Torah in the Book of Mormon After Yeshua’s Death

(see Torah, Torah is All Things, Torah is Light, Torah in the Doctrine and Covenants, Torah in the Millennium, Torah in Sermon on the Mount / Torah, Torah is Perfect)

In the Lectures on Faith 3, that was in the Doctrine and Covenants as the doctrine until 1920, it is made clear that if YHWH changed His law / Torah, we could not have hope unto faith because we would not know what we could have hope in or know what how to show we love Yeshua / Jesus by keeping His commands / Torah because they could have changed, biased upon the winds and doctrines of the moment. The holy prophets in the Book of Mormon after Yeshua’s / Jesus’ death shows that YHWH’s law, which is Torah, is still valid. They do this by teaching all of the 10 divisions of Torah after Yeshua’s / Jesus’ death. In addition, if Torah was not still valid, why was Yeshua / Jesus enacting punishment from Torah upon the Lehites after His death during Passover and Unleavened Bread, which by the way is the appointed time / moed when the wicked are destroyed throughout the Old Testament / Tanak.

1 Nephi (LDS 10:18-19)(RLDS 3:27-32)
A 18 For He [YHWH] is the same yesterday, today, and forever;
-B and the way [Torah] is prepared for all men
–C from the foundation of the world,
—D if it so be that they repent and come unto Him [Yeshua].
—-E 19 For He [YHWH] that diligently seeketh shall find;
—-E and the mysteries of God [Elohim] shall be unfolded unto them,
—D by the power of the Holy Ghost [Torah],
–C as well in these times as in times of old,
-B and as well in times of old as in times to come;
A wherefore, the course of the Lord [YHWH] is one eternal round.

Alma (LDS 7:20)(RLDS 5:34-35)
A 7 I perceive that it has been made known unto you,
-B by the testimony of His [YHWH] word [Torah],
–C that he cannot walk in crooked paths;
—D NEITHER DOTH HE [YHWH] VARY FROM THAT WHICH HE HATH SAID;
–C neither hath he a shadow of turning from the right to the left,
-B or from that which is right to that which is wrong;
A therefore, His [YHWH] course is one eternal round.

Lectures on Faith 3:21 But it is equally as necessary that men should have the idea that he is a God who changes not, in order to have faith in him, as it is to have the idea that he is gracious and long suffering. For without the idea of unchangeableness in the character if the Deity, doubt would take the place of faith. But with the idea that he changes not, faith lays hold upon the excellencies in his character with unshaken confidence, believing he is the same yesterday, to-day and forever, and that his course is one eternal round.

It is important to address 3 Nephi (LDS 9:16-19)(RLDS 4:46-49) and 3 Nephi (LDS 15:1-10) (RLDS 7:1-12) briefly because of how they are commonly incorrectly interpreted.

Regarding 3 Nephi (LDS 9:16-19)(RLDS 4:46-49), it is understandable for someone who has been taught all their lives that Torah has been done away with, would come to the conclusion that there should be no more animal sacrifices. When 3 Nephi (LDS 9:14-22) (RLDS 4:42-52) is seen in chiasmic poetry, that the tricky second D stanza is dealing with Law of Moses sacrifices which were a temporary punishment given because of the sexual sins they did during Pentecost / Shavuot instead of worshipping YHWH and giving Satan, the bull, the credit for what YHWH did for them. The teaching 3rd Nephi 9 Law of Moses goes over the Law of Moses with regards with this passage. Including showing from Numbers 28:1-8 that the two daily lambs, one of the punishments with the Law of Moses, had an expiration date to it.

3 Nephi (LDS 9:16-19)(RLDS 4:46-49)

—DA And the scriptures concerning My coming [TYPES OF THINGS TO COME] are fulfilled [finished].
—D-B 17 And as many as have received Me,
—D–C to them have I given
—D—D to become the sons of God [Elohim];
—D–C and even so will I
—D-B to as many as shall believe on My name [authority],
—DAA for behold, by Me redemption cometh,
—DAB and in me is the law of Moses [TYPES OF THINGS TO COME] fulfilled [ended].
—-EA 18 I am the light and the life of the world.
—-EB I am Alpha and Omega,
—-EC the beginning and the end.
—DA 19 And ye shall offer up unto Me no more
—D-B the shedding of blood [CARNAL COMMANDMENTS];
—D-B yea, your SACRIFICES and your BURNT OFFERINGS [TYPES OF THINGS TO COME]
—DAA shall be done away,
—DA-B for I will accept none
—DAA of your SACRIFICES and your BURNT OFFERINGS [TYPES OF THINGS TO COME].

