of the food itself is
00:29:34 not changed. But what is
00:29:38 uh what what is there is
00:29:42 um
00:29:43 the the sin lies in
00:29:48 >> in the support
00:29:50 >> in the support in the support and full
00:29:52 participation in uh in the ceremonies
00:29:56 surrounding
00:29:58 uh pagan worship.
00:30:00 >> I I would add the knowing in this case
00:30:02 but yes.
00:30:03 >> Yeah. Yeah.
00:30:05 >> Knowing where it came from, you mean?
00:30:07 >> Yeah. Yes. Knowing if you knew it came
00:30:12 from uh an offering on an idol, you
00:30:15 should not eat it. And and it gets more
00:30:17 obvious as we read through this and even
00:30:19 other statements in other places from
00:30:21 Paul.
00:30:21 >> Well, there’s some interesting words in
00:30:23 this verse. However, we know that an
00:30:26 idol is nothing
00:30:28 and that there and that there is none
00:30:31 other Elohim but one.
00:30:34 So, he’s basically stating that these
00:30:37 idols, these gods that these people
00:30:41 worship are nothing.
00:30:43 >> Yeah. Abraham said the same thing in
00:30:46 Genesis, right?
00:30:48 >> Exactly.
00:30:50 So it So in saying this, he’s not
00:30:53 actually speaking. He’s not actually
00:30:55 coming out of pocket.
00:30:58 >> No, he’s just actually just stating a
00:31:00 fact here.
00:31:01 >> Yeah.
00:31:02 >> He’s reminding them actually to help
00:31:05 build um building blocks or connecting
00:31:09 the dots of why he’s saying what he’s
00:31:12 saying here. Right.
00:31:14 >> Right. Right. Right.
00:31:16 Josh, will you read five and six since I
00:31:20 have them together? Just
00:31:21 >> Sure.
00:31:24 >> For there for though there be that are
00:31:28 called
00:31:30 Elohim or judges, whether in heaven or
00:31:33 in earth, there be God’s Elohim or
00:31:37 judges many and Lord’s many. But to us
00:31:42 there is but one Elohim, the Father, of
00:31:46 whom are all things or Torah, and we in
00:31:51 him, Yahweh, and one Yahweh, Yeshua
00:31:55 Hamashiach. Oh, that’s beautiful. By
00:31:58 whom are all things and we by him.
00:32:03 So, is this like saying that there’s
00:32:06 only one uh ultimate Elohim, right? Or
00:32:11 >> or one God um for the uh Greek
00:32:15 translation that I
00:32:17 >> You mean there you mean there’s not
00:32:18 three? There’s not three.
00:32:20 >> Uh no, I’m a modalist. Um so there’s two
00:32:24 modes, father and the son. And then then
00:32:28 uh the third part which is uh from
00:32:31 lectures on faith five is not a
00:32:33 personages because there’s only two
00:32:35 personages according to Joseph Smith
00:32:38 >> is Torah. Okay to mind and will
00:32:42 >> Ben it depends on how bad your bell got
00:32:44 rung.
00:32:46 >> There you go. That’s
00:32:47 >> how many you see.
00:32:51 >> Uh yes. Yeah. I guess it does Andrew.
00:32:54 That’s a funny way of putting it. Uh
00:32:57 yes. Um so but there’s ultimately one
00:33:00 Elohim which goes along the first
00:33:02 division of Torah, right?
00:33:05 >> How uh we should only the person we
00:33:08 should worry the most about what thinks
00:33:11 about us is Elohim. It’s not saying we
00:33:13 shouldn’t think about what others think.
00:33:15 It’s saying the one that we should worry
00:33:17 about the most. Okay.
00:33:19 >> Right. Right. because he does because he
00:33:21 does acknowledge the presence of Elohim
00:33:25 of many Elohim
00:33:29 um
00:33:30 and uh or judges
00:33:33 and many lords.
00:33:36 >> But there even in verse four and I would
00:33:39 add that um your spouse should be number
00:33:44 two.
00:33:45 >> Mhm. So, you should worry about what she
00:33:48 thinks, what about you’re doing um or or
00:33:52 husband depending on what sex.
00:33:55 >> Well, yeah, depending on the sex, right?
00:33:57 Yeah. But yeah,
00:33:58 >> or sorry, gender.
00:34:00 >> Whatever. Okay.
00:34:03 However the woke defines it, don’t
00:34:05 follow that. But anyways, um you should
00:34:09 worry about what your spouse thinks
00:34:11 because you should be serving them and
00:34:14 also taking consideration of what their
00:34:16 feelings are, but they are still not
00:34:20 above Yahweh. They’re just the next one
00:34:23 after that. Okay.
00:34:26 >> Um so if they want you to break Torah
00:34:28 and what he wants, uh don’t follow that.
00:34:33 if follow what they want within the
00:34:36 bounds that Yahweh has set. Torah. Okay.
00:34:39 >> So and so for us there is but one so for
00:34:44 us who are in the church of the
00:34:45 firstborn there is but one Elohim of
00:34:48 most importance.
00:34:50 >> Yes. Yeah. And I think also this gets
00:34:54 also along with the shama, right?
00:34:59 and modalism because it’s not two, it’s
00:35:02 one.
00:35:03 >> One
00:35:04 >> Elohim.
00:35:05 >> Yes.
00:35:07 >> Which brings out how Yahweh is Elohim.
00:35:11 >> Yep.
00:35:11 >> Uh it’s not Yahweh and Elohim. It’s
00:35:14 Yahweh is Elohim.
00:35:16 >> Yep.
00:35:17 even the very
00:35:24 >> So that is the point
00:35:27 that is a that is a word meaning um
00:35:31 corporate oneness.
00:35:33 >> Yeah.
00:35:34 >> You have the two personages and the mind
00:35:36 and will as a corporate oneness.
00:35:40 >> Yes. Um so I’m going to read uh verse
00:35:43 seven mainly because it has the most Um,
00:35:48 three- translations that I have done.
00:35:51 >> Um, so I I just it’ll just be easier if
00:35:54 I do it. Okay.
00:35:56 >> So, I I did start with the King James.
00:35:58 Okay. And and then I went to the
00:36:00 interlinear, which I have the links here
00:36:03 that will be in the notes.
00:36:05 >> Um, and looked at the words which you uh
00:36:08 I’ll have links in the notes that are
00:36:10 right here. Um but
00:36:14 how be it there is not in every man that
00:36:18 understanding
00:36:21 uh which was just in verse five. Okay.
00:36:23 >> Right. Right. Right.
00:36:26 >> For some
00:36:29 by custom. So this is getting into how
00:36:32 Yahweh Elohim should be our main judge
00:36:35 which thus implies that we should be
00:36:38 following his law. Right. Mhm.
00:36:42 >> A a a judge judges us by his law
00:36:46 >> or what he wants.
00:36:48 >> So within his law is that the fact that
00:36:51 we should not eat uh food offered unto
00:36:56 uh idols as we talked about earlier,
00:36:59 right?
00:37:00 >> For
00:37:01 >> and there was a couple verses. One uh
00:37:03 some of them were specific and some of
00:37:06 them were general on the overall
00:37:08 principle. Correct.
00:37:10 Mhm.
00:37:11 >> Okay. So, but for some by customs, yes,
00:37:16 I know that’s not what’s in the King
00:37:18 James or other translations, but if you
00:37:20 go look at the Greek 49:14,
00:37:23 that is actually one of the definitions
00:37:26 there. Okay? And until now, and and it’s
00:37:30 to now because their of their
00:37:33 conversion, they they joined Yahweh. And
00:37:37 we’ll talk about Acts 15 in a little bit
00:37:39 which are some of the minimum
00:37:40 requirements to
00:37:42 >> uh be baptized into the faith. Okay.
00:37:46 >> Um but uh until now because of their
00:37:49 conversion meaning because of their
00:37:51 conversion they stopped following those
00:37:53 customs. Okay.
00:37:54 >> Right. Okay. Mhm.
00:37:56 >> And here’s these custom those of idol
00:37:59 worship.
00:38:01 Now, in King James, they just have idol
00:38:04 and of the but of those makes a lot more
00:38:08 sense in at least in modern English,
00:38:11 >> right?
00:38:12 >> Um I’m no expert of 1611 English, so
00:38:15 don’t ask me. Um I I have a hard
00:38:20 >> Yeah, I have a hard enough time with
00:38:22 modern English, so I’m going to stick
00:38:23 with that. But
00:38:25 >> Stephen, are you an expert in 1620
00:38:27 English?
00:38:28 Uh,
00:38:30 no, but that’s later than 1611. So,
00:38:36 >> I was off by by nine years. My bad.
00:38:38 >> Yeah. Yeah. Oh, are you off by Satan? Is
00:38:41 Satan what makes you off?
00:38:45 >> Um, couldn’t tell you.
00:38:48 >> Anyways, so
00:38:50 >> he’s speaking of the symbology of the
00:38:51 number.
00:38:55 >> Okay. playing
00:38:57 >> uh Greek 3588 one of the definition is
00:39:01 those I added a filler word of. Okay,
00:39:04 just to follow with the flow with
00:39:06 English um uh because of the conversion
00:39:11 those of idol worship
00:39:14 eat it. So I moved unto this hour into
00:39:18 the same order that it was actually in
00:39:20 Greek. Um,
00:39:22 >> King James moved it around for I I don’t
00:39:25 know why. Um, anyways,
00:39:27 >> that’s weird. Yeah,
00:39:28 >> it could have been a mistake or on
00:39:30 purpose because there’s a combination of
00:39:32 both and that I I’m not going to worry
00:39:34 about it because I don’t know the
00:39:35 people. um idol worshiped eat it the
00:39:40 food because it was and then that goes
00:39:43 along with the Greek word 56:13
00:39:47 thing offered onto an idol and that’s
00:39:50 bringing out they ate it because it was
00:39:52 offered onto an idol
00:39:54 >> as in they’re doing it for false worship
00:39:57 practices
00:39:58 >> right
00:39:58 >> well yeah it was a great
00:40:01 >> they knowingly ate it because it was
00:40:04 offered to an idol
00:40:06 It was great. It was a great honor and
00:40:10 blessing to be able to eat the food from
00:40:14 the god’s table.
00:40:18 >> Uh oh. Yes. Yes. I I
00:40:20 >> that was the custom. Yes.
00:40:22 >> Yes. Yes. And it was an honor. And I do
00:40:24 remember that from various things I’ve
00:40:27 learned growing up. It was an honor to
00:40:30 eat the food offered unto them. Mhm.
00:40:32 >> Uh but that was their custom until they
00:40:34 converted. Okay.
00:40:35 >> Yes.
00:40:36 >> And now these converts
00:40:40 uh or weak believers conscience and
00:40:43 conscience has to be with discerning.
00:40:47 Uh but I did decide to make it more
00:40:49 explicit here than just discerning. Uh
00:40:52 knowing good and evil. Okay?
00:40:55 because weak or lacking and and if you
00:40:59 go to the definition of weak, lacking is
00:41:02 one of them, okay? Is defiled or become
00:41:07 >> or sinned. I should add that, right?
00:41:10 Just because I’m thinking of it right
00:41:12 now.
00:41:13 >> Um, so this is getting into how um
00:41:20 >> Yahweh gives this knowledge to all
00:41:22 adults. Okay.
00:41:24 >> Yep. Now it is given to all adults in an
00:41:27 unrefined manner. Meaning you need to
00:41:31 have the priests of Yahweh
00:41:35 uh help you better understand what he is
00:41:39 giving you by helping you think about it
00:41:42 or chew about it. Okay.
00:41:44 >> Right.
00:41:45 >> Um yeah. The person who says that um the
00:41:50 person who deludes themselves into
00:41:52 thinking that they
00:41:56 without
00:41:59 any without any um education
00:42:04 can properly understand
00:42:08 the mind the mind and will of ya is
00:42:11 revealed to them. You need a teacher.