Numbers 28:1-8
1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Command the children of Israel, and say unto them,
AA My offering,
AB and my bread for my sacrifices
AC made by fire,
AD for a sweet savour unto me, shall ye observe to offer unto me in their DUE SEASON [HAS EXPIRATION].
-BA 3 And thou shalt say unto them, This is the offering made by fire which ye shall offer unto the Lord [YHWH];
-B-B two lambs of the first year without spot DAY BY DAY, for a continual burnt offering.
-B-B 4 The one lamb shalt thou offer in the morning, and the other lamb shalt thou offer at even;
-BA 5 And a tenth part of an ephah of flour for a meat offering, mingled with the fourth part of an hin of beaten oil.
–C 6 It is a continual burnt offering,
—D which was ordained [established / started] in mount Sinai for a sweet savour,
–C a sacrifice made by fire unto the Lord [YHWH].
-BA 7 And the drink offering thereof shall be the fourth part of an hin
-BB for the one lamb:
-BA in the holy place shalt thou cause the strong wine to be poured unto the Lord [YHWH] for a drink offering.
-BB 8 And the other lamb shalt thou offer at even:
AA as the meat offering of the morning,
AB and as the drink offering thereof, thou shalt offer it,
AC a sacrifice made by fire,
AD of a sweet savour unto the Lord [YHWH].

In 3 Nephi (LDS 15:1-10)(RLDS 7:1-12), Yeshua / Jesus is bringing out how Torah, which is also known as all things, is being renewed while the Law of Moses, which was also known as old things, was done away with. Without knowing what these different terms mean, it is easy to misunderstand what Yeshua / Jesus is saying in 3 Nephi (LDS 15:1-10)(RLDS 7:1-12). But with knowing how YHWH does not vary from what He has said, we cannot conclude that Torah was done away with. Law of Moses was done away with as talked about throughout the Book of Mormon before that happened, see Law of Moses, and can be done away with because the Law of Moses was a punishment, and punishments do not have to be eternal. To better understand how all things can mean Torah see Torah is All Things.

3 Nephi (LDS 12:46-47)(RLDS 5:91-92)
AA 46 Therefore those things which were of old time [past],
A-B which were under [punishment] the law [of Moses],
AB in Me are all fulfilled [done away].
BA 47 Old things [law of Moses] are done away,
BB and all things [Torah] have become new [renewed].