00:42:13 You’ve got to have a teacher.
00:42:16 before you can truly begin to
00:42:17 understand.
00:42:19 >> Yes.
00:42:21 Now, uh like with Adam, the teacher was
00:42:24 actually Yahweh Elohim, who is Yeshua
00:42:27 himself.
00:42:29 Now, uh not many people get that
00:42:32 privilege. Okay? and and uh but for each
00:42:36 but for Adam’s children that teacher was
00:42:40 a for Adam’s children and many of the
00:42:42 successive generation that teacher was
00:42:44 Adam who himself had spoken with y
00:42:48 >> initially I will add initially okay and
00:42:52 now the reason I will bring that out is
00:42:55 one of my favorite statements from John
00:42:57 the Baptist I must decrease
00:43:00 must increase
00:43:02 >> yes
00:43:03 in that a as we learn from our
00:43:08 authorized leaders from Yahweh
00:43:11 um and start keeping it what we’re
00:43:14 learning, we get closer to Yahweh and we
00:43:17 start learning more from Yahweh
00:43:18 directly.
00:43:20 >> Yeah. Well, we we start at the very
00:43:24 least
00:43:25 even if you were receiving from Yoha
00:43:27 directly, you have a more reliable means
00:43:31 of interpretate of interpreting what
00:43:33 you’re receiving.
00:43:34 >> That’s true. Also very good point there,
00:43:37 Ben. Um because you better understand
00:43:40 his ways
00:43:42 and uh Yahweh does not contradict
00:43:45 himself, right?
00:43:47 >> Yeah. Mhm.
00:43:48 >> Uh if he did, what would how could he um
00:43:53 >> well, he would cease to be God,
00:43:55 >> but there’s that. But then also, how
00:43:57 would it be fair for him to have
00:43:59 consequences for his contradicting word,
00:44:03 >> right? Yeah.
00:44:05 >> Yeah.
00:44:07 >> As it is with other interesting people,
00:44:11 you’re damned if you do and you’re
00:44:12 damned if you don’t,
00:44:14 >> right?
00:44:15 >> And that’s not fair. I won’t say who,
00:44:18 but anyways,
00:44:19 >> that is not a that is not a that is not
00:44:22 a just
00:44:24 >> Yes, that is not just. So, real quick,
00:44:27 I’m going to read this one more time
00:44:29 without um the commentary and just read
00:44:33 it straight with the translation. How be
00:44:36 it, there is not in every man that
00:44:40 understandeth,
00:44:41 for some by customs until now
00:44:46 uh
00:44:48 of those idol worship. Oh, I should put
00:44:52 worshippers. That would make more sense.
00:44:54 Sorry.
00:44:55 um eat it because it was a thing offered
00:45:00 unto idol
00:45:03 unto idols and their conscience being
00:45:07 weak is defiled.
00:45:10 >> Mhm.
00:45:11 >> Okay. Um now I do understand this a
00:45:14 little different than King James and
00:45:15 other translations.
00:45:17 Um, it does put the word of God in
00:45:23 alignment with the word of Elohim. I I
00:45:27 God’s a bad habit. Sorry about that. I
00:45:29 don’t like that habit. It still comes
00:45:31 out occasionally. Go ahead, Ben. So
00:45:34 basically what this does is it makes it
00:45:36 so that Paul
00:45:38 is not directly is not in conflict
00:45:43 because I wouldn’t say that even at the
00:45:45 previous that you’re getting from the uh
00:45:48 King James version that he’s in direct
00:45:50 contradiction but he is in conflict
00:45:54 with the words of Moshe, the words of
00:45:59 Yeshua even because Yeshua said,
00:46:03 “Who so relaxes or doesn’t or makes
00:46:08 smaller even the least of these
00:46:10 commandments
00:46:13 um
00:46:14 >> shall be the least
00:46:15 >> least shall be least in the kingdom of
00:46:17 heaven.”
00:46:17 >> Yeah. And so that’s from sermon on Torah
00:46:20 or what most people call sermon on the
00:46:22 mount. Right. So the so this this this
00:46:27 um this understanding
00:46:30 this this translation of this verse re
00:46:34 relieves that pressure.
00:46:38 Yes. So this one does have some
00:46:41 significant corrections in it. Right.
00:46:46 Uh some of the others are just maybe
00:46:48 more moderizing in some of the other
00:46:50 verses in addition to some corrections.
00:46:54 Um so uh Brennan, are you willing to
00:46:58 read verse 8 for us?
00:47:03 So just so people are aware, I have the
00:47:06 square brackets as notes and the
00:47:09 squiggly brackets as translations. Okay.
00:47:14 But but food offered unto idols that we
00:47:16 didn’t know about uh offered us not to
00:47:20 Elohim. Uh for neither if we eat are we
00:47:23 the better. Neither if we eat not are we
00:47:25 the worst. If we didn’t know that it was
00:47:27 offered to idols. Yeah. So uh the one
00:47:31 glyph that he left out is about how
00:47:34 offering um food onto Yahweh has to be
00:47:37 at the temple or tabernacle done by a
00:47:40 Levitical priest.
00:47:42 And um they didn’t have that in this in
00:47:47 Corinth, right?
00:47:49 >> Right.
00:47:50 >> Yeah.
00:47:51 >> Yeah. And the other thing about that is
00:47:53 this,
00:47:55 the Levitical priest was not to make
00:47:57 that offering generally available to the
00:48:00 general public.
00:48:01 >> Yeah. It had to be to a believer.
00:48:04 >> Yeah.
00:48:06 >> Right. So, uh, this letter is to
00:48:09 believers, just so we’re aware here,
00:48:12 within a city of, um, non-believers,
00:48:16 right?
00:48:17 >> Yeah. Corinth was all of all the cities
00:48:21 in Greece,
00:48:22 >> Corinth was the most known for its
00:48:26 wickedness
00:48:28 and it’s uh its adulterous
00:48:34 adulterous for and for adulterous and
00:48:37 fornic adultery and fornication
00:48:41 uh as well as it’s uh
00:48:45 the the greatest temple to Aphroditi,
00:48:49 the goddess uh the Greek goddess of sex.
00:48:55 >> Uh
00:48:57 I will just say this, the uh Aphrodite
00:49:00 is at some of the LDS temple um veils
00:49:05 and I’ll leave it at that.
00:49:06 >> Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you if you if you
00:49:09 want to romanticize it and say love,
00:49:11 that’s fine. But it’s she
00:49:14 >> it’s not it it’s
00:49:16 >> it’s all about the sex. Yes.
00:49:18 >> Yeah. It’s sex. Um outside of marriage
00:49:21 and all at that part.
00:49:22 >> Yeah. The
00:49:24 >> Well, it’s it’s it’s what it’s what
00:49:26 modern people call free love.
00:49:29 >> Yes. the mains, one of the one of the uh
00:49:34 one of the primary
00:49:37 centers of the city of Corinth
00:49:40 was actually
00:49:42 an active uh was actually a place where
00:49:46 street walkers were active.
00:49:50 >> Uh yes or I’ll just call it
00:49:53 >> they applied their wares publicly. It
00:49:55 was blessed. It was legal in the city of
00:49:58 Coral. Yeah. Um so one thing to remember
00:50:02 uh when in understanding uh the
00:50:06 Corinthians letters including other
00:50:08 letters from Paul to other cities is
00:50:11 it’s written to converts in cities that
00:50:15 hated the way of Yahweh.
00:50:19 >> Okay.
00:50:19 >> Yes. That actively fought against it.
00:50:21 Yes.
00:50:22 >> Yes. And so remember that context as
00:50:25 you’re reading through these letters of
00:50:27 Paul. in addition to remembering or or
00:50:30 if not remembering but go figuring out
00:50:32 what Torah actually states. Okay?
00:50:35 Because uh that’s very helpful in
00:50:39 understanding as Paul states in Romans
00:50:42 7:1 that he writes to those who
00:50:44 understand the law aka Torah. Okay.
00:50:49 Well,
00:50:49 >> Paul, guess what? Paul didn’t teach by
00:50:52 the New Testament.
00:50:55 It was pile jet
00:50:57 >> Paul taught by the Old Testament which
00:51:01 um even with the controversies of
00:51:03 whether if Torah is valid or not which
00:51:05 it is okay
00:51:08 um and there’s a difference between
00:51:09 Torah and law of Moses
00:51:11 uh the Old Testament definitely teaches
00:51:14 Torah is valid and that’s what Paul
00:51:17 taught from Go ahead in the in his
00:51:20 epistle to Timothy
00:51:23 when he states all script Scripture is
00:51:26 given unto man for for reproofs and
00:51:30 righteousness and etc etc.
00:51:34 He is talking about
00:51:38 the Tanakh
00:51:41 >> or Old Testament for those who don’t
00:51:43 know.
00:51:43 >> Yeah. And he is not talking about all
00:51:47 these letters that while they may have
00:51:49 been held in the views of the people as
00:51:53 being equal to the Tanakh,
00:51:56 they were not yet compiled.
00:51:59 They were not yet um
00:52:03 they were not yet in fact many of them
00:52:06 were not yet known beyond the place that
00:52:09 they were written to.
00:52:11 >> Right. They were not yet codified. Yes,
00:52:14 >> they had not been they had not been uh
00:52:17 they had not been messed with by the
00:52:19 early church fathers yet and or to be so
00:52:22 they could be made part of the cannon,
00:52:24 >> right?
00:52:24 >> Or or or misinterpreted. Um, but I I
00:52:29 would agree. Um, Paul, in fact, this
00:52:33 gets into Acts 17, how he praised the
00:52:39 Bereans because they went and tested his
00:52:41 word against the
00:52:43 Old Testament or the Hebrew Bible as
00:52:46 sometimes is referred to or Tanakh as
00:52:50 said it also, right?
00:52:52 >> Yep.
00:52:52 >> Yep.
00:52:54 as in test me against what was taught
00:52:58 before and make sure I’m in an alignment
00:53:02 with it that I’m not teaching something
00:53:05 new.
00:53:06 >> Well, the reason he loves the Bereans is
00:53:10 that they accept it
00:53:13 >> and still test it.
00:53:16 >> Yeah.
00:53:18 >> They hear they hear his teaching.
00:53:22 This is good teaching if it pans out
00:53:26 >> and test it.
00:53:28 >> Let’s go. Let’s Let’s test it out.
00:53:31 >> Yeah. Yeah. So, um it it and Paul, just
00:53:36 to make it clear, was an apostle after
00:53:39 Yeshua’s death and resurrection, which
00:53:42 is the controversial time uh period.
00:53:46 Okay.
00:53:46 >> Yeah. Um,
00:53:48 >> now I I will bring out the commendeth
00:53:52 actually does mean offered or offering
00:53:56 so on and so forth, but uh most people
00:53:59 don’t know that word. So I
00:54:01 >> Yeah. So
00:54:02 >> I I I went with a more known word
00:54:06 offered. Okay.
00:54:07 >> Yeah.
00:54:08 >> So this one’s kind of a nonchalant one
00:54:10 just more moderizing it.
00:54:12 >> Yeah.
00:54:14 >> Anyways.
00:54:15 >> Yeah. Uh, Ben, will you read verse 9 for
00:54:17 us?
00:54:20 >> What was that?
00:54:21 >> Will you read verse 9, please, Ben?
00:54:23 >> Okay. I thought I heard something. Okay.
00:54:26 >> But take heed, lest by any means this
00:54:28 liberty of yours. Uh, 1 Thessalonians
00:54:31 5:22, abstain from all appearance of
00:54:33 evil, even when you are not being evil,
00:54:37 become a stumbling block to them that
00:54:39 are weak, lacking in knowing good from
00:54:42 evil. So uh the
00:54:44 >> lacking in discernment.
00:54:46 >> Yes, discernment. Yes. Um and I do agree
00:54:50 that is a better way of saying those uh
00:54:54 four words. I just being very explicit.
00:54:58 And so, um, I I think what’s going on
00:55:02 here in verse 9 is that, yes, you can
00:55:06 actually, it’s not a sin to eat with
00:55:11 people who are eating food that are
00:55:14 offered onto idols. Okay. most important
00:55:17 thing to take from this particular verse
00:55:19 is okay let’s
00:55:22 now let’s have a caution here because
00:55:25 he’s talked about how
00:55:29 um food is still food and some of these
00:55:32 other things and how idols are nothing
00:55:35 there’s a but one
00:55:37 there’s but one
00:55:42 then um but now let’s have a hair
00:55:47 and now he’s going to explain it.
00:55:49 >> Yeah. Yeah. So, he’s like, um, you know,
00:55:53 if you don’t really know if the food was
00:55:57 offered unto idols, go ahead and eat it.
00:55:59 Okay. As we’ll get into more as we go
00:56:01 through this letter and other letters
00:56:03 that he’s written.
00:56:06 Uh it’s okay but be very careful
00:56:11 uh because you might become a stumbling
00:56:15 a block that to someone who thinks
00:56:21 that you are eating food unto idols
00:56:24 knowingly. Right.
00:56:26 >> Yeah.
00:56:27 which is actually against the
00:56:29 commandments because as we went over
00:56:31 earlier in the five books of Moses
00:56:35 >> that has a lot of conse
00:56:38 uh consecrated
00:56:40 >> concentrated
00:56:41 >> concent thank you Josh consecrated
00:56:44 >> concentrated
00:56:44 >> I still said it wrong sorry
00:56:47 >> it’s all good
00:56:48 >> anyway
00:56:49 >> concentrated yeah
00:56:50 >> yes that word uh of Torah inside of it
00:56:54 okay um
00:56:58 you need to be careful
00:57:00 with the appearance that you’re putting
00:57:03 off which goes along with uh first the
00:57:08 Thessalonians 5:22
00:57:11 abstain from all appearance of evil not
00:57:15 just doing evil it mean you can do
00:57:18 righteousness but look like you’re doing
00:57:22 evil which goes along with what’s What’s
00:57:25 going on this letter here? Okay. That
00:57:28 you could be eating food
00:57:31 uh that is not offered onto idols next
00:57:33 to people that who are eating food
00:57:36 offered onto idols. And it looks like
00:57:38 that you are eating food unto
00:57:43 idols even though you’re not. thus being
00:57:47 a stumbling block to those who are just
00:57:50 converts or weak in discerning or
00:57:55 knowing good from evil,
00:57:57 >> right?
00:57:58 >> Which could give them, which says later
00:58:01 in the letter, uh encouragement to
00:58:04 actually break Torah because they don’t
00:58:06 understand what you’re actually doing.
00:58:09 >> Right. Right. Right. Right.
00:58:11 >> Right.
00:58:12 >> Okay. All right. Uh, so Josh, will you
00:58:16 read 10 for us?
00:58:18 >> Sure.
00:58:21 >> For if any man see thee which hast
00:58:24 understanding,
00:58:26 sit at meat in the idol’s temple,
00:58:33 it will appear you were eating meat
00:58:35 sacrificed to idols, which is what we
00:58:37 were just talking about. Shall not the
00:58:40 conscience or the knowing of good and
00:58:42 evil of him which is weak
00:58:45 uh lacking be emboldened or encouraged
00:58:48 to eat those things which are offered to
00:58:50 idols. So this is
00:58:51 >> this is going over exactly what we just
00:58:53 talked about. Yeah. So I didn’t know it
00:58:56 was the next verse far. Sorry guys. I
00:58:59 mean I I I will admit I did some
00:59:01 preparing today because I we talked
00:59:03 about how we’re going to go over this
00:59:04 today but I don’t have everything
00:59:06 memorized. So basically this is saying
00:59:10 and I’ll just say it again. Don’t do
00:59:12 something that looks like a sin
00:59:15 >> because those who are just converts or
00:59:18 weak in the faith will think that you’re
00:59:21 doing something
00:59:24 um that you shouldn’t be doing and that
00:59:26 they think it’s okay to do because
00:59:29 they’re looking up to you.
00:59:31 >> They’re following your example.
00:59:33 >> Yeah. They’re following your example. um
00:59:36 or what they think your example is.
00:59:38 >> Correct. What they perceive your example
00:59:41 to be. Right.
00:59:42 >> I love that. I love that turn of phrase
00:59:45 there. If any man see thee
00:59:49 that and the person which hast
00:59:51 understanding is the is you
00:59:55 see thee which hast understanding
00:59:58 sit at meet at the idol’s temple.
01:00:01 >> Yeah. Don’t don’t make it look like
01:00:04 you’re doing something that’s evil.
01:00:07 Which goes along
01:00:09 >> with first Thessalonians 5
01:00:13 from all appearance
01:00:16 of evil.
01:00:18 >> Now I I will say and this gets into a
01:00:20 translation I have later. It’s not a
01:00:22 sin. It’s a mistake. Okay.
01:00:26 >> Yeah. It’s it’s something that you uh
01:00:29 recognize that you’ve done. drums on the
01:00:32 roof.
01:00:33 >> It’s something that you recognize that
01:00:35 you’ve done and then you stop.
01:00:38 >> Yeah, it’s a mistake which means it was
01:00:41 not the best but not a sin. There is a
01:00:43 difference between mistakes and sins.
01:00:45 Okay.
01:00:47 >> Uh this is where you you start learning
01:00:49 wisdom.
01:00:52 >> Not being wise is not a sin. It’s just
01:00:56 not
01:00:57 >> Well, it’s just something Well, it’s
01:00:59 something that can be corrected. Yeah.
01:01:01 Yeah. It’s a mistake, right?
01:01:04 >> Right.
01:01:04 >> So, can I read?
01:01:05 >> You get wisdom by making mistakes.
01:01:09 >> Yes. Yeah. Uh, go ahead.
01:01:10 >> So, can I read 10 and 11 together?
01:01:12 Because they’re actually the same idea.
01:01:15 >> Go ahead. Go ahead.
01:01:17 For if any man see thee which hast
01:01:20 understanding sit at meat in the idol’s
01:01:22 temple,
01:01:25 shall not the conscience of him which is
01:01:28 weak
01:01:30 or lacking in uh lacking in discernment
01:01:34 be emboldened to eat those things which
01:01:36 are offered to idols. and through thy
01:01:38 understanding
01:01:41 uh shall the weak and evil perish
01:01:45 because he thinks you are eating food
01:01:47 offered to idols for whom Christ died.
01:01:50 So you in other words you can cause them
01:01:55 to sin by appearing
01:01:59 to
01:01:59 >> to sin
01:02:00 >> by appearing to sin. Um, and this will
01:02:04 cause the new man in Christ to die.
01:02:10 >> Correct.
01:02:11 >> The new man in Christ
01:02:12 >> as in to sin. Because in fact, I should
01:02:15 add the note.
01:02:16 >> Well, sin is death. So,
01:02:18 >> yeah. Yeah. The consequence of sin is
01:02:20 death, right?
01:02:23 >> Which is why Yeshua had to die for us.
01:02:25 >> And this is why and this is why Paul is
01:02:27 giving this caution. And he’s like,
01:02:28 “Hey, look, you guys, you the people,”
01:02:32 because you got to keep in mind that the
01:02:33 letters that Paul wrote were to the
01:02:35 teachers of the people in these cities
01:02:38 that were full of unbelievers that were
01:02:40 fighting tooth and nail against
01:02:44 Yahweh’s Torah,
01:02:46 >> right? And he’s telling these teachers,
01:02:48 you
01:02:50 have to be very careful how you present
01:02:54 yourselves in public.
01:02:57 >> Yeah.
01:02:58 You can’t just la
01:03:01 and do whatever you want knowing what
01:03:04 you know.
01:03:05 >> In fact, even even if it’s uh not a sin,
01:03:09 you need to be careful,
01:03:11 >> right? Because
01:03:12 >> I want to add that because even if it’s
01:03:13 not a sin
01:03:14 >> because
01:03:16 be diligent and careful because of your
01:03:18 example that may be misinterpreted.
01:03:21 Right. So, so now what you want to put
01:03:25 this in contrast to what um to what the
01:03:30 Jews who to what the um
01:03:33 Pharisees to what the Pharisee teachers
01:03:37 of the Jews who lived in these cities
01:03:39 would do. How they would ostentatiously
01:03:43 even avoid the marketplaces
01:03:46 where the meats were sold. Uh uh
01:03:50 >> the meats that were offered to idols
01:03:51 were sold.
01:03:52 >> The meats that might have been offered
01:03:54 to idols,
01:03:56 >> okay,
01:03:56 >> were sold. And uh you know, it’s they
01:04:00 were just like um then they were very
01:04:04 self-righteous about um the avoidance of
01:04:07 anything coinos
01:04:09 or common.
01:04:12 uh is uh so I this
01:04:19 there this common goes into the part
01:04:21 where um common food can be eaten
01:04:25 because it’s actually actually is food.
01:04:29 >> The this gets into the issue where
01:04:33 >> they were selfrighteous and went to the
01:04:35 fact that they would only eat food that
01:04:38 was temple worthy.
01:04:40 >> Yeah. That was which is going beyond the
01:04:42 mark. But
01:04:44 >> well beyond the mark, but the Pharisees
01:04:45 were famous for that. But anyway, so so
01:04:48 what Paul is saying is that if you don’t
01:04:51 know that the meat is sacrificed to
01:04:53 idols, you don’t have to go to
01:04:55 ridiculous extremes to make sure that
01:04:57 you’re not eating food sacrificed to
01:04:59 idols. But if you do know that the food
01:05:01 is sacrificed to idols, don’t eat it.
01:05:04 >> Yes. A very good summary of these
01:05:06 verses, Ben. Um, so and hopefully as
01:05:11 we’re going through these verses with
01:05:13 the commentary I’ve added, the glyphs
01:05:16 and the re-ransations that I’ve done, it
01:05:19 makes that obvious, right?
01:05:22 >> Yeah.
01:05:23 >> Um, so, uh, Zach, are you re willing to
01:05:27 read verse 12 for us?
01:05:36 But when he uh error or mistake
01:05:41 soul against the brethren that wounded
01:05:43 their weak or lacking conscious
01:05:48 >> desirement.
01:05:50 >> Yeah.
01:05:53 The air
01:05:57 >> against Msiah.
01:05:59 >> Yeah. Against Messiah.
01:06:02 Um,
01:06:04 so yeah. So it’s uh
01:06:08 >> well it’s just carrying on.
01:06:10 >> Just something really interesting here.
01:06:11 When you air against the brethren Oh,
01:06:13 wait a minute. Wait a minute. Aren’t the
01:06:15 brethren like the heads of the church?
01:06:18 >> But no, it’s the whole church.
01:06:21 >> Exactly. That’s the That’s the point. In
01:06:24 the in the in the LDS church, they often
01:06:28 refer to their leadership as the
01:06:30 brethren. So, who are the rest of us?
01:06:35 >> Well, according to them, we’re
01:06:36 >> we are the Ren. We are the Ren without
01:06:38 the breath.
01:06:39 >> Yeah, we’re shadow according to them.
01:06:41 But that’s not scriptural. We are
01:06:44 >> so church.
01:06:46 >> Yeah. Scriptural Scripturally, the
01:06:48 entire church is the brethren. Yeah,
01:06:50 it’s uh so you can have members of the
01:06:54 brethren who have
01:06:56 literally you can have members of the
01:06:58 brethren who have very little
01:07:00 discernment. Um
01:07:02 >> and when we and when we lead such to
01:07:05 heir by our apparent uh wicked and by
01:07:09 apparent wickedness
01:07:11 then we have aired ourselves against
01:07:14 Messiah. We have sinned. Not sinned.