3 Nephi (LDS 15:1-10)(RLDS 7:1-12)
1 And now it came to pass that when Jesus [Yeshua] had ended these sayings He cast his eyes round about on the multitude, and said unto them:
A Behold, ye have heard the things which I taught before I ascended to My Father;
-B therefore, whoso remembereth these sayings of Mine and doeth them,
–C him will I raise up [Celestial] at the last [judgement] day.
—D 2 And it came to pass that when Jesus [Yeshua] had said these words
—-EA He perceived that there were some among them who marveled,
—-EB and wondered what He would concerning the law of Moses [daily performances and ordinances];
—–FAA for they understood not the saying
—–FAB that old things [law of Moses] had passed away [3 Nephi (LDS 12:47)(RLDS 5:92)],
—–FAC and that all things [Torah] had become new [renew].
—–FBA 3 And he said unto them: Marvel not that
—–FBB I said unto you that old things [law of Moses] had passed away [finished] [3 Nephi (LDS 12:47)(RLDS 5:92)],
—–FBC and that all things [Torah] had become new [renew].
——G 4 Behold, I say unto you that the law [of Moses] is fulfilled that was given unto Moses [POINTING TO THAT GREAT AND LAST SACRIFICE].
——-H 5 Behold, I AM He that gave the law [of Moses, daily performances and ordinances],
——–I and I AM He who covenanted with My people Israel;
———J therefore, the law [of Moses, TYPES OF THINGS TO COME] in Me is fulfilled,
——–I for I have come to fulfil [keep the covenant] the law [of Moses, POINTING TO THAT GREAT AND LAST SACRIFICE];
——-H therefore it hath an end [at the cross].
——GA 6 Behold, I do not destroy the [commentary of] prophets [on Torah],
——GB for as many as have not been fulfilled in Me,
—–FA verily I say unto you, shall all be fulfilled.
—–F-B 7 And because I said unto you that old things [law of Moses] have passed away [3 Nephi (LDS 12:47)(RLDS 5:92)],
—–F-B I do not destroy that which hath been spoken concerning things which are to come [Torah in Millennium].
—–FA 8 For behold, the covenant which I have made with My people is not all fulfilled;
—-EA but the law [of Moses] which was given unto Moses [POINTING TO THAT GREAT AND LAST SACRIFICE]
—-EB hath an end in Me [at the cross].
—DA 9 Behold, I AM the law [of Moses],
—DB and the light [Torah].
–CA Look unto Me, and endure to the end, and ye shall live;
–CB for unto him that endureth to the end will I give eternal life [Celestial].
-BA 10 Behold, I have given unto you the commandments [Torah];
-BB therefore keep my commandments [Torah].
AA And this is the law [Torah] and the [commentary from the] prophets [on Torah],
AB for they [Torah & prophets] truly testified of Me [Yeshua].

It has been proposed, because of bad interpretations from 3 Nephi (LDS 9:14-22)(RLDS 4:42-52), that our broken heart and contrite spirit is to replace animal sacrifices. This is not the case, for one, prophecies about the Millennium and Second Coming shows that animal sacrifices are coming back, see Torah in Millennium and Second Coming. In addition, Psalm 51:17 shows us that YHWH Elohim required a broken heart and contrite spirit during the time while there should be no controversy that animal sacrifice was required. This tells us by reason, that a broken heart and contrite spirit did not replace animal sacrifice. On top of all of that, 4 Nephi (LDS 1:12)(RLDS 1:13) tells us that the Lehites are no longer performing the performances and ordinances, which are key words pointing to the Law of Moses, but are keeping the commandments / Torah that they got from YHWH Elohim which is Torah not something new from Yeshua / Jesus.

Psalm 51:17
A 17 The sacrifices of God [Elohim] are
-B a broken spirit:
-B a broken and a contrite heart,
A O God [Elohim], thou wilt not despise.

4 Nephi (LDS 1:12)(RLDS 1:13)
A And they did not walk any more after the [DAILY] PERFORMANCES and ORDINANCES of the LAW OF MOSES [TYPES OF THINGS TO COME];
B but they did walk after the commandments [Torah] which they had received from their Lord [YHWH] and their God [Elohim],
A continuing in fasting and prayer,
B and in meeting together oft both to pray and to hear the word of the Lord [YHWH].

A version of the Sermon on Torah, more known as Sermon on the Mount, was given to the Lehites in 3 Nephi (LDS 12-14)(RLDS 5:44-6:37) after Yeshua’s / Jesus’ death and resurrection, during Shavuot / Pentecost in the new world. This happened while the apostles in the old world received the Holy Spirit, which is the Holy Behavior or in other words Torah see Acts 2. (In support of Acts 2 being during Shavuot / Pentecost 3,000 were baptized instead of 3,000 were put to death as what happened during Shavuot / Pentecost with Moses at Mount Sinai see Scripture Studies during Shavuot / Pentecost.) We can know that Sermon on Torah was given during Shavuot / Pentecost because it was given during Yeshua’s / Jesus’ 3 day visit to the Lehites. Shavuot / Pentecost is ideally a 3 day celebration as explained in Shavuot / Pentecost Counts. It is not always a 3 day celebration because the cycle of the moon changed around 700 BC to not be an exact 30 day cycle see Lunar Cycle Change for details. Ideally Shavuot / Pentecost starts the 28th day of the 4th moon till the 30 days of the 4th moon which is 3 days for more details about this see Shavuot / Pentecost Counts. The Sermon on Torah, more known as Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7 was also given during Shavuot / Pentecost as other scholars have stated. Yeshua / Jesus in the Sermon on Torah is expounding and returning people back to Torah. Yeshua / Jesus did not teach anything brand new, He was returning people back to what YHWH Elohim already taught in the Old Testament / Tanak. There are some minor differences between the Sermon on Torah with the Lehites in 3 Nephi (LDS 12-14)(RLDS 5:44-6:37) and the one Yeshua / Jesus taught in Matthew 5-7 in the old world because the cultures were a little different because they have been separated for about 600 years. One teaching of note, from the Sermon on Torah, is the beatitudes. One principle in the beatitudes is that the meek will inherit the earth. The meek are the righteous ones. To be righteous means to keep Torah. YHWH defines what is right and wrong in Torah and to be righteous is become like Yeshua / Jesus by doing all that YHWH states we are to do in Torah. If we are not to keep the High Holidays after Yeshua’s / Jesus’ death, it would be confusing that Yeshua / Jesus went to the Lehites after His death during Shavuot / Pentecost which is all about keeping YHWH’s law which is Torah. The Lehites went to the temple to gather together for Shavuot / Pentecost which is one of the pilgrimage festivals. Below in the list of the 10 division of Torah you will find where the different sections of Sermon on Torah are teaching Torah.