01:07:17 We’ve made a mistake uh in the eyes of
01:07:20 Yeshua.
01:07:21 >> Yeah. And it’s a mistake because it’s
01:07:24 actually
01:07:25 you can eat among other sinners. Okay.
01:07:28 That Yeshua did it. Okay.
01:07:31 >> Yeah.
01:07:31 >> The problem is the this gets into some
01:07:35 wisdom literature or or rules of thumb.
01:07:40 Okay.
01:07:41 um that it’s not wise to appear that
01:07:47 you’re doing evil even though you’re
01:07:49 being righteous. Okay.
01:07:51 >> Right.
01:07:52 >> Right.
01:07:53 >> And that’s what this is getting at here.
01:07:55 >> Yeah.
01:07:57 Yeah. Um Yeah.
01:08:00 And if you go look at Greek uh 0264,
01:08:06 one of the uh translation is error or m
01:08:11 and error goes into making a mistake.
01:08:13 Okay. It’s not a
01:08:14 >> Yeah. Yeah. Most of us lack the
01:08:16 understanding that Yeshua had that
01:08:19 allowed him to be able to
01:08:22 uh that allowed him to be able to do a
01:08:25 lot of the associations that he did. Um
01:08:32 >> that’s not an excuse for not getting
01:08:34 that understanding, but you need to
01:08:36 understand that you lack it at this
01:08:38 time. Perhaps
01:08:42 you need to get
01:08:42 >> perhaps. Yeah. Mhm. Yeah,
01:08:46 >> correct.
01:08:47 >> Yeah.
01:08:48 >> Um, so Brennan, will you read verse 13
01:08:52 for us?
01:08:54 >> Wherefore, if if meat make my brother in
01:08:57 Yeshua to stumble or sin, I will eat no
01:09:02 flesh except when commanded, such as at
01:09:04 Passover, while the world standeth, lest
01:09:07 I make my brethren Yeshua to stumble or
01:09:10 sin.
01:09:11 So Paul’s making a point here. He does
01:09:15 not want to appear to doing evil because
01:09:19 he doesn’t want to cause his
01:09:23 converts or any convert into the church
01:09:26 to sin. Okay.
01:09:27 >> Right.
01:09:28 >> Yeah. So, so he goes, so, so he uh
01:09:33 speaks very strongly to make a point
01:09:38 um that, you know, I I would rather not
01:09:43 eat meat except as commanded than cause
01:09:47 I would rather not eat meat, you know.
01:09:50 And of course, the accept as commanded,
01:09:53 >> right? Because he’s not gonna he does
01:09:55 not forget Torah.
01:09:57 >> Yeah. He’s writing to the teachers that
01:10:01 know that is commanded to eat lamb at
01:10:03 Passover. Right.
01:10:05 >> Right.
01:10:06 >> I would rather forego meat except as
01:10:09 commanded
01:10:11 than cause a
01:10:14 >> have that be the cause of somebody else
01:10:17 um
01:10:18 >> committing a sin. Right. Yes.
01:10:20 >> Then have then have my eating of meat
01:10:23 become a stumbling block for my brother.
01:10:26 And and this is back this comes back to
01:10:29 that thing that uh we’ve been talking
01:10:31 about a bit lately in re these
01:10:33 recordings and that is am I my brother’s
01:10:35 keeper?
01:10:38 >> The answer is yes.
01:10:39 >> The answer is yes. Everything in this
01:10:42 points to that idea. Yes. You are your
01:10:46 brother’s keeper.
01:10:48 you are
01:10:51 the things that you do have far-reaching
01:10:53 consequences that you may not even be
01:10:55 thinking about right now.
01:10:57 >> Right? None of us operates in a vacuum.
01:11:00 >> Right? And and I’ll just say this, being
01:11:02 your brother’s keeper goes along with
01:11:04 the purpose of life. Come under Yeshua,
01:11:07 keep his Torah, and help the others to
01:11:09 do the same. That’s being your brother’s
01:11:12 keeper.
01:11:13 >> Boom.
01:11:16 So when Cain asks that question of y of
01:11:19 uh of ya
01:11:21 >> he is it is a public denial
01:11:26 of the authority of y
01:11:28 >> oh and his teachings
01:11:30 >> and his teachings
01:11:31 >> that he actually knew.
01:11:34 >> Mhm.
01:11:34 >> Oh he yeah he knew.
01:11:38 So
01:11:38 >> that’s why he got so upset when his
01:11:41 offering was rejected because he knew
01:11:43 why his offering was rejected.
01:11:46 >> So my the wrong offering
01:11:50 >> among that his heart was not in it in
01:11:52 addition.
01:11:53 >> Exactly. Exactly. So,
01:11:58 for a practical thing on this,
01:12:02 you don’t have to uh when you go to the
01:12:05 supermarket,
01:12:06 you don’t need to be looking at
01:12:08 everything. Oh, was this sacrificed to
01:12:09 an idol or what have you before you buy
01:12:12 it,
01:12:15 right? If you don’t know, in fact, we’ll
01:12:17 get into some of these others in a
01:12:19 little bit. Don’t ask. Don’t make a big
01:12:22 deal out of it because the the food
01:12:26 there’s nothing wrong with it. What’s
01:12:29 wrong is if you’re actively knowing
01:12:31 participating in the false worship,
01:12:35 >> right?
01:12:36 >> Yeah.
01:12:38 >> Okay.
01:12:39 >> Don’t do that.
01:12:40 >> Yeah. Bad bad bad plan.
01:12:44 >> Yeah. Yeah. So, um if you’re done with
01:12:47 that, Ben, let’s go look at Acts 15.
01:12:50 >> Yeah. Yeah.
01:12:51 >> So, Acts 15 teaches the same thing.
01:12:54 Okay. Um, so the most obvious one is
01:12:58 Acts 15:29.
01:13:01 Andrew, can you read that for us?
01:13:04 >> Yes. Um, that ye abstain from meats
01:13:08 offered to idols and from blood, which
01:13:11 is also
01:13:13 part of Torah,
01:13:15 >> which is from the blood is kosher law.
01:13:18 Just the beast. Uh-huh.
01:13:21 >> Being strangled.
01:13:23 >> Yeah.
01:13:23 >> And from fornication.
01:13:25 >> Sorry. It’s also uh found it’s also
01:13:29 found in Genesis. Uh
01:13:31 >> yes. Uh yes, it’s Yes. It’s in multiple
01:13:35 places.
01:13:36 >> And from and from things strangled and
01:13:39 from fornication from which ye keep
01:13:42 yourselves, you do well. Very well. So
01:13:46 there it is specifically mentions uh
01:13:49 meats offered unto idols which goes
01:13:51 back. So Acts 15 is basically a summary
01:13:56 of numbers 17 and 18
01:14:01 >> plus one more because those deal with
01:14:04 three uh items but it actually talks
01:14:06 about four things that converts need to
01:14:09 do. The fourth one has to do uh go go to
01:14:15 church basically modern language and
01:14:17 learn more of Torah,
01:14:19 >> right?
01:14:19 >> Modern language
01:14:21 >> and the first two the first two have to
01:14:23 do with kosher law.
01:14:26 >> I so
01:14:27 >> and avoiding food sacrificed to idol.
01:14:31 >> Yes. So I I
01:14:34 So let’s go look at verse 20 because
01:14:36 there’s a couple things that goes along
01:14:38 with the first one in verse 29.
01:14:43 >> Um that I I would say it’s more about uh
01:14:47 kosher stuff. It’s more about pagan
01:14:50 worship.
01:14:51 >> Yeah. Yeah.
01:14:52 >> And verse 20 makes it more obvious in my
01:14:55 opinion on that. But the way they’re
01:14:58 mentioning it, they
01:15:02 the fact that you can eat the meat if
01:15:05 you don’t know. If you don’t know, if
01:15:09 you don’t not know, it was offered to
01:15:12 idols. So to me brings out it’s not
01:15:15 about
01:15:17 >> kosher law. It’s about worshiping how
01:15:20 the pagans worship or do anything
01:15:23 pattern after how the pagans worship
01:15:25 their false gods. Right. Okay. Right.
01:15:29 >> Okay. Uh and hopefully the three times
01:15:31 makes that clear enough. I’m putting a
01:15:34 focus on that.
01:15:36 >> Take a look at verse 20 here.
01:15:38 >> Okay. You read that for us.
01:15:40 >> Not nearly a strong enough focus.
01:15:43 >> Okay. Uh
01:15:45 >> I Okay. But that but that we write unto
01:15:48 them that they abstain from pollutions
01:15:52 >> or or defilement. I I like now both are
01:15:56 fine. This is more of a personal
01:15:58 preference here of mine here and I’ll
01:16:00 explain that in a little bit.
01:16:02 >> And from fornication
01:16:05 >> and from things strangled and from
01:16:06 blood. The Greek word translated to
01:16:08 fornication is porna
01:16:11 which means sexual transgression.
01:16:14 >> Yes. Uh and in fact since Ben’s bringing
01:16:16 that up I will make a note of that just
01:16:20 I was not focused on that.
01:16:24 So basically
01:16:28 stay away from SS. It’s S S I O Ns.
01:16:33 >> Yeah, my spellings, not my
01:16:34 >> and from things strangled in from blood.
01:16:36 So basically stay away from stay away
01:16:39 from idol worship.
01:16:41 Don’t be a pervert
01:16:44 and uh
01:16:46 >> don’t be a vampire.
01:16:47 >> Keep and keep kosher law.
01:16:48 >> Okay. So um I I will clarify in the
01:16:51 pervert thing. If it’s within your
01:16:52 marriage, your spouse, it’s fine. It’s
01:16:55 outside of that. Okay?
01:16:58 >> Um Yahweh has put a desire in us for the
01:17:02 opposite sex. But at the same time, he
01:17:05 told us when it’s okay, and that’s
01:17:07 within the covenant of marriage. So if
01:17:09 you want to be a pervert within the
01:17:11 marriage, when it’s just you and you and
01:17:13 your spouse,
01:17:15 >> not some other pictures of some other
01:17:18 person, it’s fine. Okay? Yeah, I’ll
01:17:20 leave it behind closed doors.
01:17:24 >> No. Yeah. No, not not to the public.
01:17:25 Yes. Uh, good good addition there. I So,
01:17:29 if anything, I’m outing myself out. I
01:17:31 like to look at my wife, which I don’t
01:17:34 have one right now, so I don’t look at
01:17:36 one, but I am looking forward to it in
01:17:38 the future. So, I’m outing myself out.
01:17:41 Okay.
01:17:41 >> Yeah.
01:17:42 >> If nothing else,
01:17:44 >> can I just say you can’t be a pervert if
01:17:47 you’re doing things within proper
01:17:48 bounds. That’s not perversion.
01:17:51 >> Okay, valid point. So, I’m not a
01:17:53 pervert. Thank you.
01:17:55 >> That’s it. That’s it.
01:17:59 >> Good. Good clarification. Good
01:18:01 clarification, Andrew. If you are if you
01:18:03 are following the order that Yahweh has
01:18:06 ordained, you are not a pervert.
01:18:09 >> Okay, I like that clarification.
01:18:11 I I So, I I won’t fight against it. But
01:18:15 actually, if I bet if we looked at the
01:18:16 word, it would go with that cuz pervert
01:18:18 is going against the right way. And if
01:18:21 you go within covenant of marriage, it’s
01:18:23 fine. So, we’ll just leave it at that.
01:18:25 >> Yeah. So, that so it’s like I said,
01:18:29 >> stay away from idol worship. All forms
01:18:32 of idol worship, including eating the
01:18:34 food that comes from the God’s table.
01:18:37 >> Yeah. Now, I will say this part of this
01:18:40 is um I’ll just say Christmas and
01:18:44 Easter, okay? Because uh uh worshiping
01:18:48 of idols, okay? Now,
01:18:53 >> and Thanksgiving and Valentine’s is
01:18:55 coming up, Halloween. I I mean, we go on
01:18:58 and on. I’m
01:18:59 >> Yeah. So, so these are the these are the
01:19:01 big three right here. Don’t engage in
01:19:04 idol worship. Don’t be a pervert. and
01:19:09 >> kosher law.
01:19:10 >> And do keep kosher law, right?
01:19:12 >> And go and go to synagogue so you can
01:19:14 learn the rest of the law.
01:19:16 >> Yeah. And that’s later. That’s not in
01:19:17 this verse, but those those are the four
01:19:19 from Acts 15,
01:19:21 >> right? The um now there’s a few others
01:19:24 that we’re not going to talk about
01:19:25 because we’re even sidetracked more than
01:19:27 that. Now, I I do want to bring out Let
01:19:31 me Yeah. And so at the end of verse of
01:19:35 Leviticus 18, it brings out why it lists
01:19:38 those three. Okay. Uh
01:19:43 so verse 29 I’ll read. For whosoever
01:19:47 shall committh any of these
01:19:48 abominations, which is those three that
01:19:50 we went over in Acts 15 is a summary of
01:19:54 those three plus some more, including go
01:19:58 learn more on the Sabbath of Torah.
01:20:02 Whosoever commit of those three, even
01:20:05 those even the souls that commit them,
01:20:08 those three shall be cut off from among
01:20:12 the people. meaning uh either you’re
01:20:15 excommunicated or removed from the land
01:20:18 give or take what’s uh the circumstances
01:20:21 of what’s going on in
01:20:23 >> or prescribe punishments for certain
01:20:25 activities.
01:20:26 >> Yeah. Yes. So those three are the reason
01:20:30 they’re focusing on those three is
01:20:33 because
01:20:35 you’re supposed to be cut off from the
01:20:36 people if you do the if you do those
01:20:39 three. Okay. Any of those three.
01:20:43 >> Yes, any of those three. Now, I’m I’m
01:20:45 not going to spend time reading
01:20:46 Leviticus 17 and 18 to go over that. You
01:20:49 can do that on your own. It is.
01:20:52 >> But it’s in there.
01:20:53 >> It’s It’s all in there.
01:20:56 >> Yes. So,
01:20:58 >> um
01:20:58 >> the many way including the many ways and
01:21:01 forms of porna that you can get into.
01:21:04 >> Yes. Don’t do that. Um
01:21:08 >> please
01:21:09 >> the the bounds that you can do that is
01:21:11 with your spouse and your spouse period.
01:21:14 Okay. Um there is a a
01:21:18 it is to bind the husband and wife
01:21:21 together because for one that’s the only
01:21:23 place you can get it
01:21:25 >> and it’s a big drive. I mean it may be
01:21:29 more in
01:21:29 >> it’s a very human drive. It’s a very
01:21:31 human drive.
01:21:33 >> It’s in both of males and females. Um,
01:21:36 oh yeah, it’s bigger in males. There’s
01:21:39 Anyways, but uh males and females are
01:21:41 different. Males
01:21:43 >> uh want the physical contact more uh and
01:21:46 females need the emotional support more.
01:21:48 We’ll just leave it at that because
01:21:50 that’s not the subject we’re on right
01:21:51 now. So, uh let’s look at some of these
01:21:54 other letters within the New Testament
01:21:56 that teach the same thing. So there’s
01:21:59 Corinthians um 1 Corinthians 10 which is
01:22:03 um another letter to the same city from
01:22:07 Paul.
01:22:07 >> Is this the is the first one from sec is
01:22:10 the first one from 2 Corinthians or is
01:22:12 it also from first Corinthians?
01:22:14 >> Uh I the ones I know are first
01:22:16 Corinthians but I I will
01:22:18 >> No, I’m just talking about the one that
01:22:20 we just went through. That’s first.
01:22:22 >> Oh, that was first Corinthians. That was
01:22:23 first Corinthians.
01:22:24 >> Yeah. So this is the same letter.
01:22:27 >> Is it the same letter?
01:22:29 >> First Corinthians.
01:22:31 >> Well, yeah, but I I thought So this is
01:22:33 maybe
01:22:34 >> this is the first epistle of Paul to the
01:22:36 Corinthians.
01:22:37 >> Oh, so all all the chapters are the one
01:22:40 epistle.
01:22:41 >> Yep. They’re one letter.
01:22:42 >> Oh, okay. All right. So I was wrong
01:22:44 about that part. So he’s re-emphasizing
01:22:47 again then within the one letter. Sorry
01:22:49 about that.
01:22:50 >> Yep. Um, for some reason I was under the
01:22:53 impression each chapter was a different
01:22:56 letter, but I guess I’m wrong. That’s
01:22:58 fine.
01:22:58 >> Mhm.
01:22:59 >> Um, so, uh, with that, since Bren, uh,
01:23:03 knows more than that than me, can you
01:23:05 read, uh, 20 and 21 for us?
01:23:09 >> But I say that the things which the
01:23:11 Gentiles sacrifice, they
01:23:13 >> Okay. So, Gentiles, the pagans, the
01:23:15 non-believers, right?
01:23:17 >> Yeah. The the
01:23:20 >> Yes.
01:23:21 uh
01:23:24 which the Gentiles sacrifice, they
01:23:26 sacrifice to devils and not to Elohim.
01:23:29 And I would not that ye should be that
01:23:31 ye should have fellowship with devils.
01:23:34 >> Okay. So wait a minute. So if we eat
01:23:36 what was offered unto the devils
01:23:38 knowingly
01:23:41 >> we have associated ourselves with them.
01:23:44 >> We have we have fellowship with devils.
01:23:49 >> Correct. Now, so I know I I did not have
01:23:51 t enough time to glyph all this, but I
01:23:54 am adding it as we’re talking. It’s
01:23:56 knowingly, okay? And you will even see
01:23:58 this later. Um, as we
01:24:01 >> And so, so again, ye cannot knowingly
01:24:04 drink the cup of ya and the cup of
01:24:08 devils. Ye cannot be partakers of Yah’s
01:24:11 table and the table of devils. So in
01:24:17 you, in other words,
01:24:19 >> you can’t serve two masters.
01:24:21 >> Yeah. But what this seems to me is that
01:24:26 such and one
01:24:29 ought not to be allowed to partake of
01:24:31 the sacrament.
01:24:35 >> Yes, I completely agree. If you’re doing
01:24:37 this knowingly,
01:24:39 uh the the Yahweh’s table meal is the
01:24:43 sacrament has been springing out here.
01:24:45 Just so people are understanding why
01:24:48 he’s saying that. Okay.
01:24:49 >> Right. Right. Right.
01:24:53 >> But yes, you can’t knowingly partake and
01:24:56 and support
01:24:59 idol worship and and be of Yahweh.
01:25:02 >> Pagan holidays.
01:25:04 >> Yes. which goes on pagan holidays and to
01:25:06 be specific I’ll name it again myself
01:25:09 Christmas Easter Valentine’s Halloween
01:25:12 Thanksgiving
01:25:14 and many others okay um there there
01:25:18 there’s a lot of them so just
01:25:21 don’t practice the worldly holidays that
01:25:24 there you go
01:25:27 oh yeah and one that just happened New
01:25:29 Year’s Eve day uh that’s pagan too the
01:25:32 the New Year’s is in the spring, not the
01:25:35 winter. And April’s fools actually was
01:25:39 started when it went from Julian
01:25:41 calendar, which started in the spring,
01:25:43 to the Gagorian calendar, which in the
01:25:45 winter. Uh, and April Fools was to shame
01:25:48 people into not following Yahweh’s law
01:25:51 of
01:25:52 >> in the spring. Okay,
01:25:54 >> pretty much.
01:25:55 >> I have stuff on my calendar changes
01:25:57 resource page on that. Um, you don’t
01:26:00 have to believe me. Go research it. And
01:26:02 I made it easy. go click on some links
01:26:05 and read what other people have said. Um
01:26:08 >> so uh anyways uh along with that so
01:26:11 we’re not going to read all of uh
01:26:14 Corinthians 10:25 through31.
01:26:17 There is some minor JSTs there or new
01:26:20 translations there. Um
01:26:23 Andrew, can you read uh 1 Corinthians
01:26:26 10:25 for us?
01:26:30 >> Sure.
01:26:31 whatsoever is sold in the in the
01:26:34 shambles
01:26:36 that eat
01:26:37 asking no question for conscience sake.
01:26:40 >> Mhm.
01:26:41 >> So the shambles is basically the market,
01:26:44 right?
01:26:44 >> Yeah. The supermarket.
01:26:46 >> Makes sense.
01:26:47 >> And so if they’re not advertising it was
01:26:51 offered unto demons, don’t ask.
01:26:55 >> Right.
01:26:56 >> So yeah, the the thing is is that Yeah.
01:27:01 So the reason that’s called the shambles
01:27:03 is because basically the market in those
01:27:06 days was an outdoor affair.
01:27:10 >> In some places it still is even today.
01:27:13 >> Well, you have you have like uh the
01:27:15 farmers markets um even here in in Utah
01:27:20 and a lot of different places.
01:27:21 >> Well, actually in the Middle East,
01:27:22 outdoor markets are still quite common
01:27:25 place.
01:27:25 >> Yeah. And so you would still And so you
01:27:28 would go from stall to stall to purchase
01:27:31 uh what it is you desired
01:27:33 >> or swap meats. That’s very common for
01:27:36 those who have done that.
01:27:37 >> Yep. Y
01:27:39 >> it’s it’s still around. It’s not the
01:27:42 most popular in the USA. In other
01:27:45 countries, it’s still alive in various
01:27:47 forms.
01:27:48 >> Yep. Yeah. Anyway,
01:27:52 >> and then also here it says, I just want
01:27:54 to re-emphasize, if they’re not telling
01:27:57 you that it was offered unto idols,
01:28:01 >> don’t make a big deal out of it. Um,
01:28:04 >> yeah,
01:28:05 >> don’t be like the Pharisees. Don’t be
01:28:07 like the Pharisees.
01:28:08 >> Yeah. Yeah. If they advertise it, don’t
01:28:10 eat it. If they don’t
01:28:12 >> Well, that’s what the next verse says.
01:28:15 >> Yeah. Yeah. Oh, okay. So I I I I don’t I
01:28:19 seriously don’t have all this memorized.
01:28:20 I just I I understand the principle and
01:28:24 hopefully people can see the principle
01:28:26 being brought out from 1 Corinthians 8
01:28:30 >> as with the re-ransations I’ve did and
01:28:33 the glyphing or um
01:28:35 >> commenting that’s in that I did inline.
01:28:38 Right.
01:28:39 >> Yeah. It’s the same thing. It’s just
01:28:42 >> with bad translations and not knowing
01:28:45 the principles. It’s easy to
01:28:47 misunderstand.
01:28:48 >> Yes. Yes. Yes.
01:28:51 >> Okay. Um I I’m gonna I need to pause for
01:28:54 a minute. I’m sorry, guys.
01:28:56 >> Yeah.
01:28:59 >> All right. So, um since I basically just
01:29:03 said what first Corinthians 10:28 says,
01:29:06 I will just go ahead and read it. Um I’m
01:29:10 serious people. I’m not reading forward.
01:29:12 I just
01:29:14 when you know the principles and the
01:29:15 keys, it just makes sense and you can
01:29:19 see what the verses are leading up to.