3 Nephi (LDS 26:13) (RLDS 12:6) … the Lord [YHWH] truly did teach the people, for the space of three days … (see Shavuot / Pentecost Counts for details)

3 Nephi (LDS 11:1)(RLDS 5:1-2)
1 And now it came to pass that there were a great multitude gathered together, of the people of Nephi, round about the temple which was in the land Bountiful; and they were marveling and wondering one with another, and were showing one to another the great and marvelous change which had taken place.

There is a prophecy in the Book of Mormon about the Brass Plates coming in future generations. The future generations will be during the Latter Days and then the Millennium. Latter Days is when it will be translated and will go to all nations with 144,000. It will continue to be read during the Millennium and bring people to repentance. Considering that the Brass Plates is basically the Old testament / Tanak, it is teaching people to keep Torah. With the Old Testament / Tanak is a record of people repenting which is returning to Yeshua / Jesus and His ways known as Torah. It would be funny to think the same record would get people to repent a different way than it is a record of how people repented by returning to Yeshua and Torah. The prophecy of the Brass Plates being translated and brought forth to all the world to bring them to repentance is stated in the bold passages which are 1 Nephi (LDS 5:18-19)(RLDS 1:169-171) and Alma (LDS 37:4,14,18,19)(RLDS 17:33,45,49,50). It is important to bring out that the “small and simple things” talked about in the Book of Mormon is YHWH’s words that convinces people to be Holy as Yeshua is Holy, showing that the “small and simple things” is Torah or in other words every word of Yah that is not a prescribed punishment. (See Torah in the Millennium for more details.)

1 Nephi (LDS 5:17-20)(RLDS 1:169-172)

—D 18 That these PLATES OF BRASS should go forth

YHWH Elohim calling the Book of Mormon and the holy scriptures His instructions in D&C (LDS 33:16)(RLDS 32)(1833 35)(1835 55)(1844 55) is informative because in the English versions of the Old Testament / Tanak the Hebrew word Torah is translated as instructions by Jews, while Christian’s translate it to law.

D&C (LDS 33:16)(RLDS 32)(1833 35)(1835 55)(1844 55)

Below is a list of scriptures in the Book of Mormon after Yeshua’s / Jesus’ death that teach Torah showing that Torah is still valid today. In addition, YHWH in modern revelation through Joseph Smith states that we are to keep Torah, the former commandments, along with abiding what is taught in the Book of Mormon, which with the list below, it will become obvious the Book of Mormon teaches Torah after Yeshua’s / Jesus’ death. During Scripture Study 2022-11-02, a shortened list of scriptures below teaching Torah from the holy prophets in the Book of Mormon after Yeshua’s / Jesus death showing that Torah is still valid today. While looking at the list of scriptures teaching the 10 divisions of Torah below, you will see how the 10 divisions are further divided into sub commandments dealing with the details of that division of Torah.

While looking at the listed passages below, you will begin to understand how there are sub-commandments under the 10 divisions of Torah.