01:29:22 Okay, so but anyways, here we go. But if
01:29:25 any man say unto you, this offered and
01:29:29 sacrificed unto idols, eat not for this,
01:29:34 it says his, and this is where I I
01:29:36 should I didn’t have time to look into
01:29:38 the inlinear, but I I would say his sake
01:29:41 or the sake that he told you this
01:29:43 information that showed it. So, meaning
01:29:46 he told you it was offered unto idols.
01:29:48 Don’t participate into that knowingly.
01:29:51 Okay.
01:29:52 >> Mhm.
01:29:53 >> For conscience sake. And conscious has
01:29:55 to do with discernment or knowing right
01:29:57 from wrong because Torah specifically
01:30:00 states eating that was offered unto
01:30:03 idols is wrong.
01:30:06 And conscious tells you even in modern
01:30:09 binocular what is right and wrong.
01:30:11 Right?
01:30:13 >> So don’t do what is wrong.
01:30:15 >> For the earth is Yahweh’s and the
01:30:18 fullness thereof.
01:30:19 So because Yahweh’s in charge, do what
01:30:23 Yah Yahweh says to do.
01:30:26 >> Mhm.
01:30:27 >> Is basically what that is saying.
01:30:29 >> Um so Zach,
01:30:31 >> I was going to go into that for his
01:30:33 sake. It’s not necessarily you’re you
01:30:37 refusing the meat actually does wonders
01:30:40 for his salvation.
01:30:43 It’s uh you’re he’s revealed it to I was
01:30:48 going to say he’s revealed it to you
01:30:50 just okay you know if you love me keep
01:30:54 my commandments
01:30:55 >> basically. Yep.
01:30:57 >> Yeah. Uh to to quote a verse I think
01:31:00 what’s going along with what Ben is
01:31:02 bringing out
01:31:04 love me keep my commandments according
01:31:07 to Yeshua. Um and I believe Yeshua.
01:31:11 And by the way, since Yeshua is the
01:31:14 mortal manifestation of Yahwa.
01:31:20 >> Oh, wait a minute.
01:31:23 >> That’s modalism.
01:31:24 >> That That’s the ten commandments are his
01:31:27 commandments.
01:31:28 >> Yes. Yeah. Because of modalism because
01:31:30 it it because it’s the same soul in two
01:31:35 different modes.
01:31:37 >> Uhhuh.
01:31:39 Um, it’s his
01:31:40 >> it’s the same soul playing two different
01:31:42 characters.
01:31:44 >> Yes. Uh, uh, which goes along with
01:31:47 lectures on faith.
01:31:50 Fine. Right.
01:31:52 >> Uh, dang it. It’s, it’s amazing how
01:31:56 things these things connect together
01:31:58 when it’s the truth.
01:32:02 >> So, uh, Brendan, will you read
01:32:04 Revelations 2:14 for us, please?
01:32:08 But I have a few things against thee,
01:32:11 because thou hast there them that hold
01:32:13 the doctrine of the lamb, who taught the
01:32:17 thac to cast a stumbling block before
01:32:21 the children of Israel, to eat things
01:32:23 sacrificed unto idols, and to commit
01:32:25 fornication.
01:32:26 Okay. So, to me, it’s pretty obvious
01:32:29 here within uh this book of Revelations,
01:32:32 which for those who are not aware, it
01:32:35 was written after Yeshua’s death and
01:32:37 resurrection, and it’s pointing to how
01:32:41 what’s taught in the five books of Moses
01:32:43 is still valid here. Right.
01:32:46 >> Right.
01:32:48 >> Um and that we should not eat meat
01:32:51 offered unto idols. And I’m going to put
01:32:53 a glyph here. um in in as we’re speaking
01:32:59 knowingly,
01:33:01 okay?
01:33:03 Don’t don’t go crazy.
01:33:05 Don’t be a zealot,
01:33:08 right?
01:33:09 >> Mhm. if they post it, which generally
01:33:13 speaking, those who were doing that for
01:33:16 um
01:33:18 uh worship of idols, they made it public
01:33:21 because that’s why they were doing it in
01:33:23 the first place. Right.
01:33:25 >> Right.
01:33:26 >> So, if they’re not posting it, the
01:33:28 likelihood of them doing it for that is
01:33:32 very slim to none. So, you don’t need to
01:33:35 make a big deal out of it.
01:33:38 >> Um Now this is an interesting thing here
01:33:42 because of the historical reference that
01:33:44 it makes. Um now this this portion of
01:33:48 this chapter is written to the an is
01:33:51 written to the church in Smyrna which is
01:33:55 a uh Greek citystate in what is now
01:33:59 modern day Turkey.
01:34:02 Um
01:34:03 and it they there they were uh
01:34:07 there was there was a lot of uh there
01:34:10 was a lot of persecution
01:34:12 of the of the uh people. They had
01:34:16 tribulation.
01:34:17 The pe the members the uh members of the
01:34:21 church there were not rich. They were
01:34:24 persecuted by the Jews.
01:34:26 Um so um
01:34:30 and
01:34:31 >> and the other local and the other
01:34:33 >> and the other local and the other local
01:34:35 people as well
01:34:37 >> and and uh Yahata lets them know that he
01:34:42 knows of their situation,
01:34:45 but he also lets them know that they’re
01:34:50 harboring this in their midst.
01:34:52 >> As in they need to do some corrections,
01:34:54 right?
01:34:55 >> Yes. They’re harboring those who hold
01:34:57 the doctrine of Balam. Now, what is the
01:35:01 doctrine of Balam?
01:35:03 Let’s go to
01:35:04 >> none of or one of them, right?
01:35:09 >> There’s
01:35:11 he was basically teaching Israel to sin.
01:35:15 >> Um,
01:35:16 >> yes, there are some specifics on that.
01:35:19 >> So, wait a minute. Doesn’t that sound
01:35:23 like
01:35:26 telling Christians the Torah is done
01:35:28 away.
01:35:29 >> Yes, it is. Yeah.
01:35:31 >> What?
01:35:32 >> Because it’s not. It was the law of
01:35:34 Moses, the punishments, primarily the
01:35:38 two daily lambs and there are some
01:35:40 others which um we’re not going to focus
01:35:42 on that was done away at the cross. It
01:35:45 was not Torah. So those who hold. So
01:35:48 it’s really interesting
01:35:52 that it’s the descenders the descendants
01:35:54 of these people who were harboring
01:35:57 people
01:35:59 who uh it’s the descendants of that
01:36:03 faith that was harboring people who
01:36:05 taught the doctrines of Balam
01:36:10 that teach that the Torah is done away.
01:36:14 So just uh a quick history which uh Ben
01:36:17 will get into more specifics. So I’ll
01:36:19 just give some generals that Balam was a
01:36:23 prophet of Yahweh. He was tempted by
01:36:27 money from Bailo, right?
01:36:30 >> Yeah, from Balac. Yeah,
01:36:31 >> the Balok. Okay, I said it wrong. Um
01:36:34 that uh to curse the Israelites. Yahweh
01:36:39 would not do that.
01:36:42 And Balom said he couldn’t say anything
01:36:45 but what Yahweh said and he did stay
01:36:48 true to that but he still was tempted by
01:36:52 the honor and money but Bailo was going
01:36:55 to give him. So he tell told Bailo how
01:36:59 to get Israelites to curse themselves.
01:37:02 >> Yeah. As we’ll read about here in um
01:37:07 Deuteronomy chapter 31.
01:37:11 Oh, I I don’t have that. Um, so I’ve
01:37:14 >> Oh, sorry. Wait, let me see what
01:37:16 >> I think you mean. Do you mean Numbers
01:37:18 31?
01:37:18 >> Yeah, Numbers 31. Yeah.
01:37:20 >> Okay. Okay. All right. So,
01:37:21 >> Numbers 31:16.
01:37:24 >> Behold, these caused the children of
01:37:26 Israel through the council of Balam to
01:37:29 commit trespass against the Lord in the
01:37:32 matter of Peor or Baal Peor.
01:37:38 Yeah.
01:37:38 >> And there and there was a plague among
01:37:40 the congregation of Ya
01:37:43 >> meaning that Oh, go ahead, Ben. So
01:37:47 Balam
01:37:49 used
01:37:51 got the it got
01:37:54 Balok to use the women of his country to
01:37:58 entice the men of Israel
01:38:05 into the participation
01:38:09 in their uh religious rights and rituals
01:38:12 in which as we will find out uh as we
01:38:16 read in um
01:38:18 >> numbers 25
01:38:19 >> numbers 25 included eating the food
01:38:24 sacrificed to idols the
01:38:26 >> so I I I will just say this women uh do
01:38:30 have a power over men okay now uh that
01:38:35 could be for righteousness or wickedness
01:38:37 um and depending on the man
01:38:41 uh
01:38:44 He will give in into wickedness or or
01:38:47 not. Okay. Now, a lot of these men
01:38:50 >> I would I would say I would say the
01:38:52 women have influence extreme influence
01:38:55 on men.
01:38:55 >> Oh, yeah. That’s a better sure that’s
01:38:57 probably a better way to say it in
01:38:58 today’s vernacular. They have a lot of
01:39:00 influence
01:39:01 um o over men. Um I I
01:39:07 Yahweh put in men a desire to be with
01:39:10 women and he put in desire in women to
01:39:13 be with men. Now uh the question is
01:39:17 within the bounds that he sets uh being
01:39:20 together and what they do once they’re
01:39:22 together. Right? So,
01:39:25 >> and and you know, there’s actually
01:39:27 something um there’s actually something
01:39:30 to there’s actually something
01:39:34 um to the fact to the things that women
01:39:39 desire from men that actually causes men
01:39:43 to um
01:39:45 to they can actually cause men to uh
01:39:50 walk in their Toric responsibilities to
01:39:53 their family.
01:39:55 >> That desire for that desire for
01:39:57 stability, that desire for um
01:40:01 uh uh for a prosperous place wherein
01:40:05 they wherein the uh wherein the family
01:40:08 can be nurtured.
01:40:10 um that that will they will um influence
01:40:14 men to continually expand
01:40:19 um to to continually expand
01:40:23 uh their power circle because women
01:40:28 their power and their money, right? So
01:40:31 that way they care of their immediate
01:40:34 family,
01:40:34 >> they care for their family. Um now now
01:40:38 the uh
01:40:40 And so that is and so in in many ways
01:40:43 the things the interplays
01:40:46 between men and women that are in many
01:40:50 ways extreme in many ways extremely
01:40:52 annoying and yet at the same time
01:40:54 they’re absolutely necessary.
01:40:56 >> Yeah. And I will say this just real
01:40:58 quick because this is not the subject
01:40:59 we’re on but I do think it’s important
01:41:01 with what we’re uh sidetracking on right
01:41:04 now. The patterns of how men and women
01:41:07 are to act righteously with each other
01:41:11 matches
01:41:12 how Yahweh works with his um church of
01:41:16 the firstborn. Um and Paul brings that
01:41:19 out um to some degree in his letters,
01:41:23 but it’s it it’s very deep. And I’ll
01:41:25 just leave it at that.
01:41:27 Um, the
01:41:30 husband and wife relationship matters
01:41:33 Yahweh in the church of the firstborn on
01:41:35 many aspects and many levels. Okay.
01:41:44 So, and Ben’s going to bring out uh
01:41:47 Numbers 25 1-5, which he found to help
01:41:51 with the lesson today about some of the
01:41:54 specifics
01:41:55 that Numbers 31:16 talks about, which
01:41:59 includes how
01:42:02 one of the things that they used that
01:42:04 Balam taught Bailo to use against the
01:42:07 Israelites, showing he knew what the law
01:42:10 was to get them to to tempt them to not
01:42:14 keep it as in he was a true prophet of
01:42:18 Yahweh that then later fell.
01:42:21 >> Mhm. It is eating food sacrificed unto
01:42:25 idols. Well, and it just goes to show
01:42:28 that covetousness is the ultimate
01:42:30 downfall of even the servants.
01:42:34 Is the ultimate downfall of even the
01:42:35 servants of Yahw. He coveted. He coveted
01:42:38 that that money that was promised to
01:42:40 him.
01:42:41 >> Well, and the glory and the power.
01:42:44 >> Yep. And so he and so he did that which
01:42:49 was grievous in the sight of Ya. And
01:42:53 when Israel came through his land,
01:42:56 he was slain and left to be eaten by the
01:42:59 eagles.
01:43:00 >> Right. Which also shows that there were
01:43:02 prophets outside of Israel.
01:43:05 >> Mhm. Oh. Israel.
01:43:07 >> Wait a minute. You mean that you mean
01:43:09 that Israel is not the only nation that
01:43:12 God has known?
01:43:14 >> Yes, exactly. Uh which goes along with
01:43:17 second Nephi 29 even. Yeah. Um here it
01:43:20 is an example of that here in the Bible.
01:43:23 Right. So anyways, go ahead, Ben.
01:43:25 >> And Israel abodeed in Shim and the
01:43:29 people began to commit whoredom with the
01:43:31 daughters of Moab. And they called the
01:43:34 people and they called the people unto
01:43:36 the sacrifices of their gods. And the
01:43:40 people did eat.
01:43:43 >> There’s those uh food s food sacrificed
01:43:46 unto the false gods. Right.
01:43:48 >> And bowed down to their gods.
01:43:52 >> Yep.
01:43:53 >> And Israel joined himself unto Baal
01:43:56 Pure. And the anger of Yuz kindled
01:44:00 against Israel. And Yoha said unto
01:44:02 Moshe, “Take all the heads of the people
01:44:05 and hang them up before Yoha against the
01:44:08 son, that the fierce anger of Yah may be
01:44:11 turned away from Israel.” And Moshe said
01:44:14 unto the judges of Israel, “Slay ye
01:44:16 everyone his men that were joined unto
01:44:18 Baal pure.” So this hanging the heads of
01:44:21 the people, this is uh hanging them from
01:44:25 a tree. Cursed is he that hangeth from a
01:44:30 tree.
01:44:31 >> Yeah. So for those I know there’s sadly
01:44:34 people who claim to want to keep Torah
01:44:37 that claim that hanging from the tree is
01:44:40 pagan. No, that’s Tori.
01:44:44 Here it in the Book of Mormon third
01:44:48 Nephi something. I’m sorry. One of the
01:44:50 earlier chapters. It’s in Torah.
01:44:54 Uh other than just this one. And here is
01:44:56 an example of it being stated to do
01:45:00 because of they were sinning.
01:45:04 >> Mhm.
01:45:05 >> Uh I I’ I’d have to look at notes where
01:45:07 it’s actually stated in Torah. I I it’s
01:45:08 hard to remember everything.
01:45:10 >> But yeah, so this so this is the thing
01:45:12 here. Um
01:45:15 this is this is one of those places
01:45:17 where it m it becomes exceedingly clear
01:45:23 we are not
01:45:26 if we can if we have when we have come
01:45:30 under the covering of Yeshua Hamashiach
01:45:35 and we are
01:45:38 seeking to become like him. We are in
01:45:41 the
01:45:42 we we have been justified in his blood.
01:45:49 >> Or in other words, there’s his life and
01:45:51 righteousness, right?
01:45:52 >> Mhm. And but also his blood shed for us
01:45:57 that we could be justified.
01:46:02 >> Yes.
01:46:05 and we go and we turn back to our pagan
01:46:09 ways.
01:46:16 It is death.
01:46:19 >> Yeah. As in separation from Yah.
01:46:22 >> Mhm.
01:46:25 It is death.
01:46:27 Yeah. So that it and and he’s correct in
01:46:30 that the separation from Yahw it is as
01:46:33 if there was no atonement made for you.
01:46:36 >> Yeah. And then here it is specifically
01:46:39 physical death. But the one that we need
01:46:41 to worry most about is spiritual death.
01:46:45 A man dies without mercy who breaks the
01:46:49 law of Moses
01:46:51 under the under the uh with the uh with
01:46:56 under the testimony of two or three
01:46:58 witnesses.
01:46:59 >> Yeah.
01:47:00 >> And on that I do believe he means more
01:47:02 Torah than
01:47:04 >> Yeah, I think that one is more of it’s
01:47:07 kind of a
01:47:09 I think I do think he does mean Torah
01:47:11 there.
01:47:12 >> Yeah. So just just so people sometimes
01:47:15 in the scriptures law of Moses is
01:47:17 punishments plus the law of Yahweh
01:47:21 Yeshua Torah and sometimes it’s separate
01:47:25 it’s
01:47:27 without the knowledge of what what is
01:47:30 what it can be confusing but when you
01:47:32 know what it is some of it’s translation
01:47:34 issues and some of it’s just the way the
01:47:36 personal preference of a person likes to
01:47:38 talk about it. So,
01:47:40 >> so, so my so, so once again, my point is
01:47:44 we cannot
01:47:46 sit at the devil’s table.
01:47:50 We cannot eat from
01:47:54 the
01:47:57 quote unquote table of the gods,
01:48:02 >> right? As in the Greek theology there,
01:48:05 >> right? mythology. Maybe it’s probably
01:48:07 better.
01:48:09 >> If you wish to rem if we wish to remain
01:48:12 covered, we have to keep our promises.
01:48:18 >> Yeah. And on that uh before we’re
01:48:21 baptized, before we’re baptized, we
01:48:24 promise to keep all of Yahweh’s
01:48:26 commandments, aka Torah. Okay.
01:48:31 And so, and it’s made very clear here
01:48:33 that that that
01:48:36 eating of food offered to idols,
01:48:40 it’s almost like it if we look at this
01:48:42 here, they called unto the people, the
01:48:45 people under the sacrifices of their
01:48:47 gods, and the people did eat and bowed
01:48:51 down to their gods. So, they first they
01:48:55 come out and they see what they’re doing
01:48:57 with to their gods.
01:49:00 Then they eat the meal
01:49:03 and then they bow down
01:49:05 >> as this is
01:49:06 >> it’s a progression going from simpler to
01:49:11 more fulfilling and doing it and being
01:49:14 part of it.
01:49:15 >> Mhm.
01:49:16 >> Or as in with uh Eve, they first saw and
01:49:21 desired and then did. How can you turn
01:49:25 away from Babylon
01:49:28 when you’re engaging
01:49:31 fully
01:49:34 in its practices?
01:49:37 >> You can’t because you actually are
01:49:39 enjoying it because you like your sins
01:49:42 more than Yeshua.
01:49:45 >> Yeah.
01:49:46 >> And so you will not turn away from
01:49:49 Babylon or Satan because you’re enjoying
01:49:53 it.
01:49:54 Mhm.
01:49:56 And so that’s the big lesson there that
01:49:58 we get from the doctrines of Bam. He
01:50:01 basically
01:50:03 infiltration,
01:50:05 corruption
01:50:09 and even onto the point or on things
01:50:11 that first initially start to look like
01:50:13 it’s no big deal. I mean this even goes
01:50:18 along with how Eve started with eating
01:50:20 the forbidden fruit.
01:50:23 Which goes back to that whole thing of
01:50:29 don’t be in you know that whole thing of
01:50:32 even appearing you even the appearance
01:50:36 of evil must
01:50:38 >> right there
01:50:41 >> because it starts small. You you you
01:50:44 think you’re righteous um but you’re
01:50:47 you’re not being very wise about your
01:50:50 righteousness.
01:50:51 you know, they’re they’re still keeping
01:50:53 their Torah, but they’re going they’re
01:50:55 still keeping the Torah, but they’re
01:50:56 going out and they’re seeing what
01:50:57 they’re doing at the temple.
01:50:59 >> Yeah. Yeah. Or they’re they’re they’re
01:51:01 they’re getting as close to the the
01:51:04 fence line or the borders as they think
01:51:07 they can get away with.
01:51:08 >> Hey, come and eat this food. It’s been
01:51:10 sacrificed to this god. Oh, well, it
01:51:12 looks it smells delicious.
01:51:16 >> Yeah, just like that apple,
01:51:19 >> right? I mean, that’s the Christian
01:51:22 tradition. The the Jewish tradition is
01:51:24 fig it. And I’ll tell you, it wasn’t a
01:51:28 fruit. It was sin.
01:51:30 >> Mhm.
01:51:31 >> Because it came off of Satan’s tree.
01:51:34 It’s sin. But um I we don’t know the
01:51:38 specific sin.
01:51:40 >> It’s just sin.
01:51:42 >> Okay. Fruits are works.
01:51:44 >> Yeah.
01:51:45 >> She did a work of um sin. So,
01:51:50 >> well,
01:51:52 >> I mean, yeah. So, you know, it’s uh it’s
01:51:55 that and so that’s interesting. So,
01:51:57 moving on to Revelation 2:20.
01:51:59 >> Yeah. So, let me read this one. Um and
01:52:01 then Ben will talk about some history
01:52:03 that goes along with it. Okay. So,
01:52:05 Revelations 2:20. Notwithstanding, I
01:52:09 have a few things against thee, this is
01:52:11 Yahweh, against this particular city,
01:52:13 which I don’t remember which one it is.
01:52:15 Um because thou sufferest that woman
01:52:19 Jezebel. So this is uh not the ancient
01:52:22 one but a current one and Ben will get
01:52:24 into or current to them at the time.
01:52:28 >> Ben will get into that in just a minute.
01:52:30 Which callest herself a prophetus to
01:52:34 teach and seduce my Yahweh’s servants to
01:52:37 commit fornication or this is going to
01:52:39 be porna uh anything sexual sins. Okay.
01:52:44 and eat things sacrificed unto idols.
01:52:49 So, here’s another instance that shows
01:52:52 how eating things knowingly sacrificed
01:52:55 unto idols is a sin. Okay? And so, Ben’s
01:52:59 going to get in some of the history
01:53:00 because he’s better at that than I am.
01:53:02 >> The name of that city is Thot is
01:53:05 Thotira.
01:53:07 It’s a city in Asia Minor, again,
01:53:09 Turkey, um, present day Turkey.
01:53:14 And they this was a place where the
01:53:17 people were doing good works.
01:53:21 I know thy works and thy charity and thy
01:53:23 service and faith and thy patience and
01:53:25 thy works the last to be more than the
01:53:27 first.
01:53:28 They were doing the good works. They
01:53:31 were doing the charity
01:53:34 but
01:53:36 they had
01:53:38 a false prophetus in their midst.
01:53:43 Now, was her name actually Jezebel? I
01:53:45 don’t know.
01:53:47 >> Yeah, it could be that they just labeled
01:53:49 her that because she was doing the same
01:53:50 things as the ancient historical one.
01:53:53 Yeah, they they label her Jezebel
01:53:56 because
01:53:58 um of her the resemblance of what she’s
01:54:01 doing to the works of Jezebel, the uh
01:54:06 ancient the queen of um Ahab, Ahab’s
01:54:11 queen in Israel, who led to the
01:54:14 destruction of the nation.
01:54:16 Well, at least to the destruction of his
01:54:18 line, that’s for sure.
01:54:21 >> Yes. Um
01:54:23 >> though she did cause many people to sin
01:54:26 with her
01:54:27 >> yes sheaus
01:54:28 >> temptations and abominations.
01:54:29 >> She caused many people to perish in sin.
01:54:32 Um uh reinforced
01:54:36 the ties between Israel and Baal.
01:54:41 You see the common denominator between
01:54:43 Balam and uh Jezebel is Baal.
01:54:50 Mhm. Which is a uh focus on various
01:54:55 aspects
01:54:56 >> which is the deification. Who is the
01:54:58 deification
01:55:01 >> of Nimrod?
01:55:04 >> Yeah. Representing Satan. But yes.
01:55:07 >> Yeah. Representing Satan, of course,
01:55:08 because well,
01:55:10 >> he was a good representation. Uh
01:55:13 >> yes, he was. That’s for sure.
01:55:16 So uh so that’s uh
01:55:20 >> he he was uh a cane after the flood,
01:55:24 right?
01:55:25 >> Yes. He was he was literally Yeah. He he
01:55:29 he was a man of incredible he was a man
01:55:31 of incredible ambition and thirst for
01:55:33 power and he
01:55:36 uh he used religion to that end.
01:55:40 >> Yes. Um,
01:55:43 but Jezebel
01:55:45 basically did the same thing
01:55:48 and had the same ambitions
01:55:52 and she was
01:55:56 um
01:55:59 she was not a virtue she she was not a
01:56:02 virtuous woman. She was a
01:56:06 >> Yes. Um, Ahab and Jezebel had an we’ll
01:56:10 just say they had an open relationship.
01:56:14 Um,
01:56:17 let the STDs flow. But the um
01:56:22 but the uh so the but the
01:56:29 when she found out that she’s about to
01:56:32 be destroyed that Samaria is about to be
01:56:35 taken by Yahoo
01:56:38 and that she’s about to be destroyed.
01:56:41 She thinks by putting on her makeup,
01:56:45 getting all doled up, she can seduce
01:56:48 Yahoo.
01:56:54 And so, well, that didn’t work.
01:57:00 No,
01:57:01 >> Yahoo. Yahoo caused her to meet the
01:57:03 stones below.
01:57:07 So, um,
01:57:11 but the the thing is
01:57:14 this is the kind of woman that
01:57:17 that she was and her sole purpose was to
01:57:22 build up her sole desire was to build up
01:57:26 the worship of Baal because the worship
01:57:29 of Baal is basically enshrining
01:57:35 and basically enshrines the present
01:57:37 leadership
01:57:38 >> which gave her power and prestige and
01:57:42 money. Right.
01:57:43 >> Yes. Yes.
01:57:44 >> Which is the same thing that people are
01:57:47 tempted with today.
01:57:49 >> And so the and so we have here two
01:57:52 people doing the same thing for the same
01:57:57 reasons.
01:58:00 And the church
01:58:08 bell.
01:58:10 >> Yes. And um within the historical uh
01:58:15 Jezebel as in the Old Testament uh
01:58:18 Tanakh uh she did it is specifically
01:58:22 stated that she did cause people to
01:58:25 worship uh Ba Bal.
01:58:28 >> Mhm. And to commit and to commit
01:58:31 fornications
01:58:33 and uh the Yeah. and to commit
01:58:37 fornications and to be uh
01:58:41 and to uh and do all the things that are
01:58:44 associated with the worship ball
01:58:46 including
01:58:48 >> including eating from the table of the
01:58:49 gods.
01:58:50 >> Correct. Or as in um food uh offered
01:58:54 unto false gods which um Revelations 2
01:58:59 is calling out specifically, right? and
01:59:03 among other verses in the five books of
01:59:06 Moses
01:59:07 >> and which numbers shows uh shows to be
01:59:10 an intermediate step on the path to the
01:59:13 ultimate rejection of Torah.
01:59:15 >> Correct. So um hopefully with all these
01:59:19 different verses uh you were done right
01:59:22 Ben?
01:59:22 >> Yeah. Oh yeah yeah yeah. So hopefully
01:59:24 with all these um additional verses uh
01:59:29 re-ransation of a few words here and the
01:59:32 commentary on 1 Corinthians 8, hopefully
01:59:35 it is clear that Paul is actually is
01:59:39 teaching Torah. He’s just saying don’t
01:59:43 freak out about it.
01:59:46 >> Also don’t make it look like you’re
01:59:48 doing something that you’re actually not
01:59:50 doing.
01:59:52 >> Right.
01:59:54 um in that uh keep Torah
01:59:58 uh it because of the idea that there if
02:00:02 they are actually if the food was
02:00:04 actually offered onto idols they would
02:00:06 advertise it because that’s what people
02:00:08 are buying it for as in verse 7 brings
02:00:11 out. You don’t need to ask them because
02:00:14 they advertise it. If you find out about
02:00:17 it, don’t eat it. If you don’t if they
02:00:20 didn’t tell you, just assume that they
02:00:22 didn’t offer it on to uh idols and don’t
02:00:26 freak out. Don’t be a zealot about it.
02:00:29 Yeah. The thing is is that most people
02:00:33 when they were offering food blessed by
02:00:36 a certain god, i.e. offered to that god
02:00:40 and then repurchased,
02:00:44 blessed by a certain god, they would
02:00:47 make sure that you knew about it.
02:00:49 >> Yeah. So,
02:00:50 >> this food is blessed by this god.
02:00:54 >> Yeah. So, there was no reason to need to
02:00:56 ask
02:00:57 >> because they advertised it. So, you
02:00:59 didn’t have to be
02:01:02 extra careful about it because they told
02:01:05 you about it because that was the reason
02:01:06 that people bought it.
02:01:10 And don’t go into a temple where they’re
02:01:14 doing that and eat with them. So that
02:01:16 way those weaker in the faith think that
02:01:18 you’re doing something that’s actually
02:01:20 sinful which would then cause them to do
02:01:24 something that’s sin.
02:01:26 >> Exactly.
02:01:28 >> So because they’re confused about what’s
02:01:30 going on, hence abstaining from any
02:01:33 appearance of evil. Is does this now
02:01:37 does this mean that if our family h if
02:01:40 your family that does not believe has a
02:01:43 Christmas dinner that you should not
02:01:45 attend it?
02:01:49 Uh so that’s I think another subject
02:01:52 it’s uh debatable. Um so um I I’ve heard
02:01:58 arguments various ways. Um
02:02:01 >> yeah, it’s it’s one of those things that
02:02:03 uh
02:02:06 gather wisdom.
02:02:08 >> Yes.
02:02:09 >> Act in wisdom in all ways.
02:02:12 >> Uh I I I would and and this is me. If
02:02:15 you do, make sure that they know that
02:02:17 you don’t believe in practicing it, but
02:02:20 you’re there to spend time with them.
02:02:22 But this is where Ben brought up use
02:02:25 wisdom. So
02:02:28 >> anyways, um I I think with that we’ll
02:02:32 end in the name of Yeshua, the Messiah.
02:02:35 And I I I actually
02:02:38 come to him and his ways. The New
02:02:41 Testament and the Book of Mormon and the
02:02:43 DNC bring out that even after Yeshua’s
02:02:48 death and resurrection, Torah, his
02:02:51 eternal law is still valid. And it
02:02:55 teaches you how to be like him.
02:02:59 Believers love the claim that they want
02:03:02 to be like him.
02:03:06 The scriptures teach you how to do that
02:03:09 and they’re consistent throughout time.
02:03:12 Otherwise, you would be a respector of
02:03:15 persons because you would a respector of
02:03:18 person is someone who requires a
02:03:20 different standard for different people.
02:03:22 It’s the same standard throughout
02:03:24 eternity,
02:03:26 which includes mortality. All of it. All
02:03:30 7,000 years of mortality has the same
02:03:33 standard. The same standards in
02:03:35 eternity. Also, if you hate the standard
02:03:38 now, you’re going to hate it after your
02:03:42 resurrection. as in Elma
02:03:46 34 brings out um that you’ll have the
02:03:49 same behavior
02:03:51 uh when you die uh that you’ll have that
02:03:55 in the resurrection. So I I don’t know
02:03:59 if anybody else wants to add anything.
02:04:01 >> Okay. I I just would like to say
02:04:04 these verses are often um
02:04:09 often when people teach these verses,
02:04:12 it’s almost like they’re looking for an
02:04:13 excuse to relax the commandment not to
02:04:17 eat food sacrificed to idols.
02:04:22 >> Yeah, I agree. I
02:04:24 >> I I I I’ve looked around myself,
02:04:27 especially when I first started
02:04:28 learning.
02:04:30 >> Um, no one knows what to do with this
02:04:33 really.
02:04:34 >> Yo gave this to me and because of
02:04:37 helping Bernie out with his uh kosher
02:04:41 and health page, I I shared it with him
02:04:43 and I’m like, we should share this
02:04:45 online. So
02:04:46 >> So all I have to say is stop.
02:04:52 Amen.
02:04:53 >> Looking for reasons to relax the
02:04:56 commandments. Stop looking for ways to
02:05:00 render the mind and will of Elohim null
02:05:05 and void.
02:05:08 >> Amen. If you claim to believe in Yahwa
02:05:15 and you say that Torah is invalid, you
02:05:19 have just invalidated his the mind and
02:05:22 will of the God you claim to love.
02:05:25 >> Yeah. Which he says, “If you love me,
02:05:28 keep my commandments.”
02:05:30 >> That is exactly what he says. If you
02:05:33 love me, keep my commandments. When you
02:05:35 realize that
02:05:37 Yah is Yeshua is Yahwa,
02:05:44 the Ten Commandments and Torah and
02:05:47 everything in the Old Testament
02:05:50 that is prescriptive, not descriptive,
02:05:54 >> and not a prescribed punishment, but
02:05:56 anyway.
02:05:56 >> Yeah, that’s true. Uh, and not a
02:05:59 prescribed punishment. It’s still the
02:06:02 mind and will of Yah.
02:06:06 And it is after you have come under the
02:06:09 covering of the blood of the lamb, the
02:06:12 power of Yah on salvation. And it will
02:06:15 give you what you need to become like
02:06:18 him, which you say you want to do. And
02:06:21 you say you took his name upon you but
02:06:23 you have left it
02:06:27 so that you can feel good in your sins.
02:06:31 Yeah. So name means character. And I
02:06:33 want to bring out that in uh second
02:06:35 Nephi 29 it talks about how uh
02:06:41 that people deny the power of Yeshua.
02:06:44 And the power of Yeshua is Torah. It is
02:06:47 because he kept Torah and everything it
02:06:51 stays as punishment and curses which is
02:06:53 what he does.
02:06:56 So
02:07:00 love actually love your Eloh
02:07:06 and don’t make him punish you.
02:07:12 G give him reasons to bless you. I mean
02:07:15 I I I don’t know about you, I want
02:07:18 blessings, not cursings. I I maybe I
02:07:21 have a problem, but that’s what I want.
02:07:24 And you get the blessings by keeping
02:07:27 >> is
02:07:29 you get the blessings by becoming.
02:07:33 >> Yeah.
02:07:35 >> Because those blessings can only be
02:07:38 properly appreciated by those who have
02:07:41 become.
02:07:42 >> Yeah.
02:07:44 And he’s
02:07:45 >> they’re the ones that are going to
02:07:46 understand it if nothing else.
02:07:48 >> And he’s not going to throw He’s not
02:07:51 going to throw his pearls before swine.
02:07:56 >> You mean like uncosher?
02:07:58 >> Uncooser. Unclean. And the people who
02:08:01 eat such are uncosher unclean. If you
02:08:04 eat pig, you are pig. No,
02:08:12 >> stop.
02:08:16 >> Stop being the creature
02:08:20 >> as in the natural man.
02:08:22 >> Become
02:08:25 who you were supposed to be. Become who
02:08:28 you came down here to become.
02:08:32 Walk in the ways of Torah.
02:08:38 And don’t walk after idols.
02:08:43 Be a pervert
02:08:47 and other disobey
02:08:51 disobey kosher law
02:08:54 and avoid others who are keeping Torah.
02:09:01 meet together often.
02:09:08 Yeah.
02:09:11 >> And we’ll help each other get there.
02:09:13 >> Yeah. Yeah.
02:09:16 >> That’s what And I’ll leave that out
02:09:17 there in the name of Yeshua Hamashiach.
02:09:21 I mean,
02:09:22 >> Amen. Uh does anybody else want to add
02:09:24 anything real quick?
02:09:26 No. Okay.
